Thinking about this has me crying—

So, in Beast, Akutagawa grew up in the streets, right? Realistically, how literate would he even be? In the manga, his report was really simple, and he did talk to Astsushi about getting paper and books, but suppose that he couldn't read.

I imagine him learning that Kunikida is a teacher, and although he was a math teacher, Akutagawa goes to him and asks if he could teach Akutagawa to read properly, fully complete and complicated sentences.

Obviously, Kunikida thinks it's a great idea and will help, but seeing how focused Akutagawa is about it, he asks, "What brought this on?"

And Akutagawa is quiet for a moment, before he looks down, saying softly, "Oda-san is writing a book."

Im sorry but beast dazai and beast chuuya. It’s eating me alive. Dazai being so consumed by the pain from the knowledge of his relationships with Oda in both universes to the point of driving himself to commit suicide in a way that could simply not fail- we are talking about the man who has survived countless attempts on his own life, always putting it off, always somehow fiercely holding on to life. And now he doesn’t hesitate, and no one could ever truly understand how alone he was not only as the head of the mafia but also within himself, away from his friendship with Oda, which he knows could be possible in other universes but will inevitably lead to his death, and away from the soul-sharing relationship he has with chuuya in the main timeline, as friends and as partners who understand each other with mere looks across a room.

And don’t get me started on chuuya. His whole life, power, body, energy, devotion and loyalty always spent and used up at the feet of this man, which in some twisted way would be considered his friend. Always covering his blind side, sticking up for him, giving his everything to this man. I don’t know how the flags or other friendships of chuuya would work on the beast au, but if chuuya is even more alone in this timeline and dazai was the closest thing the man could feel to having a friend, imagine the utter frustration, rage, grief, pain, overflowing his body as he realizes that the very man he devoted himself to for so many years simply killed himself because of some guy he has met twice or so. No explanation, no apology, not even a goodbye.

I know Im missing so many things from the beast au soPLEASE someone talk to me about this I need to do something with all these thoughts

beast ssk where chuuya is the only person dazai will allow near him when he's ill. any and all medical care has to be left for chuuya to do because dazai will kill anyone else who dares to approach him when he's so vulnerable

I love this so much as a concept I've never considered this because Beast Dazau truly is so secretive and I love the idea of this and Chuuya not really understand why he's the exception...but he does it because no one else can...Dazai so out of it from a high fever that he's been unconscious for hours and Chuuya is sitting beside his bed just quietly wondering to himself what his deal is

If you think about it in a certain way...Beast Dazai had a ton of faith in Beast Akutagawa. He really jumped off a roof and left the world he carefully constructed and dedicated his entire life to in Akutagawa's hands — 'cuz let's face it, Beast Atsushi is so traumatized, man can't make a decision for himself to save his life. Like, Beast Dazai got Atsushi out of the Mafia and sent him to therapy, meanwhile Akutagawa may or may not have a corruption-crazy Chuuya to fight in the near future.

so yk how the right side of the brain supposedly controls emotions and the left side controls logic? (Im not a bio student dont come at me)

SOO think about beast! dazai.

In the original canon universe, while in the mafia, Dazai's bandages were over his right eye, which can be taken as covering the right side of the head/brain, symbolic of how this Dazai chose cold logic over emotions and also showing how, when Odasaku died, taking the bandages down with him, Dazai's right side, responsible for emotions, opened, allowing him to listen to his emotions for once and fulfil Odasaku's dying wish

BUT IN THE BEAST AU, one thing I've noticed is that his bandages are over his left eye. As in, he is covering his logical side, leaving his emotional side open. Hear me out. this, imo is symbolic of how this Dazai, is a reflection, a creation, of the original Dazai's emotions. The original Dazai chose to allow his emotions to rule over his logic for once by writing in the Book to create a world where Oda would be alive. This Dazai? He is a manifestation of Dazai's emotions, because he's acting on the original him's emotions, to fulfil something which the original Dazai was unable to

I have no idea whatsoever where im going with this but i needed to share it.

Edit: ahem ahem we do not talk abt the fact that the eyes are connected to opposite sides of the brain or smth .
