CHAPTER: 2

The hustle and bustle of the concert venue give way to the sterile, antiseptic atmosphere of the hospital emergency room. Jungkook is swiftly wheeled in, surrounded by a flurry of medical personnel, leaving the rest of BTS and their manager to gather anxiously in the cramped waiting room. The harsh fluorescent lights cast a cold glow over the somber group as they huddle together, the air heavy with tension and uncertainty. Time seems to stretch on endlessly, each passing minute feeling like an eternity as they wait with bated breath for any news of Jungkook's condition.

Finally, the quiet hum of anticipation is interrupted by the approach of heavy footsteps echoing down the hallway. The door to the waiting room swings open, and a doctor stands in the doorway, his expression grave. Without a word, he gestures for the group to follow him, his movements solemn and deliberate. With hearts heavy with dread, BTS and their manager rise from their seats, a silent procession trailing after the doctor as he leads them through the labyrinthine corridors of the hospital.

They arrive at a nondescript door, the simple wooden frame a stark reminder of the gravity of their situation. With a gentle push, the doctor opens the door, revealing a scene that takes their breath away. Jungkook lies still on the hospital bed, his face pale and drawn with pain. The room is suffused with an oppressive sense of despair, the weight of their collective fear pressing down on them like a leaden blanket.

Shock ripples through the group like a tidal wave, each member grappling with their own overwhelming emotions. Jimin's eyes fill with tears, his hands trembling as he struggles to comprehend the magnitude of what has transpired. Jin, usually the picture of composure, crumbles under the weight of his emotions, his shoulders shaking with silent sobs as he tries to process the thought of Jungkook's pain. Taehyung's usually bright smile fades, replaced by a mask of anguish at the sight of his friend in distress.

"the muscles around his lower spine took most of the damage, they have been strained and bruised, one even tore. But unfortunately the scan shows signs of a small fracture on a spinal disc. although this should not be too bad, there is no certainty that you will be able to walk again. it is highly likely you will need to go to physical therapy to relearn how to walk. until then you'll have to stay here for a while for treatment and recovery or be transferred over to a private hospital if you would want." the doctor spoke, before leaving the room.

And Jungkook himself, conscious but in agony, feels as if the ground has been ripped out from under him. The doctor's words hang heavy in the air, their finality like a death knell ringing in his ears. He fights to hold back the flood of emotions threatening to overwhelm him, his body trembling with the effort as he grapples with the sheer enormity of his situation.

In that moment, as they stand on the precipice of an uncertain tomorrow.

“Where does the path of the Army begin?”

Have you ever wondered how many people, just walking past the stadium where I play BTS, are keen on their work? here’s a normal evening, usually a day’s, and here you go home from work / study or walk, just go home and hear music, think “the next performance of the next star is not interesting”, and this “not interesting” is sitting in your brain, and you you involuntarily start singing tomorrow / the day after tomorrow / in a week. then it becomes more interesting to you who is still guilty that these couple of lines do not give you peace of mind. You go on the Internet, type, search and find. You find the meaning of life, Of course you don’t understand this, but it is so far. You find the meaning of life in e seven guys who just do what they like, do it with all their heart. they are one of the few who create, plow and literally torment themselves not for high ratings, big fees and money, they do it because they like do it. and now you don’t understand how you watched one, second, third video or listened to the tenth song, you don’t understand how you became interested in the names of these guys. You find their social networks, photos, and now you know what’s the name of three, then five, all seven. you start to delve into all their affairs and this does not interfere with your m cases, no, quite the contrary, is pushing you to do something. you start to sing along not only to the lines that you heard for the first time, but already know almost by heart half the songs. everyone says that you are crazy, but you don’t care because you know that it’s not so. these guys each day they pull you out of a state of hysteria after a hard day, they help you, save you and support you even at a distance of thousands of km. you loved yourself thanks to them, and finally, looking in the mirror, you don’t want to say “what horror, take it away”, you have less and less thoughts that you cannot realize your dreams, and in your head there is only a distinct “fighting” and a clear plan for the future. These seven taught you to perceive yourself without embarrassment and disgust, they did what the people around you could not do throughout your life. So maybe thanks to these seven you finally becoming normal, but not losing your mind? You finally lived to the point of accepting yourself that is normal for a normal person, so why is it called abnormal? yes, someone will say that it’s a disease, someone will call it addiction, some will consider it abnormal, others will continue to assure you that you are crazy, many will not understand it, but you finally found a family, and this is not easy those seven guys, these are millions of people standing behind the backs of seven. this is their army, and you became part of this army, you became part of a big family, which for the seventh year has been brought up by the stunning Big Hit company and the stunning BTS guys. and day after day this thousands of people come to the family, it is impossible to imagine how many people are under support in the BTS, how many people make friends in the army, and how many human lives these seven saved. and how did it start, do you remember? normal evening, you just walked home and heard the music ...

CHAPTER 5: THE PHOENIX RISES FROM THE ASHES

it's been months now. BTS is set for a comeback.

The arena hummed with excitement, a palpable energy coursing through the air as fans eagerly awaited the arrival of their beloved idols. In the backstage corridors, BTS prepared for their momentous performance, their hearts pounding with a mix of nerves and anticipation.

Jungkook leaned in close to his manager, their heads bowed in a private conversation amidst the chaos of the backstage area. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he shared his secret plan, a plan that would leave both his bandmates and fans speechless. The manager nodded solemnly, understanding the weight of Jungkook's decision and the importance of keeping it under wraps until the perfect moment.

As the lights dimmed and the opening chords echoed through the arena, the crowd erupted into thunderous applause. BTS burst onto the stage, their presence commanding, their energy infectious as they launched into their performance. The audience sang along to every word, their voices blending into a harmonious chorus that filled the air with euphoria.

Halfway through the concert, as the audience was caught up in the rhythm of the music, a sudden shift in atmosphere seized their attention. From the wings of the stage emerged Jungkook's wheelchair, propelled by unseen hands. Gasps of surprise rippled through the crowd as all eyes turned towards the unexpected sight.

With a mixture of nervousness and determination, Jungkook approached the microphone, his heart pounding in his chest. The weight of the moment hung heavy in the air as he addressed the audience, his voice trembling with emotion. "I've missed you all more than words can say," he began, his voice barely above a whisper, yet reverberating with raw emotion. "But tonight, I want to share something special with you."

As the anticipation reached its peak, Jungkook summoned every ounce of courage within him and pushed himself out of his wheelchair. The collective gasp that swept through the crowd was deafening, a moment frozen in time as Jungkook stood before them. Tears welled in the eyes of fans and bandmates alike as they witnessed his remarkable feat.

Across the stage, the members of BTS stood in awe, their eyes wide with disbelief. Tears glistened in Jimin's eyes as he watched his friend defy the odds. Yoongi, usually composed, was unable to contain his emotions, tears streaming down his face as he witnessed this. he felt relief, and so did everyone else. As Jungkook made his way towards his bandmates, the distance between them bridged by his determination, they rushed to meet him. Arms enveloped him in a tight embrace, laughter mingling with tears of joy. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated emotion.

For Jungkook, it was more than just a step forward. And as they stood together, bathed in the glow of love and acceptance, they knew that anything was possible. The stage was not just a platform for performance; it was a sacred space where dreams were realized and miracles happen.

Jungkook gazed out at the sea of fans, their unwavering support a beacon of hope in his journey of recovery. "I’m not fully back to where I was," he began, his voice steady with determination, "and it might take a while. But I promise, I will perform again. It won’t be exactly like before, but I will keep giving you everything I have. Thank you for believing in me."

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, their cheers echoing through the stadium as Jungkook's words washed over them. Among the countless faces, Jungkook's eyes caught sight of one in particular – Hana, the ARMY member who had penned a heartfelt letter sharing her own battle with cancer and how Jungkook's presence had brought her comfort and strength during her darkest days.

With a grateful smile, Jungkook reached out to Hana, his voice filled with sincerity as he spoke directly to her and to the millions of ARMY around the world. "Hana, thank you for sharing your story with me. Your courage and resilience inspire me every day. And to all of you," he continued, his gaze sweeping over the crowd, "thank you for being my light in the darkest of times. Your love and support have been my guiding stars, and I am forever grateful."

The night drew to a close with a poignant performance of "Spring Day," the lyrics resonating deeply with everyone present. Jungkook's journey was far from over, but his spirit had proven unbreakable. His story of resilience became an inspiration, a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of dreams.

Epilogue:

BTS continued to break records and touch hearts around the globe, with Jungkook's journey adding a new chapter to their incredible story. The golden maknae had risen, like a phoenix from the ashes, stronger and more radiant than ever before. And as he looked out at the sea of fans who had stood by him through it all, he knew that together, they could overcome anything.

I ship Jikook.  I ship them hard.  However, my reaction to WDTA Pt. 2 is not in any way primarily dictated by that.  I am reacting to Jungkook and Jimin’s Festa 2017 duet as an ARMY first… as a Jimin stan, second… and as a Jikook/Kookmin shipper, third.  And this is what I love and find to be fascinating:

 I love that BTS recognizes that putting these two boys’ voices together in a cover is pure delight and definitely spells magic.  I mean, c’mon, Jimin’s voice is cream to Jungkook’s cheese.  I also love that Jimin, in spite of his insecurity with the English language, went ahead and did the song regardless.  It must have been difficult for him to conquer that fear, but conquer he did because the song was supposed to be his gift to ARMYs, as much as it was Jungkook’s.

 What is fascinating, however, is the idea that the song is perhaps Jungkook’s gift to Jimin as much as it is his gift to ARMYs.  I say this because, well, Jungkook has already covered the song before when he did it solo a few months prior.  And what he did the first time was already excellent in itself.  When the idea of a duet with Jimin for Festa was broached, he could have chosen to do another song, one he hasn’t already covered, because that would sound fresh and new, and in the process dodging the risk of sounding rehashed.  But he didn’t.  He stuck with WDTA, and I highly suspect it wasn’t because the song is extremely popular. And that’s why I think the song is his gift to Jimin – he knew that with this cover, the fans’ attention would not be so much on him, but on Jimin, precisely because we have heard Jungkook’s take on the song already.  He took the first verses and the first chorus because he knew the importance of buildup, the breathless anticipation for “the other” voice, the cream to his cheese. He knew that once Jimin’s voice got through after the buildup, all fangirl/fanboy shrieks of delight and sighs of adoration would be Jimin’s.  That’s what he wanted for Jimin, what he wanted to give Jimin.  That, right there, is selfless generosity at its finest!  That single act, woven in this one heartwarming song, speaks quietly but oh so clearly of family and friendship.  It speaks of artistic graciousness.  It speaks of love.  Jimin would have been scared to cover an English song alone, that’s a given.  But Jungkook was there to guide him through it, to cheer him on, and to lend his own voice, so that the world would get to hear Jimin’s.  His voice with Jimin’s.  Jimin’s voice with his.  Cream and cheese.  Cheese and cream.  And what a beautiful gift this is to ARMYs!
