i am guilty of gravitating to white musicians / not doing enough to counter the western music industry's prioritising of white music but i am also the kid of a guy who was frequently the only white person at a gig cuz he has been listening to african music of basically every genre since his twenties & it is jarring to be reminded when it comes to white english men he is the exception. what do you mean your dad just listens to the rolling stones. not one of their influences? not a single one of their many and varied musical influences?

Adeolu Osibodu
"Adeolu Osibodu (B .1997) is a Photographer/Photo-Artist from Lagos, Nigeria. Based in London, United Kingdom. Adeolu, from a young age has constantly been drawn between dreams and ideas. Inspired by life and his experiences, Adeolu witnesses moments in time that express a sense of multi reality, hallucination and a feeling of lost memory. His work with images portray a peculiar notion of the fleeting of time with an underlying regard for sentiment. From age 18, Adeolu began to use photography as his tool for self expression portraying moods and thoughts that are often left unsaid. He also works on commissioned and commercial projects with select brands and bodies."

Personally one of my favourite photographers, the work he does i'm in awe the way he captures light. As shown on this last image, physically holding the light is one of my favourite photographs from him and captures the brief theme perfectly. I intent to take inspiration from him by literally holding the light and is a step I can take going forward in my summative.

‘When The Dust Settles’ is an absolute delight! It effortlessly blends the vibrant rhythms of West African Mandé with the fresh sounds of contemporary London jazz. Led by the talented Djembe player Yahael Camara Onono, Balimaya Project has created another album full of their imitable sound. There are also some outstanding contributions from Afronaut Zu, Obongjayar, and Fassara Sacko. All the way through, this was a joy to listen to and I’ll be pressing rewind on this musical journey over and over in the coming months.

‘This never happens!’ Designer transports audience with unique designs - ‘culture & style'
‘This never happens!’ Designer transports audience with unique designs – ‘culture & style’
Labrum London was founded by Foday Dumbuya in 2015, and the British African heritage brand is soaring in the fashion industry.  The stunning introduction from singer, Thabo, set the scene, and the sounds from the Mandé-Jazz band, Balimaya Project, set the tone. The drum, vocals and percussion moved through the air until the passengers were ready for take-off. Foday said: “I wanted to give people…
