Empire doesn’t have space in their army for a disobedient, stubborn, insubordinated soldier, no matter how <i>special</i> he was, no matter how much he’d done for the republic. You had to either fall into the line, or face the consequences.

On the other hand, it would be foolish to just get rid of a clone that had cost them thousands of credits. Especially when there are people still interested in him. Maybe not for his sharpshooting skills, but still.

There are stories shared by the cadets on Kamino, about ghosts and demons and troopers that got changed into something else, something inhuman. During the day, older clones often laugh at the childish superstitions, but at night, many of them could swear they've seen eyes glowing in the dark.

The comics is another installment of the idea that Crosshair sees perfectly in the dark, also inspired by @kalm5​‘s idea that they posted after we talked about how, if Clone Force 99 was such a top secret unit, that most clones, especially young clone cadets, wouldn’t know about them so The Bad Batch would probably became… some sort of Kamino’s urban legends amongst the clone cadets?

Clones obviously stumbled upon them one way or another but since they look different and probably the encounters were very brief that some sort of stories begun to form about them, then rumor mill would do the rest, blowing everything out of the proportion!

For most of his brothers, there wasn’t that much of a difference between the Republic and the Empire. They were soldiers, first and foremost, and didn’t care about politics.

For Tech, it was different. The new leadership finally recognized he could be of more use as a scientist instead of being part of a "special force".

(He sometimes missed them, so lonely it physically hurt. But that was just a little sacrifice for a greater good.)

Of course that the Kaminoans didn’t planned for this. They've never planned their product to be anything more than a perfect biological droids. Definitely not someone who needs touch and love and closeness.

The Experimental Unit Clone Force 99, despite being born and raised so different from their "normal" brothers, still acted the same when it came to this.

He wasn't supposed to there. But he was curious, and that was always stronger than any locked door or stern warning. It wasn't that easy to induce a change in DNA. Well, it was really easy to do, but hard to end up with the mutation they wanted and even harder to control the side effects. Even him and his brothers have their share of them. And this room, that was the long road to the "Special clone force 99".

With his legs and arm removed, Echo felt almost weightless. Well, almost everyone felt light to Wrecker, but still, Echo was different. Like the metal implants in his skin were the only things keeping him on the ground.

At least he wasn’t shivering anymore, trapped in some nightmare that returned night after night after night.

Crosshair's fingers burned on the handle of the tin mug. Normally, he would tell Mayday to stop pretending they are friends or brothers or anything. But now, he just wanted to drink that poor excuse for a tea and sit here, quietly, with Mayday.

After last episode of Bad batch, I originally wanted to draw Mayday and Crosshair freezing together, but there was quicker (and better) artist who did it, so I decided to draw this.

Older cadets and troopers were hard to work with - they were strong, right, and knew how to fight, but also had enough brains to understand you are trying to help them. Most of them had, at least.

But the tiny ones only knew that getting sick or injured is a sure way to get decommissioned, so they saw the medics as their enemies and fought them with all they had - kicking, scratching, biting, screaming, and when everything else failed, crying so hard it broke even the most jaded medic's hearth.

The Kaminoans seen what he could do with his senses turned up to maximum, and never asked any follow up questions. Fortunately. What use they would have for a soldier that can be taken out by too bright light, by too many noises at once, by being touched one too many times.

The blaster bolt ricocheted from the trooper's mask, cracking the goggles and revealing part of the face beneath it. Hunter stood paralyzed, blaster falling from his suddenly numb fingers. "Tech?" he whispered.

Scene from the last episode of second season of Bad batch reminds me of Bucky falling from the train so much…
