So what's your opinion about the match then?
Hm. It’s not that easy. I can’t just say we defended horribly or we played exceptionally well because we did neither. I didn’t saw us playing that well yesterday (but pressing against a team like RM that just won’t loose the fucking ball isn’t thaaat easy…). What I saw was a young team with a new trainer that’s doing pretty well in a situation that’s extremely hard to master (new style of playing, new/young players, many injuries…). I saw our team put on a real fight against a team that’s on a completely other level in general atm (bc as much as I booed and insulted real madrid with every fibre of my beeing yesterday, even I have to admit that they’re playing a pretty decent football right now).
We had a small chance yesterday - if we could have scored again after the 2:1 - during a phase where we were pressing extremely well and the stadium was fucking LOUD… - but we didn’t and thats okay. We are still developing and adjusting to the new situation and we already made a huge step forward since Tottenham.
But what else I saw: We are finally playing FOOTBALL again - and not some kind of “field-chess”. We are entertaining, I can watch us playing and really enjoy it for 90 minutes and more even when we loose.
Also: the stadium is starting to come back. The atmosphere against Gladbach was terrific. Yesterday we had our ups and downs but… Tbh I can’t remember the last time the whole stadium randomly stood up and joined the chants but yesterday they did and it was amazing. We can be so fucking loud and hopefully it will happen more often again.
