Anyways Zevlor has another set of horns you could hold, Rolan can cast a hands free thunderwave, Raphael is royalty with a crown to prove it and Haarlep is receiving stamps like a passport.

because what on earth could possibly be powerful enough to push against a literal god clawing at your mind and sanity, trying to make you into a monster, trying to kill everything aorund you.

the way the tiefling kids rely on each other and on alfira. the way rolan makes sure to save them en route to last life even though it costs him lia and cal. the story that mirkon writes for you. lakrissa's playfun banter and, hopefully, finding something or someone to believe in (alfira, if you can save her). the way how, after her parents death, arabella looks at you and bone man as the two closest things to parents she still has. bex and danis are new love personified - both so caring and so compassionate. the way that lia and cal (esp lia) keep hoping in the best in you, even when it looks bleakest at moonrise.

Every single refugee you meet who doesn't get killed by the game itself, if you can push back against your urges, will eventually give you the exact things you need to defeat Bhaal.

Deep down I just might wonder if the Urge (and the Butler) wanted those tieflings dead precisely because what they offered was the way out for Durge.

Honestly, saving the Elturian tiefling refugees in BG3 Act 1 hits so much harder as a Dark Urge (2x if you play a tiefling durge, 3x if you've already played as Tav/Durge and gotten emotionally attached).

Because this game REALLY digs in hardest on the urge against them. Alfira is self-explanatory, but you also daydream about killing every single one of the kids (and can actively make it happen in a couple cases most notably Arabella). But everywhere you turn, Bhaal is putting bloody murderous thoughts about these mostly sweet and kind refugees in your head.

THEN if they survive round 1, when you meet up at Last Light, pops doubles down. "Hey, kill the cleric shielding this place, it'll be REALLY funny.". So one wrong move move and, yup, tieflings die! Plus some of them die before you even get there! Death's REALLY lurking around every corner for them this time. And if you don't kill them? "Hey, know that companion you've been smooching? KILL THEM!"

Yeah, you have to do something about your 'bard problem' (sorry Quil), and that's horrific, but how powerful is it when you have the god of murder putting horrifying thoughts in your head 24/7 and your durge just stands there going "absolutely the fuck not."

(I am going to have a LOT of thoughts about my Dark Urge run and playing it with the same character I rolled as Tav before. I apologize for nothing)

Rewinding back to the Last Light Inn cause I haven't tormented Rolan enough. Ember's got zero shame and no interest in getting dressed before breakfast (she's worked nights for 2 decades so the fact she's awake before noon is a miracle, honestly)

If Rolan didn't owe her big time she would be getting the dressing down (hah) of her life.

Maybe Tav brings him up and asks him for his opinion of it, or if he can Identify it for them.

Personally, I don't think Rolan would be interested in the necromantic spells it offers. But he might want to examine it for knowledge's sake (or to show off). I'm not sure if he would want to keep it, but I think he would keep 'the gift' begrudgingly. If you insist.

Ok, I had a whole ass though process and I have yet to find a single fanfiction or whatnot written about this (I could possibly just not have come across it yet, so if anybody knows of one, please feel free to like, say it are link it or whatever in the comments, because I would gladly read it) but if not, holy rolan empire, my fellow rolan lovers, any writers feel free to put your take on this, I will fucking read all of them! So basically I was thinking about, In act one, when you meet Rolan and maybe tav is trying to become friends like a little bit, despite the fact that he definitely irritates her, she does care about all the tieflings in the Grove and before you know, you have the tiefliing party and defeat the goblins are whatever, there's an alchemists like lair or lab, or whatever underneath the blighted village where you can find a spell book or tome called the necromancy of that. At any point, you can give it to your companions or keep it for yourself and learn some spells and stuff. But I was wondering, what do you guys think would happen, and how would it play out if you chose to give the book to Rolan instead? like what would he do with it?? when he eventually goes into lorrakans, would he sneak down into the archives to find the book that's needed to help him unlock the full potential of the to me?? would he appreciate it?? because he is a wizard and he is seeking knowledge. I know he's not necessarily a necromancer, but I'm wondering if he would want to learn anyway. So if anybody has a theory or an idea about this, I would love to read it.
