2 | Thoughts from the Explosion Hero
Pairing: Various MHA x Fem!Reader
Dear Departure
The bass that pounds through the corridor is the only thing that guides Bakugou towards the chaos of the common area. With his hands in his pockets, his eyes scan the scene ahead. Never has he seen the area looking like this- neon lights painting the walls and ceiling, and students filling every single crevice of the space. He has to fight the urge to roll his eyes at the sight.
He'd come down because it was the last night he'll have to put up with the others, but the mixture of the crowd and noise was enough to make him feel as if he was drowning in his own skin.
Just a few more hours, and then he's free.
"Hey, Bakubro!" a familiar voice yells out from the kitchen. Bakugou's head snaps up in that direction, his scowl deepening when he notices it's just Kaminari rushing in his direction. "Glad to see you're joining us! It only took three years!"
"Shut up," Bakugou mutters, looking away. He tries to ignore how his cheeks heat up. "What is all this, anyway?"
"It's a graduation party," Kaminari laughs, slapping a hand against his shoulder. "Yaomomo wanted to do something nice for all of us, and well, it's pretty obvious the others agreed."
"Have you, uh, seen Kirishima?" Bakugou asks, scratching the back of his head as he looks around.
"Oh, yeah, he was over by the kitchen. Actually, I told him if I saw you, I'd bring you over. He wanted to talk to you, too," Kaminari shouts as he begins to guide Bakugou through the crowd, causing Bakugou's skin to crawl in distaste at being manhandled.
He's about to protest, but then he reaches the kitchen. "Huh," Kaminari frowns. "I could've sworn he said he would be here. Well, you could always check upstairs, y'know?"
"Whatever," Bakugou grumbles.
"Hey, wait, before you go we should have a drink together," Kaminari smiles softly. "It is our last night and I doubt you'll ever want to hang out with me again since you won't be forced to."
"Yeah, alright," Bakugou agrees rather easily. Kaminari's only partially right about what he'd said. Bakugou wouldn't be opposed to hanging out with Kaminari after graduation so long as he doesn't try to push his luck.
"Awesome! Here, I'll pour us both some shots," Kaminari grins. He begins pulling random bottles off the counter, glancing back at him as he pours something unreadable in a small plastic cup. "So, uh, have you heard back from any agencies yet?"
"A few," Bakugou shrugs. "Nothing official yet, though."
"Damn. You know, I haven't even heard from any," Kaminari snorts as he slides a shot over to Bakugou.
"You will," Bakugou nods just as Kaminari places the drink into his mouth. However, upon hearing Bakugou's words, the drink ends up spilling from his nose.
"Shit, I'm sorry," Kaminari coughs as he searches frantically for a tissue. "There must be something wrong with my ears."
"What are you talking about, dunce face?" Bakugou asks, looking confused as he picks up the drink he'd been given.
"Are you complimenting me?"
"No," Bakugou snaps, narrowing his eyes. "I was just telling you what I thought, you idiot."
Kaminari lets out a snort of laughter. "Man, all that time with Vlag King's daughter." And then he lets out a shiver. "I really have no idea how you had the balls to go out with her knowing who her dad is. I mean, there's so many reasons why you shouldn't have-
Bakugou feels his entire body freeze at his words. "Y/N and I aren't together anymore, you know that so stop bringing it up. Besides, the only reason why I dated her was because I had a feeling her dad wouldn't like me very much."
"Oh? Is that true?" Kaminari asks, raising an eyebrow. "Cause I can remember clear as day when Y/N came skipping up to me and some of the others telling all of us how you said you loved her."
Bakugou rolls his eyes, looking away. "Look, I was young and dumb back then, okay?"
"You're still young," Kaminari grins. "And-"
"Don't even," Bakugou interrupts, his glare returning.
Kaminari simply chuckles as he shakes his head.
"So, uh, about Kirishima," Bakugou then clears his throat, his words barely audible over the loud music. "Do you think he'll be back?"
Kaminari shrugs. "Hard to say. I mean, if you sit here long enough you're bound to spot him, right?"
Bakugou doesn't say anything back as he turns around and glares out into the crowd. A couple people meet his gaze and quickly disappear before he can recognize who they are.
"Hey, why don't you go look for him," Kaminari suggests, nudging him in the arm. "And anyway, I'm going to look for Jirou so I won't be here."
"Jirou?" Bakugou narrows his eyebrows but doesn't look back.
Kaminari takes that as a sign to begin blabbing about how much he's in love with the girl who doesn't share his feelings. Bakugou can't help but feel a bit bad, however, he's much more interested in finding Kirishima before night's end than listening to the boring details of Kaminari's unrequited love.
"Okay," he says simply once Kaminari finally stops to catch his breath.
"So, will you, uh, be alright?" Kaminari asks.
"Are you saying that I'm unable to handle finding one person in a room with a bunch of drunk extras?" Bakugou grumbles, turning slowly in his seat to face Kaminari.
"N-No," Kaminari gulps, "Of course not."
"Good," Bakugou stands, glaring. "Cause I'm going to sit here until I can find him."
"Right. Good luck, bro," Kaminari nods, giving him a thumbs up.
Bakugou simply sighs as Kaminari walks away from the kitchen for the second time within fifteen minutes. Bakugou, meanwhile, sits as still as a statue in the same seat where Kaminari had previously been before running off to the bathroom with a sick stomach.
Unfortunately, it's not Kirishima who he spots first. Instead, it's Y/N as beautiful as ever. She's wearing the most gorgeous smile on her lips as she and Hagakure hold hands and laugh about something.
Bakugou's heart aches a bit, but he can't look away.
He really did love Y/N. Part of him still does. But after the way things ended, he can't bring himself to ever talk to her again. He should have just been honest with her from the moment she asked.
Instead, he chose the coward's way out. And now he's the one sitting alone at a party, watching his stunning ex-girlfriend shake her hips in the same black dress he once took off of her in his dorm.
Bakugou's hand immediately drops to his lap, quickly covering the tightening in his pants before anyone can notice. And because he's so busy looking down at his erection, he doesn't notice Sero sliding into the seat beside him. "Oh, hey," Sero says, flashing him a quick grin. "What're you doing here?"
"Nothing," Bakugou states quickly as he stands up and turns his back to the tape hero. "I'm going to look for someone."
Sero's head tilts curiously. "Really? Who are you looking for?"
"Mind your own business," Bakugou growls, pushing his way through the crowd.

i've made quite the few AU's and talked about scenarios with my friend. I thought of the idea of Toru/Deku but it's only endgame cause i headcanon Toru's almost like Mina in the way that she just never really falls in love but she likes it when her friends are in love with eachother. She never really liked anybody in her class and once asked Todoroki out just to see what he would say, she doesn't have a interest in dating- that is until after the war Deku called her cute. Nothing is different about this from anybody saying this to her but he called her cute because from something else i headcanon that Toru is usually making a judging face at her friends when they speak to her but now that shes more opaque people can see her (i got that from this and i just love it) anyway Deku calls her cute and she gets embarrassed cause she was judging what someone was saying while he did it. He laughed and smiled at her. she forgot people could kinda see her there was nothing cute about that what she was doing. in fact it was kinda mean but he still found her cute somehow. This is what started it. Toru and Deku start spending a lot of time together cause at this point it's after the war ---- and they are... i need to give some context in this story they dont actually go back to school after the war cause Aizawa lets them graduate early so they can fight in the war but time moved differently in this AU so everyone is like 18-20 years old. they grauated when they were 2nd years and didn't get to be 3rd years. So class A they all live in a building called building A next to Building B which has class A and B in it but it's like one building with a separated housing but it's just like living in the dorms except they are all heroes now and they get up everyday and go help rebuild the broken buildings and do other hero stuff. Toru and Deku work together alot and Toru thinks Deku has a crush on her and she has a crush on him so before moving forward with this she ask Uraraka if its alright if she dates Deku cause she thinks Deku likes her. but she knows Uraraka and Deku have history so she asked her first. Uraraka asked Deku out previously in the past when they were still going to school (as 1st years) and he said no cause he wanted to stay friends with her only. Uraraka doesn't think Deku really likes anybody at this point cause shes seen him turn down a lot people including any of their friends who asked him out and he would just say no so she doesn't think Deku does dating (SHE ISNT THE BAD GUY IN THIS STORY IM SORRY IF IT SOUNDS THAT WAY LOL) Uraraka thinks he's just being himself because everyone can see what Toru looks like and he just thinks shes cute but not like wanna date her cute. Toru does go out with Deku and it goes well, they do inform Uraraka they are really dating and she's surprised but happy for them. at some point Toru is watching Deku and he's using his quirks to like keep himself going, he's hurting and she scolds him for this and mid sentence he stops using blackwhip which was helping him be able to walk around and he passes out right there and she catches him like "I SAID GO SIT DOWN IN A HOSPITAL BED AND THEN STOP USING YOUR QUIRK" they are so silly i love them. We've thought this so far like they have a little kid and raise him in the future, i dont remember what we agreed his quirk is but he has the tendency to not wanna wear clothes like his mom and he goes to UA. they are a lil happi fam its cute. ---- Another AU i came up with by myself is a no quirks exist Au where Deku is a art student and he goes to UA, he doesn't know anybody here and Mina is his roommate but he kinda falls in love with her the moment he arrives at the place but keeps quiet about it, she's very oblivious about his obvious crush on her. Mina is on the vollyball team and she goes to introduce Deku to her friends but Deku already knows Bakugo and they have a history, Kirishima is on the wrestling team and i haven't thought about what Sero and Bakugo do. I think Kaminari does coding i dont remember what Bakugo is doing.
omg okay this is a lot to process!! i was lost for a minute cause i was like who tf is torukjdfkjdfk and then realized it's hagakure when you talked about her being more visible now. but this is a cute idea/pairing, i do think deku is attracted to very different people (like not necessarily body or gender, just their energy and vibe) and tour seems like a very different person and i think deku would love to be around someone like her. can definitely see him catching feelings first but not doing anything about it cause he doesn't want to impose or cause any problems, so he tries to be normal, but it's izuku. he's not normal. toru notices it immediately and i love that she does, it's also nice to think about her navigating her life now that she can be a bit more visible to others, so i wonder how much she was used to not being noticed in contrast to now, especially with someone as observant as izuku, he probably gives her his full attention and she speaks and i think it could make her sooo self-conscious about it (not in a bad way!! just in a omg he's actually seeing me way). really like the idea of her and ochako talking about it, we love girl's girls here
about the second au, it reminded a bit of blue period?? can totally see izuku as yatora, i think bakugo and sero could be into sports, i read a fic once where bakugo as like a champion at pole vault ?? and that's so different and unique, i think it suits him

Class 1-A's Nicknames Pt. 1
ft. Aoyama, Mina, Tsuyu, Iida, Ochako, Ojiro, Kaminari, Kirishima, and Shouji. Their nicknames for you.
Tumblr media
Yuga Aoyama
This dramatic bitch
I think at some point he will have called you literally possible nickname
But he still has favorites so lets list those:
"Mon Amour"
"Mon Chou"
"Mon Chéri"
And a bunch of stupid attractive French shit like that, but those are his favorite.
He does put "My" in front of every nickname so have fun
Tumblr media
Mina Ashido
"Queen". Even if you aren't a girl, it's just constantly "YAAS QUEEN" whenever you do anything.
If you're a guy she does sometimes call you "King", just not as much as she says "Queen".
However if you are a girl she will call you "Mommy". In public. She has no shame.
Besides that she probably comes up with some weird ass nicknames that are endearing, but strange? Get used to it because you're getting a new one at least every month.
But back to regular nicknames, probably loves "Babe" and "Sweets"
Tumblr media
Tsuyu Asui
I don't feel like she'd particularly enjoy calling people pet names?
She'd probably just use your name, maybe a shortened version of your name
But you can tell there's love behind it so it's fine
Tumblr media
Tenya Iida
"Dear/Darling" are big ones
The very occasional "Prince/Princess"
He also uses "Love"
And the farther along your relationship the two of you are, the more comfortable he is with adding "my" in front of nicknames.
Tumblr media
Ochako Uraraka
She loves the nickname "Sweetcheeks" for both of you. You swap it like a child who's parents are divorced with split custody.
But when she doesn't have custody of "Sweetcheeks" she settles for "Sweetheart". She just loves talking about how sweet you are <3
And when he's feeling extra protective and ready to kill someone flirting with you she'll pull out the "Baby"
Tumblr media
Mashirao Ojiro
He's cute but probably doesn't use nicknames that much smh 🙄
But when he feels extra flustered, loving, or comfortable that's when he pulls out the nicknames
I asked some friends for their opinions for all of these and we mostly agreed on everyone but Ojiro was the first rift
They said he seems like a "Sweetie" guy but I hate that nickname so our middle ground is "Sweetheart"
He also likes "Love" n "My Love" which I am super on board with
I love him, he makes me doubt my lesbianism. Look at his cute lil smile and his big bonkers ugh I wish he was real
Tumblr media
Denki Kaminari
Has he forgotten your name? It sure feels like it sometimes.
You don't remember the last time he's said your name
Mina's nicknames are endearing and a little weird, his nicknames are either very endearing or VERY weird. No in between.
But in situations where he's nervous or a bit uncomfortable he just sticks to "Babe", he doesn't use the weird nicknames.
Probably gets you guys matching couples shit to wear or just use in day-to-day life. It's so cringe but he finds joy in it so just deal with it ig
Tumblr media
Eijiro Kirishima
100% a "Babe" man.
The other characters here use multiple nicknames but I feel like he just sticks to "Babe" no matter what. As much as I enjoy "Pebble" I just don't see him saying it for some reason. "Babe" just feels perfect for him and nothing else, just like you <3 Aww anyways
Tumblr media
Mezou Shouji
He's usually too nervous to call you buy any nicknames when you're near other people, maybe just a shortened version of your name
But in private I can imagine him saying "Thank you dear" to you at any chance.
Maybe even, dare I say it, "Love"
I really like the nickname "Love" lmao
Tumblr media
If you liked this, maybe try my last post, featuring Bakugou, Todoroki, Shinsou, and Aizawa! :]

Mysterylover Watches MHA: Season 5 Episode 14 "Season of Slash Ships"
So I have for the moment decided to just stop worrying and love the bomb (and his icy-hot and smashing boyfriends), and hope Bones pulls off MLA just fine. After all, this is my Origin Trio jam, may as well enjoy it.
Tumblr media
But first, Hawks and Dabi being Mistaken for Dating (but are they mistaken?) by a crowd of fangirls!
Tumblr media
LOL all this Hawks stuff makes absolutely no sense, I'm sure, to anime onlys. Poor confused folks watching rn. "WTF why did Hawks just murder Best Jeanist? Who is this mysterious shadow dude?"
Tumblr media
Anyway onto Deku being cute and adopting Endeavor on sight.
Tumblr media
Ah, callbacks. Remember the Sports Festival arc ya'll? God those were good times, I miss that arc. Haven't seen it in a while.
Tumblr media
I kinda love how when being brought back to meet Shoto's parents Deku is the Good Kid who is Immediately Approved of by all and Kacchan is the Bad Boy the folks don't approve of. Like Deku is the Betty Cooper to Kacchan's Veronica Lodge.
sadly without the cheer tryout kissing scene
Oh and speaking of the Wonder Duo!
Tumblr media
LOL Kacchan that couch pose. Why are you aiming your...you know what right at Deku?
Here's all Might giving them advice on their upcoming Work Study. Many fans have been trying to speculate on what Kacchan was supposed to learn from the Internship, since it isn't made clear what he learned as it is with Deku and Shoto. Most fans seem to agree he learned to want to make things up to Deku for how he treated him till the end of Season 3 (or 2, honestly; he mellows out to Deku a lot after the All Might fight), so he doesn't end up losing him the way Endeavor's shithead behavior lost him his entire family. Since Endeav is similar to him and all. I guess in that scenario Midoriya is All Might and Shoto is...IDK, Rei maybe? Though I bet Shoto sees himself as in danger of becoming the Endeav to Deku and Kacchan's collective All Might vibes.
Anyway there's a big scene with the trinity meeting Hawks and all having different funny reactions while he passes his coded message onto Endeav but I'm gonna jump ahead to the agency scenes.
Tumblr media
Bones apparently saw my post about how the trinity's reactions to Burnin show off their different sexualities and didn't like the implication that Deku is attracted to girls in any way, so decided on an angle that wouldn't show off his blush. You know what you're doing Bones.
Tumblr media
Bakugou meet Burnin. LOL he's so cute.
Tumblr media
And Deku's new role as Kacchan's "please honey we're in public" wife is definitely one of my favorite BKDK aspects. Partly because married, partly because Deku wants you to do better, dear. He expects more from you. Also because Deku does not take, and never has really taken, any of Kacchan's crap. He may love the guy (platonically or romantically I think that part is undeniable) but that doesn't mean he won't tell him off.
Tumblr media
This scene definitely ranks as one of Endeavor's all time sweetest moments. Guessing what Hawks is really up to cause he knows him so well. Because he's adopted (Because like BKDK he's dating his kid).

Note
hi, i know i literally just replied to one of your posts but the leaks are giving me Thoughts and i have no one else to share them with LOL but anyway here goes:
I think it'd be really cool if Bakugo were to be the one to 'save' Shigaraki (Tenko), while Deku ultimately defeats AFO. It would be satisfying bc of how much emphasis has been put on Shigaraki belittling Bakugo in favor of Deku, and with all the parallels that have been made between Deku and Tenko, I think it could actually be a redeeming moment if it were Bakugo, not Deku, who can reach little Tenko and show him the light. Kinda like a retribution for how he treated Deku when they were kids.
I mean it would probably be pretty jarring and it's not at all what I think will (or should, necessarily) ultimately happen, but I do think it'd be kinda sweet if it did ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tumblr media
no you are actually so right, and i agree ! when thinking about this battle, i've always kind of imagined bakugou v shiggy, it just seemed like it would work out that way ?? and — i could be misremembering — but i think even some artwork has paired them up in this way ?? like shouto v dabi; bkg v shiggy; deku v afo ?? so i've always kind of thought it would be bakugou to take shigaraki down — or however it will end in his case.
but that's a really good point, it would be so interesting to see bakugou quote-unquote save shigaraki 🥺 bc there have been so many parallels to deku !! and i didn't even think about that, but why did shiggy have to come at our man so hard 😂🤔 straight up DID NOT care about bakugou as an enemy — maybe that is indicative of something greater to come 🤔 maybe bkg will prove himself 🤔 good thought !!
also responding to your comment !!
sigh. logically, i can't make any sense of why horikoshi would kill him off. yes, i understand that it's war and things happen and life ends abruptly and this is the ugliness but — bakugou ? certified fan favorite ? who has made so much progress and development and has come so far from where he was as a grumpy kid ? he's killing him off before he can reach his dreams of being a hero, getting that approval and signature from all might, like ?? that's just cruel, i think. and maybe i'm being a baby, but it just doesn't seem. fair. and i know that's life, but —
idk. yesterday, i was in walmart for something and i walked by that little display where they have the posters, you know ? and someone had left it open to a my hero poster, and it was like deku, bakugou, shouto, iida, ochako all together with their like trope-y personalities; deku was smiling and all plus ultra ! and bakugou was behind him being a grump and — idk. i honestly can't remember all the little details, but i remember most pointedly walking by it thinking: these are just kids. and it just can't end this way for him. it just can't.

Kacchan & Deku: Win to Save and Save to Win - A circular path of parallels (part 1)
Tumblr media
Okay so it had probably already been talked to death by now, but i'd like to write a detailed list of how Midoriya and Bakugou's respective paths are and had always been paralleled since the beginning. And it's not just with the whole "save to win and win to save" thing, which is the most obvious textual part of it, but there are a lot of more subtle hints along the way too. I mean in nearly every single arcs, for each of Midoriya development, Bakugou had one too (albeit in a completely opposite direction).
This post is also partly in response to some anime-only fans who complained about Bakugou's development in the Joint Training Arc coming from the left field... Which actually isn't? Like Kirishima said it had never been as obvious before but there were definite hints about it and I'll try to show them as thoroughly as possible in this post.
Warning ! This post will be quite long and will contain Manga Spoilers up to chapter 317 in part 3!
¤ From the Pre-UA era To Deku vs Kacchan: their starting lines
Tumblr media
(more under the cut)
When I said that the parallel started early, I really meant early. In fact, it started as early as the very first panel they were in.
Tumblr media
I think it is very telling that the first time we saw them, Midoriya is trying to defend another kid, while Bakugou is seen using his quirk (and actually introducing the reader/viewer to the whole concept of quirk in the first place). It tells us right here, right then on the very first second, that Midoriya Izuku is physically weak but a savior at heart and Bakugou Katsuki has a strong quirk but is a bully asserting his dominance.
This of course led to diametrical beliefs on what a hero is and should be and we've got those two very iconic moments to illustrate:
Tumblr media
And of course it reflected into their behaviors, even as kids.
Tumblr media
What I find really interesting in the way those flashbacks were presented is that Midoriya's saving moment was told through Bakugou's POV, while Bakugou's winning side was seen through Midoriya's eyes.
Those moments were deemed important because they deeply impacted the witnessing party and not actually the "wining/saving" one.
(I think someone commented once that while the river scene was highly pivotal for Bakugou, Midoriya probably doesn't even remember it. And likewise Bakugou probably doesn't remember fighting and winning against some random older kids, but Midoriya definitively does. And I totally agree!)
At those moment both Bakugou and Midoriya saw in the other something that they were clearly lacking and their reactions to this realization were wildly different as well.
"He doesn't take himself into account, you know. Something doesn't feel right. It makes me wanna keep him at arm's length. Back then, I ignored my own weakness, so I ended up bullying him" - Bakugou Katsuki
"You who had so many things I didn't have... To me, you were an amazing person much closer than All Might! That's why I keep chasing after you!!" - Midoriya Izuku
Midoriya saw this amazing kid kicking ass with his strong quirks and his first reaction was admiration and wanting to get as close as possible to this person, because he was all too aware of his own weakness and shortcoming.
Bakugou saw this selfless kid trying to help him and displaying qualities that he didn't have and his first reaction was to lash out and push that kid as far away as possible because he didn't want to recognize his own weaknesses and shortcomings.
Which, you know, probably describes their entire childhood dynamics haha...
... and then the sludge villain happened.
And it brought with it the iconic "My legs moved on their own" and "Your eyes were begging for help" moments which we all know about of course, but this scene also had another more immediate parallel that I'd like to talk about.
Tumblr media
Bakugou tried to fight the sludge villain on his own but ultimately failed to win.
Midoriya tried to rescue Bakugou on his own from the sludge villain but ultimately failed to save him.
The sludge villain was a reality check for both of them, in a "Nope kiddos, you might aspire to be heroes, but you still have a very long way to go. Here let's insert an All Might to show you just how far away your goal is," kind of way?
Anyway fast-forward 10 months of intense training to prepare for the UA entrance exam.... and really do I even have to mention this?
Tumblr media
I mean the only way it could have been even more textually obvious is if Midoriya had been ranked sixth instead of seventh so that his name would be right next to Bakugou's... like there's even this panel explicitly pointing everything out.
So yeah... nothing to add there, *shrugs*
After that came the Quirk Assessment Test:
Tumblr media
I'm going to come back to this later on in a more detailed way, but regarding their personal development; Midoriya's development is external while Bakugou's is internal. And I don't quite consider the quirk assessment test as "progress" for any of them yet because both of them sort of completely miss the point.
Aizawa told Midoriya "How can you save anyone if you can't move after one hit?" which had the underlying message of "It's not okay to hurt yourself"... But Midoriya totally went like, "Okay then I'll just hurt myself in a way in which I can still move afterward!" So yeah he is just sidestepping the problem here, but well there probably wasn't anything else he could do here.
As for Bakugou, he had always feel threatened by Midoriya's presence, but not in a fighting skills context. They are not really competing on the same field and it had never occurred to Bakugou that Midoriya could really beat him in a one-to-one fight.
As hilarious as the thought of Bakugou truly believing that somehow Deku had managed to take head on building-high robots quirkless is, I think what really happened is... Bakugou saw his own 0 rescue points and thought "Oh... so that's how Deku got in. Damn nerd probably went and save shitty extras left and right!". Which is a more realistic feat to manage quirkless. Anyway my point is, Bakugou realizing Midoriya isn't quirkless should have been a "Shit! He's leveling the field and standing on my playground now!" moment...
But no, what overpowered him here is the thought that the whole time Midoriya had been hiding his quirk from him and went like "What? Am I not good enough for you to use your quirk on me?! STOP LOOKING DOWN ON ME!!! EXPLAIN YOURSELF RIGHT THE FUCK NOW, SHITTY DEKU!!"
So yeah... kind of missing the point too.
Which is why the quirk assessment test wasn't really their starting point but more like them trying to look for it but missing it?
Speaking of starting lines... Let's move on to the Deku vs. Kacchan first round.
Tumblr media
B"From watching the match, it appears Bakugou acted n to surpass Bakugou, All Might pointed that those were the first passionate emotions Midoriya had shown other than "I want to be a hero!". This was the very first moment where Midoriya's desire to win was stronger than his desire to save.
As for Bakugou, this was the moment where he truly he realized that Deku is a threat and not just through his natural heroic/saving disposition like before but on the battlefield which used to be 100% Bakugou's area of expertise. And if even with his non-existent control of quirk Deku had managed to win to such extent, what would happen when Deku managed to truly master his own quirk? Total defeat?! Bakugou is self-aware enough to realize that while his own fighting skills and quirk mastery could still progress, they were already near the top with a not wide enough margin for improvement.
This was the moment where Bakugou realized where he truly stood compared to everyone else around him and that if he wanted to reach the very top again, then only relying on his fighting skills and his quirk control would never be enough. This is what prompted out his feelings of "I have to change or I'll be left in the dust".
And since Deku went and encroached on Bakugou's playground and beat him in the process, there's no way in hell Mr Complete and Irrefutable Win over there wouldn't aim to do exactly the same at some point.
Anyway the two gifs above showed us their motivation to reach their respective Win/Save side of the spectrum, but they both have big issues they need to work on in order to do so.
"From watching the match, it appears Bakugou-san acted on his own because of an obviously personal grudge. As as All Might-sensei said previously, it is foolish to launch a large-scale attack indoors.
In the same way, taking into consideration the damage he received, Midoriya-san's plan was also rash." - Yaoyorozu Momo
Yaoyorozu's analysis was super spot on and hit straight where their weaknesses lie: Bakugou needs to stop acting on his own and learn to cooperate with/trust his teammates and Midoriya needs to stop hurting himself/self-sacrifice and learn to properly control his quirk.
Both of them also have these super heavy shackles that keep pulling them down and impeding their progress at every turn:
Bakugou's complex feelings and emotionally explosive baggage towards Midoriya that makes him go feral and irrational at the drop of a hat and clearly prevents him from properly considering Midoriya as the rival that would keep pulling him up
Midoriya's total and utter idolization of All Might that gives him a tendency to imitate his idol and clearly prevents him from properly realizing and unlocking the potential of his own quirk
And at that point, they clearly don't realize how cumbersome those shackles could be if left unaddressed too long.
Tumblr media
Anyway... this episode/chapter was called "Bakugou Katsuki: Starting line", but I think it can be considered both their starting lines, because this is when they were made aware of what they are lacking and showed their resolve to change.
Midoriya's progress and development is intrinsically linked to his quirk mastery and fighting style, which are inherently physical skills (which is where Bakugou's excels in). It stands to reason then that his progress would therefore be very flashy, hard to miss, and highly praised due to the external aspect of his development.
On the other hand Bakugou's progress and development hinges on him properly getting in touch with his emotions and connecting to other people in healthy way, which are inherently inner-strength qualities (which Midoriya has no shortage of) . It stands to reason then that his progress would therefore be very subtle, mostly unnoticed, and hardly taken into account due to the internal aspect of his development. (Like it'd probably only takes him having a full meltdown or throwing himself in front of someone else for other people to notice how far he had gone!)

Messing with Her
Pairing: Shouto Todoroki X Momo Yaoyorozu

Tumblr media
One. They are supposed to share just one lesson with the students of class B every week and yet somehow it has become the least bearable thing for Shouto. Although he isn’t much of an extrovert, he can bear with a few new faces but this doesn’t mean he’s ready to share seats with said new faces. And as if this isn’t enough, fate decides to play a dirty trick on him by giving him the worst possible seatmate for this particular class— Neito Monoma.
Not only does the blond hold some kind of personal grudge against class A but he is also nearly deranged. His obsession with annoying people is seriously worrisome. Negativity is known to eat away one’s inner conscience, deprive the person of liveliness and joy yet this boy thrives in chaos. Disaster fuels him like no drug can ever. And Shouto is extremely disgruntled to have to share a seat with him for a whole year.
He doesn’t pay heed to the crazy boy’s taunts and focuses on Sir Cementos, who is explaining something about strategizing which they’ll have to apply later on in test missions. His eyes glance ahead, stopping upon the back of a girl with silky, black locks next to an orange haired girl from class B. He sighs. It was his lovely, dark haired, seatmate herself who had suggested this new seat arrangement by drawing lots so as to help the two sections become more accustomed to one another and to make some new friends. Well he certainly does not need new friends. He is content with having her, Midoriya and Iida.
“Ohh so Mr. Cool Guy here is now ignoring me.” Monoma speaks, feigning a hurt expression.
Shouto finds the nickname funny, considering how hot-headed he gets when having to deal with idiots like these. But just like the rest of his classmates, he’s promised his class representatives that he’ll try to learn from this experience, not pick fights. And so, he tries to concentrate on what is being taught right in front of him.
“Is it your class rep, you’re thinking about?” Monoma says, his eyes now fixated on Yaoyorozu.
“Oh I know..” Monoma clicks his fingers, as if he’s discovered Shouto’s deepest, darkest secrets. “You’re thinking you’d rather sit with her than having to face a genius like me.”
Shouto huffs, cracking his neck to diffuse the annoyance building up within him. He has to! He promised Iida and Yaoyorozu.
“You think she’s better than me?” Monoma asks haughtily. This guy doesn’t know when to give up, does he?
Shouto ignores him.
“She is intelligent, I’ll give her that. But isn’t her kindness off-putting? I dunno, she almost seems too good to be true. Hey! Maybe she’s faking being nice to-”
“Fuck Off” The words escape Shouto’s lips before his rational mind can stop him.
It is only when the whole class turns towards him, some gasping in shock whilst several others hooting in approval of the possible incoming argument that he realizes he’s said the curse words loud enough for everyone to hear. He looks away, unfazed by everyone’s undivided attention on him. He only swears if it is to humiliate his bastard of a father. But people like Monoma press the right buttons, pushing him to lose his composure. It would’ve been fine if the arrogant boy had kept his snarky comments limited to him but he tried to insult Yaoyorozu, someone whom Shouto holds very important in his life, just like his other friends. He assures himself with that thought but wonders if he’d actually reacted the same way had it been Midoriya or Iida. Anyways, he couldn’t have just sat there and let the guy say whatever.
Sir Cementos puts down the chalk in his hand and opens his mouth to berate him for his language but Yaoyorozu beats their teacher to it.
“Todoroki-san! How could you?” she stands up, disappointment clear in her voice.
How could he? Normally, he would’ve simply told her that this stuck-up class B student just badmouthed her. But with an audience around, he can’t. He just knows that’ll hurt Yaoyorozu more than Monoma’s false remarks. So instead of stating the truth, he decides to lie. “Because he deserves.”
From the corner of his eyes, he can see Iida itching to chide him but is stopped by Midoriya.
“Swearing is wrong!” Yaoyorozu emphasizes, her hands resting on her hips. “Whether or not a person deserves it, is not as important as you spoiling your tongue by using such foul words.”
Here it is, her ‘good girl’ speech. Although she’s right, she can’t force everyone to stop swearing. And he’s already not the most ideal boy in his class. He is kind of a brooding, no-nonsense, cool sort of guy but that doesn’t mean he’s not bad. It may not be apparent but he’s just as handful as any other teenager. He doesn’t answer much to his sister and he treats his father like trash (which the man actually is). Oh! And not long ago, before the sports festival, he used to be pretty rude and uncaring about others. Its surprising that she and the rest of his classmates collectively decided to forget all of it as soon as he started opening up. So yeah, he doesn’t really care if swearing is wrong.
“It’s my tongue I’m spoiling, so you don’t need to worry.” He says with a shrug, earning some collective ‘oohs’ from the other students.
Her expression darkens at the nonchalance in his words. “I’m not worried. I just want you to apologize.”
Shouto’s eyes widen for the fraction of a second before returning to his stoic demeanor. Apologize? Him? To this jerk? And that too for cursing at Monoma because the blond was mocking her kind character? Not in a million years. If asked, he can share his soba with her but he will definitely not ask for this obnoxious boy’s forgiveness. He cocks his head to the side as he responds, “Or what?”
His words ensue a set of gasps, hoots and snickers. Even Bakugou quirks a brow in amusement. The sassy intonation in his words, makes Shouto question himself too. Crude words are one thing. But where is this coming from? He doesn’t remember ever speaking like this to anyone. Especially, since he had only meant to decline her request. Somehow he ended up saying these..challenging words!? He’s not in the position to challenge her for correcting him. So then, how did he let such words slip out of his mouth? Must be due to his time spent in the company of Bakugou and others at the provisional training.
Or is it because he enjoys messing with her? He knows she’s genuinely too sweet to scream at him for his words. Plus, he has noticed her always blushing cutely when he says something unpredictable. He isn’t sure why she reacts the way she does towards some of his actions but he likes it. He likes getting under her skin. He wants to witness how much she can take until she finally snaps back at him and takes action.
“Or..” she begins through gritted teeth, “I’ll never talk to you.”
His brows furrow immediately. The last time she stopped speaking to him was a disaster. Yes, he had talked it out with her. But he doesn’t have the energy to repeat that because he knows most of class A will be eavesdropping on them like the other time. He balls his palms into fists, the temperature rising on his left side whilst decreasing equally at his right. This isn’t fair. He didn’t expect her to be this strict on him. He isn’t saying that he’s special but she always does make him feel so. Wishing him good luck during tests, lending him spare stationary material by actually using her quirk to create it for him, offering him her expensive variety of tea and so much more. It’s just that her little gestures make him feel warm and happy..make him feel special and loved.. So now that she’s the one reprimanding him, it’s disheartening. Still, he cannot apologize to Monoma. He just can’t.
“It’s okay, Yaoyorozu-san.” Fortunately, the orange haired girl from class B intervenes. Kendo right? She’s the one who keeps her classmates in line. “I know Monoma is a bit provoking in nature.” She says sheepishly. “So there’s no need to say sorry to him. I think a written apology to your homeroom teacher will be better.” She suggests, looking awkwardly between Todoroki and Yaoyorozu.
Yaoyorozu bites her lip as if contemplating if she should agree or not but then relaxes visibly. “Fine then. Todoroki-san, please write an apology to Aizawa sensei.” With that said, she turns around, a frown still etched on her face to express her disappointment in him.
He watches the others turn back to Cementos, assuming the matter is over. But not for him. For some inexplicable reason, Shouto can’t get enough of this. He knows this isn’t a competition and that she wasn’t serious when she said what she did. He knows. Yet..
“Or what?”
“Or..I’ll never talk to you.”
The statement echoes in his head. He can’t believe that she shot back to his pugnacious words.
Shouto knows that it’s unnecessary and he’s being childish. But he can’t help himself from wanting to have the last word in this silly, one-sided argument with her. Maybe it’s his adolescent hormones kicking in but he wants to spite her, test her some more..
“Well then you better keep an eye on me or I won’t be writing that apology letter.” He drawls out but he doesn’t get to wait long. He sees Yaoyorozu instantly push her chair back with a noisy screech. In a few quick steps, she stomps towards him, glaring Monoma to get her message across. The blond boy immediately vacates the chair for her and she sits down next to Shouto, passing him a fiercer glare. He smirks, relishing in the hooting that follows anew as a result of his playful words.
Seriously, if all it takes is a few swear words and silly comebacks to make her sit by his side, then he’ll gladly do it all over again.
Tumblr media
A/N: Amongst class A students, i think Shouto is the most badly behaved one. He's rude to people he doesn't like or doesn't respect, regardless of their age. There's so much I've noticed about him that I feel like he is the Bad Boy type right next to Bakugou 🤭
Well, I hope you guys enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing..
OH, I'M OPEN FOR REQUESTS NOW
If you have a scenario, AU or just sn idea about todomomo and you want me to write it, please comment about it here ☺

SPIRIT ANIMAL AU (Part 11 : The fluff, The Crack and the extra)
Previously-
Deku's Spirit Animal is a Fennec Fox, whose voice can only be heard by Katsuki (because, reasons), while Deku himself appears to be in a coma.
Extending on the imformation on Spirit Animals from my prev post
Tumblr media
("Kacchan! Love me!")
me from the back, sniffing into a hanky: JUST LOVE HIM ALREADY!
The Extra:
While the class was out together, running errands, Izuku and Katsuki get involved in an incident where a child, 4 years old(Person A) develops their quirk smack in the middle of a crowd and it is making people faint. Neither of the m remember the incident but bystanders say that Izuku tried to save Katsuki.
Person A then falls into Quirk Pyrexia (like Eri's fever) and then into a coma. But the effects of the quirk stay. The people who fainted woke up and found a Spirit Animal attached to them
But Deku is in a coma too, and there is this green-haired Fennec-Fox scampering about instead.
Person B, older sibling of Person A who has a similar (but not exactly the same) quirk explains how their own quirk works. And mentions that a lot of people had been affected at once by person A's quirk. So there are a lot of spirit animals going around now in Mustafu.
Class A gets pretty hyped and wants their own spirit animals. They all ask Person B for one of their own. Being mobbed by the eagre class, Person B agrees.
Everyone gets one. Except Katsuki who doesn't want anything to do with the critters; Shouto who couldn't be bothered to get one and Mineta whose Spirit Animal turns out to be a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach and Person B refuses to let that abomination exist. (gtfo mineta)
Gradually the class starts to learn more about Spirit Animals in general and themselves with the help of their Spirit Animals (since they are a reflection of their emotional psyche)
E.g.- Spirit animals' voice can be heard by only the person (the Master) who provides them with some of their own life-force. Normally the amount depends on the size of the animal, but since most are small it is as easy as breathing - life span is not reduced because of it in anyway.
Spirit Animals are born from some basic things like- a person's strongest and most definitive memories, their emotional psyche, their quirk (not necessary though) and their Master's life energy. Basically an SA is the soul of the person in animal form - but they only have a subset of the memories of their human counterpart.
Normally a person from whom an SA is born is also the Master. In Katsuki and Izuku's case there are a lot of problems because Izuku interfered in the process. Now Izuku is in a coma while Katsuki is stuck with the mutterings of a fox inside his head.
the further the SA is from the Master- the more energy it consumes from both. it's a balancing act. The SA might get sick from being too far for too long, but the effect of distance on Masters is however, negligible.
Another way an SA gets sick is when the Bond is one-sided, where the Master (knowingly or unknowingly) refuses to provide for their SA.
In both cases the SA might 'die'
Any sickness or injury of the SA, if treated in due time, can be healed just by prolonged skin contact with their Master.
Ways SA can die- When the quirk fades, when they get very sick, when another SA kills it
In the last method - the Master enters a coma when their SA dies. Because murder is an unnatural warp in the fabric of humanity and psyche- so it impacts the Master too. No one knows if such a coma is treatable or not.
SA can talk to each other, but not other Masters.
SA have special abilities unlike quirks. They are small spiritual-ly abilities, like: Fortune telling, star-reading, dream-walking, mood-reading, etc. Almost every SA has an ability. The occurrence are same as quirked:quirkless ratios.
The PREFACE:
Katsuki avoids F!Deku after he finds out that Katsuki can hear him. But Deku tries to be persistent. Katsuki, naturally gets mad and tells Deku to get lost because he is 'irritating, too loud, too jumpy and disgusting'
This breaks F!Deku's heart, because he doesnt have the memory of Katsuki literally hating him in middle school. Depressed, he starts to keep away, talk less, run less, appear fewer times in front of Katsuki.
At first Katsuki finds peace in the silence, but it starts to worry him. Soon he figures out that Deku is getting sick because of him, as other SA inform through their Masters.
THE FLUFF and CRACK!
after that Katsuki (apparently) grudgingly takes care of Deku. He needs good food? Fine! A bath? Fine! Warmth?! FINE! SKIN CONTACT? FINNEEEE! he is gonna take care of it so damn good that everyone else drops dead at his SA-grooming skills!! (goddamnit, Katsuki, you fucking idiot...)
Cue the most ridiculous phase the Heights Alliance has ever seen-
Katsuki bringing Deku to school in his bag. During classes, Deku naps on the table or in the desk- with his tail curled around Katsuki's left wrist or being left whisking over his hand.
Katsuki in Practical Classes: With Deku wrapped around his neck, inside the neck brace. Winter costume? Inside his turtle-neck. (Imagine Deku's fox head popping out of that collar on being called. oh my heart...that visual...)
Also the visual- Deku nuzzling the underside of Katsuki's jaw if he gets mad, to distract him. Cause that lil fucker actually (begrudgingly) likes the soft fur
Katsuki cooking? Deku's waiting on his shoulder patiently and taste-tests Katsuki's cooking when he gives him a gravy-dipped finger
Katsuki eventually agrees to use Deku's plans during Mock Battles and they make a sick team. Other students say it's unfair to have an extra member on Bakugou. But Katsuki's sly ass reasons that he keeps Deku just because he'll get sick again. (And it's true, cause Deku can still mutter plans in his head from a distance)
Katsuki hosing down Deku's fur like that shit's contaminated. And Deku regretting every second of his canid existence.
Katsuki complaining about Deku's long-ass nails cause they scratch the bejesus out of him. Deku tells him that his Kacchan can clip off those nails if he wants, but Katsuki doesn't reply, instead gives Deku a sour look. Next day he pawns off those Soft Nail Caps from Aizawa (or Shinsou. Maybe Black and orange ones or green ones?)
Sleeping - Deku normally curls up in a ball and sleeps on Katsuki's tummy. But since Katsuki is a turbulent sleeper (more about this later) this gets difficult. So instead he sleeps while nuzzling the curve of Katsuki's neck or makes a nest in his spiky hair.
Tumblr media
("G'nite, Kacchan")
The girls of class A open a social media account with all the SA and Deku, the cutest fox in the world, as their focus. Katsuki has to pry off the fox from their hands too often to be comfortable about it.
Katsuki's morning rituals? Deku's riding on his head while he goes down to the communal bathrooms. Eijirou swallows toothpaste and Denki shits himself when they see him like that.
Deku needs to sun-bathe in the chilly weather. So, Katsuki takes him out of cafeteria in lunch time, his friends join too.
Deku gets really popular with Gen Ed and Class B as days go by and when the others try to cuddle him or coo at him, Katsuki twitches with irritation.
Monoma tries to harass Katsuki one day in the cafeteria, so Deku and the other SA literally wage an SA war on him. All the SA of Class A are nibbling and stealing Monoma's food, leaving a mess over his things and making life hell for him. Denki, Hanta, Mina and Eijirou sign up too. Katsuki, unwittingly, earns the title of 'The Savage Snowhite' from Class B due to their efforts.
Once, while lying on his tummy, Deku figures out that Katsuki is really ticklish there and tickles him incessantly till Katsuki is laughing. When Deku suddenly stops tickling and just sits back doing nothing, Katsuki asks suspciously why he stopped, what's he planning. Deku just says that he doesn't remember ever seeing Kacchan laugh, so he wants to remember this properly. cue feels.
Somewhere down the line Katsuki starts to FINALLY fucking acknowledge that he likes to be around the nerd fox, maybe even loves the Deku trapped inside this form. But the real Deku lies asleep in the infirmary. And oh, the Angst ensues as he starts wondering if this is permanent.
Meanwhile SA are being murdered, people are falling into coma, and something has infilrated the UA campus. One of the Class A student's SA was killed very recently. Because the SA was born from Person B's quirk and not Person A, they recover soon after and inform the teachers that they saw an SA Arctic Wolf attack them.
Cue Villain music- dun dun dun!
Here is PART 1 if you are interested in some Fennec Fox Facts!
(Next up! PART 3: THE ANGST, THE DRAMA! -please look forward it!)
