Part of my Gravity Falls Baseball AU continuity

Wendy isn't just the coach of Dipper, Mabel, and Pacifica's baseball team for no reason. A few years back, when she herself played little league baseball, she was the star player of her team. Baseball had been Gravity Falls' biggest sport and the entire town would come out to watch their local little league heroes in action on the field. However, when the town's Football team began making waves, everyone moved to that leaving baseball in the dust with even most of the kids moving on to that. Wendy's team was the last little league baseball team in town before football took over and they couldn't even get enough members before having to dissolve the team due to lack of players and interest. That never stopped the fire and passion for the game burning deep in her, though. And though her old team may be gone, she's never let go of her love and thrill of the game. It hasn't been too long and, though she thinks she's abit rusty, she's still every bit of a badass at the game. When she puts on her baseball gear, its like the star player in her never stopped.

Back in her playing days, she learned to play nearly all the positions, never missing a chance to become a total power house. However, Wendy was also quite of a wild card which, while making for an exciting game, would also put her team in pretty tight situations that didn't always go their way. But still, she always loved the game, whether it was on the mound, behind the plate, at bat, on the bases, or on the outfield, she excelled at her game and she made sure the other team knew it!

Now, however, as she dusts off her old baseball uniform, she also puts on a new role: as coach for Dipper, Mabel, and Pacifica. Now she's more than just a player; she's also a guardian, teacher, mentor, and big sis to the 3 dorks she's taken in as part of her crew. Its no longer just about playing but also about teaching these 3 how Baseball is more than just a game of pure skill but also smarts! She's not ready to hang up her cleats, however, and Wendy's just as much of a student as she is a coach. While she does coach the team, she also still plays along side them and learns from her 3 little goobers. Mabel, Wendy's assistant coach, has taught her that more than just cutting loose, playing the game means enjoying and savoring every single moment of it. Dipper, her first player, has taught her to be more grounded and analytical in her plays to stay one step ahead of her opponent. And Pacifica? Pacifica's taught Wendy that she's more than just a coach and a player, she's a big sister and a role model to her that she looks up to. Wendy is her rock and the person she can lean on when things get rough.

Wendy's days on the diamond are far from over and, while she may be coach to the kids, she's also learning and growing with them. Its a journey they're all on together and she could not ask for a better crew to be by her side!

Augh.

Finally finished up the redesign of the exorcist uniforms. I honestly was going to leave it at Vaggie but I figured I might as well go ahead and put some thought into it even if it’s just for fun. Along with making the uniform itself more militaristic I thought implementing rank through the use of a stole would be interesting. Vaggie’s uniform is similar to Lute’s because of their shared status as some of Adam’s top girls, but Lute’s has gold accents throughout as well as the gold stole to convey her closeness to Adam and position as lieutenant. I still might change some little things here and there but I like how it’s looking.

Pacifica's always been a perfectionist in everything she does. Whatever she does, she HAS to be the best and has to do it perfectly. As a young kid just learning to play mini-golf, her parents had drilled that in to her head "You are a Northwest. You MUST be perfect. Anything less is an embarrassment to you and, more importantly, our family name!". It's no surprise then that Pacifica has set unreasonably high standards for herself in everything...even Baseball.

Pacifica knows that her parents would never approve of her playing a "filthy commoner sport" but ever since she's joined Dipper, Mabel, and Wendy, she's had the time of her life. However, Pacifica's frustrations get to her when she particularly struggles to perfect her skills. Just like every beginner, Pacifica struggles to perfect pitching, catching, and base-running. Her one Achilles Heel, however, is Batting. Hitting a baseball is NOTHING like teeing off at Mini-golf which sends a shock in her system. She struggles with it trying with all her will and determination to get it perfect but she simply can't. Pacifica tells herself that she is an absolute mess and thinks she is the worst without realizing she's actually a decent, if not, a good hitter. She loves baseball but can't help but feel her frustration at herself piling up over her (perceived) inability to hit a baseball properly.

Wendy, being the team's coach, sees Pacifica's frustration. No matter how good Pacifica tries to hide it, Wendy knows it. She's more than Pacifica's coach. In a special way, the two have become like sisters: Pacifica looking up to Wendy and leaning on her has her solid support and Wendy genuinely caring for Pacifica and feeling a sense of responsibility and affection for her knowing she's become Pacifica's rock in a way the Northwests have never been for her.

At one game, with Pacifica still feeling the weight of her struggle batting and her at-bat looming, Wendy comes over and encourages her. Pacifica couldn't help but spill her guts when Wendy about her frustrations. Wendy reminds her that baseball isn't about being the best, its about having the guts to step up to the plate and to face your fears head on and, more importantly, having fun with the people who love you the most. Though Pacifica smiles, Wendy still feels her apprehension. With abit of mischief she leans in and tell her that she just knows Pacifica's got this in the bag, no matter what.

Pacifica steps up to bat, feeling a rush of confidence and determination from Wendy's pep-talk. As the pitch comes in, she wheels in to it, powered by the sounds of her team's cheers, most especially Wendy's loud cheers from the dugout. With an loud clang, Pacifica sends the ball flying, not a home run as she'd hoped, but an incredible line drive that earns her a triple and lands her safely on 3rd base. Soon enough, Pacifica is hit in from 3rd and crosses home plate and sure enough, the first to meet her in the dugout is none other than Wendy, her big sis who never once doubted her.

Wendy meets Pacifica as she runs in and, before Pacifica could even say anything, Wendy playfully yanks down her helmet smugly telling Pacifica "Way to go, princess!" as Pacifica playfully acts annoyed trying to get Wendy to stop. Wendy doesn't buy it and continues to playfully mess with Pacifica, ruffling her sweaty hair under her batting helmet. Pacifica did it! She faced her fears with headstrong determination, but more importantly, she learned the power of letting others' faith in you power her through her struggle. More importantly, Pacifica learns that Baseball isn't about being the best, but simply, its about having fun and stepping up to the plate. She's still got a long way to go but these were the moments she lived for and she knew, no matter what, she'd have Wendy by her side to push her and support her. Wendy couldn't be prouder of her little sister and she knew, whatever challenges they may face, whether in Baseball or in life, they'd have each other to lean on no matter what

Happy Birthday!!

Wishing a very Happy Birthday to my most favorite member of The Royal Family, and ultimately my favorite Princess (who needs Disney, right!?!?)

Happy Birthday to Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Princess Anne.

As a young child, she slightly terrified me (which I can assure you she likely still could even to this day). She is the rock currently holding the family together. The ultimate leader and example. Sure, she's had her fair share of drama and is by no means a saint, but she is someone I greatly admire and respect. As some would say, I'd willingly follow her lead into battle (and if you're in a war with Anne, you may just come out victorious on her team - insert my theory that she's also a MI6 agent!)

Nonetheless, the more I've learned and read about her, and in particular watched this last year, the utmost grace and dignity she showed during her mother's passing in faithfully remaining by her side until the bitter end, she has set an example that many should emulate.

Happiest of Birthdays, Ma'am! Here's hoping you and the Admiral are enjoying Scotland sailing and exploring of lighthouses!
