Miraculous World Rewrite - San Fransisco
Well there had to be a classical superhero story in here somewhere
We start in a dark room, the falling of flower petals, and the picture of a filipino woman in her mid forties or so. In narration a far more youthful voice starts us off.
“For generations, our family has kept the peace, we have toiled and tried and fought the injustices of the world. Our instincts guide us and show us the way.” There's a small beaded band with a sharktooth in the center that comes into frame at the bottom of the picture, and a small brown hand comes into frame and grabs the sharktooth. “Now it’s up to me to carry the legacy of those that came before. I carry the sharktooth, like my aunt before me, and my grandmother before her. I am the new shark. And I carry my legacy with pride.”
We then cut to a brightly lit penthouse room, pale fingers running quickly through black hair that tapers back into blonde near the roots. “You think this is gonna work?” a familiar voice asks.
“Trust me.” And even more familiar voice answers. “She’ll go absolutely ballistic.”
A camera ‘click’ goes off and its to show Chloe and Amber huddled beside each other for a selfie, both of them with freshly dyed ombre hairstyles, Chloe’s a nice medium magenta/purple, and amber’s going straight to black, complimenting an undercut hairstyle.
Cue intro.
We start up on a close up of the map we’ve been seeing for this entire special trilogy, specifically a blue thumbtack right over a town on the west coast of the US. A town called San Francisco for those whom are curious, maybe you’ve heard of it. But we only hold on it for a moment when we’re interrupted by the clatter of wood practice weapons. You remember the classic sparring matches, and as they very much used to be, this one has Chloe moving forward on the tonfas, going head to head with Sabrina, whom is holding her own a fair bit, Sabrina notably has her hair quite a bit longer than it used to be, long enough to hold back into a braid, while Chloe’s is still up in a ponytail. They trade blows a few moments longer Chloe swipes out Sabrina’s legs from under her and lands a tonfa right beside her face. “Aaannndd you’re dead. Or at least have severe blunt force trauma.”
“You know I'm starting to miss the days where you’d just boss me around.” Sabrina huffs even as Chloe helps her to her feet. “I could go without the regular ass kickings.”as she says this she massages a bruise forming on her shoulder.
Chloe laughs a bit and gently thwacks Sabrina on the shoulder. “Come on, You lost, so you make the post-workout smoothies.”
“I know, I know. But that does mean if I slip something healthy that you hate in there you won’t be able to tell.” Sabrina chirps and Chloe makes a scoffing noise.
“Hey!”
But the playful squabbling is broken up by a new entry into the New base. Amber shuffling in chatting on the phone with someone. “Yeah. Okay. I get it. No problem at all. Yeah. You have a great day too.” they hang up and shout “Hey! Break up the squabbling, I got confirmations!” Amber strides over, leaning in to give Sabrina a peck on the cheek and then poke Chloe on hers.
“You mean the people in the states?” Chloe asks “We got a place to stay?”
“Yup! Told them Dad was looking into making a sister hotel in the city and that I was going to be scouting the location out of the recently bankrupt locations in the area.”
“Aaannnddd?”
“And you were looking into their arts schools to see if they had any beautician courses.”
“Sweet.”
“So wait, what are you guys looking for in particular again?” Sabrina asks. “I mean we’ve been keeping an eye out for the Old Order, and any lost Miraculous but hasn’t there been a fully established Superhero in that city for years now?”
“Generations.” Amber answers, pouring a mug of coffee for themself and sticking it in the microwave. “There have been generations of established superheroes, all with the same shark theme, but they always go through the same pattern of starting out around… older teens or so and they’re around for a few decades until the next one comes in. but there’s been a gap between sharks, pretty big one, too. If there’s a chance of some sort of long standing family losing a Miraculous, someone should be scoping it out, especially if Alya’s hunch about the Old Order guy in the states is right.” The microwave beeps and they take out the mug of coffee, dumping their customary 5 hour energy into it before swirling it around and chugging the thing.
“Bleh… anyway, pack up, cancel some appointments, Make sure your boyfriend knows you’ll miss him by having lots of ‘fun’. We’re heading out day after tomorrow.” At the finish of that Amber lifts Sabrina over their shoulder and begins to carry her toward the door. “Too bad we can’t have Luka come, I’ve heard very good things about some of the sights in that town.”
“He has to be leader while the others are away, shut up.” Chloe huffs. But sure enough does pick up her phone, cheeks a little red.
We cut then to a few days later, specifically the arrival time. Chloe is conspicuously wearing a faded blue jacket with a few ‘rocker’ patches stitched onto it. (though the sleeves are rolled up so one can still see the pretty severe looking burn scars from the finale are still there) and Amber is carrying a roller bag with them, nonbinary and bisexual stickers noticably on the rim of it.
“So, your English rusty any?” Chloe raises a brow and Amber makes a sort of ‘pssh’ noise.
“I spoke English WAY more than I spoke French growing up.” She grabs Chloe’s wrist after the two collect their bags and runs out to the arrivals street in the airport. “Taxi!”
The taxi’s blare right past Amber, never seeming to even slow down. Chloe trots up her phone in hand. “Looks like San Fransisco does reserved Taxis only. You have to call the company up before anyone would stop for you.”
“...Wha?”
“They’ve got a solid metro system though, where’s the hotel Father set us up at?” They confer for a moment longer over the directions before shuffling their way down to the metro system. Some parts actually going above ground which is absolutely bonkers to the both of them. Until eventually the twins arrive at the hotel. Very fancy, very cool. Chloe makes an offhand comment about how their hotel is still cooler though, laughing a clearly in jest ‘hoity toity laugh’.
“Okay, new city, new country, completely different time zone, and a mission in mind.” Amber says out loud. “Only one thing to do.”
Hard cut to both of them in a dead sleep in their hotel room.
The windows have been thoroughly darkened by the blinds, but one can see the light peeking out through cracks. Eventually though a phone starts to ring and Chloe gets up with a small whine, eyes still shut and hair a mess she answers.
“Bourgeois; I was sleeping so this better be good.”
“I’m guessing that means you got in safe?” a voice says around a chuckle and Chloe smiles, still dead tired. The screen splits in two to show Luka on the other side, guitar perched on his lap and Sass hovering by.
“Hi. Sorry, I was too tired to think straight. Can you tell father we made it in safe too?”
“I thought I was your boyfriend not your secretary?”
“Luka, Sweetie, darling, honeycakes, I am too damn tired to horse around over this, seriously what’s going on?”
“Right.” Luka goes serious business and leans forward a bit. “So I’ve been doing a bit of digging into this assumed Shark based Miraculous and the rogues galleries that frequent the city, and… Look I want you and Amber to be careful, okay? You don’t have Miraculous Ladybug OR Second Chance over there and if either of you get hurt while I’m playing at being leader-”
“Luka, you’re spiraling again.” Chloe huffs. “Take a deep breath, hun. Amber and I have been doing this for longer than you have, Not by much, but we have. We know what we’re doing. And Yeah okay, it’s the states, people have guns, but we can handle it.”
“They fight a lot of weird battles, Chloe. Way more gang violence, I think one of the mafias has a branch over there, just- just promise me you’ll be careful.”
“I will. Okay? Neither of us are coming home with any new scars. And both of us ARE coming home. You need me to stay on with you for longer? What time is it over there?” Chloe checks her phone to see it’s about 5pm San Francisco time.
Luka looks away, mouth turning into a thin line.
“Luka. What time is it in France right now?” Chloe’s voice goes flat.
“I get the feeling if I say anything you’ll fully wake up and start yelling at me.”
“You’re lucky I don't want to fully wake up either. Go to bed. Whatever fucking time it is.”
She hangs up before he can respond and plops back down onto the bed.
There’s a pause and then Amber’s voice drifts up “Have him tell Dad we made it here safe I forgot to text him.” They add hazily.
“Already hung up.”
“Oh.”
And they’re both back asleep.
But the time then comes when the next day rises to get to work. Amber suggests if they start in places where the shark heroes would often frequent, or at least, the one that had recently, assumedly died. Which leads them on a vaguely touristy tour of a bunch of places in the city, one doing research while the other does more standard touristy things, eventually ending up at the botanical gardens. They linger outside while Chloe huffs and leans back her head onto the backrest of the bench they’re both sitting on, while Amber goes through the list of locations, crossing multiple out.
“Uggghhh this is impossible! Why did we think this would be so easy? Hawkmoth took literal years to find out who we were and he wasn’t even a villain anymore by that point.”
“Well the last Shark wielder, Tiger Shark apparently, was seen fighting a few villains here for his short stint, and before him Mako Shark did a LOT of battles around this area.”
“So what, we're just gonna hopefully run into the new kid or something? What kinda shark is just chilling in front of everyone anyway?”
“I guess we’ll find out, Mako Shark was purportedly killed so maybe Tiger Shark was just a placeholder hero for that new one to come around. Either way if this is Old Order stuff we gotta keep an eye out. Those jerks had a head start on us by a few years while we had to wait to get travel cards.”
“Yeah I know.” But just as Chloe stands up to stretch there’s a yelp and an ‘Incoming!’ before she barely jumps out of the way of a younger Filipino girl on a skateboard. She’s able to stop the board quickly (right about as she cleared the bench) and looked back apologetically. “Sorry ma’am!”
“Watch where you’re going kid!” Chloe hotly fires back, clearly freaked out. “Who even skateboards so close to a building anyway?”
“Sorry!” the kid says again, this time more defensively. “My friend thought it would be a real joke. NOAH!” The girl is off the skateboard and pointedly yells behind Chloe at that. She turns and sure enough another kid with sandy blonde hair, followed by two other girls, one with curly red hair and one with short brown hair approaches, the two girls have the boy trapped between the two of them. He looks sheepish.
“Sorry ma’am. I didn’t see you there. I don’t get to mess with Kit very often.”
The filipino girl, Kit apparently, flips her skateboard up into her hand. “You’re such a punk!” she slugs his arm. “Sorry again, miss.”
“Alright-” the short haired girl chimes in a ‘far too tired’ voice “let’s get out of here before Noah pushes someone else into a stranger and nearly gets them sued.”
“Hey!”
The kids sort of cart the ‘Noah’ kid out, Kit riding along in front of everyone back on her skateboard.
“Ugh, were we ever that young?” Chloe huffs with distaste. “How old were they fourteen?”
“Yeah, same age we became superheroes.”
“That’s fake. Fuck off that’s fake.”
“Well, coming to terms with our age is one thing I'd rather do over dinner, let’s find one of those places that make bread bowls. I want clam chowder.”
“‘Clam Chowder’ in ‘Bread bowls’? Now you’re just saying sounds.”
But around the time the two end up cutting through a more seedy part of town to get to the good restaurants it’s only a matter of course that they’d end up in trouble. Two pretty rich girls in the seedy part of town were just asking for trouble. The obvious confident superhero strut is ignored when they both get cornered by a group of tough looking men, most of which have a black shirt with a sort of sea serpent logo on it.
Chloe and Amber are, of course, not particularly intimidated by these snickering little boys who look at them in a combination of greed and desire. One leans in close to Amber and says they can keep their purse in exchange for a little… testing of the merchandise. Amber punches him in the face.
The thugs begin to pull out knives, ready to make this a problem, but before the twins can show them just how bad of a mistake that was, a blur of gray passes between them. A sort of weapon not dissimilar to nunchaku darting through the air to knock these boys back on their butts, and Chloe in specific notes a mouth of razor sharp teeth and a gray fin sticking out from long dark hair.
By the time the punks are all ran off the shark hero looks to both ladies and gently looks them both over for injuries. “Are you both okay?” she asks with a rocky kind of goofy ‘batman’-esque voice and when Amber nods she smiles. Chirps a quick ‘take care’ and wall jumps up to the roofs. Chloe thinks and brings Shorr out of her pocket, throwing out a hand and telling the Kwami to tail her.
Amber on the other hand transforms quickly, scooping Chloe up and going to follow the Kwami themself. Though they’d quickly lost sight of the shark hero, Shorr is far easier to spot and the little tiger Kwami leads them to a small neighborhood of single family homes. A language neither English nor French sometimes making its way to either of them as they camp out in front of a specific house, Chloe transforming as well soon enough. This is their only lead after all, may as well keep it. The stakeout begins.
But before too long of monitoring the house Cheshire’s ears twitch at a noise. She gets out a tonfa, but when they both nod and turn behind them the gray shark girl appears on the roof behind them both.
“Nicely done.” Bellflower huffs. “Almost didn’t hear you.”
“I don’t appreciate being stalked, I'll have you two know.” The gray suited girl from before glares at the two and we take this moment to take in her appearance, long dark hair that tapers into a slate gray, her coat tail flaring out on either side to imitate a shark’s tail, with a fin sprouting off of the back. Light blue scleras with a pinprick of cyan in place of her pupils. And when she snarls, it’s with a mouth of sharp teeth.
“Shark user.” Cheshire stands and in a sideways shot we see that though the Shark had been standing over the two of them Chloe alone easily dwarfs her upon standing. The shark adjusts her stance and pulls out her own weapon, a pair of sticks with a long chain connecting the two. Bellflower gets to their feet as well and the shark takes a half step back. “What do you want?!” she demands.
“Look, this is gonna sound weird, but-” Bellflower looks to Cheshire whom nods. “We’re…. Like you. Have you heard about the heroes of Paris?”
“Just…. Just that there’s a lot of them.”
“Well I’m Bellflower, and my friend here is Cheshire. And We’re both on Team Miraculous. After we beat our enemies they broke up all over the place and we’ve been trying to track down people that use Miraculous to make sure they’re protected against them. We heard about a family of shark users and we wanted to make sure that you guys were aware of the danger.”
“It’s not like we don’t think you all can’t handle yourselves or anything, but we haven’t seen anything about you ever since Tiger Shark vanished.”
“My father.” The shark wielder provided. “After my Aunt died my father took up the mantle until our matriarch decided I was ready.”
“So it is passed through the family?” Cheshire sums up “Not a very secure system-”
“It doesn’t need to be.” The Shark user shrugs. “My family has the shark tooth, but there’s a lot of us, a lot of cousins and a lot of aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews. You can narrow it down to this neighborhood, but you’ve only got one guess before the entire family’s coming down on you with frying pans and since you probably guessed wrong as to who in specific had the sharktooth you’ll have the real Shark on your butt too.”
“....Well when you put it like that it almost sounds like a good idea.” Bellflower huffs.
“So what’s your name then? If your Aunt was Mako Shark and your father was Tiger Shark..”
“Megalodon.” Megalodon answers easily, taking out her weapon again and spinning one of the ends idly. “Not that anyone’s found out yet.”
“You not ready to make your debut yet?” Cheshire wonders and Megalodon huffs, holstering the weapon and glares at the ground.
“Dad’s not ready for me to debut yet. I’m of age! Lola thinks I'm ready! I’m of age! I’m the same age Tiya Vanessa was when she became Mako! But it’s always ‘Noooooo Sinta you’re gonna get in over your head you can’t handle yourself’! Like Tatay! I’m not a child anymore! I’ve been training for years!”
“You probably shouldn’t be saying so many names in your ranting in front of strangers while you’re in mask.” Cheshire states dryly and with a grin.
Megalodon raises a brow. “Tiya Vanessa is dead, it doesn't matter if you know her name.”
“I meant the rest of that.”
“The rest of what?”
“You literally just revealed your name is Sinta.”
Megalodon blinks for a second then laughs. “Oh man! No sorry, that’s not a name, it’s Tagalog! Sinta is just what my father calls me! It’s like uhh… its like ‘Sweetie’ or ‘Honey’”
Now it's Bellflower’s turn to laugh as Cheshire’s face turns a bit red in embarrassment.
But after a moment's pause Megalodon huffs and straightens up a bit. “But to answer your earlier warnings, I haven’t seen anything about those Old Order mooks. Probably too afraid to get near with all the shit that’s already going on around here.”
“That’s not too unlikely, but those guys aren’t anything to take lightly. If your family is still unsure if you’re ready maybe you could pass the information onto them? Or maybe we could organize a meeting that would keep us from knowing their identities?”
“No need. Everyone in the family already knows, if you’re uncomfortable with us knowing you then you can just stay transformed.” As such Megalodon de-transforms herself, revealing her to be that young girl on the skateboard from before. Kit.
“I’ll see if Tatay is home from work yet and I’ll get him updated about you two. If he’s not back yet I'll introduce you guys to Lola. She’s been staying with us ever since I started my training.” Instead of re-transforming Kit heads to the fire escape and at the bottom clangs it once for the ladder to drop with her on it to the bottom. She vanishes into a certain house, and then after a beat re-opens the door, this time a little gray Kwami zipping up to the rooftop and a little shark with teeth (why does this Kwami have a full set of teeth?) greets the two of them.
“The little Guppy says you can head in. Little Wave isn’t back yet, Erlinda is ready for you though. Had a feeling you were coming, she did. Name’s Marr by the way. I don’t think I ever met your Kwamis though. Bee and Tiger, right? Don’t ring a bell. You seem like the good sort though.” Marr’s voice is a little rough and hissy, like a shark indeed. But he guides them to the proper house and in they go.
It’s a very simple Filipino household, a little on the cluttered side with various knick knacks and such, and it smells great inside as an elderly woman stirs something on the stovetop. She has an heir of ease about her.
“Lola, this is Cheshire and Bellflower, they’re heroes from Paris.” Kit introduces, and when the older woman turns to them a long jagged scar is visible on the other side of her face, she’s also blind in that eye. “Miss Cheshire, Miss Bellflower, this is my grandmother Erlinda.”
“Just call me Lola, Sinta, Sinta show these nice girls the couch, I’ll bet they haven’t had dinner yet.”
“I’m uh.. I’m actually not-” Amber starts but they’re both escorted to a comfy if old looking couch.
“Hold on just a minute Ladies. Marr old friend would you mind-?”
“No Kare-kare will ever burn on my watch!” Marr cheers. “Not with such briney, stewie, delicious oxtail in it.” The shark seems to salivate over the stew even as he stirs it.
“I put the scraps in the refrigerator if This one didn’t feed you yet.” Erlinda calls back as she passes by Kit, playfully ruffling her hair as she calls her ‘this one’ and settling in a comfy looking chair beside the girls. “Now, Those costumes must be uncomfortable to sit in, you can detransform if you’d like. It’s plenty safe here.” Erlinda offers.
“No thank you ma’am. Our identities are very important to us.” Chloe waves it off. “But we’re here to warn you all-”
“Of the oncoming darkness, Yes. It’s been coming for some time now.” Erlina cuts them off with a nod. “Kitty, Sinta, get us some of the sweet tea in the refrigerator.” Kit brightens a bit at the nickname and scurries off. “She’s so sweet. Just transitioned last year, but she still reacts like a little girl.”
“Oh! Good for her.” Amber humms. “It took me years to figure my own stuff out about it.”
“Ah, I see. To understand yourself at a young age is a very important gift, and I’m glad our Kitty was able to handle it so well.”
“Uhm… Miss Erlina-” Cheshire eventually cuts in.
“Lola, Child.”
“Lola… I really think we should get back on topic here.”
“Ah, there’s not much point. My Leo will be coming home soon, no point in explaining twice.” She looks off to the door. “That’s him now.” Sure enough the door opens and a gentleman looking old enough to be about the age to be Kit’s father comes in.
“Ina, I’m home.”
“Leonard Mahal, come in and say hello to some French heroes.”
“Ina what are you-” he turns to see Bellflower and Cheshire. “.....Absolutely not.”
“Mahal sit down.”
“No, Ina I will not have a couple of strangers who happen to also be ‘heroes’ coming into my house and putting my daughter in danger.”
“Tatay-!” Kit comes in just then with a tray of sweet tea glasses. “Lola has said i’m ready like, a million times already!”
“It is the time for Kitty to strike fear of the shark back into the world.”
“You don’t know that Ina.”
“Leo Mahal, you don’t know, you didn’t have Marr long enough, my instincts say Kitty is ready.”
“Sir, we’re not here to drag Kit into anything.” Bellflower starts “We just needed to warn you all. She uses a Miraculous, uses Marr, to fight. And there’s this group of enemies that we’ve faced before that have been looking out for Miraculous-”
“Yes, I know about them. Your enemies from your ‘War’. Right? How is it suddenly my daughter’s burden to bear that you all couldn’t keep a lid on your enemies?”
“Sir, it’s not that simple, we were young when the war went on-”
“And she’s young now!”
“Tatay I’m not a kid! I’m not in training anymore! Tell him Marr!”
“Little Wave’s instinct’s never developed, I didn’t have enough time with him.”
“Can you all stop talking about instinct for once? I get it Marr’s the Spirit of ‘Instinct’ but instinct doesn’t mean it’s true! Instinct doesn’t mean my daughter is ready for-”
“Maybe if Kit herself thinks she’s ready and her Kwami does-” Bellflower starts but is quickly cut off.
“You stay out of this! This is a family matter!” Bellflower puffs up and now this is turning into a whole Thing, as Amber kinda sorta starts projecting a little. Chloe makes eye contact with Kit and glances away toward the hallway and the two get up to convene in a slightly quieter area.
“I promise they’re not like this normally.”
“I can’t promise anything about my father so it’s okay.”
“Can we talk somewhere a little quieter?”
“Sure, my room is this one right here.” Sure enough the room is what you’d expect of a slightly sporty teenage girl, the skateboard leaned against the bedframe, a little trans flag in a cup by the window, and a few framed pictures of herself and her friends. She sits in her desk chair and CHloe after a moment’s pause sits on the bed.
“So, Do you guys really intend on me coming to find you all in Paris and helping join the war? Because I don't think I can afford a study abroad program.”
“Of course not. You’re not even established in San Francisco, we’d never ask help from someone so green. If anything, me and Bellflower might stay around for a bit longer to make sure you’re okay. And if there are any of our old enemies in the area to make sure you’re prepared to face them. They’re gonna track you down regardless of if you’ve debuted yet or not, but without any sort of battle experience they’re gonna beat you. They sure as hell got the better of us with even more experience.”
Chloe thinks for a moment and then de-transforms, she removes Shorr’s Miraculous and shows Kit her own scar. “This is a dangerous life, so I can’t really blame your father for not wanting you to be part of it, but unless he takes Marr away from you and takes up being Tiger Shark again it’s not his choice to make.”
“He hated being the shark. But I think he hates even more that it’s my turn now.” Chloe hums and leans forward until her arms rest on her knees.
“Look, Kit. I’m not saying that your Dad is right or wrong. But I am saying that there’s gonna be a lot of people in your life telling you what to do. Who to be, and what you deserve. Some of those people might be right. And some of them are so dead wrong that it’s laughable that they’re trying to convince you at all.
“It’s a pain. It’s gonna screw with your self image.” We briefly see a shot of the Miracle Box before it was stolen. “And it’s gonna happen to you your entire life.” The scorpion medallion replaces the miracle box behind Chloe for a moment. “But it’s YOUR self image that’s under fire. So you’re the one who has the power to tell people to fuck off. And then you can smack them with your nunchucks.”
Kit huffs and slides down in her seat a bit. “They’re Tabak Toyok, not Nunchucks. But… yeah I guess. I mean, I know that much at least.” she huffs a small laugh. “Guess it’s time to put that into my hero life too, huh? How’d you get that scar anyway?”
“Got it in the final battle of the war. One of our enemies had it out for me ever since I played the hell out of him and nearly ended the whole war single handed.”
“What? Oh you’ve GOT to tell me that story!”
The conversation keeps going until the door comes open and Amber, looking a bit exasperated but mostly still pissed off, is on the other side.
“So we just got kicked out of the house. Come on.”
Chloe facepalms and Kit looks between the two apologetically. Chloe grins slightly (if wanly) at her and says that they’ll be in contact. But only if she wants them to. Not if anyone else says for her to be. Chloe makes the point by transforming, and letting the tip of her tonfa shimmer a magenta for a moment.
“Check your phone app when you transform next.”
She salutes and the twins are gone.
We stay on Kit for a bit longer. There’s a knock at her door that sounds firm. Kit throws one of her pillows at the door and demands to be left alone. She ends up in a group call with the other kids from before.
“So like, what level of me ignoring my parents for the rest of the night will you guys be able to cover for so I can sneak out and do some investigating.”
The girl with the brown hair, identified in her username as Evil-Lynn, laughs and holds up her phone. “What dumb conversation about nothing should we have on recording?”
“Ooohh!” The boy, Boxer_Boy as his username says “Do the one about minecraft, she goes into the same rant every time it’ll be easy.”
The red haired girl, username marking her as CinnamonSugarXoXo stifles a laugh. “Or the one about Fraggle Rock. That one’s a classic.”
“Please stop treating my scripted rants about random things to enable my truancy for mysteries as if they’re favorite youtuber videos.”
“But you’re so cute” Evil-Lynn singsongs and Kit looks away, looking embarrassed but fighting off a grin. “Okay fine. Do the… the one about art teachers. I might need a long one tonight.”
So the call is running, but just as Kit is about to climb out the window the door gives a gentle knock. And coming in without allowance is Lola Erlinda. She looks at Kit, halfway out her window and is clearly holding a bowl of the food they were making earlier. She hums, Tells Kit to stay right there. And closes the door behind her, coming back a few moments later with a thermos instead. “You tell those two hero girls to get a spoonful of it too, Sinta.” She hands the thermos to Kit. “And whoever you bust up tonight, remind them that The Riptide might be retired, but she’s still alive.” She smirks at Kit, who grins gratefully back.
“Megalodon will pass along your message!” She chirps back.
We cut then to Kit, fully transformed into Megalodon, but with the thermos held under her arm and a bunch of notes under another as she pulls out her Tabak Toyok, and sure enough when she slides open the screen on one of the handles a purple striped icon is flashing for her.
Cheshire: Test Text
Megalodon: Test Response :P
Cheshire: oh sweet. U wanna do a lil investigating?
Megalodon: hell yea
So Kit, following the GPS coordinates they sent her, ends up on a rooftop not too far from home, her notes drop with an audible ‘thunk’ onto one of those rooftop air conditioners. “Alright, here’s what I have about some cases around the city. This one I feel pretty confident I have an answer to.” Said file is showing a robbery from the De Young art Museum. “The method of entry, guard casualties, and collateral damage point to this being an organized effort. We have a few organized crime syndicates in the area, but not a lot of them. The Masters, the Seamonsters, but they’re more of a street gang than a mob, and uh…” Kit gulps a little. “The Don.”
“The Don?” Amber asks, as they pass Chloe the thermos of stew.
“Don Mariposa.” Kit looks away as the shadowy figure of a faceless woman with a butterfly-like black and orange suit leers over her. “She was my Aunt’s nemesis before she died. It seemed like she was specifically targeting her for years. Doing heists just because she knew it would piss my aunt off that she still couldn’t catch her.” Kit shudders. “I’m gonna hope I don't have to face her myself as my debut, so let’s just hope this is the Masters.”
“Here’s hoping.” Amber agrees. Chloe does notice Kit looking yet more unsettled though as she agrees as well. They said the shark was the Kwami of Instinct didn’t they? And Kit clearly has a bad feeling about this.
But all the same she continues on and says that she’s tracked down the most likely places the exhibit was moved to, and singles out a storage area on the shadier side of the embarcadero. So everyone gets ready and races to the third act.
The warehouse is, you guessed it, crawling with mooks. But we’re fighting normal humans with guns today instead of magical henchmen or anything, so Cheshire and Bellflower look over the entrances and exits. A playful quiet conversation is shared between siblings about how they probably shouldn’t get Mr. Villaruz’s daughter killed on her first real bust. You know, to be safe and all.
But of course, rookie mistake, just as Bellflower turns to where Megalodon had been to tell her the plan, the eager teenager was already gone. She hasn’t been discovered yet, getting in through a window and sliding into the shadows, gray costume blending into the equally slate gray walls.
“There’s no WAY we were that young when we started.” “We were.”
But the fifteen year old is down there, so they have to be too now. There’s some silent investigations when the mooks all chat among each other, and one of the more higher up ones yells at a guard, saying the worst thing for Kit to hear. ‘The Don’ll have your head if you keep horsing around!’ She snarls, mouth of shark teeth glinting in the low light. But thankfully two trained veterans are faster than a rookie, If they’re gonna fight it’ll be on their terms.
“Cacophony!” The sonic boom shakes the ground and the guards all grasp their ears in pain just as Megalodon jumps in, Bellflower at her heels, and Cheshire soon after. With the element of surprise and the immediate blaring sound attack the mooks were unprepared and though it’s a lot of people against only three, it’s not that difficult to keep their own, and the hired guns begin to drop.
Megalodon is a mix of furious and excited, running the gambit with her Tabak Toyok and taking out a few mooks. Not as many as the older heroes, but still enough that she’s feeling pretty good.
And then there’s a blindspot. Her instincts sense dangers (shown as the sound of crashing waves in her POV) and when she turns it’s to the butt of a gun in her face. Megalodon goes down, hard. She’s not unconscious, but she reaches a hand up and her nose is bleeding very badly down her chin. Her nose is probably broken as the jerk grabs her by a handful of hair. “Look at this little girl trying to play hero.” he huffs.
“Megalodon!” “Kid!” (Chloe said ‘Kit’ but its clear everyone around her thought she said ‘kid’) But both older heroes are swarmed quickly by the rest of the mook squads, giving Kit some one on one time with the man whom bested her.
She glares at him around tear-filled eyes and he smirks. “You look just like the lady before. Mako Shark wasn’t it? You know I was in the room when the Don killed her.” Kit gasps quietly “I was only a grunt myself at the time, but I'll never forget it. She was beautiful; the Don, that is, when she had that shark girl at her feet, pistol to her throat-” he pantomimed the motion with his fingers, pressing his pointer to the underside of his chin. “And you know what she said? She said ‘You’ll live forever when the world hears.’ I had chills.”
Kit’s expression hardens into a scowl. “Intuition-” she growls. The slate gray magic sparks up and down her form, her entire form, solidifying around her foe in splotches. The man stumbles a little, taken aback by the light show, and then light lightning before he can pull his rifle back on her, Kit’s hands dart out, striking the now highlighted areas on his body. The man falls, crying out in pain and letting Kit go. She spits a glob of bloody nose blood at the man and scrubs her nose and mouth. “So the Don killed my Aunt, huh?”
But by the time Kit gathers that particular note of information the red and blue lights of police cards flash in the distance.
The stolen exhibit is secured, the two french heroes are recognized as just that, and all eyes turn to the grey suited hero, so clearly a child in comparison to the rest of the adults around her.
“Well we wouldn’t have even known where to start if it wasn’t for the new shark hero in the city.” Bellflower compliments, and Chloe winks at her when the officer, and then a news reporter both ask her her name, and if she’s truly the next heir of the shark based superhero.
Kit takes a deep breath. “My name is Megalodon. And the city of San Francisco is under my protection from here on out. So If any punks or criminals or anything of the kind want to mess with my city, they’re gonna have to answer to me first.” She punches her fist, her nose is still notably bloody, but for a moment it just makes her look tough.
“And this is also marking an allyship between the Shark of San Francisco, and Team Miraculous of France.” She looks to the two girls and nods. “If ever they need the rending jaws of the ocean’s greatest predator, they need only ask.”
We see a quick montage afterward, Kit getting yelled at by her father, but with Lola Erlinda interrupting before too long and encouraging her. (Kit is notably ecstatic at her grandmother’s approval) Her friends coming over with soda and snacks on what is assumedly the following day, Kit’s nose is all patched up but still an ugly purple shade. Noah makes some sort of exasperated comment and the crew laughs at him. Evelyn looks troubled though, and is texting someone at the end of it. Anna offering Kit a compact and mirror to apparently try and cover up the bruise.
But finally we cut to the night again. And notably Megalodon on a rooftop, she’s stretching and prepping. Lola Erlinda is sitting on a deck chair beside her wrapped in a blanket. And in a flash of light and color Cheshire and Bellflower are there.
“You ready pipsqueak?” Cheshire cracks her knuckles.
“Born ready.”
“Let’s see what you’ve got.” Kit draws her Tabak Toyok and Chloe draws her tonfa, and they begin to spar.
The end.
