Honestly, for an emperor who is divine-right entitled to any woman in that palace, this was the mildest thing ever. (I wonder how people only used to youth sageuks which have modern people playing dress up would take that though - probably not well - but it's just as well if they peace out before all the murder starts because nobody in this except Wang Yu ends up untainted.)

And he BEGSSSSSSS. I love how this is shot, with him beneath her, looking up at her, even though she's a tribute servant and he's the freaking emperor.

🔴. What trait in your OC do people not see very often?

Ædith is so very gentle. I touched on it a bit in the last ask, but basically she's loud and bossy a lot but can be gentle when necessary. When Ira breaks, she's quiet and holds him when he cries. When Brandi or Zoltan get injured, she's careful to help take care of their wounds and make sure they're okay. In a modern au, she could be a nurse or kindergarten teacher.

🟢. What is considered a weakness in your OC that is actually a strength? What is considered a strength but is actually a weakness?

Augustus! He's so cautious. A lot of people call him a coward but it's allowed him to save a lot of citizens from dying during what is basically the apocalypse.

A weakness that people call a strength would be his love for his family. The old one. Juno would say it's sweet that he still loves them all those years later, but holding on hurts him more than it helps him.

🔵. How would your OC spend a single day of uninterrupted peace? Where would they go and who would they be with?

Rurik would spend it with his family, he loves them a lot. He would probably take his kids down to see the river and then help his wife cook so she can have a break. He's the breadwinner so she does most of the housekeeping but on a free day, he'd cook and clean so his wife can rest.

🟣. What's something your OC could not live without?

Regnar would die of sadness if he was away from Dagny for more than a few months, hence his decision to go out looking for her. He knows she's on her way to the north to bring Filpa home and he goes out looking for her because it's dangerous and he cares about her.

On a more literal level, he dies if he's away from the city for too long so the journey does kill him a bit.

⚫. When was the moment in your OC's life when they felt most in control and secure?

For Volkaire, it's at the beginning of the story, right after Ædith's arrest. Ira is distraught but he manages to convince them to go and fight a war and not to worry about Ædith. Volkaire managed to make Ira think nothing of Ædith's situation, despite the fact that Ædith is the second most important person to him. This amount of control over Ira is exactly what he's always wanted and it's gained through the most horrible and dubious methods one could ever imagine.

⚽. Who is someone that your OC believes in and roots for?

Yagaan and Rurik both worship Odeda, even though it is taboo in both of their hoem countries.

Pylark hates Odeda because it is the goddess their oppressors worship and Nini hates Odeda because the country collectively is kinda spineless when it comes to wars and conflicts.

Rurik's worship of Odeda represents his willingness to see all sides of the conflict when his fellow men would (rightfully) attack Ira blindly. Like, the Pylarkians aren't in the wrong for not trusting Ira and Ædith but also Rurik did do the correct thing here.

Yagaan's worship of Odeda represents her will to fight for what she believes is right, even when everyone else tells her not to and to sit back and watch.

They're both passionate people who can't watch as a tyrannical emperor tries to become as powerful as the gods.
