Black Lagoon Ch 72
The way she deconstructs Revy's worldview more than once. Revy's shocked face and instant defensiveness.
They're such a good contrast combo

Zenshuu episode 10
Someone call Justice, they seem to know a lot on cooking birds.
So even the random lines Natsuko draw last episode got copied huh?
Or more likely, they inspired the director just like she used Natsuko's drawings to customize her Voids in the last episodes.
Luke turning his sword to the inhabitants is a sign he's never trully took care of himself. He was raised to save everyone but no one has ever taught him to save himself. When you give everything to others and they don't repay it, of course you get furious at them. Dude puts too much pressure on himself.
The more I see of "A Tale of Perishing" and what the director does to make sure it still ends badly, the more I wonder if she didn't put all her despair in her movie.
The mangaka of Black Lagoon explained in an interview that he was in depression when he made Roberta's Blood Trail. When the last chapter of this arc came out, I remember people were kinda shoched by how dark it is even by Black Lagoon's standards.

Out of all the animes you’ve watch what ones are your favorites
...you know what, you get the serious answer. I used to track my anime watching, so out of the 450+ completed ones on my list, here are some of my top recommendations! (In terms of quality, more so than what I've spent the most time dwelling on.)
. . .
One Piece — I haven't technically watched all of this one, but after falling back into the fandom after an 8-ish year break, I really can't understate the quality. One Piece's story is amazing, and I'm consistently impressed by the author's characters/worldbuilding.
Dominion Tank Police (1988) — I have FEELINGS about the villain in this one... Overall, 80s sci-fi vibes mix with themes of ethical responsibility and societal peacekeeping, and the "don't you just want to go apeshit? :)" protagonist (who's also extremely aromantic-coded) is a hilarious, yet wonderfully earnest little menace!
Kyousougiga — I've been rewatching this one recently, and the sheer detail in every scene is STUNNING. I keep having to pause to mentally scream about the symbolism, and tbh, knowing the plot from my original watch is only improving the experience.
Tekkon Kinkreet — This one's a movie, not a series, but SKLJKHS IT HAUNTS ME. Absolutely chilling, by the time the big plot twists roll around... Beyond that, the overall aesthetic/vibe is impeccable, and the exaggerated, messy art style only adds to that.
Kemonozume — Monster/human forbidden romance with stunning art and a great soundtrack. The plot started out a bit confusing, but all of the scattered story elements came together nicely in the end!
The Tatami Galaxy — The "get your shit together and start enjoying your life" anime. It's plenty good as just a story, but I got some excellent life lessons out of it too. Solid mix of comedy, drama, and charismatic-yet-extremely-bizarre characters interacting.
Monster — Excellent slow-paced, psychological horror packed with ethical dilemmas, traumatic backstories, and so many Extremely Depressed Men. In other words, there's a very good reason why Johan Liebert used to end up on so many "best anime villains" lists.
Paranoia Agent — I have nothing but praise for Satoshi Kon's work, in general, and Paranoia Agent has been my favorite of the ones I've seen so far. Compared to his movies, it really benefits from the extra space for plot development, and the big emotional twist hits hard.
Revolutionary Girl Utena — A true classic. <3 There are enough tumblr essays about this tragic yuri masterpiece that I won't go into detail myself, but yes, it's every bit as good as you've heard.
Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail — The entire Black Lagoon series is excellent, but Roberta is my special girl. Unfortunately, the OAV adaption compresses the manga's version of her arc pretty heavily (and the altered ending is kind of dumb), but I still have to recommend it. Babygirl's breakdown is a REAL mess kjshghs
Claymore — Excellent pseudo-medieval fantasy with badass female characters, lots of body horror, and top-tier monster design. The manga is MUCH better than the anime after a certain point, however.
Kuuchuu Buranko — An episodic series about an eccentric psychiatrist interacting with his troubled patients. The mixed-media animation style and bizarre characters are what sold it for me, along with the exploration of mental health through storytelling tropes.
Cannon Fodder — An artistic short movie that's twenty minutes of aesthetic experience and fascinating worldbuilding implications. I love the vibe, and the "one, long horizontal frame" style is neat.
Flowers of Evil — The art style. The VIBES. The whole thing is incredibly eerie and off-putting, with a plot that's pretty much: "congrats! two shitty teenagers are tearing each other's lives apart!".

Watching Black Lagoon for the first time
Revy, certified two-gun-wielding badass pirate: Roberta's a maid. What's she gonna do, throw a teacup at me?
Me *seeing that the finale episodes are called 'Roberta's Blood Trail'*: Hmm.

Yves also reminds me of balalaika from black lagoon. I could imagine that some of his body scars and previous face scars would look a lot like hers. Also the vague mafia vibe that Yves has sometimes reminds me of her too. (The video “Balalaika’s revenge” on YouTube captures this perfectly). The way they have that very lithe feminine flirtatious vibe but also the way they can become so cold and ruthless also makes me see parallels too.
Roberta from the same show also reminds me of him in some ways due to the extreme before and after in terms of their lives. Now sweet person utterly dedicated to their loved one but also carries a horrendous past that they wish to keep from their loved one. Like UGH could you imagine Yves darling somehow, by literally divine unluckiness, despite all that he has done, somehow gets sucked into the more dangerous aspects of his life/work through a series of unfortunate events? I can see him going through a similar kind of turmoil Roberta went during Roberta’s blood trail. I mean like the anger, the rage, how apologetic he’d be towards the reader, the tears, all that trauma finally boiling up to the surface that once more. It would be really bad DAMN!!
Holy fuckin shit anon yeag omg i watched balalaika's revenge and MY GOD does she have that essence, like DAMN i was like looking thru her wiki n shit
Roberta too, but like yves just isn't like full of trauma about to explode, he managed to convert it into something else that powers him and he controls it all
Thamz u 4 ur thots tho , i appreciate it anon ❤️

Number 14 of my Junimation countdown: Black Lagoon
Tumblr media
A modern pirates life for these criminals, low-lives and people scraping the barrel in this manga turned anime by Rei Hiroe. The original series with 24 episodes spread over 2 seasons ran from the 9th April 2006 until the 19th December 2006. Add 5 extra if you're counting Roberta's Blood Trail which started the 17th July 2010 and ended 22nd June 2011.
The story starts with businessman Rokuro Okajima (Rock) who gets abducted by modern day pirates calling themselves the Lagoon Company, but decides to join them after seeing how much of a scumbag his employer is. He now stays in the city of Roanapur where crime isn't uncommon and crime syndicates are in control. He slowly adjusts to this new lifestyle with the help of gunslinger "Two Hands" Revy, captain of the Lagoon Company Dutch and tech genius Benny as he finds his place in the company. But with the many criminal clients this Company does business with, this means they're regularly fighting to survive and earn their paycheck.
Though a lot is told from Rock's perspective, the most notable character with the most (visual amazing) action is Revy. As we slowly learn how she became who she's now while she mercilessly takes down/kills any opponent and regularly disagrees with Rock.
This is a series to bury the argument that animation is "for kids" with sometimes disturbing storytelling, good world building and graphic injuries/kills. This is no series for the faint of heart, but a fantastic one if you gave it a shot.

@krowsselfindulgy How bad is Black lagoon? Since you compared it to RWBY I feel concerned for the formers quality.
Okay just before I begin. Black Lagoon is in no way means of bad. I was just saying that it was better than RWBY. Since on twitter someone was making some idiotic comparisons on how RWBY was better than [anime name]. But I'll happily tell you that this IS WHAT A GOOD MEAL IS LIKE IN A SHOWWW!!!
But before I go ahead. WARNING: There will be spoilers for the First Two Seasons of Black Lagoon . (I'll cover the Roberta's Blood Trail Arc another time) Also Further warning! The following triggers will contain blood, gore, violence and I mean lots of violence. N*zi's, R*pe, G*re, and some racism, including Police Brutality (Also this was done during 2006 like this was a time when things were unhinged!) ___________________
Now I think we're gonna go through a few of the characters, some favorite moments of mine from the series. Then we'll just leave everything for a second part? Perhaps? Because seriously theres a lot of memorable characters and moments from this show and its no wonder why everyone is hoping for a Season 3 one day! Okay where do we start? Well why not with the fact that any RWBY stan is gonna complain and say there are no "strong women" in Black Lagoon. Yeah you know what thats kind of true y'know I should agree with them. . . .
FUCKING DEAD FUCKING WRONG.
Lets start with someone from our main cast of characters shall we?
Tumblr media
Enter Rebecca "Revy" Lee, an Chinese American born woman who lived in an impoverished part of New York City where he would have to suffer both Physical and Sexual abuse from both her father and THE POLICE. Which leads her to have a very nihilistic viewpoint of the world and its religion as she states herself (Mostly from the Manga) that: "God didn't do shit" for her because of all the abuse she had to suffer. Not to mention at one point when she was arrested SHE WAS LITERALLY- Um.. hold up a minute. Ahaha! Redo of Healer'd!
Oh and by the way she was also killing and getting in fights with the police all at A YOUNG AGE. Oh my god she was literally putting on Black Timberlands instead of Black Air Forces..... this was until she met Dutch who she would join him as the brawn to the ELCO PT Boat, the Black Lagoon.
However her greatest flaw is her "Whitman Fever" which can lead to her violently killing anyone who gets in her way (with a few exceptions). However, its also most possible that the reason why she shoots and kills is a way to cope with her trauma...... as anyone who treats her with genuine kindness instead of attempting to betray her and somehow... this person was none other than our Rock that we'll be talking about another time. but for now... lets show some memorable moments.
Such as.. her terrifying Speech towards our Other Main Protagonist Rock (Which we will :
youtube
Or WHEN SHE AND DUTCH GOT ON A BOAT THAT WAS HIJACKED BY NEO-N*ZI'S AND SLAUGHTERED THEM ALL.. LIKE DEAR GOD LOOK AT THIS
youtube
Then there comes our second character and dear God she is.... fucking legendary... THE FORMER SOVIET VETERAN OF WAR HERSELF.
Tumblr media
ENTER SOFIYA PAVLOVNA AKA BALALAIKA My god this woman is the definition of "I am the Shit and I dont sit around and fuck around" unlike Salem and her dumbass sitting on a Grimm throne for the past like what oh wait.. one (Volume 4), two (Volume 5), three (Volume 6), Four (Volume 7), and FIVE (Volume 8) Goddamn times! Like holy fuckin shit Salem is one of them lazy villains. but for Balalaika, she is the true meaning of Fuck around and FIND OUT.
She was a former Soviet War Veteran who participated in the Soviet-Afghan War before being disavowed and thus, she would join Hotel Moscow and regain her soldiers who were all also former soviet paratroopers. When i say she will get shit done I MEAN SHE WILL GET IT DONE BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.
Such as when someone was blabbing about when they were going to assassinate the entire Lagoon Company (Which who Revy is part of) and she pulls up on him and gives off the MOST HELLA DARKEST GLARES EVER.
Tumblr media
YOU CANNOT TELL ME SHE'S LIKE THIS IS TERRIFYING TO LOOK AT CAUSE MY GOD SHE IS THE SHIT. SALEM EAT YOUR FUCKIN' HEART OUT!
Lets not forget when Roberta the Maid (I may have to talk about that another time....) pulled up, Balalaika did her research and found out who she was and cornered her with her Vysotniki (Basically her personal army of Red Army, VDV, and Spetznaz soldiers) and still...she commands the respect of all of them. ....
Theres also the fact that she went to "war" with many gangs but when Hotel Moscows Japan branch was having trouble. She pulled up and had the Yakuza running for their life. The only thing that would be capable of saving them would be Kazama Ki- Oh yeah thats right he was still in Prison and didn't get out until 2005. Still she blitzkrieged the Yakuza quickly and made them beg for mercy!!! But no joke. Balalaika has the respect of her men has the skills of a leader, even to the point where she would happily do a favor for a dear friend. Because at one point Dutch did rescue her and she returned the favor three times.
It was no joke that Revy said that Balalaika gets off on war.... cause boy howdy she was right...but that doesnt mean shes all but a war maniac. Somewhere deep inside she has a soft spot for her men she served with as she would go as far as to avenge them by any means necessary.
Like during the Vampire Twins Arc... and I kid you not as I say this.....
BALALAIKA HAD TO SIFT THROUGH 250 SNUFF FILMS IN ORDER TO FIND THE TWO TWINS THAT KILLED HER MEN....
There was going to be no way that I would be able to get through even be able to get through the first five minutes of just ONE. Like I said before... Balalaika. DOES NOT FUCK AROUND.
youtube
Such as when Balalaika gets her vengeance on one of the killers
youtube
Or her meeting with the Kosa clan when she makes fun of the guards FLIMSY GUN AND SHOOTS THEM BOTH WITH IT!!
Okay so enough of that cause it is 7:30 PM over here... and I think I may have to save this for a part two um... so have a REALLY Funny moment from Black Lagoon that gets me rolling.

Just made up a Black Lagoon OC heavily inspired by Jiren from DBS. Currently drawing him, but his name is Rejin Greyblood, nicknamed by most crime organizations as the "Monochrome Menace". He's given that nickname by the way because of him being the scariest mercenary and vanguard anyone can come across, he's also nomadic, meaning he can work with anyone however he pleases.
Though he wasn't intentionally going for the crime scenery, instead, before he became what he currently is, all he wanted to be a rockstar and form a band called the "Troops of Pride" or something like that, but ended up becoming a skilled merc-vanguard after coming into the crosshairs of Roberta's Blood Trail.
Though he didn't become a rockstar, he does have a taste in rock music, especially ones like Bon Jovi and the like. He often quotes the song "It's My Life" whenever he has a conversation with Revy or Rock.
Speaking of Rock, Rejin has a liking towards him, to the point where it's unknown if it's romantic or platonic. Though, by obvious standards, it's both.
FUN FACTS ABOUT REJIN GREYBLOOD!
Fun Fact #1: Though he has "Greyblood" as his name, he is born Japanese-raised-American. Hence his liking towards Rock, who is Japanese.
Fun Fact #2: Though not a parental figure or married to some degree (simply put, he's single and unmarried), he does treat most of the other mercenaries as if they're his own kids (for example, Hansel and Gretel), so he's not only skilled in murder but he's also skilled in parenting.
Fun Fact #3: Though identifying as a male, both mentally and biologically, he does like to crossdress at times. Though, he only does it when he feels pretty.
Fun Fact #4: Rejin has the same meaning as Jiren's name, it's just the Japanese word for "stove", just with a few letters rearranged to make a new name. This also makes up a new meaning with that new arrangement, meaning "King", "Precious", or "Extraordinary", which kind of fits, given Rejin's character as being extraordinary to the others.
Fun Fact #5: He knows of Roberta and her Blood Trail, as he was the one to witness all the blood that she spreads (well that's a weird way to say it), but also because of them later gaining mutual respect the more they meet each other during battle. (Which that whole thing is of course a reference to my poll, pitting Jiren against Roberta on Tumblr.)
Fun Fact #6: He takes insults as compliments, especially when he has conversations with Revy. (At one point, Revy called Rejin a "f*ggot" when regarding Rejin's platonic-romantic relationship with Rock, and he took it as a fact, stating "That's what he is". I mean, to be fair, Revy calling him that might be accurate so yeah.)
Fun Fact #7: His birthday is October 9th, 1960, making him (according to my sources) 35 years old, considering Black Lagoon is set in the mid-1990s, though if we put it in today's date; he'd be 63 years old by now. (Although Jiren's age is relatively unknown, I just decided to give Rejin my birthday, October 9th, because I can. Besides, I've done it before so what's stopping me from doing it again? Plus, his birthday is on a Sunday, which for most religious people is going-to-Church day, which is ironic considering Rejin is like a quarter away from being gay for Rock, if it's not obvious from the very start, and him not a religious person. So yeah.)
Fun Fact #8: Though he has a somewhat skinny physique, he's relatively muscular, with all the weight of firearms that he has been blasting and carrying throughout most of his time as a menace.
Fun Fact #9: His hair is naturally grey, despite him being 35, which for Japanese people only happens in their late 30s.
Fun Fact #10: He is quite an insomniac, due to him having to take missions during the night time and him not having a proper sleep schedule. Making him paler, sickly, and almost zombie-like to say the least. Which sort of describes the Grey Alien concept a bit more.
Fun Fact #11: Though he is not religious, Eda mentions how his outfit resembles church clothes most people wear when they go to worship God. He states to Eda that "he'll only consider worshipping a god when the world is on the brink of extinction". (Simply put, Rejin is an atheist)
Fun Fact #12: He's not a natural smiler, only able to smirk and grin at things he knows are intentional. He only genuinely smiles when Rock is in the room or when he is near Rock.
= = = = = =
"It's my life, it's now or never, I ain't gonna live forever, I just wanna live when I'm alive."
Day 6: Human Form (Black Lagoon)
My OC Rejin Greyblood, AKA Jiren if he's from the Black Lagoon Universe instead of the Dragon Ball Universe.

me personally i would love something like black lagoon roberta's blood trail in which a cute girl lets loose and just goes on a rampage murdering dozens of people in cruel and bloody and flamboyant ways for no particular reason. but they don't make stuff like that anymore. now it's all i can't believe my younger sister's frilly panties have a stank in which the titular younger sister goes kyaaa you perv while blushing demurely and her eyes take 5/6th of the screen

[Black Lagoon Anon]
So I'll definitely have to tag you in any Black Lagoon posts I post.. Especially the rare posts. Because this whole fandom is already small as it is right now. But I have been hoping that the more people talk about it, the more people would be just curious enough to want to find out about the franchise in general too.
And I keep saying franchinse because I don't know.. Wait. Did you know that Sawyer and Eda really have own spinoff mangas. Because you'll also get a lot of backstories for Eda, Sawyer, Shenhua and Lotton.
But about the original manga. I don't know how you might feel about Li's character, you may like her. So she is the new female character in the next arc after Roberta's Blood Trail. I won't say more though.
And I could definitely see you liking Le Majeur.. She is the newest female character who was introduced in Dutch's backstory chapters. And that's all I'll say.
You will also learn more about Revy's time in prison, more about her backstory. Many more backstories.
I'm keeping details vague so not to spoil you more.
I sent a Japanese clip for Gangsta. too, if you might be curious about the anime in Japanese. Since that was already mentioned you prefer Japanese. Which is fine. I don't think any characters have accents for this series that I know of. But it's so rare to find any videos for this series, regardless of language, so I've just sent any videos I can find. So another video.
Like I said.. A woman created this series, franchise - since there's a spinoff for one of the characters too.
This series is like Black Lagoon, but reversed in lots of ways. There are strong characters, including a lot of female characters. Some queer characters. But a lot of disabled characters too. There is also many of these characters who're of different ethnicities too.
The dark skinned woman you'd see, Alex, she is one of the mixed characters. Is part black, part Chinese, and part something else too. She's a mixed woman.
Doug is the young man with the dreadlocks, he is a half black man. He's black and white descent.
Galahad is obviously black.
Nicolas, who is the deaf man you've already seen, is actually half Asian from his mother's side.
Worrick is most likely European, at least of more of a European descent. Based on his appearance.
There are many other characters, but those were an example for you. And you already met Nicolas who's a canonically deaf character. His sign language that he speaks is the Japanese sign language if you may be curious. As someone who is considered disabled (by technicalities), I do enjoy seeing characters who are disabled. Especially the accurately portrayed.
And, just like Black Lagoon, graphic content will be happening. Especially in the manga. Including a lot of offensive languages. Just to warn you about that ahead of time. Oh! Another warning.. In the anime. I can't remember if it's the first or second episode, I'd have to let you know there is actually a sex scene.
And if it wasn't already obvious yet, the boys, Nicolas and Worrick are the main characters of this story. And Alex to some extent too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcmNVDWBkiU
oooh a spinoff for eda and sawyer sounds goood! sawyer is really cool and i really loved her scenes and her character is really interesting! i also love her character design! and i loooove eda so much !! so i'm definitely gonna check those out! and shenhua too omg ever since her introduction i loved her! and lotton too lmaaoo he's really funny and interesting so i'd love to learn more about him too! im excited to meet the new characters too! black lagoon has lots of fun and interesting characters so i can't wait to see more of them later on!
from the clips you've shared i can already see how diverse the gangsta characters are, which is super cool! it's rare to see characters with disability in anime, and especially in one of that genre, so that's really rad! nicolas seems so cool, i'm excited to see more of him when i get into the anime!
and thanks for the heads up about the graphic content! i'm definitely gonna watch the anime in sub, especially since i just saw that worrick is voiced by junichi suwabe who's one of my fav jp voice actors! lol
i'm really excited to watch gangsta and then read it later on! i have a feeling i'll enjoy it a lot. thank you so much for telling me about it!

I'll try making one post at a time instead of multiple posts now. I did that because I thought sending the second messages about the character trivia may be easier for me. But, either way, my messages are too longer for people to keep up with all the time.. From what a lot of people have mentioned me before.
So.. The closest I could see as a happy ending for a series like Black Lagoon would be more of content ending. Like where everyone is alive, with their own found family, content with how their lives are now. But that also depends on what path the creator will take for the story, the characters, everything for the events leading to the end. Because I could see a lot of different outcomes happening right now.
And it seems you have similar views to me about the story and the characters. So that's good for me.
If there is some possibility of an outcome where Rock does take over Roanapur as the only leader in control.. How would that happen. He's intelligent in a lot of ways, he's also persuasive and manipulative - depending on the situation. But the only people in these situation who are the Lagoon Company, and I will say that Revy is the only one out of the group who's willing to risk her life for Rock compared to Dutch and Benny when it involves more dangerous situations (like in the Roberta's Blood Trail arc). Not that they wouldn't help Rock. But, in extreme types of situations, it's usually Revy saving Rock than any other person. So Revy would be Rock's right hand man, well, woman if Rock did decide to take control of Roanapur. But not really anyone else. Unless he's able to convince people to make that happen. But I still can't see that happening either. I don't know.
Children and teenagers have crushes on people who are then them. But it's a completely different situation to act that way, in that situation, in front of everyone to witness too. And I have already said this a lot of times now.. I hope nothing else like that happens in whichever relationship they have. I don't know if Roberta, Garcia or Fabiola will come back in to the story anymore. But if they do, hopefully none of that will happen between them. No more of that.
I never care about relationships. If you and your partner are consenting adults, then everything is between you and whoever you decide to be with. But I cross the line when much younger people (or characters) are involved in relationships. I'm completely against pedophilia and beastiality in every way. That is definitely where I draw the line. Between their ages and power dynamics.. Just no.
Yes. I'm overly critical about details, I'm considered a perfectionist over details other people do not care about. Which is fair. And depending on the series, it might be so difficult for certain things to translation in live adaptions that I feel like they shouldn't waste their time and money on any live adaption. But that is just my opinion. If people do enjoy live adaptions, then they can enjoy the series. I'm never one to ever harass people over their preferences. That's just me though. I'm rarely ever into live adaption versions.
If I do decide to post about any ideas fancasts, then I'll just post one at a time. And only post the people and characters that I've already figured out, since it would be even easier to do. And for the characters I have complications with.. I will only post them if or when I have them figured out. Because I don't want to force myself over an interesting idea that should be considered fun, not stressful. In my opinion. So I might do that soon. But, if it possibly helps you feel better, I imagine the same woman as Balalaika and Olivier Mira Armstrong. Since they're similar characters.
Dutch is a character who has a more calming personality about him than other characters in this series. Maybe his personality makes him seem a lot younger? His personality is old and young at the same time. So I can see why figuring out his age is a bit difficult for people to guesstimate. Maybe that is a detail we'll figure out during his backstory then.
I imagine Garcia's age between 12-14, Fabiola age is between 15-17. Until their ages are mention to fans.
The creator has done artwork of characters celebrating. But the artwork is for celebratory reasons, not really for birthday reasons.
Some other minor trivia about characters again.
Revy's real name is Rebecca Lee.
Obviously this detail was altered in the anime for copyright reasons. But, in the manga, Revy's music preference are of the rock and metal genres. Which you might know that now after reading the manga.
Revy dropped out of school at a young age.
Balalaika's real name is Sofia Pavlovna Irinoskaya or Sofia Irinoskaya Pavlovna, since there are fans who disagree on the order of her name. Because of her name being of Russian origin.
Frederica Sawyer was inspirated by Leatherface of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. So that is why her surname is Sawyer, and her weapon is also a chainsaw. There's even speculation about why her character is mute, but that's not confirmed either.
Eda's real name is Edith Blackwater.
Eda was a cheerleader in high school.
In Yolanda's younger age, she appeared to look like Marilyn Monroe. You saw her appearance in the one ova season.
I know conversing with people over a screen is very different than face to face. But as a disabled person though, autism is one of my conditions, I've had my fair share of people tell me I'm a cunt just because I have an abrasive way of speaking. It doesn't bother me. But apparently they say I have this rude way of communicating. So that could be a warning for you.
I might have another series recommendation for you. Gangsta. is another series that has a similar concept to Black Lagoon, these criminals from a diverse background. The story and characters are also graphic as a fair warning, like Black Lagoon is. A lot of strong male and female characters.
I'm not saying you have to get into this series now. Or at all if you don't want. The creator of the series is a woman. And, because of how severe her health is, she only works on the series whenever she can. So the series tends to go on hiatus for extensive periods of time. But the series is also underrated like Black Lagoon so a part of me wanted to kind of recommend this series too.
There is only eight novels right now. And the company who created the anime went bankrupt after the first since so I doubt the anime would ever continue. Fans are hopefully for more anime, but all of us are doubtful about it. And hopefully the manga also continues.
So getting into this series is completely up to you. But I still wanted to recommend the series anyway.

do whatever makes it easier for you, either way i wouldn't mind and i love reading all of your messages <3 i agree with your take on that kind of happy ending for black lagoon. i definitely would prefer it over an angsty or bittersweet one because i just love happy endings in general. i think roberta so far is the only one to have a "happy" ending despite everything she went through, because she seems content with where her future is taking her, whereas the other characters are still going along their own path. it will most likely take a long while though before we reach any conclusion
yes! revy has shown time and time again that she is willing to be rock's gun and protect him. though i'm not sure to what extent she'll keep protecting him, since revy wants rock to stay as her light, and him becoming a leader of roanapur will probably send him to the dark instead. i don't see dutch and benny being willing to go as far as revy would. they're all friends, but dutch and benny would probably put their own well-being first over rock's in the end. especially if they can't benefit from his choices. he might be able to recruit a few more loyal guards to protect him, but i still can't see him going against hotel moscow or the hong kong triad
ohh i'm definitely interested in your fancasts, but take it at your own pace whenever you want to! i want it to be fun and not stressful <3 i can definitely see balalaika and olivier being played by the same woman. they're both gorgeous and so strong
i love reading those minor trivia. were they all from the novels? especially with facts like balalaika's real name, since i don't recall them saying it in the manga or anime. i knew young yolanda looked a little familiar! i didn't even realize it could've been inspired by marilyn monroe
i've heard a little bit about gangsta before. i'll put it onto my list to start on someday. right now i'm prioritizing black clover so i'll see when i'll be able to finish that. i'm really enjoying it so far, and the black bulls are such a fun group of cast. thank you for the recommendation!!

Oh hey, turns out there was one more Black Lagoon thing for me to check out! Roberta’s Blood Trail is a five-episode OVA sequel all about the titular murder maid going on a rampage of revenge, and it’s... eh. I feel like the more Black Lagoon tries to be genuinely dark and serious, the stupider and shallower it comes off. Or maybe I’m just tired of handwringing stories where the point is that it’s Not Very Nice to hurt the people who hurt you first and you should just give Peace and Love a chance. You’re an ultraviolent grindhouse exploitation flick, Black Lagoon, just embrace that and stop trying to be smarter than you’re capable of. 4.5/10, and now it’s actually time to move on to Michiko and Hatchin. See you then!

This is a PSA to anyone who is unaware: Black Lagoon is, in fact, an ongoing series.
Not a lot has actually happened since Roberta's Blood Trail in the Manga... but that's because a side manga starring Cutter was written as well.
