I have a sudden, unsolicited opinion on the moment where Ochako admits that she fell in love with Izuku. Since it has been going around as one of those context-less, surface level articles on Google(I spotted it too)

So it's talking about the moment when Ochako is fighting Toga and she tells her that she fell in love with Izuku.

Does she use the exact wording? Yes.

Does that mean it's an end all declaration? Does it mean she is endgame with Izuku? I do not think so.

I don't think it's the final nail in the coffin to the argument for any other ship involving Izuku or Ochako. Here's why:

The admission is so anticlimactic.

We have known for a while that Ochako has complicated feelings about Izuku. We know that it has been a bit of a crush. And that has led to ANTICIPATION to see what becomes of those feelings.

But along the anticipation, we have also seen her going through some feelings of discomfort about the whole thing...unusual, for a supposed love interest of a Shonen manga!

So the audience has been waiting for a LONG time for something, anything, to happen between Ochako and Izuku that rewards that anticipation and that waffling on Ochakos part.

And for something like a supposed love confession, a line like "I fell in love with Izuku Midoriya", to heppen....

But NOT in a moment between Ochako and Izuku themselves, just also does not reward the anticipation that was built up.

She did not confirm and admit these feelings TO izuku. She admitted them to Himiko.

And that is the first time the audience hears her positively confirm that she had those feelings, blatantly.

But it TAKES AWAY from the actual relationship because Himiko received that confession...not Izuku.

We didn't get a charged confession between Ochako and Izuku. The relationship was STILL not mutually developed. It's still just a quality of Ochako, it says nothing about Izuku. The anticipation of Ochako having a crush, and changing, complicated feelings for Izuku and where that would eventually climax, where it would reach its peak for Ochako and Izuku both, instead is diverted. Kind of literally. Because it didn't happen at either chance they had to talk it out, to confess, she sent Izuku away when Himiko tried to trap him into a love discussion. She didnt bring it up before the war began even though they had such a calm moment to be able to do so. It didn't come out in the logical places. And now in the endgame, they have split up to fight different battles...Ochako has even exhausted everything she has right now to save Himiko and likely is out until we receive the wrap up.

So, the anticipation I mentioned, again, does not have a payout in the form of even a rushed battlefield confession because the two of them are fighting different battles.

Instead the audience is given the confirmation of "I fell in love with him" when he is not even present, when Ochako is not confessing to him or confronting him. It comes out with Toga, when she Is trying to reach out and level with her, it almost could read as a "I had a crush on the same boy" kind of statement. It comes out when saving Himiko is Ochakos main priority.

What I'm saying here is that Ochakos love confession for Izuku, which is usually a big deal in any story, is in the back seat to prioritize each of their other relationships and goals. Which is great that it is not forced upon us when there are bigger things happening, however it just does a disservice to the pairing itself when most of the feelings are expressed onesidedly, and an actual statement of love, if it's not even outdated because of changed feelings, means a lot less when it's not filling the gap between the two people in question. When the confession doesn't reach the other person.

(And I will go ahead and say that is kind of similar to how bkdk is right now as well, bc we have SO MUCH material on Katsukis side, about how he feels and how much he cares about Izuku, but not a lot on what Izuku feels or allows himself to feel about Katsuki. I will call that out as well.)

Like at this point, the best we could hope for, for Ochako and Izuku being a couple, is a very open note about it in the aftermath. Like maybe Ochako asks Izuku if he would like to get crepes with her. That's just enough given context clues to suggest to the audience that yes there are still some feelings there, she heard what he said about crepes and holding hands and took note of it, but also that Izuku himself is willing to explore those feelings as well. It would be Ochako finally choosing her feelings for Izuku, but without it being too sudden for Izuku to accept. This whole time we are not shown Izuku crushing on her at all it would be strange to have him suddenly initiate.

But anything more romantic and profound than that? Any dramatic reveal/confession of feelings, any chance for them to have a moment in the midst of war to have the "i love you" discussion? That has been bypassed time and time again. Horikoshi COULD HAVE WORKED IT IN, IF IT WERE A PRIORITY TO HAVE THEM ENDGAME. While no, romance doesn't have to be a priority in a Shonen, and Ochako has flipped the script on how she handles her feelings as a shonen love interest, Hori has demonstrated that threads and concepts of romance ARE part of his narrative.

And right now? Hot take, but the most romantic thread that Izuku, his main character, finds himself in, is whatever the hell is going on between him and Katsuki Bakugou.

You'd just think if the mc was going to be with a romantic partner, a girl, by the end of the story, something would have happened.

I feel like I'm going in circles past my point, but it boils down to Izuku not having any indication of interest in Ochako besides friendliness....the fact that the audience received confirmation of Ochako loving Izuku from her telling a 3rd party and NOT her subject, and the anticipation of that confession, built up for YEARS of this manga and animes run, of supposed feelings not really being paid off, if the two are meant to be the romantic end game. It also boils down to the fact that the anticipation of the confession had a CHANCE to occur with Izuku, the subject, multiple times. It boils down to again, ochako and Izukus relationship being romantic in anyway being little more than an after thought.

AND! it doesn't even guarantee that her feelings of love for him are still the same! We don't know for sure if she STILL loves Izuku!

So yeah. I hope this made sense, but it sure feels anticlimactic to have a love confession(supposedly) not even occur while the subject is present, where the audience can view it and celebrate that long awaited conclusion.

As always, these articles that pop up on Google leave a lot of context out, and are very face value. They saw Ochako say the L word and called it endgame. There is a reason I don't read them.

There was a bkdk poll asking us how we thought bkdk's relationship would end. I typed a paragraph response, but tumblr won't let me reblog my response or that post in general, so I will make a separate post lol.

But to answer @ammy246's question, I would've answered the other option.

While I still feel like the ending is still anyone's game, I do believe that it's unlikely that hori will end it like naruto. It seems like an izch ending is unlikely due to how the ship has been treated for the few years. Yeah, hori may pull something like that, but I honestly believe he's not going to do it. It's been too long since izch has even gotten a moment and hori knows that. This is the same author that recommends romance manga and apparently is a fan of unrequited love. This is also the same author that drew that 2021 art of the two falling in the sky and said it's what could've happened IF he had decided to developed the two more (he apparently said to pay attention to what was happening in the drawing; falling = bad omen; also reference to spirited away where the two characters separated).

We are at the point where a bkdk implied ending is not far-fetched. It's not something that can only exist in fanon anymore. Bkdk's relationship has seriously developed to the point where dudebros and non-MHA fans who are caught up (whether anime or manga) can't deny that the relationship is close. Not to mention how the ship has been promoted for the last couple of weeks (Bakugou's JP VA promoting a BL that has BKDK undertones, the little promo panel of midoriya and bakugou talking about opening an agency together, how CD dramas and those games have been recently, the 2024 Spring GIGA cover, Shonen jump's tiktok promoting the GIGA cover, Hori telling Bones the ending and now suddenly Bones now cares about BKDK and is adding more scenes about them compared to how they were with izch). It really does feel like these people are doing a soft launch of the ship.

However, because I feel like (IMO), that I haven't seen enough in the manga, I still feel like we're going to get an open ending. No ships. But I do believe that we will get a hand hold soon in the manga, as well as a deep conversation that will bring katsuki and izuku even closer than before. The question is, will hori go even further and make it romantic. Atm, I don't think we will get a kiss or a love confession, but I do believe that we are at the point where we may be lucky and get a crepe date at the end. I also do believe that we may get the ending where the two open an agency together.

do y think at the end OFA'll disappear with AFO and Deku'll become a quirkless hero? (Maybe it could slowly fade, like All Might.) I hope that OFA disappears 'cause by the end of the manga the status quo of hero society MUST CHANGE and I believe that with All Might fighting AFO without quirk but with support items's the PERFECT setting to graft this change: ex n.1 hero who for years supported the strength of quirks, now becomes the symbol of the heroism that's born despite one's weaknesses.

You've pretty much got the answer yourself!

My thoughts are two options here: OFA disappears from Izuku, leaving him with just the stockpiling quirk that AFO gave Yoichi. It's an okay end, but it doesn't really slice through to the heart of the series like Izuku finishing the way he started does.

The difference being that Katsuki now loves him, and considers him his hero: quirk or no quirk. And this way Izuku, the symbol of the weak and different, is shown fully embraced by the symbol of quirk society: Katsuki.

I read that when mangaka hand in their first three names (like a draft) of their manga for consideration in being serialised, they also include the last page they would like the manga to end on... Hori knew how he wanted to end the manga, before it even started. And I’d like to think I know Hori's writing well enough to say he's the kind of writer who would bookend his story’s beginning and end with perfect contrast of each other. ESPECIALLY because BNHA started very bleak, and uplifting themes of dreams and hope and love are at the very core of this series.

So what do we see at the very beginning of BNHA? Katsuki bashing up Izuku when they were kids and Izuku noting the disparity between an individual’s value, of lives not being equal and the unfairness of it all that he was taught very early on because he was born lacking.

The way this will be inverted at the end will be with Katsuki and Izuku together - Izuku probably won’t have his quirk anymore - and we will get some kind of opposite to Katsuki’s “hate” and rejection of Izuku and his hurting him: Love. Acceptance. Warmth. Think chapter 322’s embrace, but even better. 💕

(And yes I think Hori will drive home the theme of their perfect teamwork together before the end. Probably in the final battle and then might have Izuku be a quirkless hero working together with Katsuki with the help of support items.)

Now that Izuku has dropped his ideal date “with a boyfriend,” I am pretty convinced the final scene will be bkdk’s crepe date, for Kohei to make it REALLY obvious to readers that they are now boyfriends, but even if it’s not this date specifically, I still think the final page will either be them holding hands or hugging each other. It’ll be a really loving final page, fully encapsulating Izuku’s journey of being somebody who was born different and thus rejected by quirk society (Katsuki), to somebody who is being loved and accepted by it (also Katsuki).

But I do think there will be a lot more emphasis on their personal relationship and romantic love for each other in general. Basically it is impossible to end this series in an open ended way that doesn’t appreciate their absolute love for each other, just as they are. 💕

It all started with bkdk, so it’ll end with bkdk. 😌 🧡💚

Under the pastel hues of the twilight sky, the air carried the sweet scent of cherry blossoms that stirred gently in a peaceful rhythm. Midoriya and Bakugo, hearts entwined in ways deeper than most could fathom, ambled through the hushed streets with their fingers laced together, both reveling in the comfortable silence afforded to them after a long day.

The girls were returning from a date Midoriya thinks went well considering how most things in her life were the opposite however today was calm and she wasn't going to complain about a thing. Midoriya wore her white lacy dress while Bakugo was in jeans, and a top that was pretty cute even if it was slightly covered by her jacket.

They went to a quaint little shop at the end of a cobblestone alley, famed for its delicate cone crepes and rich flavors Midiorya heard that it was really popular and kept talking about going so Kacchan finally took her there since she would "whine so much about it"

"The crepes danced upon your taste buds." She heard from classmates who have been.

With delicate paper wrapping cradling their chosen delights, they continued their journey home, stealing glances that spoke volumes of unvoiced adoration.

Midoriya's crepe, sprinkled with chocolate shavings atop a mountain of whipped cream, was no match for her appetite. She relished each bite with such childlike delight that it left a smudge of cream on her cheek. Bakugo watched her with what she could only consider a gleam of affection in her eyes; it was these small, serene moments that Katsuki treasured most.

Approaching their shared home the door clicked softly behind them as they stepped into familiarity and comfort. It was then that Bakugo reached out tenderly, thumb coaxing away the trace of sweetness from Midoriya's face. She brought it to her lips with a teasing smirk, tasting the remnant dessert as well as the undercurrent of something more profoundly shared.

“Kacchan!” Midoriya's eyes became large, her cheeks flushed, retreating a step but unable to hide her smile. Her heart skipped as Bakugo's smirk softly threatened her into a sly expression. Without warning, Midoriya tried to run laughter filled the room Bakugo hoisted Midoriya catching her before she could get far, she lifted her up with effortless grace before spinning her into the living room where she landed on the plush couch—a bouquet of giggles escaping from her lips. The world paused in their haven, rays of glee weaving through the room like music.

After sometime of cuddling they settled into each other's embrace, time itself melted between them. There was a gentleness to Bakugo’s movements—contrasting so greatly with her usual fierce bravado—a tenderness reserved for her "Deku" alone. When their lips met in a kiss so sweet it rivaled their earlier treat, there remained nothing but love suffusing every heartbeat and breath between them.

Deku's voice whispered into the softness around them: “I love you Kacchan,” arms tightening to pull her Kacchan even closer—if such a thing were possible.

“You too bug,” Bakugo responded with another old nickname made anew. Her voice imbued with protectiveness yet brimming with an unparalleled softness—a promise whispered against pink lips for now and all days to come.

Alright, another fic idea but this time.... Bkdk angst. 🧡💚

Amnesia Quirk!With a Twist!

You've been warned.

At the height of their prohero careers, Izuku is hit with an amnesia quirk. Only, he seems to have lost just the memories connected to his husband Bakugou Katsuki. It might be a bit awkward, but can still work and live his life for the month it'll take for the memories to come back.

And they do.

His first memory, it comes back the same day he'd been hit.

Their first date. An amusement park with crepes and smiles and holding hands-

And as the days pass, more and more memories replace the blank space in his mind. Of all of the good times they've had together. Memories of their wedding, their anniversaries, birthdays, fun times, winning a good battle, childhood memories that mysteriously cut off...

An apology.

It lacks context, but these memories make his heart sing. Izuku couldn't stop himself from forming a crush on the blonde even if he tried. These feelings are even further reinforced by the frequently retrieved memories. He spouts praises in a way that feels familiar and his heart blossoms with delight over how perfect they are together.

Izuku's constantly showing his affection and appreciation, but as the month continues Bakugou starts to act strangely. Bakugou is careful to disengage from the warm hugs and flirty smiles, reminding Izuku that "things weren't always like this" and shying away from Izuku's approval that "He's not perfect, he's made mistakes."

This does not deter Izuku. He's head over heels for this man and every new memory he just sinks even deeper...

That is.

Until the good memories run out.

There's a little less than a week to go when one arrives. It's not too bad, maybe a bit confusing, but Izuku doesnt mind it.

But they keep coming. Pieces to some of the other memories that leave some of them a bit more bittersweet. Memories where Kacchan's harshness was less funny, more frustrating. And then scary.

Izuku is shattered. Their romance had seemed so wonderful and easy, almost like a dream, and he's losing it with every new memory gained. They feel tainted, nothing about them seems real; Like there's some kind of caveat to every whispered promise.

He's frustrated with himself, confused and upset and not understanding why these memories were hidden from him to save so much heartache til the end and it just keeps getting worse.

Kacchan had warned him, but he couldn't have known it would hurt so much.

There aren't any good memories left. Nothing to soothe this ache- the betrayl- and he can't help looking at their relationship differently the closer they get to the worst of their fights and arguments. Things that even Katsuki knows he can't explain...

Sidenote here:

I've noticed in amnesia!quirk fics that when it comes to the angsty memories between bkdk, like their middle school experience, there are usually still some good memories to soothe the amnesiac to remember and return to their partner.

This is probably since most of the memories are returned

A. Chronologically

B. Randomly, as plot dictates

C. All at once

These types of fics are great, don't get me wrong! I eat it up. Amnesia fics are great for angst fodder.

I'd just love to see if anyone else had this thought of the memories coming back based on progression of Good ones to Bad ones (to Worse ones). I like that there is no redemption from the quirk. It rearranges the perception of the person it affects in such an awful way.

Bkdk would seriously have their work cut out for them at the end of the month.

I think my fav thing that happened was the leaks night when chapter 403 came out and everyone (and me) was going absolutely apeshit over a certain someone’s return and the Eye Contact™️ that was shared so yeah it was just such a thrilling experience and I really felt united with the fandom and overjoyed about Katsuki coming back

2. I started shipping bkdk last year, and funnily enough it all started during the second half of the togachako fight (“You really think I’m cute?” “The cutest girl in the whole world”). I was like that’s gay and then I got tumblr and read togachako metas and went that’s even gayer which then led me to bakudeku metas and that’s when I went oh wait these guys actually make sense oh shit it’s not toxic anymore holy fuck I GET IT NOW

(but if I’m being honest with myself, I subconsciously shipped these guys since the beginning but I was too blind (heteronormative) to see)

(like I made an oc pair that was bkdk coded and went but I don’t ship them irl ahhahaha what I def don’t save bkdk pins on pinterest or read bkdk fics or anything nope izu///ocha all the way guys)

These boys mean so much to me, and so does this series. I honestly still can’t believe it’s about to end.

I went from hating Katsuki to absolutely adoring him, and Izuku was the first protagonist I ever felt like I completely related to. He brought me such comfort during the aftermath of the pandemic. Like, I too am sensitive and a crybaby and a nerd, and I verbally process things (mumble), and I had low self-esteem, and I had people in my life call me weak and put me down (and I mayyyy have projected those people onto Katsuki a bit…). And Izuku gave me hope that one day I could be like him, and that I’d rise up against the situations that seemed impossible and beat them anyways, and that the people in my life would eventually realize that they’re wrong about me (and one of them has!🥹).

And seeing these two boys grow and develop (especially after rereading the manga) is just something else. It’s crazy how I went from trying to ignore Katsuki and his hot-headed self to being so invested in his emotions and feelings and his devotion to Izuku like 😭😭😭😭

No matter how this series ends, it’s definitely going to hold a special place in my heart for a long time.
