WOE! FAN CHILDREN BE UPON YE! (click for better quality… sigh…)

i drew this at 10:00 at night, then fell asleep bc i pulled an all-nighter the night before, then woke up and drew the kids as little babies, dadan, luffy, and garp. “how old is garp?” idk. “he must be old asf, how is he still kicking?” he needs to make his great granddaughters into marines, and probably their kids too. so garp’s gonna be around for a while.
ANYWAYS: meet rouge and her sister, who i don’t have a name for yet so we’re gonna call her baby 2 lol. (help me with the name. i have “trey” because that comes after deuce but i don’t like it that much. then i have “ann” bc that was supposed to be ace’s name if he were a girl but ion know about that one either)
they take after both of their dads, but they look the most like ace (portgas genes are too strong). i can’t imagine ace as anything but a girl dad, so here you go.
rouge loves to read, while baby 2 likes to go out and play more and doesn’t like being in one spot. but other than that, she likes to tend to her hibiscus shrub. they have a big ass family that loves them dearly. they both have big appetites and narcolepsy, like ace. they also like to write, like deuce, but rouge has more of a passion for it. baby 2 likes traditional storytelling more (which is, speaking the stories rather than writing down the stories)
fun fact: they don’t know roger 😭😭 well they don’t until one day, luffy’s big mouth tells them (which pissed ace off). they don’t know rouge either, but that’s mainly bc it’s a super sore spot for ace instead of hatred. he’s working on it, he’ll tell them one day.
and sabo’s little comic part is a reference to this vine
i might draw more of them bc i’ve grown attached
ALSO! they have curlier hair bc i hc deuce and black + asian. (fun fact: in the real world, their girls would be mexican, filipino, bahamian, and vietnamese) (<- i hc ace as mexican + filipino) sorry to get all woke there… heh… 🦄
#one piece#portgas d ace#masked deuce#deuceace#fan children#revolutionary sabo#monkey d luffy#asl brothers#curly dadan#monkey d garp#tama one piece#ignore the fact that rouge’s name is “portgas d. rouge II’’ idk if i wanna keep that

BTC Starmaker Season 5: A Journey Through Challenges and Triumphs
Being part of 'BTC Starmaker Season 5' was a defining moment for me. As I ventured into this thrilling journey to rejuvenate the Bahamian TV landscape, I faced numerous challenges and victories that enriched my experience. Introducing innovation and enhancing television standards was far from easy, but the rewarding expressions on the faces of our team and the local talent made every effort worthwhile.
Embracing the Challenge
When we agreed to tackle the fifth season of BTC Starmaker, I knew we were in for an enormous challenge. Bahamian television needed revitalization, and this show was our opportunity. The talent show had successfully run for several seasons, but it was beginning to lose its appeal. The need for change was evident. Our team quickly dove in, dedicating weeks to brainstorming ways to make the show more engaging and interactive for viewers.
One of the most thrilling aspects was blending technology and creativity. We introduced new interactive features and leveraged social media to create a stronger connection between viewers and participants. This not only captivated the audience but also set a precedent for what Bahamian television could achieve. "We need to let people invest emotionally in these talents," I often reminded my team. This principle was our guiding light throughout the production.
Spotlight on Local Talent
Collaborating with Bahamian talent was one of the most rewarding parts. The Bahamas is brimming with untapped potential, just waiting for a stage to showcase it. I recall many late-night sessions in the studio with the crew, perfecting every detail to ensure the talent dazzled on the main stage. The resilience and passion of the contestants were awe-inspiring. Despite limited resources, these young talents brought an infectious energy. It was that kind of passion that motivated us to go the extra mile.
There were numerous memorable interactions during this journey. One standout contestant was Marissa, whose voice left us speechless. We carefully planned a sequence that highlighted her growth, adding a layer of intimate storytelling. "It's not just about the talent but presenting their authentic stories," I would remind my directing team. This mantra kept us focused and grounded.
Impact on Bahamian Television
The impact of BTC Starmaker Season 5 exceeded our projections. Viewer ratings soared, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. It was evident that we had succeeded in making the audience a part of our experience. The buzz created a ripple effect, encouraging other local networks to elevate their production standards. It felt like we had ignited a spark leading to a broader dialogue about the future of Bahamian TV.
For me, this project marked a significant milestone in merging storytelling with entrepreneurship. It proved that creative ventures could drive profound change, even in traditional fields like television. Transforming a struggling show into a rejuvenated hit positively affected everyone involved, from the producers to the last technician. It was more than just entertainment—it was a step toward a promising future for Bahamian media.
BTC Starmaker Season 5 taught me invaluable lessons in resilience and community. Having a vision is one thing; having the determination to execute that vision against all odds is another. This journey reaffirmed my belief in the power of local talent and their immense potential to shape our shared futures. "Revitalizing a show," I often say, "is like scripting a new beginning." Each challenge has a story, and each triumph offers a lesson.
As an entrepreneur, moments like these push me to keep pushing boundaries and exploring new frontiers. With every venture, the goal is to inspire, engage, and ultimately leave a lasting impact. The experience of 'BTC Starmaker Season 5' reignited my purpose and showed that authentic storytelling could indeed revolutionize an entire industry. Here's to more journeys, more challenges, and more stories waiting to unfold.

"Yu-Yi" - A Compelling Short Directorial Debut
"Yu-Yi" is a raw, intimate, and emotionally charged cinematic experience crafted by Leslie Susana Campbell, a Los Angeles-based Bahamian filmmaker. The title, "Yu-Yi," encapsulates the longing to feel intensely again, a sentiment that resonates throughout the film. Campbell's LGBTQ drama, presented in a cinema verité style, is a confessional exploration of the complexities of coming out, evolving feelings, and the struggle with identity and attraction.
At its core, "Yu-Yi" is a poignant confession captured through a video conversation. As unspoken truths surface, Campbell, through her single voice, captures the intricate dynamics of friendship, communication, acceptance, and ultimately, the inability to bridge the emotional gap.

Campbell's film delves into the grieving process that accompanies such emotional upheavals, where the pain can feel cloudy and overwhelming. Yet, amidst this turmoil, there is a longing to find a space where one can feel freely and safely again. Campbell's personal experiences serve as the vehicle for her storytelling, inviting audiences to engage in introspection and discussion.
While "Yu-Yi" may not showcase intricate filmmaking techniques, its strength lies in its ability to convey a powerful narrative and evoke profound emotions. Campbell's artistry shines through her ability to transform memories, moments, and instances into a presentation that resonates deeply. Although minimalistic in its approach, "Yu-Yi" captivates through its raw authenticity and the filmmaker's dedication to exploring the depths of human emotion.

D23 Expo Announcements 2019
Epcot:
Renaming and reorganizing the sections of the park into four new neighborhoods: “World Nature” (Future World West), “World Discovery” (Future World East”), “World Celebration” (Entrance of the park spanning down to World Showcase Plaza), and the only returning member; World Showcase.
A recreation of “Cherry Tree Lane” and a whole new attraction based off of the ‘Mary Poppins’ movies will be brought to the UK pavilion.
“Journey of Water” will be introduced as a walkthrough attraction that connects World Celebration to World Nature. In this ‘Moana’ themed area, guests will learn about the natural water cycle and allow you to “meet and play with magical, living water”.
“Dreamer’s Point” will be a new area located in World Celebration that will feature a wishing tree, a new statue of Walt Disney, and an enchanted forest with a reimagined fountain. (This will be located in the current footprint Pin Central all the way to the Fountain of Nations.)
A new pavilion to play host to Epcot’s seasonal festivals will be constructed in roughly the area currently occupied by Club Cool and the Epcot Character Spot. The three story structure will provide ideal views for the new nighttime firework viewing.
All of Innoventions West will be demolished to make room for the new pavilion and “Journey of Water”.
Spaceship Earth (the attraction) will receive upgrades including a new script that will slightly alter the focus of the attraction. Instead of focusing on the history and progression of communication technology, it will instead focus on the changing of storytelling utilizing many of the same scenes from the current attraction. Guests will follow a magical “story light” that will guide you through the experience.
The 360 films in the China and Canada pavilions, “Wondrous China” and “Canada Far and Wide”, respectively, will replace the current films. “Canada Far and Wide” will debut in January 2020.
“Awesome Planet”, the new film for the Land Pavilion, will open in January 2020.
“Beauty and The Beast Sing-Along” will debut in January 2020 in the France Pavilion, sharing the same theater as ‘Impressions de France’.
“Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” attraction and “La Creperie de Paris” quick/table service restaurant will both open in Summer 2020 in the France Pavilion.
After the limited time run of “Epcot Forever” is concluded, the new nighttime extravaganza “HarmonioUS” will debut as a permanent replacement for Illuminations. It is expected to be the largest production ever created for a nighttime show in a Disney Park.
The new ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ attraction in World Discovery will be named “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind”. This will be the first roller coaster in Epcot and will feature a backwards launch. The attraction’s story will revolve around the guests going on a trip to Xandar, of which will go awry once the Guardians of the Galaxy come into contact. The ride vehicle will be able to rotate 360 degrees to allow guests to better focus on the action.
Next to Mission: Space the new restaurant will be called “Space 220″ and is slated to open this winter.
General Walt Disney World News:
A new app “Disney Genie” will be released in late 2020, this app is supposed to help organize and plan your day in WDW in conjuction to My Disney Experience.
The new Cirque du Soleil show in Disney Springs will debut March 20th, 2020
The new “Reflections” resort on Bay Lake will feature a restaurant inspired by ‘The Princess and the Frog’.
The Star Wars themed hotel being constructed will officially be called “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser”.
The experience will take place as a two-day, two-night adventure on the ship “Halycon”.
Guests will be immersed into a full story in which their own actions make a difference in how the experience plays out as they come into contact with certain characters and The First Order.
On one of the days, guests will go on an “excursion” to Batuu, otherwise known as Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios park.
Guests will be able to explore many different parts of the ship, and even train to use a lightsaber like Luke Skywalker with a training remote.
Disneyland:
A new daytime parade called “Magic Happens” featuring floats from ‘Coco’, ‘Moana’, and more will debut in Spring 2020.

A Doctor Strange themed experience will be revolved around the ruins of a “California Sanctum”.
A new restaurant “Pym Test Kitchen” will open that will feature oversized and shrunken foods caused by the “Pym Particle” featured in the ‘Ant-Man’ movies.

Hong Kong Disneyland:

Disney Cruise Line:
The first of three new ships set to sail soon for DCL will be named the “Disney Wish”. It will be the fifth cruise ship in the fleet and will feature the image of Rapunzel on the back of the ship, similar to the Dumbo figure on the back of the Disney Fantasy.
A new DCL port, “Lighthouse Point”, will open in conjunction to Castaway Cay as a Disney owned and operated piece of land for Disney Cruises to visit on Bahamian voyages. The land, with the help of legendary Imagineer Joe Rohde, will celebrate the Bahamian culture surrounding the port.

Pod-Alization: "High Strange" On UFOs In March ; "Tales from The Crypto" In April
Payne Lindsey to investigate UFOs in High Strange podcast
True-crime podcaster Payne Lindsey has just dropped the video teaser for his new investigative UFO podcast, “High Strange,” which you can watch HERE.
Lindsey, who has been known for his true crime investigations, with podcasts like “Up and Vanished” and “Atlanta Monster” leading to real arrests and convictions, is now taking a turn into a different type of investigation, and one of the biggest mysteries of our time — UFOs. High Strange premieres on March 23, 2023, and is an all-encompassing showcase of today’s UFO environment, including first-hand stories of the most compelling UFO cases in American history, like Travis Walton, who was infamously abducted in 1975 and went missing for five days, plus amazing archival tape and a modern-day investigation. Payne Lindsey is an Atlanta-based director, award-winning documentary filmmaker, and the co-creator and host of the popular podcasts “Up and Vanished”, “Atlanta Monster,” “Radio Rental” and “Dead and Gone.”
Scaramucci in Tales from the Crypto Podcast about FTX
The podcast studio, Audio Up has teamed up with hedge fund titan Anthony Scaramucci (AKA "The Mooch") to produce Tales from the Crypto, an eight-episode limited series that tells the explosive, inside story of Scaramucci’s strange and troubled relationship with disgraced crypto magnate and FTX founder Sam Bankman Fried.
An official first-look teaser can be viewed HERE.
Scaramucci and Bankman-Fried were unlikely friends, and yet, their eighteen-month relationship would see them entertaining heads of state, jet-setting between Middle Eastern palaces, and evangelizing the blockchain as the future. For the Mooch, here was the chance to work with the next Mark Zuckerberg, and finally move past the ignominy of his disastrous two weeks as former President Trump’s White House Communications Director.
If that meant carrying a bag of suits all the way to Riyadh so SBF wouldn’t meet the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia in a t-shirt, so be it. The halcyon days that sprung their partnership, however, would come to a dramatic close as the Mooch had a front-row seat in the room on the fateful Bahamian day it all came crashing down.
The high-octane series takes listeners on a whirlwind tour from the gilded palaces of Saudi Arabia where Scaramucci introduced SBF to new investors, to FTX headquarters where an oddball assortment of characters lived a cult-like existence while practicing group sex and taking prescription drugs. Scaramucci reveals all, questioning his own judgment and those around him on how the hell this all happened.
“I was as shocked as anyone,” says Scaramucci. "Learn what happened and how to prevent this from happening to you."
“This is jaw-dropping, head-slapping, audio entertainment at its finest,” says Jimmy Jellinek, Audio Up’s Chief Creative Officer. “The Mooch is a born storyteller with a suitcase full of secrets that have never been opened. You have no idea what’s coming.”
Tales from the Crypto will launch April 1st across all podcast platforms for a seven-week run. Scaramucci will then launch his own “always on” podcast series MOOCH MONEY that will break down complicated financial topics for the everyday investor with his trademark humor, and feature a who’s who of business titans and investment pros. That series is set to premiere in June.

Embarking on the journey to revitalize Bahamian television with 'BTC Starmaker Season 5' was a thrilling yet daunting adventure for me. I have always been deeply passionate about entrepreneurship and storytelling, and this project allowed me to merge these interests to bring fresh energy to the local television scene. With BTC's sponsorship backing us, my team and I set out to create a show that would not only captivate audiences but also showcase the immense talent we have here in the Bahamas.
The Vision and Challenges
From the start, the goal was clear: inject new life and excitement into Bahamian television. The vision was ambitious, aiming to revive the local entertainment landscape and provide an inspiring platform for emerging artists. Of course, bringing a talent show of this scale to fruition is no small feat. It required substantial planning, securing resources, and most importantly, finding and nurturing the right talent.
One major challenge we faced was overcoming the skepticism that had been built over the previous seasons. While 'BTC Starmaker' had its loyal fans, it was critical to attract a broader audience, especially the younger demographic. We recalibrated the production aspects, infused dynamic content, and modernized the presentation to align with current entertainment trends. Our approach considered the viewer's changing tastes while preserving the essence that made the show beloved by many.
Working with Local Talent
One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey was the opportunity to work with incredible local talent. The Bahamas is brimming with gifted artists, singers, and performers waiting for their moment under the spotlight. The challenge often is not talent scarcity but discovering and polishing raw gems, helping them believe in their potential and giving them a stage to shine. The journey of candidates from their humble beginnings to their live television performances was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, filled with moments of self-doubt and sheer brilliance.
I recall a moment when we were unsure about one contestant during auditions, but something in his voice and demeanor hinted at untapped potential. With dedicated mentoring and rigorous training, watching him bloom into a confident performer on stage made all our efforts worthwhile. These interactions deeply impacted me, reminding me why fostering local talent is crucial for the cultural and economic growth of any community.
Impact on Bahamian Television
'BTC Starmaker Season 5' proved to be a turning point for the Bahamian TV industry. Our innovative approach helped reignite interest in local productions, drawing viewers back to domestic content. More than just a talent show, it became a symbol of pride and inspiration for aspiring artists and production teams in the Bahamas. The positive reception and increased viewership proved that the right mix of creativity, dedication, and understanding of local culture could lead to phenomenal success.
The revitalization of the show had ripple effects—it uplifted the local TV industry, encouraged higher production standards, and spurred a renewed interest in creating quality content. This transformation encouraged me to keep pushing the boundaries of entrepreneurship within the entertainment sector. This experience reinforced my belief in the power of storytelling and its ability to bring people together, inspire change, and create economic opportunities.
Moving forward, I am committed to continuing my entrepreneurial journey with a focus on empowering local artists and exploring new ways to enrich the cultural tapestry of the Bahamas. 'BTC Starmaker Season 5' was a testament to what could be achieved through perseverance, innovation, and a strong community spirit.
The journey wasn’t easy, but it was incredibly fulfilling. I feel immense pride thinking about the impact we made and the doors we opened for many talented individuals. This project reaffirmed my love for entrepreneurship and the endless possibilities it holds, especially when driven by passion and a vision to make a difference.

Storytelling after Katrina
Fifteen years ago near the Bahamian coast, the winds and seas collided and conceived a storm. It wasn’t until its fifth day on Earth that the storm was given a name: Katrina. On its tenth day, it put 80% of New Orleans underwater, decimated communities along the Gulf, claimed over 1,800 lives, displaced millions, and took the title of the costliest hurricane in U.S. history. Indecision, bureaucratic lag, delayed response from the federal government, and biased media coverage all plagued the area after the storm and contributed to the stagnation of the area that threatened more lives.
This short list of titles looks back at that catastrophic week in 2005 through stories that are powerful and haunting, hopeful and desperate. They are a testament to the near-omnipotence of Mother Earth. They speak to the resiliency of human beings and of communities. Above all, they serve as a reminder of what can happen when we don’t look out for each other.
Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012)
I know. This movie isn’t explicitly about Katrina but the father daughter duo in this movie are confronted with multiple catastrophes, one of which is a storm that destroys their island home of The Bathtub. What I love about this movie is that it centers on a child who recognizes that human actions can have severe consequences on our planet. Just watch the trailer here.
Beyond Katrina - Natasha Trethewey
Former Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey tells the story of her native Mississippi’s Gulf Coast and its people before and after Katrina. Trethewey explores how the area’s development exacerbated the challenged faced by its Black residents before the storm and the impact Katrina had on the community. A moving narrative told through Trethewey’s poems, letters, photographs, and memories of the area.
Five Days at Memorial - Sheri Fink
Fink explores the storm from the eyes of those at the Memorial Medical Center, a hospital in New Orleans that found itself inundated in Katrina’s aftermath. From the sea of patients requiring medical attention immediately following landfall to the subsequent legal battles when things had quieted down, this book provides a singular perspective of Katrina.
Nine Lives - Dan Baum
Nine Lives is more about the City of New Orleans than it is about Katrina. It follows nine New Orleanians between Hurricane Betsy in 1965 and Katrina in 2005 as they recount their memories, good and bad, of this complex city.
Salvage the Bones - Jesmyn Ward
If you only read one book from the list, let it be this. In the fictional Mississippi town of Bois Sauvage, a family struggles to survive, sacrificing for each other as the storm approaches. This book will gut you.
Zeitoun - Dave Eggers
The question of whether to stay and ride out the storm or evacuate is a common theme in many of these stories. Zeitoun is no different. A non-fiction story about a Syrian-American man who spent the days after the storm distributing supplies and ferrying neighbors in a canoe before he was detained by a number of police agencies including the National Guard and ICE.

the genre is rake n scrape. executed with handsaw to a washboard, goat/sheep skin drums, accordions and the jingling of cowbells, etc. bahamian folk is called Rake n’ Scrape. It’s beautiful and spiritual and familiar. The music of African storytelling from our ancestors brought to the commonwealth. And is still being kept alive to this day. I need that to be known.

I remember vividly the moment I set foot in the Bahamas to work on 'BTC Starmaker Season 5.' The challenge of revitalizing the show was both thrilling and daunting. The Bahamian television industry had been in a rut, and it was essential to inject fresh energy and creativity into this talent competition. We aimed not only to entertain but to discover and nurture local talent, giving them the platform they deserved. From the auditions to the final eliminations, every phase was meticulously planned to ensure engagement and high-quality production.
Initial Challenges
The first hurdle was upgrading the production quality. The previous seasons had set a foundation, but there was room for improvement. We needed to make everything bigger and better—from the stage setups to the audiovisual elements. Connecting with the local crew was also crucial. They brought invaluable insights that were essential for capturing the Bahamian essence authentically. For many, it was their first time working on a project of this scale, so there was a lot of training and upskilling involved.
"You need to get everyone on the same page," I often reminded myself. An engaged team is a successful team, and we spent countless hours in pre-production, ensuring that everyone understood the vision.
Unleashing Local Talent
One of the most rewarding aspects was discovering the immense talent in the Bahamas. The auditions revealed a wide range of extraordinary singers, dancers, and entertainers, all brimming with potential. Many contestants had never performed on such a big stage before, and you could see the mix of excitement and nerves in their eyes.
"The nerves are good," I would tell them. "They mean you care." Offering mentorship and encouragement to these artists wasn't just a responsibility; it was a privilege. Each contestant had a unique story, often marked by struggles and perseverance. These stories weren’t just backgrounds; they became pivotal aspects of the show, adding emotional depth and human connection.
Changing the Dynamics of Bahamian Television
'BTC Starmaker Season 5' wasn't just a show; it was a movement aimed at breathing new life into Bahamian television. By integrating advanced technologies and storytelling methods, we sought to elevate the entire viewing experience. Modernizing the voting system to allow real-time audience participation was one significant move. The Bahamian viewers loved it. Engagement soared, and everyone talked about the show at work, school, and social gatherings.
This heightened public interest wasn't just good news for us; it was a boost for the entire Bahamian TV industry. It opened the door for more innovative projects and attracted local investment, pivotal in driving future initiatives. We saw a diversification in TV content, from reality shows to drama series, expanding the range and quality of local programming.
Collaborating with BTC, we secured funds that significantly upgraded the technical aspects of the show. We employed cutting-edge cameras and sound systems, transforming the visual and auditory experience into something vastly more sophisticated than previous seasons. This technological overhaul set new standards, encouraging competition and raising the bar for Bahamian productions.
Creating a Community Experience
The ripple effect extended beyond the screens. Local businesses and vendors benefited from the shoot locations and live shows. The show turned into a communal celebration, a shared experience that resonated deeply with the Bahamian people. Even post-production, the conversations and communal spirit continued, proving that 'BTC Starmaker Season 5' had achieved far more than just high ratings.
We created workshops for aspiring artists, providing them not only with a stage but also the tools to thrive. These workshops focused on various elements—vocal training, stage presence, and even branding and marketing. By equipping the participants with a comprehensive skill set, we were investing in the future of Bahamian entertainment.
As I look back, the successes and challenges all mesh into a profound experience. Producing 'BTC Starmaker Season 5' wasn’t merely about showmanship; it was about uplifting an entire community and industry. From the talented contestants to the dedicated crew and the enthusiastic audience—each of these played an integral part in the journey.
The Bahamian TV landscape witnessed a transformation, and being a catalyst for that change is something I carry with pride. It’s episodes like these that reaffirm why I love entrepreneurship—it's all about creating something that outlasts and transcends you, improving lives in the process.
