Titan Raven’s Haywire Emotions

It seems that one of the Titans’ central members, Raven, may be experiencing some complications with her powers.

Very little is known about this member of the Titans team. She appears to have originally joined the group two decades ago, when the original members still operated under the name Teen Titans. Then, despite changing membership over the years, Raven has consistently remained on the Titans through their many different iterations. Last year, she joined the Titans as they officially formed to replace the now-reformed Justice League as the world’s primary hero organization.

All the public knows about Raven is that she’s a longstanding member of the Titans, has been in an on-again-off-again relationship with Beast Boy, and is the half-daughter of Trigon. Even her powers are mysterious to the general public, with very little clarification on what she can actually do. But, one of the things we do know about her, is that she’s an empath of some form.

This facet of Raven's powers was what haunted the citizens of New York yesterday afternoon. Raven, reportedly on a walk with Beast Boy in Central Park, was harassed by a group of anti-meta protesters who nearly incited Beast Boy into a fight. Raven’s empathetic powers appear to have overloaded during the incident, causing the park-goers to turn angry. They formed a mob that almost attacked the anti-meta hecklers.

One civilian described the feeling as if “my mind wasn’t my own. I was personally a bit annoyed by those idiots, but then there was just this rush of anger. It was mine, but it was distinctly not at the same time.” Thankfully, Beast Boy managed to stop the mob by turning into an adorable quokka and successfully dispelling their anger.

However, Raven then kissed Beast Boy to thank him, which caused all of the civilians to start kissing each other. Normally we here at the Daily Planet are big fans of love, especially between some of our beloved heroes, but not this kind. In a fortunate turn of events, the Titans appeared on the scene and Starfire successfully distracted the lovebirds to finally put an end to the emotional hijacking.

In a statement released to the public on L (formerly known as ‘Twitter’) by Donna Troy, Wonder Girl, the Titans apologized for Raven’s emotional projection. They promised that they are working on solutions for her, and expect her to be able to return to field duty within the next few days. So if Raven is your favorite Titan, then don’t worry! She’ll be back soon and hopefully better than ever.
