One of my favorite Neopets' NPC characters has got to be Apple Bobbing Bart because he just seems like a normal shady carnie, which weirdly enough isn't as uncommon of a Neopets character trope as you would expect

Except the lore around him is that there is Something Very Wrong With His Hat. Every time something about this character comes up they hint at Something going on with the hat. And they've literally never explained what

The Littlest Strongman in Kansas: After two kindhearted carnies discover a baby boy under mysterious circumstances, they recognize his unusual abilities. He may be the only thing keeping them from losing their friends and family's beloved carnival show.

A Stone's Throw: AU where Jason is resurrected but doesn't recover his memory or get found by Talia.

Borrowed Dreams: Bart's foster father, Max, struggles to find common ground. (No powers AU, aged down, inspired by Martian Child)

It Takes A Village: Cassie, Tim, Cissie, and Conner realize Bart is a serial killer, and instead of turning him in, they scramble to help him cover up his crimes. (No powers AU, dark comedy)

The Change Raiser: AU where Jason makes a living running scams.

This sort of thing can even happen anywhere. I was recently reminded of an example that comes from the Simpsons:

Season 9: Bart Carny. The joke in this scene is that Wiggum is asking for a bribe from Homer, and Homer is failing to understand. At this point in the conversation, Wiggum should be placing his hand on top of the box containing the money. The colouring department has apparently decided otherwise.

believe me i will give them to yall but the background story would max out the character count for asks ten times over. I DID almost get got by the simpsons bit in the episode bart carny where bart and homer go to the carnival and invite the carnies to stay with them and then the carnies buy them glass bottom boat tickets as a thank you and when the simpsons come back from the boat the carnies have stolen their house.

Sporky’s LPoH: “Creative” Process

Lately, I’ve been thinking of scenes from “The Simpsons” in the context of how I’d relate it to the craptacular retconning done to Cassandra Cain. It’s something I’ve done before, and several ideas have popped into my head since then. I don’t know if it’s because I discovered Frinkiac (told about it by someone who shall remain nameless because HE KNOWS WHY, DAMMIT!!!), or because this year is Cassie Cain’s 20th anniversary...oh, let’s be honest, it’s both.

But because of serious malaise/depression/apathy/anhedonia, I haven’t much had the motivation to flesh more of them out. But I found a little today, just enough to make this.

Marge has an appropriate expression.

Scene from the episode “Bart Carny”, wherein the Simpsons take in a father-and-son carnies. I thought about ‘shopping Tynion’s head on Cooter’s body, but that felt too mean (even though I’ve been feeling extra-mean about a lot of things lately). I also considered slapping the DC logo on Cooter’s face or hat or shirt, but I didn’t feel it was necessary. In the last panel, instead of trying to airbrush out the cigarette smoke, I just colored it a little browner...for obvious reasons.

Maybe I’ll do more later, I dunno. I don’t own DC Comics or The Simpsons.
