Are you ready for "The Future"? That's the name of upcoming album from one of our favorite bands: From Ashes to New. In 2017 FATN came through some band member changes and half of the band are new members now. Do you think it's one of the worst things that can happen to a band? Maybe, but not for this band. From Ashes to New made the best of it and now they are back with new music! The Future comes out on 20th April and we can't wait to hear the whole album.

Black Veil Brides CZ and New Years Day CZ & SK sat down with New Years Day's guitarist Nikki Misery after their show in Prague, Czech Republic on February 9th to talk about their new music, concept of idols and the importance of one's image in today's showbusiness.

BVB CZ: This is your second time in Prague, do you remember the first time you were here?

Nikki: Yeah, that was gnarly!

And what was it like..?

It looked like we were playing this mental.. mental institute and I remember just crowd being insane, and I threw my guitar at the drummer, and he fell off .. on the equipment. That was a fun show.

And the fans were like *demonstrating how fans were falling on the stage*

Yeah, that was awesome. I thought we broke everything for a second.... No, we didn't.

Have you had chance to see the city?

I haven’t yet, I must have been here all day.

Have you tried Czech beer?

Eh?

Czech bier.. have you tried it?

Last time I was here and I like beer so.. Did you like it..?

Of course.

A few months ago you were on tour with Marilyn Manson, who is your other hero you would love to tour with?

I’m trying not to keep heroes, so really just anybody who has a passion for music and puts on a kick ass show is who I wanna tour with, plays some good rock n roll music, having a party, have a good time. That’s it. I don't care who it is.

You were recording a music video last year, it was somewhere in the desert.. Can we expect it to be released soon or..?

No.

No?

It'll never come out.

I’m just kidding, yeah we just got a final cut of it the other day and it looks awesome! A release date, though, is not yet available to us either. 

(*video is coming out Feb. 16th*)

You can’t tell us what song it is, right?

I can’t… I can’t.

I thought that.

What are your main plans for this year?

Just keep playing, that’s it. I only kind of take things one day at a time. I know we got a couple tours lined up, I know we do some Europe festivals, we got some UK festivals, and we got a UK tour coming up..

… and European tour.

And what about some new music..?

We're actually gonna go record a couple tunes when we get back. And we have another really cool thing that’s gonna be coming up and we get to record but I can’t tell you .. but I promise it's gonna be awesome.

What songs from the Malevolence album are you proud of the most?

‘Kill Or Be Killed’ and ‘Malevolence’ itself. I think those are awesome. I’m really exited to play ‘Scream’ one day cause it’s just such a jamming tune... but Malevolence is probably my favorite.

Do you think that music nowadays is as important as image or personality of an artist?

Absolutely! I think people who just focus on just music are only doing like half the work. I mean, when people go to a show, they wanna see a show. You know, when you go to see Kiss, you are not just expecting their songs, you wanna see the outfits, the make-up, just the larger than life characters. You wanna see the fire, the guitars, the things falling.  I think that the image and the stage performance and how you present yourself is absolutely as important to the music.

And I think those who don’t are just pretty much cheating the fans.

Do you have any message for BVB fans who don’t know who you are so they will start to listen to your music?

Yeah, listen to the music *laughs*

And why New Years Day? What makes you special?

We bring a spirit of punk rock tune. We have a nihilistic attitude. It’s, you know you have poppy choruses, catchy riffs but when you go you see bunch of like... We're kind of like punkers out there with guitarists playing and trying to break stuff... It’s a show. I mean, as you can see from tonight like we're all full force every night.

Ashley said this was the best show so far. Do you agree with her?

Oh, absolutely! Something like today has never happened. I’ve never seen anybody doing encore for any support bands. That was the most insane thing ever.

I’m glad we built such a strong fanbase here.

The last bonus question: We have one letter that no one else in the world has - it’s ‘Ř’. Can you try to say that? Ř
