Some features may vary between optional and standard for different model years. Jaguar Land Rover Limited is constantly seeking ways to improve the specification, design and production of its vehicles, parts and accessories and alterations take place continually, and we reserve the right to change without notice. Customers are urged to consult your local Retailer for detailed 22 model year specifications and do not base an order on marketing imagery and specification alone. Now the global impact of micro-chip shortages is further affecting build specifications, options and launch timings. Due to the Covid pandemic we have been prevented or delayed in the creation of new images of current model years. It won our Car of the Year award during its debut year, while its impressive engineering has meant even older models still look modern and fresh today.Important note on imagery & specification. Range Rover Evoque history Range Rover Evoque Mk1: 2011-2018īased on the 2008 Land Rover LRX Concept, the first generation Evoque was launched in 2011 with three- and five-door models available. It may not be the most practical SUV and reliability can sometimes be an issue, but it offers tremendous kerb appeal and will suit families who want a comfortable cruiser with a little added sophistication. Stylish and good to drive, the compact SUV ably represents the Land Rover brand, offering a more affordable entry point into ownership than many of its bigger, more luxurious siblings. The Evoque is Land Rover's best-selling model, so buyers looking for a decent used example should be spoilt for choice. The top-spec Autobiography trim is only available in combination with the higher-powered petrol or diesel versions, and also with the plug-in hybrid variant. There are five basic equipment levels – Evoque, Evoque S, R-Dynamic, Edition, HST and Autobiography. The Range Rover Evoque is available with a choice of two diesel engines, three petrols and a plug-in hybrid unit, all coming with four-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic gearbox - although the entry diesel model is offered in front-wheel-drive form, too. The Evoque is the smallest Range Rover model that Land Rover produces and in its original form – introduced in 2011 – it was a car that set a precedent as a small yet luxurious SUV aimed squarely at a niche in the market. And while it’s likely that Evoques will be sold on looks alone, it’s encouraging that the car once again represents a viable alternative to favourites like the Audi Q3, Volvo XC40 and even JLR’s own Jaguar E-Pace. While SUV rivals including the BMW X2 offer a more engaging driving experience, the Evoque provides a focus on luxury and comfort that most buyers will prefer. But, the it's the Benefit-in-Kind savings for business users that will make the plug-in hybrid version particularly appealing. The standard equipment list is generous, while higher-spec models bring full-fat Range Rover appointments. The latest Range Rover Evoque has taken a big leap forward over the old model, adding fresh styling, up-to-date technology, a range of more efficient mild- and plug-in hybrid engines and extra touches of luxury and refinement inside.

2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA45 packs big character in a small footprint

2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA45 packs big character in a small footprint
Even with the large wheels, the GLA45 is pretty unassuming in daily operation.
Andrew Krok/Roadshow
The first-gen Mercedes GLA45 AMG sucked. It was an expensive heap that was perpetually uncomfortable and looked about as good as it drove. Thankfully, Mercedes-AMG learned some lessons over the years. Now, the new-for-2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA45 is a fully realized compact luxury crossover with a bonkers little powertrain tucked under the hood for good measure, making for one hell of a second act.
Like
Gobs of power
Carlike handling
Well-appointed interior
Don’t Like
Rides a little stiff
Low-speed driveline wonkiness
Tiny trunk
The original GLA-Class looked like a surprised hatchback wearing tall shoes. The gist is the same this time around — the second-gen GLA-Class is still basically a hatchback with a lift kit — but I think the look is more cohesive. The wide-eyed countenance has been swapped out in favor of something a little more streamlined, but I think the GLA45 looks best from behind, where a short overhang and those ever-present quadruple AMG tailpipes make for some aggressive aesthetics.
The GLA’s interior no longer feels woefully cheap. There is no tiny little screen floating atop a menagerie of dated buttons; instead, everything is mounted nice and low, and borrowing many different design staples from larger, more expensive Mercedes models means the interior feels far more precious than before, even though the dashboard is still mottled vinyl and there’s still a fair few instances of hard plastic scattered around. Being an AMG, I’m not surprised to see carbon fiber making an appearance on the dash and door panels, but thankfully, there isn’t so much of it that I feel like I’m headed to Hot Import Nights. Pair it with some more premium touches like proper metal on the optional Nappa-leather-wrapped steering wheel ($400), and you’ve got quite the nice place to spend some time.
Small cars need to prioritize function, since there isn’t a whole lot of excess space floating around. The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA45 has some solid interior packaging in this case, with a sufficiently deep cubby under the armrest, large door pockets and a big storage tray ahead of the cup holders. The crossover’s roof is pretty flat, which means back-row occupants have plenty of space, and it feels much airier when the $1,500 panoramic glass roof is thrown into the mix. Rear-seat storage options are limited, as the middle seat doesn’t convert to a folding armrest (unless you pay $360 for the privilege) and the door pockets are a little small, but folks in the back do get cargo nets on the front seat backs along with two USB-C ports and a 115-volt two-prong outlet, which is nice. However, despite being a hatchback, cargo space is on the paltry side; the GLA45’s 15.4-cubic-foot trunk pales in comparison to that of the Volvo XC40 (20.7), Audi Q3 (23.7) and BMW X1 (27.1).
Under the GLA45’s hood lies one of my personal favorite automotive engineering marvels: the M139 engine. Capable of making in excess of 400 horsepower in some current European-only applications, this high-strung turbocharged 2.0-liter I4 is built in its own high-tech corner of Mercedes-AMG’s Affalterbach engine facility, and it deserves that royal treatment. While the noise wavers somewhere between “angry beehive” and “angry farm equipment,” the 382 hp and 354 pound-feet of torque this engine delivers in the GLA45 is pitch-perfect.
It’s a strange engine, too; sure, it’ll sit down low in the revs and spit out torque as needed, but there’s a little bit of old-school Honda VTEC action happening here, because the M139 loves to rev. It will sit between 4,000 and 7,000 rpm all day, generating more motive force than any Michigan backroad can tolerate. The GLA45’s eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is hit or miss, though; while it delivers nearly instant shifts (and a little extra tailpipe theater) under heavy load, it’s not very smooth at lower speeds. If you feed it just a little more throttle than necessary, especially when the stop-start system is activated, it’ll lurch forward clunkily. Some sharp stabs of the throttle are met with a “hurry up and wait” attitude, too, as the transmission hunts for the gear it wants and then takes its sweet time bringing it up.
The rest of the GLA45’s driving experience is largely mode-dependent. The car is surprisingly chill in its default Comfort setting. The standard adaptive suspension is still sports-car stiff in this mode, but it’s smooth enough on nice roads to where I could envision long trips being more than manageable. Flip the switch to Sport and the GLA45 is ready to party; body roll disappears underfoot, the steering weight increases to nearly comical proportions and the transmission finally knows what gear it wants to be in ahead of time. It’s far too aggressive for any road that wasn’t paved yesterday, especially in post-snow Michigan where thaw cycles put smaller potholes inside of last year’s still-not-fixed large potholes, but it’s still a dang hoot.
Even the fuel economy isn’t the absolute pits. The EPA rates the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA45 at 20 miles per gallon city, 27 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined. For a nearly 400-hp performance car, that’s not bad at all, and in real-world driving I’m able to get surprisingly close to 30 mpg on the highway. A light foot will get you far.
The GLA’s cabin is properly upscale, and if you’ve been in any other modern Benz, it should feel pretty familiar, too.
Andrew Krok/Roadshow
Whereas the first-gen GLA-Class felt like more of a technological punishment, the opposite is the case with the 2021 GLA45. MBUX, the automaker’s latest and greatest infotainment system, is standard, residing on a 10.3-inch touchscreen with redundant physical controls on the steering wheel and center console. It’s a fabulous system, with a menu layout that doesn’t take long to master, responsiveness even shortly after a cold start and all the usual embedded frippery like a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The “Hey, Mercedes” natural-language voice recognition works brilliantly, as well. Charging comes by way of four USB ports total — a USB-C by the cup holders, a USB-A in the center armrest and a pair of USB-C ports in the back. Make sure your cords are up to date, though, because the USB-A port up front doesn’t support smartphone mirroring. Embedded navigation is a $1,295 option, and while it includes the neat augmented-reality turn-by-turn display, it may not be worth the scratch if you’re a smartphone fanatic.
While safety tech might not be at the front of your mind in a performance car, Mercedes-Benz makes sure it’s there — provided you feel like paying for it. Standard driver assists are limited to blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking. Plunk down $1,090 to add a surround-view camera and parking sensors, or drop $1,700 for full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring and route-based speed adaptation.
Don’t like the touchpad? Great! With MBUX, you can basically ignore it.
Andrew Krok/Roadshow
Despite all the fresh stuff plucked from higher branches on the Mercedes-Benz tree, the 2021 AMG GLA45 isn’t all that expensive. It’ll cost $55,550 including destination to get your foot in the door, and most of the available options are contained in inexpensive upgrade packages. My tester piles it on, including uprated leather, metallic paint, larger 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof and the navigation package, leaving the factory with a $62,150 window sticker. Not too shabby.
The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA45 doesn’t really have much true competition. Its diminutive footprint puts it a class below other higher-powered luxury utes like the BMW X3 M40i and the Audi SQ5, and there are no analogous variants of the BMW X1/X2 or Audi Q3 — the BMW X2 M35i could be close, I guess, but it’s closer to the slightly less peppy GLA35. That’s probably for the best, though, because any automaker would have a hard time topping the GLA45’s equal doses of entry-level luxury and flat-out powertrain insanity.

As duas híbridas ocupam o espaço intermediário. A Exclusive custa R$ 234.990, enquanto a Top vai a R$ 264.990.
As escolhas aparecem no visor central.
Tumblr media

Zlepšená hospodárnost postupnou elektrifikací, snížené emise a inovace v oblastech asistenčních systémů a digitálních služeb jsou základními prvky podzimní modernizace různých modelů BMW. Od listopadu 2020 budou všechny modelové řady BMW plnit nejpřísnější emisní standardy Euro 6d.
Rozšířená hospodárnost: světová premiéra pěti plug-in hybridních modelů BMW řady 5
Na podzim se rozšíří nabídka plug-in hybridních verzí BMW řady 5. Novinkou nabídky bude výkonné BMW 545e xDrive Sedan, BMW 530e Touring a BMW 530e xDrive Touring. Tyto modely doplní aktuálně dostupné BMW 530e Sedan a BMW 530e xDrive Sedan, takže počet plug-in hybridních verzí řady 5 se zvětší na pět.
Více dynamiky s menší spotřebou: nové vznětové řadové 6válce se 48V mild hybridní technologií v BMW řady 3 a BMW řady 8
BMW pokračuje v postupném snižování spotřeby paliva a produkce u emisí svého výrobního programu zaváděním 48voltové mild hybridní technologie.
Zlepšení jízdní dynamiky i spotřeby paliva bylo dosaženo dalším zdokonalením technologie BMW TwinPower Turbo a zároveň nasazením relativně výkonného startér-generátoru spolupracujícího s vlastní baterií. Dynamiku a současně akceleraci zlepšuje dodatečných 8 kW/11 koní dodávaných 48V startér-generátorem.
BMW řady 1, BMW řady 2 Gran Coupé: nové motory a nová volitelná výbava
Nové BMW 116i bude pohánět zážehový 3válec s výkonem 80 kW/109 koní a točivým momentem 190 Nm. K dispozici bude s 6stupňovou manuální převodovkou nebo s dvouspojkovou 7stupňovou převodovkou Steptronic. Nabídku této modelové řady doplní také nové BMW 120i, jehož zážehový 4válec nabídne výkon 131 kW/178 koní a točivý moment 280 Nm. U něj bude standardní výbavou dvouspojková 7stupňová převodovka Steptronic. Novou variantou BMW řady 2 Gran Coupé bude BMW 216d Gran Coupé s maximálním výkonem 85 kW/116 koní jeho vznětového 3válce kombinovaného výhradně s dvouspojkovou 7stupňovou převodovkou Steptronic.
Nabídku volitelné výbavy BMW řady 1 a BMW řady 2 Gran Coupé rozšíří expresivní zatmavené světlomety BMW Individual Shadow Line s tmavými vnitřními částmi v oblasti horních okrajů, které působí mimořádně expresivně.
if (sssp.displaySeznamAds()) { } else { var script = document.createElement("script"); script.setAttribute("src", "//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"); script.setAttribute("async", "async"); document.querySelector("body").appendChild(script); } (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Nová funkce Urban Cruise Control rozpoznávající semafory bude k dispozici pro BMW řady 3, BMW řady 5, BMW řady 6 Gran Turismo, BMW řady 8 a BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X7, BMW M5, BMW M8, BMW X5 M a BMW X6 M v rámci vzdálené aktualizace softwaru Remote Software Upgrade.
Nové digitální služby pro více radosti z jízdy: BMW News, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant s novými funkcemi osobního profilu s obrázkem a jednoduchým přihlášením
BMW X1 a BMW X2: nové varianty světlometů a BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line s rozšířeným obsahem
Příspěvek BMW chystá nové motory i výbavy. Multimediální systém bude umět přehrát i zvuk motoru jiných BMW pochází z auto-mania.cz

SUV or Sedan? 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe or 2020 BMW X1?
We’ve been living with the 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe for nearly half a year now, and the pint-sized sedan has been put through our daily routines and spontaneous adventures. While the 228i Gran Coupe was out on a road trip, I spent time with one of its platform siblings, the X1, to answer a frequently asked question today’s car shopper might have: What do you gain and give up by switching to an SUV?
BMW X1 or BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: How Practical?
For a small sedan with a swoopy roofline, the BMW 228i Gran Coupe is practical for a single person or a couple. The 15.1-cubic-foot trunk easily accommodates a week’s worth of groceries and a couple medium-sized pieces of luggage. However, you need to fold the 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat back for bulky items. An underfloor storage area and cargo floor that doubles as a divider provide extra flexibility. Unfortunately, the narrow trunk opening forces you to slide your belongings in, limiting what you can put back there.
Although the X1 gives up 2.5 inches in length to the 2 Series Gran Coupe, the SUV makes up for it in width and height. Both of those factors make the X1 better suited for hauling bulky items and for family vehicle duty. The added height behind the rear seats gives you the ability to stack cargo or carry more items upright when you have rear passengers. Like the 2 Series Gran Coupe, the X1 also has an underfloor storage area and trick cargo floor; however, the X1’s is deeper and fits more stuff. Dropping the standard 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat backs creates an expansive, squared-off area, perfect for runs to Ikea or Costco.
BMW X1 or BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: The Driving Experience
Unsurprisingly, the 2 Series Gran Coupe and X1 drive differently despite sharing the UKL2 platform, which also underpins the X2 and larger Mini models. The 2 Series Gran Coupe holds an advantage with its low-slung stance; there’s less body roll, and turn-in feels more immediate. By comparison, the X1 leans more because of its high center of gravity, and it’s not as willing to turn into a corner as its sedan sibling. Where the X1 has an advantage is ride quality. Even with the M Sport suspension, the X1 dispatches road imperfections better than the 2 Series Gran Coupe, which crashes over every bump and pothole.
Neither vehicle gives you much excitement, even with AWD. Pushing the 2 Series Gran Coupe makes it unpredictable and hard to manage because of its excessive understeer followed by sudden midcorner oversteer. In the X1, on the other hand, you’re constantly managing body motions and trail-braking to avoid plowing into a corner. Numb steering on both vehicles also means you never know exactly what the front wheels are doing. In the 2 Series Gran Coupe’s sportiest setting, the weighting becomes particularly heavy while remaining cold and disconnected.
Both vehicles are powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-four. Neither feels lacking; there’s always power on tap for passing and merging. The eight-speed automatic is also tuned well in the 228i, featuring smooth, snappy shifts, and rarely landing in the wrong gear. Sport mode sharpens the throttle response and enables the transmission to hold gears longer, keeping you in the engine’s sweet spot. In the X1, the same transmission is a little more relaxed in operation outside of Sport mode, hinting at its fuel economy–focused tuning.
BMW X1 or BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Safety
Surprisingly, BMW equipped the 2020 228i Gran Coupe generously with plenty of standard driver assistance features. Forward collision warning, front automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic high-beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert are standard across the 2 Series Gran Coupe lineup.
The X1 also gets similar standard driver assistance features but lacks blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. You can’t even get them as optional extras on any X1, which could be a possible deal-breaker for safety-focused consumers. Adaptive cruise control is a standalone option on both the 2 Series Gran Coupe and the X1, but you’ll have to opt for the Premium package to get it.
Both cars also lack the advanced driver assistance features found in larger BMW models and some of their competitors. Technologies such as evasive steering assist, rear automatic emergency braking, traffic jam assist, and lane centering aren’t offered on the 2 Series Gran Coupe or X1.
BMW X1 or BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Is the New iDrive That Much Better?
For tech lovers, BMW’s iDrive 7.0 system in the 2 Series Gran Coupe is a must-have. The latest interface is user-friendly and packed with cool tech features such as a built-in Spotify app and over-the-air updates to keep the software current. A quick-responding touchscreen and menu layouts reminiscent of your smartphone further simplify the learning curve.
The X1’s older iDrive 6 interface uses an outdated tile layout with multiple submenus. This version isn’t as intuitive as iDrive 7; you have to dig through at least two layers just to change the satellite radio station and handle other simple tasks, and it takes time to learn. The graphics also look dated and aren’t as crisp as the latest version, which also benefits from a larger touchscreen (10.3 inches on iDrive 7 versus 8.8 inches on iDrive 6).
The Verdict
Neither the X1 nor the Gran Coupe drives like BMWs of yore, with each catering to a distinct audience. The 228i Gran Coupe is for the single person or couple who values a unique vehicle and doesn’t need something super spacious. Given its versatility, the X1 is aimed at the small family or active individual who wants a useful compact SUV with a desirable badge. The X1’s cushier ride should also make road trips pleasant for more than two people.

Review: Mazda CX-30 Mild-Hybrid
The lockdown is in effect. I’m at home, wishing I was being productive at work. So if I can’t talk to you in the showroom about my favourite new cars, I’ll bring them to you.
Introducing the all-new Mazda CX-30 Mild-Hybrid.
When Mazda announced a new SUV for the European market, bigger than the CX-3 and smaller than the CX-5, you would be forgiven for expecting the CX-4. However, that name is already taken by a car built exclusively in China.
Introducing the Mazda CX-30. And it is a thing of beauty.
Based on the architecture of the award-winning all-new Mazda 3, the CX-30 uses many of the same parts at its core. But the CX-30 is fractionally shorter, and as expected with an SUV, sits significantly higher with a comfortable upright seating position.
Mazda are on their self-proclaimed; “Road To Premium”. Their new products are no longer aimed at taking customers from the likes of Ford and Toyota, but offering an alternative to German giants; Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz - And they do it well, but for significantly less.
Looks: Based on aesthetics alone, you can see how. The approach is distinctly Asian design house, but with the stereotypical big front grill that is so popular with its new European target audience. The lines are characteristically Mazda, flowing from their KODO school of design.
The new Mazda 3, and now the Mazda CX-30, have taken ques from Scandinavian simplicity. Gone are the individual fog lights, gone are additional pseudo-sporty plastic grills, and gone is the Shark fin antenna from the roof. The CX-30 imitates the Mazda 3’s stunning sleek design, and adds a practical SUV ruggedness.
Interior: If you thought the exterior was eye-catching, the interior of the Mazda CX-30 is one of the best cabins in its class. Arguably the best cabin in any class. Interiors have been something Mazda has excelled at for years.
The seats are comfortable and supportive, the materials feel high grade, the touchscreen is easy to use, and the lines flow perfectly. It’s simply a nice place to be.
Mazda believe in cabins being “driver-centric”. And as soon as you take a seat, you’ll see what they mean. The cabin has been created around the driver, ensuring every journey is comfortable. Not one of my customers has complained about discomfort in these.
Second, the touchscreen doesn’t need to be a touchscreen - which in my opinion is great. Mazda continue to use the MZD dial, next to the gearbox. This feel much more up-market than prodding at a display, it becomes intuitive almost immediately, and it also means you’ll never get sticky fingerprints all over your shiny new screen.
The software works perfectly. Using the MZD dial it flows easily from page to page, and the dashboards sleek looks owe a nod of thanks to this display. Hiding all the buttons for the CX-30’s high-tech features on pages for when they’re needed and hidden for when they’re not.
Engines: This is where it gets interesting.
Mazda have been bucking the trend for years. While other brands like VW and Ford have been putting tiny 1.0 turbo charged engines into larger and larger vehicles, Mazda have fitted a choice of two efficient 2.0 petrol engines – more on that in a moment.
First let’s answer that question; “if everyone else is doing it, why don’t Mazda?” Well, in laboratory conditions small turbo petrol engines make sense. However, in reality they are never as efficient on the road. It’s the equivalent of putting a plaster over the emissions problem and hoping it will go away. Instead, Mazda introduced us to ‘SkyActiv’ technology, a new design philosophy. In layman’s terms; by improving every facet of the car in order to improve quality and economy. Rather than a small turbo engine having to work hard under strain, and pouring away petrol, the larger Mazda engine is unstressed and refined. Not only is it quieter than its three-cylinder competitors, but Mazda believe it will have a longer life.
Now, back to the other question; “Why two 2.0 petrol engines?”. Along with Mazda’s most popular engine, the ‘SkyActiv-G’ 2.0 petrol, Mazda have introduced a brand-new engine: the ‘SkyActive-X’ 2.0 Petrol.
The difference: ‘Spark Controlled Compression Ignition’. This is something other companies have tried time-and-time again and failed. I could write at length about how it works, but I’d only bore or bewilder most readers. What it means to you, the driver, is that the ‘SkyActiv-X’ engine offers the free-revving power and refinement of a petrol, with the improved economy and reduced CO2 emissions of a diesel. Which also means lower Benefit-In-Kind tax for company car drivers.
‘SkyActiv-G’ 2.0 Petrol Mild-Hybrid: 120 BHP / 45.6 MPG (WLTP)
‘SkyActiv-X’ 2.0 Petrol Mild Hybrid: 180 BHP / 47.9 MPG (WLTP)
The Competition: It would be easy to compare the CX-30 with Crossovers & SUV’s from other brands; Audi’s Q3 (from £31,295) or the BMW X2 (From £29,725), but it simply isn’t a fair comparison. The Mazda is a fraction of the price (‘SEL’ from £22,895).
What you are getting is similar quality, but for a car that shares a similar price to its hyphenated cousins in the every-man category; VW’s T-Roc, Kia’s XCeed, and Honda’s H-RV.
Nowadays, only a handful of my customers walk into a showroom and buy a new car with cash, so talking about ‘price’ feels redundant. Really, we should be talking about cost. The new Mazda CX-30 is available from Leslies Motors on PCP, HP, or Lease. I often show my customers how these compare – I’d be happy to explain, you only have to ask.
Needless to say, a car that looks as good as this has desirability, and therefore holds a strong residual value. What this means to you, the buyer, is that you could have a car of this quality for significantly less a month than something that loses more of its value. It’s also worth noting, that although the new ‘SkyActiv-X’ Mild-hybrid engine adds almost £1,500 to the price, it adds only £2 a month to the cost a lease.
Choices:
The Value Choice: Mazda CX-30 ‘SEL’ 2.0 SkyActiv-G 2.0 Manual Mild-Hybrid.
The Range Topper: Mazda CX-30 ‘GT Sport Tech’ SkyActiv-X 2.0 Automatic Mild-Hybrid All-Wheel Drive.
Leslies Motors Favourite: Mazda CX-30 ‘Sport Lux’ 2.0 SkyActiv-X Manual Mild-Hybrid.
 Verdict:
Every brand worth its salt have at least one Crossover or SUV, and Mazda have proven time after time - with the CX-3, CX-5, and now the CX-30 - that they know what driver’s want. The Mazda CX-30 is smooth, refined, and its striking looks set it apart from the competition. Customers putting the CX-30 against the well-known European equivalents are going to be wonder what the extra money is being spent on - Personally, I think Mazda’s road to premium should have more expensive brands will have worried.
Test drive Leslies Motors Mazda CX-30 demonstrator to see for yourself.

Schwarzenegger can't help it: electric Mercedes G-Class
Series production of the electric G-model is not planned for the time being, says Christian Schlögl. Kreisel Electric is currently developing, among other things, drive systems for a large German car manufacturer and for suppliers. So the G-Class remains unique - with a huge celebrity factor as a figurehead for Austrian technology. However, there was no premiere at the Audi booth. The brand with the four rings is very "tired" at NAIAS in Detroit. No world premiere and hardly any visitors to the stand.
Tumblr media
The Terminator drives G-Class and the electric
The actor once drove, among other things, a Hummer H2 with hydrogen drive in his role as governor of California. In 2017, however, the governor relied on a battery-electric Mercedes G-Class from the Kreisel Electric company. that only about 70% of the 100% range is used in everyday operation. If a range of 300 km is reached with this 70%, then that is easily enough for normal everyday operation. The "normal citizen" rarely drives long distances. The staging is a symbol of the timelessness of the off-road legend and a conscious reference to the natural phenomenon of insects preserved in amber. published here I think most G-models won't or driven very little off-road, whoever drives off-road usually buys an older model. The vehicle's rechargeable batteries can be charged to 80% in just 25 minutes using quick charge. In the standard version, the Hummer H1 consumes up to 24 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers and has an emission of up to 470g CO2 per kilometer - after being “treated” by Kreisel Electric, it will be emission-free in the future. “With our electrified prototypes we want to show what is possible with gyro technology. We will certainly not build the models in series. This also includes the flagship EQS as the electrical equivalent of the S-Class, of which a spectacular concept car was already presented at the IAA 2019. Tuning Tuning for the Audi SQ8 TDI More diesel power from Abt Abt increases the already exuberant performance ex works and also sharpens the optics range up to 57 kilometers. New BMW X2 x-Drive 25e (2020) The X2 is also a plug-in hybrid BMW is also launching its plug-in SUV coupé. Like the Hummer H1, the Mercedes G presented in Kitzbühel is a project with which Kreisel Electric wants to demonstrate competence. The engineers had already converted several standard cars with their own technology into potent electric vehicles. The Mercedes G fits into the picture. Welcome to Detroit City! The new G-Class (W463) was presented at the North American International Auto Show last weekend. Although leaked pictures of the new G-Class were already on the web a few days before the world premiere, the tension on the new G-Wagon did not detract from this. The Michigan Theater, which has actually crumbled "Detroit-like" and functions as a parking garage, was quickly converted into a G-Rassic Park by Mercedes-Benz. A breathtaking backdrop! Mercedes-Fans.de was on site and summarizes the most important events again. 4x4Schweiz.ch is the first all-wheel drive online magazine in Switzerland. Find out from us interesting 4x4 news about all brands, exciting 4x4 test reports, current 4x4 events and everything about 4x4 clubs in Switzerland. It competes with the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. However, there is already an electric G-Class, because the Austrian company Kreisel Electric has removed the internal combustion engine and replaced it with an electric drive train. Kreisel Electric and none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger have already presented electrical conversions of the Hummer H1 and the G-Class. The latter delivers 483 hp and manages the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.6 seconds before reaching the end of the flagpole at 183 km / h.

Arnold Schwarzenegger drives a Mercedes G-Class with electric drive
"At least the construction with a lead frame would be well suited to accommodate the batteries," says Güthenke. This is really a nice toy. Technically, this is entirely feasible, the Swabians now explained. And for "trekking tours in the desert" or "at the front" you only have to install sockets there.
Top articles and videos
More for bankers and society hairdressers. Gunnar Güthenke, responsible for all SUVs from Mercedes and thus also for the G-Class, indicated in an interview with Auto Motor und Sport that the series would later also be available in an electric or hybrid version. Technically, thanks to its ladder frame, it is no problem to equip the off-roader with an electric motor and battery.

But seriously. Such a car is primarily built for the terrain. Spontaneously I think of Iceland, Morocco or Central and South America. In the future, "Governor" Arnold Schwarzenegger will be cruising through his adopted California home with the one-off, the price or manufacturing costs of which the company does not comment. The Austrian electric car specialist Kreisel has electrified two off-road vehicles for Arnold Schwarzenegger - a Mercedes G and a Hummer H1. "We assume that the car will do better than a normal G-Class in difficult terrain because of the high torque that is already at a standstill," said Christian Schlögl. On our e-mobility portal EFAHRER.com you will find all e-vehicles & hybrids available on the German market with technical data, prices, delivery times and model comparisons. Thanks to quick charging technology, according to Kreisel, charging up to 80 percent of the battery capacity is possible in 25 minutes. Kreisel - a specialist for electrical drive components based in Kitzbühel - wants to demonstrate its expertise in e-mobility with the conversion of the Mercedes G-Class. The basis was a G 350 d from 2016, in which the internal combustion engine was replaced by several electric motors. The e-machines are designed to mobilize a total of 360 kW / 490 PS, which allows a sprint time of 5.6 seconds and just over 180 km / h top speed.

Mercedes- The Undisputed King of the Automobile Market 2019
Tumblr media
Mercedes is considered an emblem of elegance and sportiness and was the architect of several revolutionary inventions that have improved driving standards and helped make cars safer. Prestigious brands. Used guaranteed. Presence on the territory. Attentive and professional customer service. These are the characteristics that make the company one of the leading realities regarding used Mercedes cars. Seriousness and professionalism are the key elements of success, translated today also through new technologies on the Web, with which we intend to combine transparency, efficiency, and convenience, aware as always that the comparison is our best advertisement.
Legendary Mercedes cars such as the 300 SL with "gull-wing" doors helped make the Mercedes star one of the best-known brands in the world. Opting for Mercedes used cars when you decide to make such an important purchase is a smart way to save money, but pay attention to the details. The purchase of used Mercedes cars has many advantages today, more than ever, thanks to the development of online sales portals that allow the motorist to find out about aesthetic and mechanical characteristics spending less than a new vehicle.
Buying Mercedes used cars by grabbing the Best Mercedes Lease Deals can reduce costs compared to new cars. Undoubtedly, there are many second-hand vehicles that guarantee excellent performance. Once you are ready to purchase used Mercedes cars, if you are not in a particular hurry, it is right to choose the best time to buy, as depending on the time of year the final price may vary, and the facilities may change about registrations.
Buying used Mercedes cars from the dealer, which adheres to the guaranteed used system, can be much more reassuring. The risk is lower, the guarantees offered more and it is easy to find used cars at 0 Km.
Mercedes, a world leader in the premium market for the 4th consecutive year
Even if there are still a few days left, the years seem to follow each other and look-alike for Mercedes, which continues to dominate the premium vehicle market. The German automaker is ahead of its BMW and Audi counterparts.
160,000 vehicles, here is the difference that there should be between Mercedes and BMW in the second half of 2019. A gap that will allow the firm with the star to confirm its position as a leader on the world premium market and this for the fourth consecutive year. A real performance. Two downsides to this good news, however: the double-digit years of growth, recorded from 2013 to 2017, are well and truly overdue to the downturn in the Chinese market and SUV sales are weakening despite the restyling of the GLC and the arrival of the new GLE. It is ultimately the compact models that ensure growth.
On the BMW side, the SUVs are in good shape. Their sales jumped 23% again to weigh 44% of the Bavarian firm's global sales mix, almost 7 points more than in 2018! And it is the same as Mini. As a reminder, BMW has seven SUVs in its range with the X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7.
Tumblr media
In third place is Audi. The Escondido Mercedes Dealer sees its sales stagnate after having dropped last year. Small consolation, the sales of the four rings in Europe are better than those of its competitors. The renewal of the A3 next year should allow Audi to further improve its sales figures.
Mercedes Class A- the leader of Mercedes
If we take care of the models, the highest person responsible for the dethronement of Audi in favor of the Stuttgart-based firm is the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, since with 12,498 units sold so far this year it stands in the car most demanded by the customers of the company. It should be remembered that the fourth edition of the Mercedes-Benz Class A arrived at our dealerships in the middle of last year, so 2019 is its first full exercise and sales figures support success at least more than acceptable for this car.
The main claims for which the Mercedes-Benz Class A opted in its last renovation were its exterior design, with a more determined aspect and focused on capturing a younger clientele, a digitized interior and loaded with technology inherited from the S-Class, in addition to a triple premiere of engines and the incorporation of a 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission.
An agitated 2020 to continue stepping on the accelerator
However, Mercedes-Benz wants to continue stepping on the accelerator in the market and for this, it already contemplates a road map in which electrification gains weight. In fact, by the beginning of 2020, the offer of models will grow with the inclusion of the plug-in hybrids Mercedes-Benz A 250e, B 250e, GLE 350 de, GLC 300e, in addition to the renewal of the GLB, GLE Coupé.
Later, in spring, it will be the turn of the GLA (including AMG 35); and in summer, the EQV, a new electric van with 204 hp, 405 km of autonomy and up to 8 seats to be manufactured in Vitoria; and the GLS Maybach, AMG GLE 63 Coupé, E-Class (Saloon and Estate, AMG 53 and 63) and AMG GLA 45.
Finally, in autumn, the lively 2020 year of Mercedes will complete the E-Class Coupé and Cabrio (including AMG 53), AMG GT Black Series, S-Class, AMG GT 4-door EQ Power, and S-Class Maybach.
All this, encompassed in a strategy through which the company has committed to all European factories of Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans and Daimler Trucks & Buses produce by 2022 with a neutral CO emissions footprint, something that is holy and Sign of the German installations of Sindelfingen since the beginning of its activity.

Sporty BMW X2 Revealed with March 2018 Launch
[See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] The all-new BMW X2 will launch with three model variants next year. Being marketed as a “Sports Activity Coupe,” the BMW X2 surprisingly resembles its concept that bowed at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The German automaker went with more aggressive styling on its newest crossover, hoping to appeal to younger buyers in urban environments. There’s a few design changes that break the mold for BMW on the X2, including the iconic kidney grilles. For the first time ever on a modern BMW, the kidney grilles widens from top to bottom, making them appear upside down compared to all other BMW vehicles. There’s also the placement of the brand’s logos on the C-pillars, bringing to mind legendary BMW models such as the 2000 CS and 3.0 CSL. At its launch, the BMW X2 will be available in three variants: Basic, M Sport, and M Sport X. The Basic model comes standard with 17-inch wheels and black, wraparound cladding strip, while the M Sport gets a sportier appearance with larger 19-inch standard wheels, certain design elements in Dark Shadow, and the side skirts and wheel arch trim finished in body color. Those looking at the M Sport X version will get design elements in Frozen Grey along with standard 19-inch wheels. The interior of each model is also different, with the Basic version coming with grid cloth Anthracite as standard, along with interior trim in Oxide Silver Dark with accent strip in high-gloss black. Four leather variants are available as an option. Stepping into the M Sport trim adds Aluminum Hexagon trim with accent strip in blue, standard contour lighting in the door trim, and optional perforated Dakota leather in black with M piping and blue contrast stitching. The cabin of the M Sport X model features Aluminum Hexagon Anthracite trim with an exclusive accept strip in Pearl-effect Chrome, while the seating boasts new cloth Micro Hexagon/Alcantara in Anthracite with M piping and yellow contrast stitching. SEE ALSO: 3 Things the BMW X7 Designer Loves About the Concept Car The Micro Hexagon/Alcantara combination in the M Sport X is the first time BMW has ever offered the interior combination. Other firsts for BMW include perforated Dakota leather in Magma Red, and two exterior colors that have never been used, Galvanic Gold metallic and Misano Blue metallic. The market launch of the BMW X2 will offer three engine choices, although we don’t expect all of them to head to North America. The BMW X2 sDrive20i boasts 192 horsepower, while the X2 xDrive20d will generate 190 hp. There’s also an X2 xDrive25d diesel with 231 hp. Both diesel models will come standard with xDrive all-wheel drive and an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, while the gasoline engine is paired to a seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch unit. Later on, BMW will add the three-cylinder X2 sDrive18i and the four-cylinder xDrive20i, sDrive18d, and xDrive18d. Options heading to the BMW X2 include a full-color BMW Head-Up Display, Apple CarPlay, and an array of driver assistance systems for a connected driving experience. Expect to hear more details and pricing closer to the 2019 BMW X2’s launch next year. “The BMW X2 represents an expression of modern and extrovert vehicle dynamics,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president BMW Group Design, in describing the new BMW X2. “Its standalone vehicle concept brings a new, fresh and exciting facet of the BMW to the compact segment.” Discuss this story on our BMW Forum The post Sporty BMW X2 Revealed with March 2018 Launch appeared first on AutoGuide.com News.

Audi vs BMW: which is better?
Tumblr media
In the pantheon of German extravagance brands, there are three predominant players: it's Audi versus BMW versus Mercedes-Benz. Despite the fact that the competition between the three has been seething on for right around 100 years, and the fight among BMW and Mercedes remains very savage, Audi versus BMW is the battle that has become opposing in the course of recent decades as the two brands forcefully seek after more youthful, well-off customers. The two brands keep on offering broad lineups of rich vehicles and SUVs, and both have created affirmed pre-possessed projects that keep on developing in prominence. In 2019, generally new and pre-claimed vehicle customers intrigued by extravagance, execution, and style as a rule end up cross shopping models from both Audi and BMW. Customers most every now and again make examinations between the omnipresent Audi A4 and the BMW 3 Series. Another basic correlation is the Audi Q5 versus the BMW X3. That is dexterous. It's imperative to contrast vehicles before you purchase and great information on what to search for. What's more, we're here to help you through that shopping procedure. Here we'll think about the two fruitful German extravagance brands and their most prominent models. We'll additionally respond to these significant inquiries: What is the contrast among Audi and BMW? Audi versus BMW: which is better? Which is increasingly dependable, Audi or BMW? Which is increasingly costly, Audi or BMW? Audi versus BMW: which has a superior notoriety? Which has lower support expenses, Audi or BMW? What is the contrast among Audi and BMW? Audi is quite of the Volkswagen Group, which likewise possesses Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini and Bugatti. BMW additionally claims Rolls-Royce and Mini. This permits Audi to share a considerable lot of the parts of its autos with its different brands. The Audi A3, for example, shares a portion of its foundation and powertrains with the VW Golf, while the Audi Q7 shares huge numbers of its parts with the Porsche Cayenne. In any case, it's BMW that offers a more extensive scope of motors and crossover powertrains. This assortment of advancements likewise incorporates a remarkable inline six-chamber motor, which is very smooth and stays mainstream in the 3 Series and X5. BMW likewise utilizes inline motors with four-chambers, V6 and V8 plans, and in the M760i it utilizes a twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 with 600 hp. The entirety of BMW's motors are turbocharged, which utilizes the motor fumes gases to turn a turbine that powers outside air into the motor at well above barometrical weight, expanding power, yet with no penance of efficiency. Audi additionally utilizes turbocharging widely, however its supercharged V6 is as yet utilized in the Q7.
BMW M4 DTM Motor
BMW additionally offers purchasers a larger number of businesses around the country than Audi. BMW has 341 businesses in the United States, while Audi has only 220. This may make it somewhat simpler to discover a BMW seller close to your home, particularly in the event that you live in suburbia. It might likewise make it simpler to locate the careful BMW model you're searching for in vendor stock and it might make it simpler to fund the terms of arrangement. This is significant when you're purchasing the vehicle, but at the same time it's imperative to have a seller closer to your home when the vehicle needs administration. Making a trip to a far away business for administration is certainly not a decent utilization of your time. A year ago BMW surpassed Audi in the United States. This is nothing new, BMW has been beating Audi in America industriously since the 1980s. In 2018 it was Mercedes that sold the most extravagance vehicles in the United States. Yet, it was close. Mercedes sold 315,959 vehicles a year ago, which was uniquely around 4,000 autos and SUVs in front of BMW, which completed in runner up. Lexus completed the year out in third spot, while Audi was fourth with 223,323 vehicles sold. Acura and Cadillac completed the year fifth and 6th. For the vast majority of the year, the BMW X3 was the brand's top-selling BMW model, while over at Audi the Q5 was its hit.
Audi versus BMW: which is better?
Twenty years prior this would have been a very simple inquiry to reply. On the off chance that you needed an incredible driving encounter and the most presentation you purchased a BMW. On the off chance that you needed the extra all-climate footing of an all-wheel drive framework since you live in a blanketed atmosphere, well, at that point you purchased an Audi. In any case, it's not exactly that rudimentary any longer. Today Audis are extraordinary drives. They're amazing and responsive. They're amusing to drive, they handle well and they like to be driven hard. Simultaneously, BMW has made an enormous interest taking all things together wheel drive innovation, which is currently offered on the entirety of its cars and obviously its SUVs. Audi additionally once had a bit of leeway over BMW when it came to inside structure, but at the same time that is not true anymore. In any case, we need to give the edge to BMW. The brand keeps on utilizing back wheel drive engineering all through its line up, which gives better equalization, more prominent reaction and at last preferable taking care of over the subjugating front-wheel drive design utilized by Audi. Front wheel drive stages, which Audi utilizes in its cars, just as its prevalent Q5, normally push the motor further forward in the vehicles structure. This puts more weight over the vehicles front tires and the outcome is sub-par dealing with and torpid reaction. Kindly, don't misjudge. Audis aren't hesitant to perform, they simply don't offer the separating aficionado driver a similar profundity of building and deft elements tuning as BMWs.
Which is progressively dependable, Audi or BMW?
BMW additionally has the bit of leeway over Audi with regards to unwavering quality. Each BMW as of late got a better than expected anticipated dependability rating. Its most noteworthy appraised model was the well known 5 Series, yet the 2 Series, 4 Series, X1 and X4 additionally scored amazingly. Audi's scores are extensively lower and the brand completed with a general normal score. Of Audi's 12 models, just three have a better than expected anticipated dependability rating, the A5, A7 and A8, and four others were scored beneath normal.
Which is increasingly costly, Audi or BMW?
Audi and BMW contend no holds barred in numerous vehicle classes, however not all. BMW offers fundamentally a greater number of models than Audi, so it's not constantly a reasonable correlation with regards to cost, however for the most part, Audis are more moderate than their BMW rivals. To assist you with ascertaining which models are increasingly reasonable we've recorded each Audi and each BMW model alongside its base cost, excluding the unavoidable goal charge, which is as a rule about $1,000 on most models. Notice that BMW offers a more sweeping assortment of vehicles than Audi. Equivalent models normally offer comparable highlights and alternatives. Audi A3 $33,300 versus BMW 2 Series $37,300 Audi A4 $39,200 versus BMW 3 Series $40,250 Audi A5 Sportback $44,200 versus BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe $44,750 Audi A6 $58,900 versus BMW 5 Series $53,400 Audi A7 $68,000 versus BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo $70,300 Audi A8 $83,000 versus BMW 7 Series $86,450 Audi Q3 $34,700 versus BMW X1 $34,950 Audi Q5 $42,950 versus BMW X3 $41,000 Audi Q7 $53,550 versus BMW X5 $60,700 Audi Q8 $67,400 versus BMW X7 $73,900 Audi A5 Coupe $44,200 versus BMW 4 Series Coupe $44,950 Audi A5 Cabriolet $51,200 versus BMW 4 Series Convertible $53,100 Audi TT $44,900 versus BMW Z4 $49,700 Audi R8 $169,900 versus BMW i8 $163,300 These BMW models don't have an immediate contender from Audi. BMW X2 $36,400 BMW i3 $44,450 BMW 8 Series Coupe $111,900 BMW X4 $50,450 BMW X6 $63,550
Audi RS 7 Sportback execution on mountain street
It ought to likewise be noticed that both Audi and BMW each have numerous superior models that have been changed for extra power and taking care of. These models normally cost more than the more person on foot forms. BMW's elite M division is best known for the incredible M3 and M5 models, yet it has likewise made superior renditions of the BMW X3, X4, X6 and others. Audi offers a two-layered way to deal with its presentation contributions, with S and RS rendition of numerous models. The RS vehicles offer a considerable exhibition increment over the S adaptations. Customers keen on Audi superior should shop the RS3, RS5, and RS7.
Audi versus BMW: which has a superior notoriety?
With regards to execution, BMW's notoriety is better than Audi's. Truly, Audi's perform well, however BMW for all intents and purposes concocted the game car around 50 years prior. Also, its M3 and M5 models are worldwide execution legends. Indeed, even BMW's long running slogan, "The Ultimate Driving Machine", has developed the brand's enjoyable to-drive notoriety for quite a long time. Astoundingly, BMW has had the option to at the same time develop its Green notoriety. In the course of the most recent decade it has offered a lot more charged models than Audi, remembering plug-for cross breed variants of a portion of its cars and SUVs. Today, in 2019, it offers two module half breeds, the i3 and i8, just as an all-electric variant of the i3. BMW is likewise more slanted to try different things with colorful materials than Audi. The BMW i3 and its colorful module crossover sports vehicle, the i8, have carbon fiber structure, which is light, yet additionally over the top expensive. This innovation is normal in race autos. The structure of most generation vehicles is either steel or aluminum or a mix of each.
Red BMW i3 on european road
All things considered, Audi has offered more EV models than BMW, and its new all-electric e-Tron SUV will absolutely place a charge in its notoriety for building ecologically cognizant vehicles. Where Audi's notoriety sparkles is style and plan. Audi's are lovely. Most are so outwardly striking they turn developed men Pavlovian. They look energetic and dynamic, and they have for quite a while. There are likewise numerous wonderful BMWs, however most are simply appealing and some throughout the years have been out and out horrible. Audi keeps on driving the manner in which with regards to outside structure. It's one of the overwhelming reasons why its big name with more youthful extravagance purchasers keeps on proliferating. Which has lower support expenses, Audi or BMW? Examining the information uncovers that both BMWs and Audis are among the most costly c Read the full article

Volvo XC40 review – surprisingly capable compact SUV
For  Surprisingly nimble handling, neat design, comfort Against  Lifeless steering, bland engines The XC40 is actually a decent steer, chassis delivers good blend of agility and comfort, while petrol engines are punchy if characterless Like it or not, the SUV and crossover are a big part of the motoring landscape these days, so it’s no surprise Volvo is cashing in with its compact XC40. Slotting in beneath the vast XC90 seven-seater and BMW X3-rivalling XC60, the XC40 has cars such as the BMW X2, Audi Q3 and Mercedes GLA firmly in its sights. Intended as a more engaging and sporty addition to the line-up, the Volvo promises to be the sort of car that can slip into the everyday grind while adding a bit of spice when the situation demands. It’s an ambitious claim for a machine that effectively follows the template of a high-riding and heavyweight off-roader, but in reality the XC40 comes very close to nailing its brief – few crossovers are as accomplished on the road. There’s a wide range of petrol and diesel engines to choose from, including Volvo’s recently launched three-cylinder units. Pick of the bunch for performance is the T5, which is the most powerful version of the turbocharged 2-litre four-cylinder that also serves in the T4. The diesels are frugal and refined enough, but in a car of this size the appeal of petrol is harder to ignore. > Click here for our review of the Audi RS Q3 Of more interest is the chassis, which does a fine job of treading the line between agility and everyday comfort. The light steering is nothing to write home about and there’s noticeable roll, but it responds quickly and is more poised than you’d expect, plus it rides deftly when all you want to do is cruise. Then factor in the car’s handsome lines and an interior that’s a cut above the Germans for style and pretty much matches them for execution. It’s fairly roomy and practical, as well, helping make the XC40 a decent option for those forced down the SUV route. Image 2 of 15 Image 2 of 15 Volvo XC40: in detail Performance and 0-60mph time > The flagship T5 is the choice for performance, delivering decent urge and a sub-seven-second sprint to 60mph. Engine and gearbox > Volvo’s range of modular engines is fairly straightforward, with a choice of 2-litre petrol and diesels, plus a 1.5-litre petrol-only triple. Two or four-wheel drive is available with either six-speed manual or eight-speed auto. Ride and handling > given its SUV remit, the XC40 steers with surprising alacrity and poise, yet this agility doesn’t come at the expense of comfort. MPG and running costs > All the diesels will crack a claimed 50mpg, but you’ll need to do the miles to offset near-40mpg of the thirstiest petrol. Residuals are rock solid. Interior and tech > Volvo is on a roll here, with the XC40 getting a bright and slickly designed cabin that’s packed with kit. Design > As bluff-fronted off-roaders go, the compact and neatly proportioned XC40 is one of the most visually appealing. Image 3 of 15 Image 3 of 15 Price, specs and rivals Entry point to the XC40 is £27,610, which buys you the entry-level two-wheel-drive T3 Momentum model with a manual gearbox. At the other end of the scale is the £37,620 (deep breath) T5 AWD Automatic Inscription Pro. However, be aware that indiscriminate plundering of the options list can see the price of these flagship models swell to an eye-watering £50,000 in a matter of a few ticks. Yikes! Still, given the list of standard kit there shouldn’t be too much need to add extras as even basic Momentum models get all the kit you’re likely to need, including climate control, satnav, a nine-inch portrait-style infotainment screen, LED headlamps and more driver aids than you can shake a EuroNCAP five-star-rated stick at. R-Design models add some sporty styling cues, a ‘sports’ chassis, part-leather trim and configurable ambient lighting for the cabin among other things, while the Inscription brings full-leather trim and a whole host of extra convenience features, such as powered seats. All trim levels can be enhanced with the addition of the £1550 Pro pack that bundles together desirable extras such as heated seats and windscreen, adaptive LED lights, powerfold mirrors and powered seats. > Click here for more into on the all-new Q3 In terms of price, purpose and perceived prestige appeal the challengingly styled BMW X2 is arguably the Volvo’s closest rival. Prices start a little higher at £31,490, but there’s a similar choice of petrol and diesel engines, plus two or four-wheel-drive options. Strangely, a manual gearbox is only available with the entry-level 18d diesel variant, with all other versions getting a six-speed auto. The less said about the fact the two-wheel sDrive versions send their power to the front wheels the better. Another option is the Audi Q3, which is getting on a bit now and not far from replacement with the recently revealed all-new model, although that does mean there are likely deals to be done. Prices start at £27,915 and rise to £38.215. It’s been around for six years now, but the Q3 still feels relatively composed on the road, a firm ride the trade-off for reasonably precise handling. It’s inside that the car suffers, because while the interior is well built from quality materials it feels a generation or two behind recent Audi products in terms of technology and packaging. The engine line-up is limited to a pair of TFSI petrols (a 148bhp 1.4-litre and 177bhp 2-litre), plus a 2-litre TDI with either 148bhp or 181bhp. Sadly, the turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder RSQ3 was dropped from the range a while ago. Image 4 of 15 Image 4 of 15 Apart from the range-topping T5, the performance potential of the XC40 is best described as adequate. Slowest of the bunch is the 148bhp D3 AWD, which comes as standard with an auto gearbox and will need 10.4sec to go from standstill to 60mph. Sticking with front-wheel drive chops two-tenths off this time, while the six-speed manual will just dip under 10.0sec. Swiftest of the diesels is the D4, which is four-wheel drive and eight-speed auto only. The dash from 0-62mph takes a claimed 7.9sec, while the top speed is a heady 130mph. That said, all feel reasonably brisk on the road thanks to thumping mid-range torque (236lb ft for the D3 and 295lb ft for the D4) delivered at just 1750rpm. Of the petrols, the manual-only T3 is the tardiest performer, not surprising when you consider the 1.5-litre triple has just 156bhp to haul around the best part of 1500kg. That said, a 0-62mph in 9.4sec is lively enough, although some way short of the 8.5sec time set by the 187bhp T4, which is AWD and auto only. The same is true of the range-topping 244bhp T5 that manages to slice the 0-62mph dash to 6.5sec and tops out at 140mph. Image 6 of 15 Image 6 of 15 Volvo has ditched a complicated line-up of bespoke engines in favour of a BMW-style modular approach, spinning three and four-cylinder petrols and diesels off the same basic block. The entry-level three-cylinder is a pleasant enough unit, spinning sweetly and relishing hard work. It’s mated to a six-speed manual that’s precise enough, if a little notchy in operation. All the diesels are essentially the same 2-litre capacity with varying power and torque outputs. They’re reasonably refined, thanks in part to decent sound insulation, and pull strongly in the mid-ranges, making them a strong companion for the eight-speed auto, which shifts up early to make maximum use of the engine’s twist. So effective are these units at low to medium revs that there’s no real point in working them hard, not least because the four-cylinder becomes strained. Image 5 of 15 Image 5 of 15 In many respects, the torquey four-cylinder petrols behave much like the diesels, preferring to do their work in the mid-ranges rather than chasing the red line. The T4 is a respectable performer, while the T5 can set a pace that’s close to that of a warm hatch, even if its drones a bit and doesn’t really relish hard work. Perhaps the biggest disappointment is that with a T5 badge on the boot you expect the warbling, syncopated war cry made famous by that angular hotshoe the 850, but instead are treated to an anodyne, generic four-pot backbeat. Of the gearbox choices the smooth eight-speed auto is probably best suited to the XC40, shifting slickly in auto mode and responding promptly if a little jerkily when using the manual mode. While the engines just about pass muster, the rest of the XC40’s dynamic repertoire is rather more impressive. Volvo aimed to give its compact crossover a more engaging nature than most, albeit not at the expense of comfort and refinement. Overall, it’s job done, the XC40 keeping you entertained enough for what is essentially a family hack. The steering is quick and it’s connected to a front axle that bites harder than you expect, while the rear end is keen to get in on the action, delivering the lovely sensation of the car pivoting around your hips. It’s surprisingly agile for such a high-riding machine and you can cover ground at a surprising lick – some hot hatches will be humbled. Of course there’s some roll and big undulations result in a little float as the suspension struggles to contain the masses, but the optional £795 adaptive dampers do a decent job of keeping the body in check most of the time, and we’d recommend making this option one you should tick without hesitation. The rest of the time the XC40 is a relaxed and relaxing way to get about, the supple ride and strong refinement taking the sting out of daily duties. Factor in those hugely supportive seats and there are few cars more comfortable for the long-haul trips. Image 7 of 15 Image 7 of 15 If you’re looking purely at the numbers then the diesel versions look to be the most cost-effective to run. Regardless of power output or transmission they all claim to return in excess of 50mpg on the combined cycle, while low CO2 emissions make them a relatively attractive choice as a company car. And yet the emissions aren’t that much lower than the petrols, which even in T5 guise return nearly 40mpg (the manual T3 on the smallest 18-inch alloys promises to crack 45mpg). As a result, there’s not much incentive to go diesel, unless of course you crack the 20-odd thousand mile annual threshold where the extra cost of buying a diesel and its pricier fuel are offset by its greater efficiency. You certainly won’t make any savings on road fund licence, with all cars costing the same to tax regardless of engine. On the plus side, the XC40’s early popularity with buyers mean’ that residuals are strong and should remain so for the next few years. Servicing costs are also reasonable, with Volvo offering various pre-paid options and long-life intervals. Image 10 of 15 Image 10 of 15 This is the area where Volvo has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years – and the XC40 is the latest example of its design confidence. Taking a typically Swedish minimalist approach, the cabin of the Volvo is refreshingly clean and modern in its design, with plenty of light wood and leather finishes helping to give a bright and airy feel. This is backed up by the actual space available, with decent legroom for those in the back and a useful 460-litre boot, which places it somewhere between mainstream family hatches such as the Golf and more spacious models like the Skoda Superb. The dashboard is logically laid out and is dominated by the 9-inch tablet-style infotainment screen housed in the centre console. Featuring intuitive swipe and pinch functionality it controls all of the car’s major systems, from hi-fi and satnav to the numerous electronic safety aids. Speaking of which… As you’d expect from Volvo, the XC40 is crammed full of the latest cutting-edge kit, such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane keep assist. There’s also the run-off-road systems that sense you’re about to leave the road and prime the car by pulling the seatbelts tight and closing any windows and the sunroof. On top of this little lot is the Pilot assist (£1625 or £1500 depending on model), which can brake, accelerate and steer the car at speeds of up to 80mph – although you still have to keep your hands on the wheel at all times. Image 4 of 15 Image 4 of 15 Bluff-fronted SUVs are probably not your thing, but as far as these things go the Volvo is a fairly handsome effort. Short front and rear overhangs give it a purposeful stance, while a kick in the C-pillar adds some extra interest. Integrated silver roof rails and mock skid plates front and rear give off all the right ‘lifestyle’ messages, but in all honesty the furthest an XC40 will ever travel off-road is when the driver nudges it onto the pavement when parked up on the school run. Momentum models get 18-inch alloys as standard, while 19-, 20- and 21-inch rims can be added at extra cost. For the most aggressive look you need to opt for the R-Design model that gets a subtle bodykit and some interior enhancements, such as metal-finished pedals. Visual upgrades are limited to those larger wheels and a choice of contrasting roof colours – although the palette is limited to black or white, with the former looking a little gaudy. In fairness, the handsome and neatly detailed XC40 doesn’t really need these gimmicks, being better suited to darker colours that help disguise its bulk a little. The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 Remains Small, Ridiculously Powerful
America’s love affair with SUVs has sprouted ever more new models in every shape and size, and more than a few ultra-powerful performance models. Yet, the Venn Diagram of the SUV realm’s myriad size classes and its horsepower-crazed offerings isn’t exactly an eclipse—particularly left out? Small SUVs, which generally are tepid and weak. Not the all-new 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA 45, which builds on the original GLA 45’s micro-niche offering of insane power in a tiny, semi-tall package based on the more pedestrian GLA 250 also redesigned this year.
AMG previously squeezed logic-defying power from its smallest engine, the turbocharged 2.0-liter used in the first-generation GLA 45 and its swoopy sedan sibling, the CLA 45. Things get less logical this time around, with the new subcompact GLA 45’s four-banger pumping out a decidedly un-subcompact 382 horsepower (at 6,500 rpm) and 354 lb-ft of torque (between 4,750 and 5,000 rpm). Those figures are up 7 ponies and 4 lb-ft over the previous-generation GLA 45’s already insane outputs. Consider that now, the GLA 45’s four-cylinder output is snarling just behind the 405 ponies pumped out by the BMW M2 Competition coupe’s turbocharged six-cylinder.
To reach its lofty power output, the AMG’s hand-built 2.0-liter M139 engine features two-stage fuel injection, a redesigned intake system, and a new twin-scroll turbocharger for better throttle response. The result, AMG claims, is responsiveness similar to a naturally aspirated engine to go along with those big-time power figures that overwhelm anything else in the GLA’s size class. Among the next-most-powerful tiny luxury crossovers you can buy? The BMW X2 M35i, which offers “just” 302 horsepower from its turbocharged four-pot. Know what else makes 302 horsepower? The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35, the starter AMG that slots between the bonkers GLA 45 and the regular-grade, 221-hp GLA 250.
Mercedes further sets the GLA 45 apart from its lesser GLA 35 sibling by flipping the engine 180 degrees. Still transversely mounted, the engine simply faces the other direction than in the 35. The orientation situates the four-cylinder’s intake facing forward, toward the front of the car, while the exhaust and turbocharger components are located on the firewall side of the engine, a boon for cooling pathways, shorter-distance ducting, and “the flattest possible and most aerodynamically advantageous” front-end bodywork. OK, Mercedes.
Another 45-versus-35 differentiator? The former’s AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive, which can not only split engine torque between the front and rear axles, but also side-to-side between the rear wheels to maximize traction. (The 35’s simpler setup lacks the rear-axle torque vectoring function.) Between the 4Matic+ system and the mighty four-cylinder sits a new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission in place of the previous GLA 45’s seven-speed unit.
The AMG-fettled powertrain helps the GLA 45 scamper to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, according to Mercedes—a figure we think is likely conservative. After all, even before the original 355-hp GLA 45 received a 20-hp injection for 2016, one year after going on sale, it matched that 4.3-second acceleration time in our testing. Mercedes-AMG once again says the GLA 45 is capable of—and electronically governed to—155 mph. While the 35 matches the 45’s top speed, it supposedly takes an extra 0.7 second to reach 60 mph.
Among the GLA 45’s host of driver-selectable driving modes are Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, and Race. There also is one mode named “Master,” which AMG says is exclusive to 45’s optioned with the available AMG Dynamic Plus package and should be used only on racetracks because it allows extra oversteer beyond “Race.” We’ll have to wait until we drive the GLA 45 and experience it for ourselves, but AMG notes that every drive mode alters the GLA’s stability control, all-wheel-drive system, transmission behavior, suspension softness, exhaust sound, and throttle response.
Handling improvements are promised thanks to the new GLA’s stiffer body shell, which provides a more robust basis for the suspension to do its work, and a new variable-rate steering rack. Torque steer, an obvious concern for so powerful a front-drive-based vehicle as the GLA 45, is said to be mitigated by AMG’s tuning of the MacPherson struts up front and four-link rear suspension setup, as well as the new-for-2021 electronic adaptive dampers. The 45’s front brake rotors measure 13.8 inches and are squeezed by fixed four-piston fixed calipers, while the rears are 13.0 inches in diameter and grasped by single-piston floating calipers.
Taken together, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45’s advances for 2021 indicate that the most powerful small luxury crossover available extant remains so while surely being even more of a hoot to drive. Does the world need as many different types of SUVs as are available today? Who knows, but we won’t argue against more more powerful SUVs no matter their size. Speaking of size, while we know how (not) big the GLA 45 is, we don’t yet know how big its price tag will be. The old GLA 45 started at about fifty grand and only went up from there, and we don’t expect the new one’s bigger power to come with a smaller price tag when it arrives in the U.S. later this year.

O Volvo XC40 R-Design é tabelado a R$ 227.950. E o Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 Sport custa R$ 246.900.

O novo Evoque manteve o sistema Terrain Response.
