once again, drawing my own fanart for my fics

my take on duke as the lords in black’s disciple, with his cat bart as his familiar. in a perfect world, both of their eyes would glow green. that is holloway’s jacket and he is holding the black blade. bart’s supposed to be an orange maine coon (i don’t really know how to draw cats)
this takes place after my fic “and i’m left here withering” if you’re interested
#hatchetfield#duke keane#lords in black#i thought duke deserved a little familiar if he had to be corrupted :)#bart is his cat’s name in my fic btw#he’s also corrupted#this is what i imagine as the only possible progression at the end of my fic#the devil has won it can’t be undone. the book has all but closed on your life after all#if you look closely there is an airpod in his ear

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We open on a newspaper office, having a party for a columnist named Walter Cromwell. He has been named American Columnist of the Year, and his editor gives a short speech. Walter's elderly mother is in attendance, as well. Walter accepts the award on behalf of all his coworkers, and gives a speech about responsibility he learned from his mother.
Later, Walter sends his mother home in a cab, since he has a column to finish. A coworker tries to get Walter to go for a drink, but Walter goes back in to work late.
The next morning, a young girl, Heather, goes out to play with her dog. Her mother tells her to come back soon and to avoid the river.
Walter finally leaves work after a long night, driving home tired and yawning and eventually dozing off. He swerves as he drives, flies off the road and into a clearing, hitting and killing Heather. He pulls the girl from under his car and lifts her up. The dog goes home without Heather, worrying her mother.
Credits roll.
A missing poster for Heather is on the pole outside Curious Goods, as inside we see a woman, Anne Holloway, thanking Micki for the items they are donating to the shelter she runs. Jack and Johnny are on a buying trip and will be home soon. Micki unpacks a figurine, which Anne remarks is beautiful. It's from the 18th century and Jack apparently bought a dozen of them. Anne asks if they are valuable and Micki says one of them is. Ruth Stevens, Heather's mother, enters. She has no news of Heather, but has new flyers to post. Anne also takes some, and Micki mentions Anne does counseling, but Ruth isn't interested and leaves. Micki tells Anne how much Ruth is hurting and the woman offers to check in on her.
Walter is at church, in the confessional. He admits to killing the girl but says it wasn't his fault and hid the body. The priest asks if he's gone to the cops, but Walter says he can't, he has to worry about his mother. He wants the priest to tell the cops where the body is, but he says he can't. The priest begs him to come clean, it is his only way.
At work, Walter's boss is irate at the bad writing Walter has been doing for the last week. Walter says he is working through something. His boss doesn't want to hear it and takes Walter off the payroll until he pulls himself together. Walter takes a drink.
Arriving at home that night, Walter hears his boss in is head an dreads facing his mother. He drops papers and when he stoops to pick them up he notices a cameo on a chain hanging from under his car. He pulls it free, realizing it is from the girl he killed. He hears her voice begging for help, and when he looks at the locket, the silhouette of the girl is speaking, begging to be set free.
Walter goes inside, still hearing her beg for help. His mother calls out to him, and the girl asks if his name is Walter. He drops the cameo into the garbage disposal and goes to check on his mother. He gives her her medicine and lies that he took time off to spend with her. She says she is so tired lately.
Later, Walter is pouring a drink and the girl from the cameo pleads with him, telling him she doesn't have to be dead. He fishes the undamaged cameo out of the sink, and tells her he could change things if he could. The girl tells him he can, if he kills someone else at the same place and time he killed her. She begs to live again, as mother again calls out for him.
Next day, Walter has brought his mother to the spot where he killed Heather. She is ill, cold and confused as to what is going on. He gives her the cameo as a present. His mother wants to know what is happening, and the girl tells him it is almost time and he has to kill her. Walter is confused, but grabs the blanket on his mother, covers her face and smothers her to death. Just then, Heather crawls from where he had hidden her and they come face to face before Heather runs off, scared.
Walter is putting his mother's body into the back of his car, as Anne happens to drive by and notice him with an empty wheelchair. Anne drives to Ruth's home to check on her, and the woman is still sure she will find her daughter. Ruth thinks she hears her daughter, and a very dirty Heather runs up, to the shock of both women.
At home, Walter puts his mother into her bed, covering her with the sheet. He takes another drink as he calls her doctor, telling him his mother passed in her sleep. He asks for help in sending someone over. As he takes another drink, he hears his mother calling for his help. He drops his glass. He knows he killed her, and when he checks, he sees she is indeed dead. But she is now on the cameo, begging him for help. He pulls it off her, saying it is not fair.
Heather is telling her mother and Anne about the big car that came at her, then remembers a man with an old woman, and thinks he killed that person instead. Heather realizes the cameo her grandfather gave her is missing. Her mother is just happy to have her daughter home, but Anne is puzzled.
Walter to goes back to the woods, telling his mother on the cameo that her time was almost up anyway. He drops it into an old well. Back at confessional, he tells the priest he has sinned again, but not as bad. He tells the man that the girl lives, but he traded another life for hers. The priest tells him he needs help, but Walter thinks it is all good now. He then hears her mother's voice and talks back to her. He leaves, walking the street looking disheveled and talking to himself. A cop watches. Walter goes in to the homeless shelter.
Inside, he notices all the men, who are alone in the world. Anne is there, and introduces herself to Walter. He goes to leave, but she backs off. Walter continues to hear his mother, and yells at her, drawing some attention. One man goes to tell him if they hear him, they'll take him to "the farm." The man, Bill, says he just got out of the farm. Walter offers him a cigarette. Bill asks if Walter knows of a place to sleep tonight, since the shelter only offers the floor. He does, but when Bill goes to tell a friend, Walter stops him, saying it isn't big enough for more. Bill goes with Walter as Anne watches.
Walter climbs down the well and retrieves the cameo as Bill sleeps in his car. His mother's voice warns him it is almost time. He gets Bill from the car, leading him to the spot he killed the girl and his mother. He gives the cameo to Bill, then looks for a big stick. As Bill realizes he can't let go of the cameo, Walter hits him with a branch, killing him.
At the same time, at the mortuary, the mortician is beginning the embalming process on Walter's mother, who shocks the man when she wakes up screaming.
The doctor arrives at Walter's house as Walter rushes out, asking where his mother was sent. The doc, in shock, tells him his mother just died this morning, while being embalmed. Walter is aghast, and very confused.
Later, walking the streets, Walter is now hearing Bill beg for help via the cameo. He bumps into his boss, and tries to get away. His boss heard about his mother and offers to help. Bill still calls out to him, so Walter walks off.
Back in the shelter, Walter is confronted by Bill's friends, who want to know what Walter did with him. Walter tries to go and they rough him up and hit him until Anne breaks it up. Walter, his glasses broken, goes with Anne. She bandages his face and gets him some food. He still hears Bill's cries for help. Anne asks what's wrong, knowing he doesn't belong there. He tries to leave, but she offers help, asking if he hurt Bill. Walter says Bill is around and will be back tomorrow. He sobs as Anne tries to help, telling him we all make mistakes, and to admit what happened, go back to where it all began. Walter rushes out and Anne sees him pull down one of Heather's missing posters.
At confessional, Walter says he is going to the police tomorrow, but first he has to put things right. The priest offers prayers and Walter leaves.
At home, Heather and her mother are playing, unaware Walter is watching from outside.
At the shelter the next day, Ruth calls Anne saying that Heather is gone again. Anne says she'll be right over. Walter has taken Heather back to the same spot he killed her in, and tells the voice of Bill it'll be okay. He gives Heather her cameo back. Anne is driving to see Ruth and spots Walter's car on the side of the road and pulls over.
Walter tells Heather he didn't mean to hurt her. Heather notices the cameo has a different silhouette on it. Anne calls to Walter, looking for him. Walter checks the time and picks up Heather, hiding them both. Anne continues looking, saying she just wants to talk. He holds up a finger to Heather to be quiet. But Heather sees the well and has a memory of crawling out of it. She yells and jumps up and runs to Anne. Walter goes to get her, still holding the cameo. He tells Anne he has to kill Heather to make things right. Bill's voice tells him to kill Anne instead. Anne tells Heather to run and then stumbles. Walter is confused, telling Anne he didn't mean to kill anyone. He says he's sorry and picks up a bottle, breaking it to a sharp point. Anne screams, but Walter cuts his own throat, killing himself. Anne checks on him and finds the cameo in his hand. Just then Bill stumbles out, confused. Anne leads him away.
At Curious Goods, Micki is holding the cameo and searching the manifest. Anne asks if it is something Micki would want and, having found it listed in the book, Micki says yes. Anne lies and said a homeless person gave it to her, and that it fit the kind of items Jack said they look for. She offers it free of charge for all the donations they've made. Micki asks if Anne heard about Ruth finding Heather. The phone rings and Micki answers to Jack. As Anne leaves, Micki says she got something back before it caused any problems. Hearing that, Anne stops and looks back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My thoughts:
I liked this one, even though it is quite sad and depressing.
The cameo is an interesting item with a unique curse. Walter really only had one way out in the end, since no matter who he killed to replace the last, the item would haunt him. He was doomed from the start. And besides his mother's unfortunate death via embalming shock, he was the only other victim, in the end.
A bit odd having Micki in only two scenes, and no Jack or Johnny, but maybe better than trying to twist the story to fit one of them in. Different, but glad it is mostly a one-off. I like having Micki and Jack, and Johnny, involved.
The guy playing Walter did a good job of slowly loosing it. More and more disheveled as his nightmare went on.
One odd thing is the lack of cops, with the girl missing. Even when she is found, it is Anne with Ruth, no cops. And when she goes missing again, Ruth calls Anne? Who she only just met and no cops? Weird.
Liked the little peek into how they find some of the cursed items, with Jack buying a dozen figurines, knowing one is the one they want and the rest will just be broken to look for that one unbreakable object.
Again, I liked this, but not as the norm. Prefer the group hunting together.
But Kate Trotter is great, isn't she? Love her scenes with Micki.

d&d as a tv show
Hey guys! So,i've seen this post of @mattsrodz called "hss as a tv show" and i miss my babies so much! I hope you guys like it 😅💗
It's based on a novel written 10 years after the happenings
It's actually written by the son of MC
The family helped with the cast
Ernest was supposed to be blonde but when the actor auditioned,both writers and family loved it and decided to change that on the script
Duke Richards was the most difficult to find but when the actor appeared,they knew he was the one
The actress of Countess Henrietta irl is a softie
The MC was supposed to be white but the family agreed that a black lead female would give more plot and audience,plus they loved the idea of an empowered black woman in the Regency Era
The actor of Mr Chambers is openly gay and the actor of Mr Konevi is straight but doesn't mind to shoot scenes like that
In the scene where MC dances with Duke Richards the actress steps on him twice because she's giggling and the actor of the Duke says “It's OK,I have em worse”
The actor of the Duke wanted to portray him to understand men like that and reminded him of his abusive grandfather and he's a feminist ally
The actor of Mr Sinclaire and Dad are related and the actor of Vincent says “I hope MC ends with Ernest” meanwhile he laughs and says “We'll have to see about that”
The actor of Luke is a pranker and scares the MC hiding in her bed and pulling her beneath him
The actress of Annabelle is counsin of the actor of Hamid
The grandmother and the bishop are the mom and dad of the cast
The actress of Briar is very similar to that character and sometimes they call her “Briar 2000”
Once,Briar and MC confessed they practiced the makeouts with each others for the MC and Annabelle scenes and because the actors of Mr Woods and Marlcaster are very embarrassed to do it but when on set they are more connected
It takes 4 hours to make the perfect hair of MC and one hour to dress the underwear of both women and men
Hamid and Ernest are fans of Endless Summer and Annabelle and Briar are fans of High School Story
The actress of Mama taught MC how to sing because she used to sing in bars
On season one,they filmed the grandmother announcing both engagements with the Duke and her true love so the crew don't spoil it to the tweetchat after filming
Actually,Luke auditioned for Ernest and Ernest for Luke but the showrunner decided to put them in their actual roles
Ernest read secretly on Tumblr and Wattpad his stories with his character and sometimes laughs and another blushes for the ideas of the fandom
The actor of Hamid is half Moroccan half British meanwhile MC is from Guinea
Actually,Annabelle is Latina
Everyone cried when Vincent died
They all got cheerful when they got renewed for a second season
The only ones who read the book were MC,Ernest and Mr Chambers
When filming sex scenes,MC didn't stopped laughing and all the LI neither because MC's laugh is very funny and took hours to film one straight scene
Felicity teases Ernest calling him Mr Darcy

L. Jacks & T. Holloway - “Intro” International Blunt Funk Compilation 1997 G-Funk / Hip Hop
This is such a vibe. Short-lived and half-baked (in more ways than one), sure, but still a vibe nonetheless. The sound of g-funk—those Parliament/Funkadelic syrup-haze whines that get placed over trudging drumbeats—will always sound so fucking cool, no matter how middling or bland the lyrics that accompany it might be.
Here's just three Bay Area dudes fleshing out a THC-soaked intro for this local, g-funk-filled comp for 1997. It's easygoing, free-flowing, and maybe even partially ad-libbed. Rappers L. Jacks (aka BA or Bart from Oakland group 3X Krazy) and T. Holloway trade smatterings of bars as producer Ali Malek proceeds to match the clouds of weed-smoke that were no doubt yielded while making this track with his own adjoining clouds of looped-up vocals.
Sweet tone-setter for this blissed-out Bay Area release from the late 90s.

Road Trip (Chambers x Konevi modern AU) - part one
A/N: I know it took me a long time to finish this (for a few reasons) but it’s here. This was really fun to write but I don’t know if it will be as fun to read. So please let me know if I should post future parts of this mess when I’m done with them.
The whole idea is just a bunch of little stories with an introduction (this part) and an end. And a lot of tropes and cliches. Hope you'll still enjoy!
Words: 1776

“Please tell me you have ice cream.” weren’t exactly the words Annabelle was expecting to hear when she opened her door on a Friday night.
So after almost thirty minutes of watching her friend trying to pretend he “just wanted to hang out” while emptying her freezer of anything that contained enough sugar, she began to lose patience.
“What’s going on, Bart?” she asked, loudly enough to get his attention over the tv.
“I already told you…”
“Bullshit.” she cut him off before taking a deep breath and smiling gently. “You know I don’t have anything against you hanging out at my place. But I know that’s not the reason you’re here. So talk.”
He bit his lip and looked into the ice cream bucket in his hand as if it was the perfect place to find his answer. Then he just sighed, muting the show they were just watching.
“I saw Yusuf today.”
“Oh.” Parsons tilted her head. “How is he?”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know? You didn’t talk?”
“No.” Chambers pointed towards rack in the hallway he could barely see from his spot. “I also kinda stole his jacket.”
“What are you talking about?”
“The green one. Well, technically I didn’t steal it. He gave it to me so I could chase my bus and yelled that I can give it back later.”
“So what’s the problem?”
“I think he changed his number last year and probably forgot I don’t have a new one. So if I don’t find him myself, this stolen jacket is staying with me.”
“It’s not stolen.”
“Yeah. And it’s a nice jacket.”
“It is. So why do you have it again?” Annabelle would be lying if she said she wasn’t a little confused.
“Long story. In short, it was pouring rain earlier today and I was hiding under this tunnel with a bunch of people when I saw my bus. And I had two options – I wait however long it takes for the weather to calm down or I run for it to the nearest bus stop. Which would be far enough if there wasn’t a flood coming from the sky.”
“Why do I feel like you're being a little dramatic?"
“Hey, I didn’t have an umbrella. Or even a coat. Only this t-shirt.”
“Coward.”
“Shush. So I’m trying to make the decision when I feel someone tap me on the shoulder.”
“And by someone you mean Yusuf?”
“Yes, I mean Yusuf. I’m trying to add a little suspense to the story but since you don’t appreciate it then I give up.” he glared at his friend getting a chuckle in return. “He gave me his jacket and told me to run because he can wait. And then I caught the bus and came here. The end.”
“What do you mean the end? Why didn’t you stay there and talk to him? Ask when did he come back?”
“Yeah, I thought about it myself. Already sitting in the bus.” he sighed. ”Everything was happening so fast.”
“Kinda sounds like a plot of a bad fanfiction.” she joked, earning another glare.
“Glad you find my life funny.”
“Wait. I mean, you know he’s in town. So finding him shouldn't be that much of a problem.”
“I don’t know if he’s back for good. And we’re leaving tomorrow so he might be gone before we go back.”
“And if he isn’t, I’ll help you find him. Come on, you can’t be moping around at Lucy’s wedding.”
“I have a whole week before the actual ceremony.” he smiled slightly, feeling a little better. The groom was grumpy enough for the whole group so maybe he should focus on balancing it out. “Luke’s driving, right?”
Annabelle furrowed her brows at him.
“Wait, you mean they didn’t tell you?”
“Tell me what?”
“Briar asked if we could add Edmund to our car and he was supposed to call you and ask if you two could switch…”
“Oh.”
“Shit. We can kick him out tomorrow, Briar can live without…”
“No, no, it’s fine. I don’t mind,” he assured. No need to make a fuss about something so petty. “So who’s in the other car?”
-
Sitting in the backseat and being squeezed in between Theresa and Felicity wasn’t his best Saturday morning but it certainly wasn’t the worst one either. After all, he could’ve ended up like Arthur, gripping the steering wheel while trying to answer to Mr Westonly’s attempted conversations as politely and loudly as possible.
“Why are we even going all the way to Grovershire for this? Like the couldn't have chosen anything closer to home.” the blonde muttered, tapping her nails against her purse.
“But Lucy always wanted to get married in the same church as her parents did,” the grin appeared on Theresa's face as she was almost jumping in her seat. “It’s just so romantic when you think about it.”
“And cliche. I’m surprised Ernest even agreed to that nonsense.” a hint of a smile tugged on the corners of Holloway's lips, indicating she was starting an argument more out of boredom than anything else.
“I’m sure he thought it was a great idea…”
The ladies continued their banter so Bart just sighed and focused on the road. They left early enough to avoid too much traffic and he was thankful for that. Everything seemed so calm outside. On the inside, however…
“Young man, would you stop at the gas station? I need to stretch out these old legs.” Mr Westonly asked suddenly. Bart was initially pretty surprised that the old man was going with them but he was one of the very few family members Ernest had left so he decided to not even question it. Whatever made his friend happy.
“I was hoping we could go a little more without stopping so we could…” Arthur began to explain but was cut off by Felicity.
“Oh, come on, they can wait. I will not spend another hour in this car.”
"But..."
"Now."
So they stopped. A ten-minute break on the gas station before hitting the road again. That’s what they agreed on.
So imagine Bartholomew’s surprise when after returning from the bathroom, the car was gone. Nowhere in sight. Its previous spot completely empty.
They left him.
But that’s okay. He can just call them and ask what the hell happened, right?
He grabbed his phone from his pocket so quickly it almost dropped. Good thing he at least kept it in his jacket because his backpack and all of his other things were still in Wood’s car. But that’s okay, he was just going to call them and…
… and his phone was dead. Fantastic.
He kicked a nearby pebble in frustration. How the hell did they not notice he was gone? And should he just stand there in the hope they’d come back or find another transport?
He decided to wait for a few moments. It’s not like he had anything better to do.
-
Chambers sat on the sidewalk, watching the passing cars and getting more annoyed with each second. That was getting ridiculous. He always wanted to believe in people’s best intentions but how do you just forget about a person like that?
The gas station was pretty much in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the woods. Aside from the store and small parking with barely any cars, there wasn’t really much for him to do or go to.
Going for a walk, while tempting, was out of the question. Even if his friends didn’t come back for him, he would probably get lost in the unknown forest and that was the last thing he wanted that day.
He finally stood up. Moping around won’t get him anywhere. Asking around for directions to the nearest form of transportation was probably a better option.
Turning around towards the store, he suddenly heard his name.
“Bart?” a black car stopped right next to him and a familiar face peeked through the window. “What are you doing here?”
“Hi!” he waved, trying to look as casual as possible. Almost three years without him and now they’re running into each other every day. “I’m just looking around. How about you?”
“Just getting gas.” Yusuf smiled at him and his heart fluttered just like years ago when they first met. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Yeah. Not really.”
“Do you want to talk about this?”
“No, it’s fine. You’re driving somewhere and I don’t want to stop you.”
“I’ve got time. Just give me a minute to park.”
-
“How the hell could they forget about you?”
“I have no idea.” Chambers mumbled, sitting next to him on the sidewalk and munching on one of the ice cream sandwiches they've just bought. “And right now I’m left with nothing because all of my things are in the car."
“You don’t have anything?”
“I have some cash in my pocket but it’s not much. And my phone but it’s useless because the charger is in my backpack. Next to your jacket, actually.” he sighed. “Thank you for that, by the way. And sorry I can’t give it back to you yet.”
"Don't mention it. It's not your fault that you were abandoned." Yusuf nudged him lightly. "Why did you even brought it with you?"
Because it's yours and I wasn't going to just leave it at home for so long.
"I was thinking maybe you were going to the wedding too."
"Oh, I just found out about it from you." Konevi laughed and Bart could feel his cheeks get a little bit warmer. "I haven't really had a chance to talk to anyone yet so they probably don't even know I'm back."
"I'm sure they'd be happy to see you."
"I wouldn't want to show up uninvited." he stood up, dusting off his jeans and throwing the wrapper into the bin. "I could make sure you get there though."
“Really?”
“Of course. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I just left you here alone. And I'm going in the same direction anyway.” he grinned and extended his hand, helping Chambers stand up as well. "If you don't mind spending so much time with me, that is."
"That sounds... perfect."
Yusuf grinned again and got into the car, quickly joined by the other man.
"Are you sure you don't mind? The ride to the Grovershire is pretty long." Chambers asked, just to be sure, though he couldn't stop the hopeful smile from appearing on his face.
"I have time and good company. Everything I need." he chuckled, starting the car. “Besides, I really want that jacket back.”

It’s a bit surprising that you think mr chambers is younger than mr sinclaire, I always thought he was older !
So, Mr. Chambers is actually someone I debated myself about quite a bit. Realistically, he could be anywhere from mid twenties to early/mid thirties. It’s a fact that people in the gentry, while they may have entered the marriage mart in their late teens to early twenties normally didn’t marry until their mid to sometimes even late twenties. Men who weren’t as wealthy would actually spend these years toiling non-stop to create something that would attract a wife, hopefully one who came from money, and make them more marriageable by their early thirties. This is not the case for Mr. Chambers as he has an estate of his own, or some type of holdings, that make him £2000 a year. That’s a significant sum, that’s what Mr. Bennett’s (from Pride and Prejudice) estate made him each year. The issue with Longbourn in P&P was that it was entailed (a stipulation that requires it go to the closest male in the family) and could not be divided among his daughters, not that they were broke as some people sometimes get confused.
You weren’t deemed a confirmed bachelor until you started to age a bit. This term is actually used by Miss Holloway to describe Duke Richards at the beginning of Book Two. A confirmed bachelor would be someone who seemingly aged out of the marriage mart, who didn’t seem to have any interest in settling down, who had plenty of seasons under their belt and opportunities to find someone, and was beginning to age. This is not a term that would be used to describe Mr. Chambers.
To arrive at Bart’s age, which is a total head canon of my own and not rooted necessarily in anything PB has said, I assumed that Bart, while once before engaged, really does not seem to be feeling super pressured into marriage at the moment. If he was perhaps a bit older, he might start feeling like that, as there were certain assumptions made about “confirmed bachelors” and definite societal consequences to being one. Suspicions of homosexuality could surround one who was a bachelor for an extended period of time, less than rumors of lesbianism surrounded women who were spinsters. Society was essentially structured around the conjugal family household. Bachelors were considered to be “vermin of the state” and contributing nothing to society and the betterment of it. They even had to pay higher taxes and anyone working in their households had to as well, resulting in the need of a bachelor to pay his staff more. Being a bachelor was expensive. In the late 1700s a servant in a normal household may make £1, 5 shillings per year, the bachelor tax required them to double their servant’s wages so the staff would come out even.
Bart offers his marriage proposal, it seems, merely as a way to help a friend out of a difficult scenario. Any benefit to him is presented as an after thought. This to me indicates not only that he’s the Regency version of a sweet gay angel, but that he’s simply not feeling the pressure of getting married yet. He has plenty of years to find and settle down with a nice lesbian, which is what many gay men of the time did.
