WIP Wednesday (4/3) | Guardian Angel Neil AU (Part 151)

Neil has been rambling about something or other for about six minutes. Andrew tuned out at least three minutes ago. He can hear what’s being said, but it’s not registering at all. What is registering is the way Neil’s mouth moves when he speaks. And how the sun lights up his hair, making the curls shine like copper. And how his eyes shine on their own when he gets all animated, talking about something that interests him.

Andrew counts the angel’s freckles, getting to thirteen before Neil stops speaking and turns to give him a suspicious look. “Are you even paying attention?”

“Not really.” Andrew answers.

“Oh.” Neil visibly deflates and lets out a breath. “Then I’ll shut up I guess.”

He does as promised and Andrew wants to kick himself. But it’s not his fault Neil’s so goddamn pretty it makes Andrew’s brain malfunction. He continues to stare at the now-quiet angel, continuing his freckle counting. 

Neil moves slightly, interrupting.“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Because I want to kiss you,” escapes past Andrew’s teeth before he can stop it. And he freezes once the words tumble out of his idiotic mouth. Neil freezes too, for a moment.

“You what?” He finally asks, looking confused.

“I want to kiss you,” Andrew says again. What the fuck is wrong with him? Has his filter completely evaporated? He chews at his lips and waits for Neil to reject him, but the angel merely blinks.

“Then kiss me.”

Andrew’s gaze snaps to Neil’s, “What?”

“Kiss me.” Neil repeats with a smile, making Andrew’s heart stop. Is he serious? Is this a joke? Andrew gives him a good thirty seconds to laugh and take it back, but he doesn’t. He just looks at Andrew expectantly.

“Are you serious?”

“Yeah. I mean… I’ve only kissed, like, two people before and that was years ago. So I’m not good at it—”

“That’s okay,” Andrew says, his whole body suddenly too hot. He rises onto his knees and reaches out with a barely-shaking hand towards the angel’s face, gently cupping the skin of his cheek. It’s warm and soft, but not smooth— thanks to the burn marks under his eye. Andrew tenderly rubs the pad of his thumb against the scar, amazed that he can finally touch this man. Neil’s eye crinkles under the affection, but other than that he doesn’t move. Andrew swallows, “Don’t touch me.”

“I won’t.” Neil breathes, raising his hands up to show Andrew where they are. He tilts his head to lean into the touch and his eyelids flutter closed. God, Andrew never realized how long his lashes are. Or maybe he has. Oh fuck, why is he focusing on that?

Andrew finally presses their lips together and it sends a jolt through his entire being.

AUGHHHHH HELLO (fairly) NEW MUTUAL. oh good god social anxiety!! but AHHHHH HELLLOO i am absolutely in love with your brain! And if you wanted to yell about garashir (or mcspirk etc lol) i would absolutely be up <3333 i get into fandoms in the most unhinged way possible (through fanfic) (i have not actually watched tos or ds9 but kindly humor me when i say that my characterizations are mcspirk discord approved) but i have combed through a good 1/2 of the garashir fics on ao3 and i couldnt give a rat's ass about spoilers either so if you would want to scream about them... i would be very up for it!! (ive been meaning to get into drawing ds9 too and i think i might just catapult myself into doing it now FKDJKD)
