JOKE-OGRAPHY: 1. In this Bible story, Joseph and Mary bring Jesus to the temple for His presentation, according to the Mosaic Law. While they're there, a totally righteous old dude named Simeon happens to be visiting at the same time. The Holy Spirit had promised Simeon that he wouldn't see death before he'd seen the Christ. When Simeon met the Holy Family and held Jesus, he knew this was the Christ he'd been promised. Then he blessed the parents and gave them a bittersweet prophecy about Jesus's future mission and the toll it would take. 2. As part of his prophecy, Simeon tells Mary, "This Child is destined for the rise and fall of many in Israel; a Sign that will be contradicted, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. And your own [heart/soul/self] a sword shall pierce." I've heard two interpretations of the "sword shall pierce" line. The first is that even Mary's immaculate heart will not be spared questioning by her Son, who tells His followers that His true family (and those who are truly blessed) are those who "hear the word of God and observe it"; of course, Mary did just that throughout her life, and proved it with her "yes" at the Annunciation, but by calling her blessedness into question before His followers, Jesus reveals to us exactly where her blessedness comes from. The second interpretation of Simeon's words is that Mary will be made to endure the passion and death of her only Son -- a suffering that would strike any mother to the core. Though I like both interpretations, in this cartoon, my wording assumes the latter. 3. In the Bible, when Simeon gives his "sword shall pierce" prophecy, the holy couple listens silently and attentively. In this cartoon, Mary is shown to interpret Simeon's words figuratively, preparing her for her Son's mission. Meanwhile, Joseph is shown to interpret Simeon's words literally, as if he's threatening to stab Mary himself like some kind of English thug from the 1400s... or the 2020s.

Nezuko… actually doesn’t know.

It wasn’t a conscious thought to go and bite at the other demon, it was just- involuntary. A means to protect herself, to survive and continue to experience interesting things. The thought of losing all that he’s experienced… the demon doesn’t like it.

They really don’t like that thought. The fact that it can all just… disappear, and become nothing- like all those demons that have crumpled away in the sunlight… it causes a prickly feeling to rise up along the person’s skin, digging deep.

As Suki jerks back, Nezuko pauses; pink eyes flicking up to look at brown ones.

They stay like that for a little bit; jaw clenched, pink nails digging into dark skin, muscles tense, Nezuko watches the other person intensely, predatorily, as if they’re about to pounce on the stranger at any second.

A while, too long of a while, passes, and the pink-eyed demon turns back; muscles relaxing, nails no longer digging into dark skin, and jaw unclenching.

She gives her trust to the other.

Ow.

For every knot that’s brushed through, every strand that’s spread apart, pain stabs into her skull, feeling like little tiny needles embedding themselves into the skin.

It happens again, and again, and again; until Nezuko can’t take it anymore and she snaps, swiveling his head back and biting down just an inch from Suki’s fingers.

A threat.

A threat, and an action built purely on instinct. If someone hurts you, hurt them. If someone poses a threat to you, hurt them. If someone does anything, hurt them.

They didn’t realize that all the other demon was doing was helping Nezuko, the pain causing an instant reaction from the wanderer of a demon. A demon who’s barely conscious in the real world, only reactive to threatening and interesting things.

I had a dream that the Stanley parable released an update where the settings person would allow you to check an ending to see how many times you had completed it and would add some commentary depending on how many times the selected ending was completed.

I remember that if you completed the skip button ending like 10 or more times you’d just get some dialogue that said “Jesus Christ.”
