Hey if it helps. I would plan for over a year of tight fiscal spending and ecorage your neighbors to do the same (through not participating in consumer leasuir) so to ideally to triangulate pressure even more pressure on the industry. Possibly on the worker class end by refusing service to those people who are making those decisions service not to give them fair pay. Out right deny and shun. No matter the cost.

It's crazy that these strikes are happening given that all the writers and actors are asking for is less than 0.3% of the revenue these studios make.

kim is such a funny little guy like he emphasizes how little the rcm salary is when you ask about it (5500 reál annually- 460/mo) but here he is with his nice electronic sports watch and his little instant camera and his fancy revolutionary cosplay for plainclothes and he's living in the GRIH which can't be cheap and he's got his fancy little mnemotechnique notebooks which are like the moleskine of elysium i guess and his fancy little ballpoints that he does NOT want to share with you which i bet is because they cost him like a week of salary. and this is the rcm he's not getting stipends for supplies or watches or housing or probably even the gas for the kineema. poor as fuck but he is going to buy himself his little treats god damn it. if he lived in our world you know he'd be out getting himself a $9 vanilla soy milk half caf dirty chai iced latte every morning on the way to the station and eating instant noodles every night to claw out room in the budget for it

I had to quit my job very suddenly, without a full-time gig at the ready [I'm blessed to have found a part-time gig very quickly, 5 min walk from my apt] and I've never been so glad that I buy in bulk + I started low-stakes prepping [prepping for Tuesday, not doomsday, ie preparing for common bad weather for your area, job loss, illness, etc].
I went grocery shopping over 1 month ago, [I did pick up snacks since lol]. I got my bulk dry goods [lentils, black beans, chickpeas] at the end of May, and I still have quite a bit. The only things I NEED to buy [as in, need to buy as to not rlly disrupt my habits] are eggs, vegetables, and ketchup. idk I could live off of legumes and rice and tuna salad but my gf doesn't want to do that smh.
I bought a dozen or so jars of salsa when they were on sale at Aldi ages ago, which would be great in rice and beans. I have a ton of chickpea pasta bc again, sale. and have cheese sauce in the freezer. I made hummus from dried chickpeas for a get-together and have chips/crackers [I can also make those myself when I run out]. I made lentil soup the other day [which I made too spicy whoops. it's been great to add to scrambled eggs, it cuts the spice, adds fiber and other nutrients, and it lowers the amount of eggs I need to make a solid breakfast]. I cannot recommend buying in bulk enough. it's a bit more up front but the peace of mind is worth it.

Oh I hate when more middle to high class (not rich rich) start to latch onto things poor people have done since forever and make it into ~fancy~ stuff like:
-Biking to your job
-Eating leftovers
-Buying from thrift store/getting hand downs
-Avoid eating out
-Taking walks instead of using your car
"Oh look at this new trick to save money/save the environment" Babe you're stealing poor people culture and gentrifying it instead of making accessible for everyone

the war between "this is cheaper to buy in bulk" vs "the pricier option will take far less time and energy to prep and eat" is much more constant than I would like it to be

It's scented powder day!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that I have more of my favorite perfume, I can use some of my dwindling former supply (look at the difference in levels between these two pictures. 😅) to make violet-scented body powder for springtime! I did this a few years ago and it was LOVELY, so I'm so excited to have some again!

I wish more people could wrap their heads around “labor rights and a strong social safety net are important not just to the very poor, both on principle and because weakening those things means that more people end up in poverty” and “people at different socioeconomic levels have different experiences even if you disregard the very rich, and people can be viciously classist even if they don’t have all that much money themselves.” Also, if there could be a moratorium on “if you were really poor, you wouldn’t have/do [thing that varies a lot in expense depending on a million different factors].”

So many people claiming to treat eating disorders do not understand the complexities regarding peoples relationship with food and just over pathologize every little thing.
Many folks will never be able to just eat what they want without thinking about it, they’d get very sick if they don’t read a label. that’s not ED. Intention matters.

okay now I'm thinking about Sally and Percy and food and just.
food is very much a part of their relationship canonically.
I'm thinking about after TLT before SOM where Percy goes home and there's this weird energy between them.
He did watch the closest person to him, the person who was his only advocate for a long time, die painfully in front of him to save him.
He probably spent a while trying to avoid thinking of how to live without her.
I imagine Sally did too, probably teaching him things that other kids learn much farther down the road. That possibility is now frighteningly real, realer than it has ever been, and Sally certainly spent time weighed down with it during pregnancy.
I'm picturing a day when the memory sits heavy on them both, the air in the apartment charged with it.
And then Sally gets up and calls him into the kitchen, and they cook together.
Nobody talks about it, but they both know.
There was always the chance that Sally didn't leave the underworld that time. That it could happen again, because Sally would always, always make the choice to step in front of sure doom for Percy, and she wanted to at least make sure he had this if it ends differently next time.
Not just knowing how to cook, but the memory of this, her love for him and her desperate hope he makes it into adulthood to need these skills. That they both grow old enough that these contingencies are useful. Like a prayer. And even if he doesn't make it there (though the thought is a brutal pain worse than the Minotaur) that the memory at least warms him should death steal him away.

Bro those restock videos are crazy like the motivation these people have and the amount of money they make to go out and buy all these storage bins and containers and take things out of containers and put in other containers and make labels and constantly restock and clean every week and dust and polis and vacuum and everything is crazy. I vacuum the floor when it looks dirty and I forget about dusting and I do the laundry when it needs to be done. I occasionally vacuum around the toilet or wipe down the countertops but jeez. And some of the things these people have, what country do they live in? What you mean the curtains are controlled by a remote and how does your sink do that and what kind of soap dispenser is that and why do you need so much makeup and what’s with all those containers and who pre washes vegetables before you eat them? Some of it makes sense and some of it doesn’t but boy do they kinda is satisfying to watch
