Race: Angel Alignment: Fifth Angel Origin: Neon Genesis Evangelion April 1st, 2025 (Uploaded April 7th, 2025)

SMT Dx2 is weird. Very weird. As a long running mobile Gacha game, much like my beloved Battle Cats, Dx2 has had many a collab with many a series; Madoka Magica, Berserk, Bayonetta, Devil May Cry again, Ghost in the Shell for some reason... to say the least, it's chock full of random demons that only count as demons due to the insanity of collab events. As such, there was many a choice for the best holiday of them all, April Fool's Day, but I decided on one Angel in particular- my favorite Angel from one of my favorite anime of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion. As an SMT fan, NGE is right up my alley, and it's not hard to see why- I mean, it's basically Christian fanfiction, much like the Megaten series as a whole. While my original plan for AFD was to cover Pikachu, I figured that covering an actual demon from the SMT series would be best, and as such... today's Angel of the Day is none other than the floating, screaming, non-euclidian octahedron, Ramiel.

Ramiel is an actual angel in some Hebrew texts, though his mentions are very scarce, and he's commonly conflated with the confusingly named Remiel, who, as far as I know, is a completely different angel? In the Book of Enoch, a non-canonical but still very influential biblical text, Ramiel is mentioned among the ranks of several angels who fell from heaven to live amongst humanity in Chapter 6, in the following passage:

And they were in all two hundred; who descended ⌈in the days⌉ of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. 7. And these are the names of their leaders: Sêmîazâz, their leader, Arâkîba, Râmêêl, Kôkabîêl, Tâmîêl, Râmîêl, Dânêl, Êzêqêêl, Barâqîjâl, Asâêl, Armârôs, Batârêl, Anânêl, Zaqîêl, Samsâpêêl, Satarêl, Tûrêl, Jômjâêl, Sariêl. 8. These are their chiefs of tens.

However, this is... about it for mentions of Ramiel himself. From what I can infer, he was among the angels who made offspring with human women called Nephilim, but that gets us into a whole biblical conspiracy theory that's too big for me to cover today. Interestingly, though, Ramiel is mentioned as the sixth ruler of these fallen angels, called Watchers, which is also the angel he appears as in Evangelion! At least in the Rebuilds. I think. I haven't watched them yet. However, he is commonly conflated with another angel, this one being Remiel, so what's Remiel's deal?

Remiel is an archangel also mentioned in a rather contentious text, this one being 2 Baruch, a Jewish text dated to be part of the old testament but not commonly regarded as scripture. He ALSO shows up in the Book of Enoch, confusingly, but not as the fallen angel Ramiel- rather, he's an archangel there too. Isn't theology just the best? In 2 Baruch, Remiel appears to the titular Baruch, trying to guide Baruch away from temptation and reassuring him that he can avoid punishment. It's said that he is an Archangel of Hope in his Wikipedia page but, full disclosure, I can't find much about this specific title? Also, the fact that he's occasionally called Uriel makes this only more confusing, given that Uriel is a figure with far more to his story, so I'll cut this short here.

Now, with all of this being said... his design in Evangelion is iconic. There's nothing you can say about it that hasn't already been said, not because it's fantastic (though it is) but rather because there's... not much to say? He's a floating blue diamond that shoots lasers at you. It's peak fiction. Enough said. With that, happy (belated) AFD! Watch Evangelion if you haven't already, it's fantastic. Just don't engage with the fandom. At all. Unless it's the gay tumblr side.

A SEMI-REASONABLE 40 CHARACTER SMASH ROSTER

An exercise in indulgence and egoism, and posted as the same.

THE RULES:

1. Characters shall be semi-reasonable! Beatoriche I love you but this needs to be a roster composed of characters who could conceivably actually make it into Smash. They should be from video games, and ideally ones people care about.

2. Characters shall be gender balanced! I separated my picks into four categories: GUYS, GIRLS, and CREATURES AND CHARACTERS, TYPICALLY PLAYER, OF EITHER CARDINAL GENDER (like Pikachu or the Animal Crossing Villager). the number of GUYS shall be EQUAL TO OR LESSER THAN the number of GIRLS. I set this restriction on myself and so should you.

3. Characters shall be 40 of them! but you could tell that from the title.

GUYS

MARIO - You have to have this guy. also like it's been like 20+ years since Sunshine can we not give him something other than FLUDD?

DONKEY KONG, LUIGI, NESS, BOWSER, FOX, WARIO - You also have to have these guys. I cut Captain Falcon, as we already had Fox as a Smash original character.

LINK - Someday we will be able to put Link in the CHARACTERS OF EITHER CARDINAL GENDER list, but not yet.

KING DEDEDE - Sakurai made this so his faves get a little extra attention. I claim that same right.

SNAKE - Updated for MGSV, naturally.

SONIC (Palette Swap: SHADOW) - I really really don't care about these guys. I kind of actively hate them actually. but they deserve to be here, even if all their moves are the same (turning into a ball and the ball flies at you).

CLOUD - The iconic Final Fantasy pretty boy. Would I prefer Lightning? yeah. but this is the semi-realistic roster.

PHOENIX WRIGHT - I know, preaching to the crowd here. This guy is a tumblr darling behind only his boyfriend Miles Edgeworth. But they've put him in fighting games before! And he totally has a moveset, right? Presenting his badge as a jab, shooting OBJECTION and TAKE THAT! (HOLD IT! is a grab!), submitting paperwork and random items hoping and praying that they'll be accepted as evidence...

Barely missed the cut: Sans Undertale, Sekiro, Shulk, Solaire, Paper Mario, Sora.

GIRLS

SAMUS - You have to have this girl.

PEACH/DAISY - Ideally Daisy would get Luigified (this is the very technical term for when a Smash character starts out as a clone and then gets differentiated) as the Mario Sports Game Representation. But that probably wouldn't happen. Peach is fine. kind of

ZELDA (Breath of the Wild/Tears Of The Kingdom) - The opposite of the Smash Ultimate dynamic. Smash Lscholar Link is old-school Link; Zelda is newer Zelda. Like in Hyrule Warriors she fights using runes on her magic ipad/wii u pad/nintendo switch game console. Bombs, Ice Block, Ultrahand - and the ability to Recall all of them, sending them flying backwards along their trajectories when the attack is reinput. An evil zoner but let's be honest: she already is. Maybe she has a "take a picture" that can stun?

ISABELLE, ROSALINA - both need reworks. Isabelle in particular has the potential to be a Kirby for new players - but hitting with her is so hard that most try her for a round and play Toon Link instead.

BAYONETTA - No notes.

HORNET (Hollow Knight: Silksong) - Clear moveset, fan favorite, zero questions.

D.VA (Overwatch and, fine, Overwatch 2) - The single most popular Overwatch character by far, and a much needed female heavyweight character. Would translate pretty well to Smash as a pushy zippy tank-type.

EDELGARD VON HRESVELG (Fire Emblem: Three Houses/Three Hopes) - big smashy axe, avowed militant atheist, Vriska, Fire Emblem rep. Smash Lsclr's Ike. Slow but dangerous, with surprising range, much like Byleth; unlike Byleth she is an actual character. also her axe twirl has to be a taunt. Also she's canonically bisexual. which would make her the second bisexual smash character after Snake, and the third in my heart after Cloud Strife (Byleth isn't real).

REIMU HAKUREI (Touhou) - Iconic rep from possibly the single most important indie game series.

CHUN LI (STREET FIGHTER) - Honestly surprised they put Ryu in Smash. I feel like if you asked anybody to name a Street Fighter character Chun Li would be first?

UNDYNE (Undertale) - Fine. Susie (Deltarune) is also acceptable.

VI or JINX or SOME LEAGUE OF LEGENDS GIRL (LoL) - as with Sonic I don't care for these but they have undeniably earned their places. Arcane was better than it should have been and I really hope Mel Medarda survives into s2.

SABER (Fate/Stay Night) - It's Saber! I know this seems like a meme pick but I really do think she deserves to be here.

Barely missed the cut: Karlach or Shadowheart, The Silent, Arle Nadja, Vriska

CREATURES AND CHARACTERS, TYPICALLY PLAYER, OF EITHER CARDINAL GENDER (like Pikachu or the Animal Crossing Villager)

PIKACHU - You have to have this thing. Brand recognition on par with Santa Claus or Jesus. A creature for sure, even if its tail indicates biological gender.

KIRBY - This is technically a Guy but in practice this is a creature. also I have one less Guy than Girl so I could put him there, but I chose not to.

YOSHI/BIRDO - Put a trans woman in Smash. She's just a Yoshi reskin and that's fine.

MARTH/LUCINA - The other Fire Emblem rep. Why does Awakening get like three characters? may have to make Marth a bit less floaty to make this work but they really should consolidate these two.

POKEMON TRAINER (Charizard, Ivysaur, Squirtle) - good on nintendo for making it possible to play pokemon trainer as a guy or girl.

POKEMON TRAINER 2 (Gengar, Gardevoir, Lucario) - We have so many pokemon and here's three more. swap out one of your choice for Jigglypuff or Mewtwo or Mimikyu or Greninja or whatever, as long as your substitution isn't from Kanto. This pokemon trainer is a bit more of a tryhard, and wears darker clothing. also their pokemon are category balanced: one is a guy, one is a girl, and one is a creature.

INKLING - Kind of a creature and definitely not of either cardinal gender. these kids squids are nonbinary. A good addition to smash; may they goop and bloop for many games to come.

Wii FIT TRAINER - Mix in Wii Sports and Ring Fit and whatever else.

ANIMAL CROSSING VILLAGER/MINECRAFT STEVE AND ALEX/PACMAN AND MS PACMAN - CHARACTERS OF EITHER CARDINAL GENDER

NOAH AND MIO XENOBLADE (XENOBLADE 3) - Like Pyra and Mythra but less gross. Mio has faster short range chakram attacks and mobility; Noah has slower harder-hitting moves.

THE ASSASSIN (Assassin's Creed) - Snake represents Solid, Naked, and Venom; why can't The Assassin be Altair, Ezio, and whoever else?

I’m sorry to keep you waiting for this long, especially considering that I realised that I wrote a post about it some time ago as well… But I don’t want to just waltz in like two month after you sent this ask and say “hey, read this post instead”, so I’ll add some more thoughts!

Gap moe!! But specifically the type of gap moe when a character that seems very stern and antagonistic at first ends up having a huge soft spot for the protagonist, ending up as kind of a pushover, someone who gets bullied by the narrative and a cutie overall. Examples of that would be Levi from SnK or Barok from TGAA; it’s kind of subtle with them, but it’s enough for me to woobify the shit out of them lol

Also it’s probably super obvious because of my horror comic + the kind of spooky twst content we post sometimes, but I really love the “cryptids among us�� trope, especially when it’s genuinely creepy and the comedy aspect is a bit unhinged lol When someone gets bad vibes from a character and it turns out that they’re either cursed or not a human at all, or when a character tries to hide his inhuman nature… it’s a pretty broad description and this trope doesn’t work for me all the time, but I hope you understand what I’m talking about!

Hmm, when it turns out that the bad guy is genuinely bad. Like when the story makes you feel bad for feeling sorry for them or humanising them for a moment there. I feel like it doesn’t happen too often, but one example I could give is Eric Cartman lol Maybe jjk Sukuna in a way? I just like the feeling of oh no we shouldn’t relax around this guy, he really is that bad.

I also love subversion of tropes, but only when it doesn’t feel like the authors are patting themselves on the back too much for being original. I don’t know, sometimes it gets annoying lol But I really love when you watch a show, kind of subconsciously expecting a certain outcome, and then something happens that completely switches the narrative, even its tone sometimes. Hunter x Hunter gave me this feeling a lot, and the Boys as well (mostly the first season), for example.

Woah, Azul really could go straight to the source…! And considering how bitter he is at Leona (he is still not over it!), I think he is legally entitled to have his revenge sex. That would pacify his soul AND satisfy his body AND boost his ego!! Maybe he has something planned, who knows… this man believes that revenge is a dish best served cold. And it’s definitely going to be a 4-course meal with this guy.

Because of our biases and preferences when it comes to tops, we wouldn’t really headcanon Lilia stimulating his own butt, but I get where you’re coming from. I also think Lilia is very intrigued by sex toys though! So yes, to answer your second question, he would absolutely wreck anyone he’s sleeping with if he comes across a toy that seems like something new and exciting (so any toy lol). And using all of them at once to keep every area overstimulated sounds like a very Lilia thing to do.

Also, we’re going to have a hc post about sex toys hopefully soon, so I’ll talk about this topic again…

It awakened something in him instead. Vil was edged many times when Rook returned to Pomefiore.

Trey and Jade had some private time with Idia a couple weeks later without a stalker/interloper when Vil mysteriously got dosed with an asphoradic (You made me a special healthy cake to fit in my diet Trey? Very well, I suppose I shall give it a try at some point) and Rook was taking care of him.

You really took me on a journey, but in a good way. That’s one sexy criminal drama… this world doesn’t want Jade and Trey to unite their forces against someone, and Idia absolutely wants it the least out of everyone, but who is going to ask him? This poor guy… he really is a perfect victim lol

The thing with Trey is that when he is enabled, his actions could lead to unexpectedly bizarre circumstances, so I can actually see Jade being amused by what else he could do to Idia.

Also, poor Rook! He has the right to join – he is also in the science club, after all, he could add some of his own freak to this already wild mix! But I guess that would be too much for Idia lol Oh well, at least now Vil is also a victim of these guys’ shenanigans…. That’s what friends are for after all – to make special healthy cakes for their friends’ lovers.

Dear Anon, it’s been so long, I hope you are still somewhat excited… because it is a great thing! Malleus absolutely should get paired with the tweels more often – it’s such a fun combination! Malleus should get ALL the duo options!

And yes, he really does call both of them Leech… although I feel like we’ve seen him refer to them by their names a couple of times – even the Shrouds couldn’t make Malleus ditch his habit of calling everyone by their last name, but I guess “left Leech” and “right Leech” doesn’t work as well as “Shroud” and “smaller Shroud” 😭 It’s so funny…!

Another Tweels+Malleus moment that comes to mind is that Malleus and Floyd had to operate a cotton candy stand together (…with Sebek as well!) during the Portfest, and that was pretty funny as well.

As for the ship, I think it has a lot of potential. Be it with one of the tweels or with both of them at the same time, Malleus absolutely is going to get confused by them a lot, but also amused by their mischievous minds. I think they would also remind him of Lilia a little bit, which is always a plus for Malleus.

As for the tweels, they do like shiny and interesting toys, and there is no one in this school who is more powerful than Malleus, and his entire character is so unique and new to them, they could really get into it.

Also I absolutely agree with you in terms of character interactions; I really love that twst has a lot of events that forces random characters to talk to each other, and a lot of times it makes our shipping minds go “hm? What was that? 😳”

Now you made me think about Trey and Silver…

Smash 6 Wishlist Shrek

My Smash 6 Character Wishlist part ∞ Shrek Forget Crash Bandicoot, Dr. Eggman and Shadow the Hedgehog. The true #1 character I want the most for Smash 6 on the Switch 2 is the Ogrelord himself known as "Shrek". OK hear me out, Shrek has been been truly and single handedly the most requested character in the "Smash Fighter Ballot" back in Smash 4. Unfortunately Bayonetta took his place because Sakurai himself said that Bayonetta was his #1 waifu, and that's how she became DLC. And Sora also took Shrek's place for DLC in Ultimate because Sakurai works for Sora. So the reasoning behind Shrek's exclusion in Smash is very unclear. Shrek has been an icon for decades now, and including him in Smash would be so groundbreaking. He's had countless games from "Shrek the Video Game" to "Shrek SuperSlam" and tons more, and most if not all of them have been on every single Nintendo consoles since the "Game Boy Advance" (his movies were also featured on said console). And with "Shrek 5" on the horizon, it would be a perfect timing to promote the movie by bringing him into Smash. He'd be an OP heavyweight character surpassing Bowser and Ganondorf. And with his trusty friend "Donkey", he'd be so unstoppable he'd make Melee Fox, Brawl Meta Knight, Smash 4 Bayonetta, and Hero all puny low-tiers. Besides who wouldn't want to see Shrek go up against other iconic characters like Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Pikachu Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man, and many more while "All-Star" by Smash Mouth (R.I.P.) playing in the background on either Battlefield, Final Destination, or better yet at Shrek's Swamp? So all in all, Shrek would make a great inclusion to the roster. So much so it would break the internet by storm into itty-bitty bite-sized pieces. Shrek has played a huge role in my childhood, and for that I say no other character deserves to be in Smash 6 but Shrek. Shrek is love, Shrek is life

Justice for Ganondorf

Sm4sh's roster is the 4th best (XD) meaning the weakest if not for Melee. Making Sheik and Zero Suit distinct was great but only Charizard was lame. I'm glad the Trainer is the only character with that gimmick remaining. But the Master Ball is cool. (Also, quick sidenote: the new items in Ultimate are also really cool. I didn't know where to add it so here it is whilst I think of it). Honestly, the newcomers are all decent, highlights being to Palutena and Pac-Man, but the rest just aren't that fun to play as. Also, who they cut out weakens this one. And remember, this was before Echos so Dark Pit and Lucina were the worst characters until Ultimate. And the DLC. I'll start this off by saying that Ryu and Bayonetta are great (although I can't play them) but I don't really like the more realistic looking 3rd party characters, they don't gel well. Besides Snake, Snake is so realistic that he circles back. He's also Snake. But this is why I've never had a problem with the anime sword fighters, I think they look quite good along the more cartoony characters (anime and cartoon solidarity). Cloud is great. Corrin is not. This is the game where FE overstepped their boundary. Marth was good, Roy sucked, and Ike was a great replacement. Robin was good and unique but another clone of Marth? And then DLC for the 2 worst FE reps? Get out of here. If Lucina and Corrin weren't in Smash I think people would have responded more positively to FE. And Byleth should have been in the base game of Ultimate, even if that's impossible. And the rest being characters already represented in the game? And Roy? I am so glad for Ultimate. And I am so glad for Luigi becoming a unique character So: Brawl > Ultimate > 64 > Sm4sh > Melee. Justice for Ganondorf. (Subspace Emissary/Nintendo Sci-fi, 3D All-stars, Sonic/Metal Gear, Tennis, Nitro Kart Planets) Another thing I thought about is the representation of women in Smash. I forgot that Ken was new in Ultimate and whilst great, and the most unique echo, Chun-Li would have been better. And again with Terry, Mai Shiranui is more iconic. Some may say that she's too sexual but that's a load of bull, Bayonetta is in Smash along with Pyra and Mythra, sadly. And people like Mai's sexuality. Sexuality isn't the problem, it's the lack of male sexuality. The closest we get is Sephiroth and Snake. Recently, I've been playing a lot of CTR Nitro. Best kart racer on switch and best roster from any game bar none, the only characters not referenced in that game from Crash's history are Farmer Earnest, Willy Wumpa Cheeks, and Viscount. But out of 55 characters only 10 are female. 7 are bandicoots, 5 are sexy bandicoots and another one is a baby version, and you are only left with 3. Even if you add all the genderless characters, like we do in real life, there are only 16. The most unique female character is Nina Cortex, the rest are either cute or sexy animals. In Smash, there are 19 characters out of 94 that are female (including echos, Alex, and secondary characters like Luma and Kazooie) one of which is Sheik. 35 if you include Pokemon, animals, and characters that can be either or. Back in 64 Samus was the only woman and they had to put her in twice to boost the numbers. Chun-Li and Mai Shiranui would have been great female reps that are both strong, capable, and present different and somewhat realistic beauty, more so than Pyra/Mythra. So maybe I was too harsh on Isabelle. (I can't figure out how to add back the title for my last post) But I haven't answered the question, what is my ideal roster? Best most unique characters: Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B, and Piranha plant. Duck Hunt and Ice Climbers can suck it, being from the NES does not increase your importance. But those three are good starters for inspiration. Best Team in the Subspace Emissary: Samus, Pikachu, Captain Falcon, Olimar, DK, and Diddy (honourable mention is R.O.B). Dedede, Ness, and Luigi come second. Best Series reps as a whole: DK and Kirby. So how do we make the other series feel as whole and complete as DK and Kirby?

I've watched the previous two games so this was my first time playing a Bayonetta game. I was worried about getting into its combat so I played in casual for most of it. Did play in standard later and it turns out I was doing well lol

The story and ending was..something tbh I expected a lot based on the past two. Still I had fun as a newcomer and I enjoyed the customizing.

I was surprised at how its a linear game and a pretty quick main story. And the missions are there to build more playtime.

the main story i liked, it was nice getting to know Zack and seeing characters from the og 7 in a different perspective.

I wish that the story slowed down, so to get to know other characters more esp ones that Zack meets for the first time (Cissnei, Aerith and Cloud) and parts that were just skipped/skimmed through like Costa del Sol vacation time or when Zack inherits the buster sword after getting back to Midgar etc.

I also liked pointing out stuff I can connect to the og 7 :D

I will say I had a lot of fun with K2, such as the cabaret club minigame coming back, taking a lot of selfies (esp in front of dead bodies - Killer Kiryu) and the Majima saga. But unfortunately so far it takes last place out of the RGG games for me.

The main story didn't have a focus on the multiple plots and just revealed all the plot twists at the end.

Ryuji, hes hot but I came to conclude that hes very overhyped. He didn't have that much screen time :/ If it weren't for his popularity and spin-off appearances, I would've forgotten about him.

And I think major of all of why its last place is THAT ending...what. Like really a fake bomb? And did they have to make out?

Gameplay wise it was fun. Really like how interesting it was to play as different people and how they experience Kamurocho in their own lives. Cool change to always playing as Kiryu and from Kiryu's pov. Akiyama and Tanimura were fun to play as especially Tanimura's radio thing which I found interesting. Saejima's section I felt was limited, I think the police guarding everywhere scared me away from doing his substories; so I ended finishing his part earlier compared to everyone :( (luckily I got to do his side stuff at the finale part)

And I realized at the end I struggled with switching and adapting between each character's style. Because of that I very stuffed up at the final bosses and stuffed up so bad that I forgot how to play as Kiryu..

The story is..interesting lol It is definitely soap opera-ish. I actually got into it at the start and the part where Hamazaki spilled the tea but because of the freaking rubber bullets twist I couldn't take it seriously towards the end like I even laughed and was just howling. There were scenes where it was just presented dramatically, like theres one where it zoomed into peoples faces with a sfx which instantly made me think of those Indian soap opera memes lmao

Very recently finished the main story. And honestly I forgot how the story goes lmao its a very long game. The character profile mind map from would've really helped and also summaries like in 0 too (which I'm guessing is an improvement since that came out after 5)

It was fun how each character came with a second game (such as Saejima's Hunting Simulator for the Nintendo Wii and Project Diva)

The enemy encountering is very annoying /: separate enemies being close by each other in the same area ughhhh

5.Final Fantasy XVI [PS5]

A bold and necessarily divisive take on Final Fantasy. Turn based? No. Bayonetta action set in a bleaker Fullmetal Alchemist-like world? Yes. Capcom set out to recontextualize one of the best games ever made; job done. RE4 remake is the best version of a cultural landmark. It’s everything that makes the series special and then some. Like RE4 OG, RE4R again provides the best entry point to the series. Supreme execution.

3.Alan Wake 2 [PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X]

Alan Wake 2 is the boldest big budget game of this generation. Its horror, both in the manifestation of actual monsters and the monsters we create when we create, is so unbelievably layered. AW2 is mad genius design. It's a game that requires your curiosity, pushes you into an ocean of strangeness and is constantly providing you delicious fragments that cohere from all angles. In short, a new horror classic is born.

2.Spiderman 2 [PS5]

Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman uses detailed icons that showcase different customisations. If you do not play this game some of these icons are not that clear. The 3rd one in particular is not obvious. The vehicles ones however are really clear.

Bayonetta 3

The icons across the top of this one are easier to understand but when you hover over or select it then changes it to black (easier to see) and adds the text with it.

I like the colour selection hub.

My design does not have a lot of space on the tabs so adding text may not be an option

Chicory: A colorful Tale

This is a much more fun style of UI. its clearly aimed at a younger audience.

The icons used here are more silhouettes f the actual item.

The hand drawn style is something that appeals to me.

Visually the design is a little confusing with so many options on the screen.

As my design is pixel art I may need to think about the clarity of the design and the icons to make mine less visually confusing as the above.

You guys, I have to admit something. I don't actually like Knack. It's just become this running gag, you know, with the original joke being the Playstation 4 launch. Pretty much all these games were also on PS3 and just as playable, except for Knack. A game so technologically advanced, it would annihilate the PS3's puny hardware limitations.
