yes there are the horrors but i can also open up livestreams of nest cams live across the world and have a moment of peace, sitting with a bald eagle nestled in a little donut of snow as they keep their eggs warm, and that’s what makes life worth it

I took this photo off the explore.org bear cams at brooks falls a couple of weeks ago of a bald eagle sitting on top of a tree along the river. I have seen quite a few eagles there this year including two with a nest that raised a family.

The new comic immediately reminded me of something I read years ago about a bald eagle throuple. Nest cam footage picked up a mated team consisting of two males and a female. At some point, the female left, but the males stayed together and even found a new third. Apparently they are extremely successful at raising young together! (I just googled Eagle Throuple and found a ton of articles about them, they live in Illinois)
this is gorgeous and amazing

birds!!!! I had a whitewater camp a few weeks ago and we were out one day and I found a rlly cool feather :3 it’s was super water resistant!! you could completely submerge it and it would come out still dry and sleek (I think it was just from a mallard duck)
the river where I live also has a crazy huge osprey population - we even have a live cam set up as !! you can see them out all the time it’s sm fun. lots of bald eagles, too (they have a GIGANTIC nest on a bunch of network towets) and even some cliff sparrows on a bridge :o there’s so many of them
we see lots of cormorants and herons out too, tons of geese as well (babies!!! saw some the other day they’re so precious) and the rare red tailed hawk tooo ee :3 /pos
yeah!!!!! mallard ducks (and most water birds) have powdered down feathers which means the little pieces of down flake off and cover the vane feathers and that’s what makes them waterproof, which is actually one of the biggest issues waterfowl face in regards to water pollution because it can severely damage that down, making the feathers becoming quickly waterlogged and the bird drowns :(((
but ahhhhh I love hunting birds so much- im staying at my uncles house rn and he lives in rural New Hampshire so there’s tons of hawks, bald eagles, and osprey around and I was playing this game of trying to spot osprey nests on the tops of dead trees since that’s where they tend to build them. also I looooooove geese, they’re so adorable. And I was in Vienna a few weeks ago and there was a duck pond and there was a mom with a bunch of newborn ducklings 🥹🥹🥹

I ran across this live cam of an eagle’s nest in California. It is awesome to watch the Female and Male share the nesting duties for their 2 eggs. Most of the time it is just one of the eagles sitting on the nest but if you move the red process bar at the bottom of the video you can find times when both eagles are present.
The view from the nest is amazing !
Thank you so much!!!! I love live cams….this is so cool!🙂❤️
