The 8th Edition of the Dr. Sarojni Naidu International Award for Working Women Celebrates Women Leaders from Across the Globe

Noida, India – The 8th Edition of the prestigious Dr. Sarojni Naidu International Award for Working Women was celebrated with grandeur at Marwah Studios, Noida Film City, honoring the contributions of 100 outstanding women from India and around the world. Rogue Tax Officer, 3 Lawyers, 500 Firms - Big GST Heist Uncovered In Delhi

A rogue tax officer, a trio of lawyers and a few other people masterminded a fraud, swindling ₹ 54 crore from the Goods and Service Tax (GST) Department in the national capital. It was exposed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Delhi Government.

A GST officer, three lawyers, two transporters and the owner of a "company" were part of a plot involving 500 fake companies and fake invoices worth ₹ 718 crore to claim GST refunds worth ₹ 54 crore. The 500 companies only existed on paper and were purportedly involved in the import/export of medical goods to claim GST refunds.

Babita Sharma, the GST Officer (GSTO), hatched a plan with 96 fake firms and approved over 400 refunds worth ₹ 35.51 crore between 2021 and 2022. In the first year, only refunds worth ₹ 7 lakh were approved but later the remaining were approved.

Interestingly, the refunds were approved by the GSTO after filing the applications and approval was given within three days. In 2021, Ms Sharma was transferred to Ward 22 of the GST office and surprisingly, within a few days, over 50 firms applied for migration from Ward 6 to Ward 22, and was okayed within a short period. The migration raised alarm bells and the GST Vigilance Department sent teams to the offices of these firms. It led to the unearthing of the GST fraud, which had roots in its own office.

A particular ward has jurisdiction over a specific area.

The fake firms generated invoices worth ₹ 718 crore, i.e. fake purchases were made and business was only on paper, the probe, which was later transferred to the ACB, found. The GSTO issued refunds without verification of invoices and Input Tax Credit (ITC).

Over 40 firms were supplying goods in the first phase but no records were available in the second phase, the probe found. In the case of 15 firms, there was neither an Aadhar Card verification nor physical verification of the firm at the time of GST registration, which as per the rules is mandatory.

Of the 53 firms that migrated to Ward 22 after Ms Babita's transfer, 48 were given a GST refund of ₹ 12.32 crore. The Non-Objection Certificates or NOCs from property owners of these firms for offices were prepared between July 26, 202 and July 27. The GSTO was transferred to Ward 22 on July 26, 2021.

The investigation revealed that the GST refunds were issued in the bank accounts of three lawyers - Rajat, Mukesh and Narendra Saini and their family members, through different bank accounts. The ACB found 1,000 bank accounts directly related to the fake firms, their family members and the employees.

The trio ran 23 firms from an email ID and mobile numbers. Five firms were registered under the same PAN number and email ID to generate different GST registration numbers.

The 23 firms handled by the lawyers generated fake invoices worth ₹ 173 crore. Out of these 23 fake companies, seven were involved in the supply of medical goods and had shown business of ₹ 30 crore in their invoices.

One of the accused arrested is a fake firm owner, Manoj Goyal and two transporters, Surjeet Singh and Lalit Kumar. The Anti-Corruption Bureau said forged e-way bills and receipts of carrying goods were generated to get GST refunds. The transporters received money for providing such documents without giving any service.

The students & staff, along with the dignitaries, pledged to conserve them for protecting the environment.

While speaking at the seminar about the importance of trees for Mother Earth, the Chief Guest and Transport Officer, UP Transport Dept. Mrs. Babita Verma, emphasized that the primary reason for global warming and climate change is the detachment of sophisticated and educated individuals from nature. 

We should conserve and promote nature only then development without destruction is possible.

She further said the Venkateshwara Group is known not only for excellent education but for promoting social causes as well.

For safeguarding the environment, every individual should plant more trees to curb global warming and pollution.

The Pro Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi affirmed mega tree plantation drive is the most effective solution to stop global warming & environment pollution.

Shri Venkateshwara University organized an International Poetry Conference to celebrate honorable PM Narendra Modi Ji's birthday.

Shri Venkateshwara University VGI Meerut, and All India Sahitya Parishad, celebrated Honorable PM Narendra Modi Ji's birthday by organizing an International Poetry Conference.

As part of Ayushman Seva Fortnight, we arranged an International Poetry conference where popular national and international poets and litterateurs showcased their works.

Poets from 8 countries, including the USA, Canada, Fiji, Dubai, and Vietnam, celebrated the birth anniversary of our respected PM with full fanfare. They came together to honor this occasion with their poetry.  

The PM’s 73rd birth anniversary was celebrated with a 73 kg cake. Everyone admired the cake.

The Group Chairman Dr Sudhir Giri, Chief Guest & MOS Mr. Sanjay Singh Gangwar, MLA Mr. Rajiv Tarara, international litterateur Dr Madhu Chaturvedi & the Pro Chancellor Dr Rajiv Tyagi inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp to Goddess Saraswati.

American litterateur Ms. Pamela Erik, & S Chetwa from Mauritius joined them in initiating the mega function.

Mr. Sanjay Gangwar, MOS, and Dr. Rajiv Tyagi, Pro Chancellor, felicitated over 200 national and international poets and literature laureates. They presented them with shawls, plaques, turbans, and mementos.  

We also honoured International Poet Dr Madhu Chaturvedi with the Sahitya Shiromani Award on her birthday.

The Group Chairman Dr Sudhir Giri reiterated the medical students of Venkateshwara Group will distribute free medicines, fruits, health kit & provide free of cost medical care to the people on the occasion of the PM’s birth anniversary.

Insect Photography Competition organised by Entomology Club

Solan An Entomology club was established at the Department of Entomology of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. The club will coordinate various non-academic activities, functions and scientific disclosure of information and conduct lectures of alumni and experts on various topics related to entomology and other disciplines. It will provide a platform for students to represent themselves by conducting quizzes, photography competitions, brainstorming sessions, cultural and social activities.       Earlier this week, the newly established club organized a prize distribution ceremony for the Insect Photography Competition 2023. Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The President of the club Dr. RK Thakur welcomed the Chief Guest and informed about the foundation of the club, its objectives and future prospectus and various activities planned for the future. Dr. Manish Sharma, Dean, College of Horticulture also addressed the club members. Prof Chandel congratulated the winners and applauded the efforts of the entomology department. He also emphasized on collaboration with other departments and the inclusion of nearby villages for conducting future club activities.       The Chief Guest distributed awards to the winners of the Insect Photography Competition 2023. Shri Venkateshwara University/Institute celebrated National Voter's Day by hosting the New Voter's Conference 2024.

International Wrestler & Youth Icon & Ms. Babita Phogat was the Chief Guest at the event who exhorted youth to use voting power to elect a strong democratic government.

Later, the students heard the honourable PM’s discourse on “New Voter - The Creator of India’s Destiny” in the central auditorium of the University.

Ms Babita Phogat, Brand Ambassador New Voter Campaign, motivated the youth to take an oath for 100 percent voting during elections.

The CG Ms. Babita Phogat, Group Chairman Dr Sudhir Giri, Pro Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi & the former MLA Mr. Kanwar Singh Tanwar inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp to Goddess Saraswati & offered flowers on the portrait of Mother India.

The District President Mr. Uday Giri & the BJYM President Mr. Shubham Chaudhary joined them to unveil the New Voter’s Conference 2024 on the occasion of National Voter’s Day.

Bollywood Movies Part CLXXVIII

Firangi Mallah (Aamir Khan) is hired by the British to infiltrate Azaad’s (Amitabh Bachchan) band of freedom fighting bandits. As Firangi is brought into the fold, will he side with John Clive (Lloyd Owen) and the East India Company or with Azaad and Zafira Baig’s (Fatima Sana Shaikh) freedom fighters?

Thugs of Hindostan has an interesting premise, but the execution is terrible. The action sequences are too long and overuse slow motion. Katrina Kaif’s character of Suraiyya could have been good, but her music, dancing, and costumes are extremely anachronistic. I enjoyed the chemistry between Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Firangi’s friend, but there isn’t a lot to recommend this film. Favorite song is Vashmalle.

Bauua (Shah Rukh Khan), a little person, falls in love with Aafia (Anushka Sharma), a scientist with cerebral palsy. However, he is unable to commit to growing up and leaves her on their wedding day to participate in a dance competition that would give him the chance of meeting the woman of his dreams: actress Babita Kumari (Katrina Kaif).

Zero is another romance that shows Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t know how to age gracefully and choose roles that will work for him instead of being the latest gimmick. It also can’t stick to what kind of movie it wants to be and takes too long. I liked Babita Kumari and her journey in the movie (except that really weird scene with Bauua), but she’s not the point of the movie. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub is great as Bauua’s friend Guddu. Favorite songs are Husn Parcham, Heer Badnaam, and Tanha Hua. None of the songs have subtitles.

Corrupt Inspector Sangram “Simmba” Bhalerao (Ranveer Singh) is transferred to Miramar. There he aids the local crime lord Durva (Sonu Sood) and helps carry out his dirty work for a fee. When Aakruti (Vaidehi Parshurami), who teaches poor children and reminds Simmba his own teacher as a child, is murdered by Durva’s brothers Sada (Amrit Singh) and Giri (Saurabh Gokhale), Simmba must decide whether he values people or money more.

TW for movie: rape, fridging. Simmba is pretty much exactly what I expected from a Rohit Shetty film. The first half is quite good because Ranveer Singh does a wonderful job inhabiting his character. The second half gets a bit preachy, but is still mostly good. I’m a bit sad Rohit Shetty decided to make it part of his SCU (Singham Cinematic Universe) because it made the ending feel a bit like a cop-out. Favorite songs are Aala Re Aala, Bandeya Rey Bandeya (audio only), and Mera Wala Dance. None of the songs have subtitles.

Katrina Kaif: I’m in a new phase of unlearning, re learning and learning a lot of things

Katrina Kaif is all excited about her upcoming film Bharat in which she stars alongside Salman Khan. In an interview, the actress talked about the appreciation she is receiving for her work. Read on.

Katrina Kaif received a lot of praises for her performance as Babita Kumar in Aanand L Rai's Zero. The film also starredShah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. The actress is now excited about her upcoming film Bharat in which she is seen in a never-seen-before avatar. In Bharat, she stars alongside Salman Khan and the audience is really looking forward to seeing them together again.

In an interview with DNA, Kat expressed her happiness of doing exciting projects and how people are appreciating her work. Katrina Kaif told the daily that she is feeling really inspired and work is giving her a lot of joy right now. She said, "I’m in a new phase of unlearning, re-learning and learning a lot of things."

Kat further added that her path is being crossed by many interesting makers and creative people who are teaching her a lot of things. She didn't expect all this would happen. She is feeling rejuvenated and nice as she is experiencing new learning and new energy around her. The Phantom star shared that she feels good when people tell her that there is a growth in her as an actor.

Bharat is all slated to release on Eid this year.

After Bharat, Katrina Kaif will start shooting for Sooryanvanshi in which she stars alongside Akshay Kumar. The film is being helmed by Akshay Kumar and produced by Karan Johar.
