Hi ! First of all, huge fan of your project, and I really look forward to March ! What prompted your love for Sherlock Holmes, and when was it ? And was there a specific videogame that made you go "oh, hell I want to make a game too!" If so, which one was it ?
I think there are two definite phases to me liking Sherlock Holmes. The first was when I was about 11 or 12, which saw me reading some of the stories and getting up early to watch Granada Holmes reruns on satellite tv. I had a deerstalker which was enormous on me, and tried learning to play the violin, and insisted my parents take me to Baker Street so I could have my picture taken there (ok, and also because Danger Mouse lived there.)
As for *why* I liked them so much, I think it was probably the combination of feeling like grown-up books with a grown-up hero (important when you're a tween), and feeling a kinship with Holmes as a bit of an oddball like myself - but a heroic one. I think I'd been primed for it by loving Great Mouse Detective and a series of kids books called Shirley Holmes when I was younger. But it was a solitary love - I didn't know anyone else who was remotely interested in them, and eventually I moved on to other things. Specifically I think the 2005 Doctor Who revival happened, and suddenly I had a thing I loved which I could talk about with classmates!
(I'm afraid I might have to disappoint some people that I wasn't a circa 2012 BBC Sherlock fangirl - I didn't really watch it. I casually saw the first few series when they aired, and that's about it.)
In late 2021 went back to reading Sherlock Holmes and found I enjoyed them just as much as an adult, if not more with the added social and cultural context I had. Dracula Daily had just run for the first time, and I told myself that in 2023 when the Sherlock Holmes stories were public domain, I'd do a similar thing. Then Dracula Daily ran again and REALLY took off in popularity, and my little project suddenly got way more attention too, and suddenly it was like I was that 12 year old again loving Sherlock Holmes, but now I had so many friends who did too.
It's been that sense of community which has been fuelling me for the past few years. I've never really fit into traditional fandom spaces for a few reasons, but I find that I vibe with Sherlock Holmes folks!
(I am answering asks, if anyone has one!)

I am going to fight everyone who has turned Sherlock Holmes into this edgy, rude, arse of a character. This man is kind, caring, sympathetic, and knows how to interact with people (even if he'd prefer to avoid doing so).
I get the whole genuis-who- can't -relate- to -the -way- normal -people- function, but y'know what, he's not condescending about it. He doesnt necessarily think himeself to be above the masses. He admits to being beaten without throwing a tantrum about it.
Being a genuis doesn't mean or necessitate being cold and unfeeling
#BBC Sherlock I'm looking specifically at you#fuck you very much#i feel like the edgy interpretations kinda give AuDHD a bad rep as well#there's struggles with relating to neurotypicals ofc#but bbc sherlock is so devoid of sympathy even#and i think that destroys a lot of what acd sherlock was#and the arrogance is a whole other story#anyways#there's my rant#Sherlock#Sherlock Holmes#acd sherlock holmes#acd holmes#bookblr#the adventures of sherlock holmes#asra reads#acd canon

American to English translation for fic
So I read and write fanfic, as do lots of others, and I've noticed that when it comes to British shows or movies, Americanisms or American terms crop up often. It's mostly because most don't know we have specific terms for things in the UK, and I've seen references here and there before, but I've decided to write one of my own. Feel free to add to it tho! I'm gonna put it up on Ao3 too and any additions, I'll reference the tumblr and link them on Ao3 too.
AO3 link is here!!
Anyway, here we go I guess.
Some Americanisms to English-isms
Gas = fuel/petrol/diesel (we tend to specify the type of fuel the vehicle uses, diesel vehicle or petrol vehicle for example)
Gas station = petrol/fuel station
Gas court = petrol/fuel court, or sometimes forecourt (not often with this one tho)
License plate = registration plate/reg
Diner = cafe
Fast-food = takeaway (this is sort of interchangeable. McDonald's is called fast food, a meal from a pizza place that delivers is takeaway)
Motel = hotel
Side-note: We tend to use specific named hotel chains like Premier Inn (or Prem-Inn for short) or Holiday Inn or Travelodge. We also have Britannia Hotels and several others. If the fic is based in a specific place, local hotels or famous ones may be better options. For example, in Liverpool, we have The Shankly or Adelphi.
Cab = taxi or black hac for a specific type of taxi.
Side-note: These are what you see in BBC Sherlock, for example, and are a UK staple. They're less popular or common-place nowadays but there are dedicated taxi companies that use them. There's on in my town that operates until 4pm each day. They are also usually more expensive than a car taxi but they have oodles of space and you can have a pram/buggy kept upright rather than folded-down in them which is brilliant.
Cop = police officer
Side note: more informal, colloquial terms include "copper", "the fuzz", "tit-head" (because of the nipple hat okay, just look up the hat, it's hilarious), "bobby", "rozzer" (pronounced r-o-z-er not Row-zer), and "the bill" (there's an actual show called this btw. It can be a good reference for anyone writing crime fic in UK). There's more but those are the most common. Older terms do include "peelers" and "old bill".
Second side-note: the police have a whole host of terms, colloquial and slang that can be a great thing to include in fic, which I'll link a glossary of here. It's not all UK centric but cross-country policing is a thing so that may just be a boon imho. Also the short-hand acroynmns used are useful so here's a link to the Metropolitan Police glossary of those too!
Patrolman = constable or police constable
Antenna = aerial or TV aerial
Fall (season) = autumn
Bill = banknote or specifically "tenner", "fiver", "twenny" (not "twenty"). We don't have single banknotes like a dollar bill. We have pound coins
Dimes, nickels, etc = pound coin, two-pound coin, fifty-pence, penny, two-pence, five-pence, ten-pence, twenty-pence (link here about the coin currency)
Drug store = chemist or pharmacy
Optometrist = optician
Primary care physician = GP (general practitioner) here's a link about UK medical terms for doctors etc
Side-note: here's a link about medical terminologies etc between American and UK
Social security number = national insurance number
Liquor store = off-license or, specifically, Bargain Booze™
Liquor = spirits (usually)
Store = shop
Target, Walmart, etc = honestly, it's probably gonna be Tesco, ASDA, Morrisons, ALDI or Lidl
Superstore = supermarket
Shopping cart = shopping trolley or just "trolley"
Yard-sale = car-boot/car-bootie/car-boot sale
Attorney = barrister or solicitor (solicitors you go to for legal help, barristers tend to be involved in actual court matters, like a the Crown Prosecution Service), here's a link that explains it better
Janitor = caretaker
French-fries = chips (although McDonald's French-fries are just that, French-fries)
Intersection = crossroad
Highway/freeway = motorway
Interstate = usually an A-road or a motorway, we don't really have interstates here)
Overpass = flyover
Turnpike = toll motorway
Windshield = windscreen
Trunk of a car = boot or car boot
Hood of a car = bonnet or car bonnet
Truck = lorry
Sedan = saloon car
Blowout = puncture or flat tyre
Pavement = road
Sidewalk = path
Subway = underground (like the London Underground)
Drapes = curtains (though we do use "drapes" we tend to say "curtains" more)
Pacifier = dummy or "dodo" or "dodi"
Diaper = nappie or a pull-up (if its like underwear for toddlers)
Baby crib = baby cot (though we do use "crib", we tend to say "cot" more)
Baby carriage/pushchair/stroller = pram or buggy (more specific type tho, here's a link about the differences)
Trash/garbage can = bin, dustbin, rubbish bin
Garbage/trash collector = binman/binmen
Mail = post
Mailman = postman
Mailbox = postbox
The movies = cinema or pictures
Movie = film (less common nowadays with influence of Americanisms but I still use "film" and a lot of people my age and older do too (25+)
First floor = ground floor okay, it's the ground floor because it's on ground level
Sneakers = unless they're Converse, it's probably just "trainers"
Baggage = luggage
Purse (as in the bag) = handbag, or "purse" but that tends to be the thing you put your money and cards in then put in your handbag
Vacuum cleaner = hoover or a specific brand like Henry Hoover™, which you'll find we tend to just call Henry (though I have a John Lewis hoover I got from George, ASDA that I've named 'George' and yes, I do say "I need to use George in a bit to hoover" regularly)
Sweater = jumper or, if it buttons up it's a cardigan or cardi
Closet = wardrobe
Elevator = lift
Call collect = reverse charges
Schools = we have primary/infants (11yrs)and secondary/high school (11-16yo) with some high schools have sixth-form college (16-18yo) or actual independent colleges for the same ages
College = university
Semester = term
Vacation = holiday
Kindergarten = nursey/reception
Flashlight = torch
Wrench = spanner
Backyard = garden
Cookie = biscuits
Chips = crisps (like Walkers™ or Lays™ in the States)
Pants = trousers
Cottoncandy = candyfloss
Dude = bloke/fella/mate
John Doe = John Smith
Exhausted (tired) = knackered
Cell phone = mobile
Cell data = mobile data/4G/5G
Bathroom/restroom = loo/toilet (informal term "bog")
Thanks = cheers
Soccer = football
Y'all = "you lot"
Fuck off/hit the road/go away = bugger off
Some slang phrases too
Bits and bobs = stuff, usually random
Take the mick/mickey = making fun of someone or over-exaggerating
Bob's your uncle = there you go, basically
Bog standard = typical, run of the mill kind of deal
Gutted = feel upset, disappointed
Dull as dishwater = basically really, really fuckin boring
Chinwag = basically "shooting the breeze" or just having a talk/chat
.
If you have any others that you think of or want added, reblog and add em! Tags too if you'd prefer but reblogs would be easier ☺️

Re-Read Recs: Victorian Edition
Thanks to @totallysilvergirl for pointing me to this post by @acethatlovesdinos asking for more Victorian Johnlock. Your timing is great; I was just compiling a list of Victorian setting fics for my next RRR post!
If you go searching specifically for Johnlock in a Victorian setting, part of the problem, as always, will be finding things. As admirable as the AO3 tagging system is, when you're searching for something specific, you still have to dig a bit.
Many people, myself included, assign all their Victorian stories to the fandom tag "Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle."
But some writers add "Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle" to all their stories, including those set in BBC or other adaptations, because they wish to attribute the characters' creator.
And some do not use the ACD tag at all because their stories, even those in a Victorian setting, are inspired by the BBC adaptation and imagined with those characters.
There are other tags: Victorian, Victorian Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, Victorian Holmes/Watson, Victorian Johnlock.
(My own approach: readers may imagine whatever actors they prefer; I tag by the setting. Even so, I've tagged stories set in the 1920s and 1820s as ACD, even though these are outside of the Victorian Era.)
There is no one-click method to separate out all the stories, and only the stories, where Watson and Holmes are together in a Victorian setting. AO3 lets us use tags however we wish; it's a folksonomy, a collaborative system. For the number and variety of stories contained there, it is the most practical method.
You can search an individual author's works, filtering and sorting by kudos, hits, relationships, tags, and other things. You can search anyone's bookmarks in the same way. (I'm always surprised when people don't know this!)
If you search my works, for example, you will find 60 stories in the Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle fandom. A couple of those are tagged 'timetravel,' so if you don't want that, you can exclude that tag. If you don't want any stories with Mary Morstan married to John Watson, you can exclude John Watson/Mary Morstan under Relationships.
However you search, if you filter your search results by hits or kudos, you will find that stories in the ACD/Victorian Johnlock category have many fewer of these. AO3 went live only a year or so before BBC Sherlock began to air, and it was one of the top fandoms for many years. There are a huge number of stories in the BBC fandom.
But there are dedicated and talented authors who have been writing Holmes/Watson for a long time, and today I'd like to point you towards a few of them. Here are some of my favorite re-reads:
Memento Vivere - @mydogwatson - The life stories of Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes and John Watson. An alternate history.
My Gentle Sin Is This - janeofarc - It takes a near miss for Holmes to realize that he cannot imagine his life without Watson.
Missing Pages - @PlaidAdder - a group of interlinked short stories (most between 2000 and 7000 words) which tell the story of how Holmes and Watson really came to be separated at the Reichenbach Falls, and how they found each other again
Missing - @Random_Nexus - Holmes is missing. Watson is trying to figure out where he is and what happened.
Oubliette - gardnerhill - A series: a treatise on love and grief. Watson is kidnapped by a gang; Holmes must find him before it's too late.
Laphroaig in the Lumber Room - wordybirdy - Holmes & Watson discover a bottle of Laphroaig inside the lumber room at Baker Street. A drinking game of truth results in intimate confessions.
All of these authors have written many excellent Victorian Holmes/Watson fics. But there are many more you should look at if you want to read more of our boys in their original canon setting. I think I will have to write a Part 2 for this post!
Thanks for reblogging!

Hi Steph ! I do realise you get an enormous amount of requests, but I hope you'll find time to answer mine. I hope this hasn't been answered before ?
What are, in your opinion, the most in-character, and BBC accurate Johnlock fanfics you've ever read ?
I'm currently looking for something very canon-compliant, and I'm having a bit of trouble. Any length and rating will do !
Thank you for everything you do ! Your work for the Sherlock (especially johnlock/TJLC) has always been quite remarkable :)
Excellent day to you !

Hi Lovely!
Thank you for your kind words, it's much appreciated!!!
As for in-character fics, I should state here that "in-character" is subjective to each individual, so my idea of "in-character" will be different from other people's!
That said, any of my fic recs on any of my Fic Rec Lists that aren't appended with MFL (because I haven't read them) could be considered what I call in-character, LOL. BUT if you want some of my faves, these will be the ones to start with:

So, I was thinking about different fandoms and the fics that I love. What makes a good, satisfying fan fic? I realize it has 100% to do with the canon.
Take BBC Sherlock. I struggle so much with AUs where their beginnings are different. Sherlock is an astronaut, assigned to work with scientist John. (This is an example, not a dig at any specific fic). I can't. I can't. I realize BBC Sherlock is also an AU from Doyle, but BBC Sherlock and John are so fucking tied to "A Study In Pink" and John handing his phone to Sherlock that everything else seems false. Fun premise, but not the Sherlock and John I know.
A satisfying Johnlock fan fic needs to change the ending of the BBC canon. To think of these two men, who love each other so much, just continuing their parallel existences, never becoming anything more than crime-fighting buds, is just. . . it doesn't fit. It doesn't fit the show. It doesn't fit the characters Moffit and Gatiss created, even if they decided to not make it happen (as a special 'fuck you' to their fans). It's heartbreaking.
My favorite fics are fixits -- many of them deal with the aftermath of Euros and Mary, or some do "canon intercepts" and deal with Seasons 3 and 4 differently. Still, anything but John and Sherlock raising Rosie together as partners/lovers/husbands in 221B with Mrs. Hudson downstairs feels like a lie. (Some canon intercepts write out Rosie completely.)
If I had to write sequels to BBC canon, I'd pick "Drawn to Stars" by @totallysilvergirl or "Never Turn Your Back on the Sea” by @discordantwords . There's a thousand other ones, but those ring the most true to me.
"Heartstopper" fics don't have a lot of room to mess with the ending. Anything other than Charlie and Nick happily growing old together is so far out of canon and out of character that it doesn't even seem like it's worth exploring. There are a handful of ones that have one character or the other dying, but mostly, we understand right away that Charlie and Nick are endgame. We are 100% aligned with canon and creator on this.
Anything that isn't true to this ending rings as false as anything that isn't true to Sherlock's beginning. Fun to read, but not our characters.
With Nick and Charlie being so young in canon, their beginnings are so much malleable. Sherlock and John are tied to that lab. Nick and Charlie? not so much. They meet in grammar school. They meet in University. They meet after a hot hookup at a club in their 20s. They meet after broken marriages to Imogen and Ben. They meet during Nick's rugby career or as fellow teachers. They meet at gyms, at animal rescues, at psychiatric hospitals. They are single parents, University professors, rock star drummers, hot shot authors and academics. Their beginning isn't fixed. But the end always is.
I have so many favorites but I just re-read "Lavender Fields" and I think it's a perfect Nick and Charlie meeting up in their 30s fics. There's a ton of University fics too.
I haven't read nearly as many fics from other fandoms, so I don't know their quirks. I'm finding that fandoms that don't have a m/m pairing are hard to find a lot of fics for. (That's a whole 'nother post). But other m/m fandoms seem to have canon-compliant extra scenes. (Wanna see Achilles and Patroclus get freaky in a tent somewhere? Here ya go. That being said, there's one about Achilles waiting for Patroclus in the Underworld that breaks. my. damn. heart.)
Anyways, I need to do a serious look-through of other fandoms to see how this plays out.
I should add the links here to the fics I mention, just because.

Misconceptions of Sherlock and Co
Here I am going to list some misconceptions that I saw before getting into Sherlock and Co that I felt need to be corrected for any new people trying to listen. The things listed might be dubbed critiques. If you are someone who does not like criticism on your favorite pieces of media, please show yourself out now.
Johnlock is endgame
I beg every Sherlock lover who love the stories in every variation and specifically Johnlock, please stop setting yourselves up for disappointment. Unless it is explicitly said, don't believe it's canon. The reason why I say this is when this podcast first started to come out, everyone said johnlock was going to happen. Those are some of the most popular tiktoks about Sherlock and Co. And I won't lie, it was the push that made me listen to the podcast. I can't find where I saw it please if you can find it, send it to me. They said, the creators, that wasn't within their plans. John and Mariana though? I don't know if it'll actually happen, but it just feels like that's what they're pushing towards. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but the name Mariana is a lot like Mary. Speaking of Mariana--
It's just John and Sherlock
It may appear like that for a couple of episodes, but Mariana becomes an essential part of the team and she is here to stay. If you were one of the people who just wanted the boys, you're probably going to be disappointed because that is not the case here. Mrs. Hudson whose real name is Mariana also helps in solving crimes. Usually I would say if you didn't like Molly appearing in episodes, you also might not like this. But Mariana actually has some type of depth. So maybe you'll actually enjoy her appearances in episodes.
These Are New Interpretations of Sherlock and John
Yes and no. This might be controversial, but it didn't feel new. And it didn't feel like ACD's characterization. John and Sherlock's characterizations seems like they took a lot of inspiration from bbc Sherlock even down to some of the mannerisms especially the way they speak. It feels almost like fanfiction where they took the bbc Sherlock character interpretations of John and Sherlock and put them in an alternate universe. Over time though, they seem to be straying and they're now becoming their own characters. But if you told me at the beginning, "oh this is a new podcast based on bbc Sherlock fanfiction" I would've believed it.
POC Friendly
LOOK LISTEN, I'm not saying they're spouting out slurs. But someone, a white person, posted this is a poc friendly podcast. When I heard that, I assumed certain things. I assumed they had POC cast and crew, they had sensitivity writers, cultural consulting, etc. The cast and crew, respectfully, are majority if not completely white. I remember looking up Sherlock's voice actor after seeing all the fanart and I was so confused seeing a white man. Now this doesn't mean that POC should run away from it, but this does mean that when they say/do certain stuff there's no one to tell them "hey maybe let's not do that." There are instances that felt ignorant and unnecessary. In the Blue Carbuncle, they read a letter or a transcript from someone who saw an incident in the street (avoiding spoilers). I don't know how to phrase this, but it felt very much like they were mimicking some type of POC (most likely black). And they didn't put on a blaccent or anything, but just the fact that it was a white writer writing this making fun of how they spoke rubbed me the wrong way. And it went on far too long. Then there was Sherlock bowing at an Asian restaurant and John told him it was inappropriate, but I was stuck on why was it added? It wasn't humor and didn't have to do with a case. It shows Sherlock's ignorance, sure, but it just really didn't add anything. When it comes to content made by white british people, the bar on racial awareness for me is to the ground. I don't expect them not to have ignorant moments. But stuff like that, it is something that should be accounted for when you try to say something like it's "poc friendly." So would I say POC friendly, not really. Is it welcoming of everyone no matter what race or ethnicity? Yes. There's not a sign on the podcast that says POC do not enter, but be aware what majority demographic is a part of this and that they probably are going to say stuff out of ignorance.

I've been meaning to write this post for awhile, but I haven't gotten around to it. Plus, I wanted to see if anything else changed before I made a post. I genuinely don't see this as critiques just pointing out stuff for those who might go in thinking this podcast is something it's not. But I still put the criticism warning for people who might not want to see this. I really enjoy this podcast and it inspired me to read the original stories. They put a new spin on these stories that's modern, different, and still entertaining.

Innocence!
Bbc Sherlock x virgin reader!
Warning:- fingering, age gap, sexual context!
Request:- Can I request 14 and 29 from the smut prompts with sherlock please? I can’t wait to see what you come up with! ~ anon!
Prompt list!
"Ugh, I said no" y/n said on phone annoyingly before hanging up. Sherlock was stunned to see her in such a mood. His roommate, or rather little roomate is always childish (like him) but what caused her to be annoyed. He calls her little roommate because she always acts like a baby and was also quite younger than him.
"What's wrong little...." Sherlock was about to say his favourite nickname for her but y/n stopped him.
"Don't you dare say that, I'm very mad."
"I just wanted to know what's wrong" said Sherlock.
"Ugh, this fucking guy friend of mine want's to hookup with me"
"Oh" said Sherlock as this topic he tends to avoid cause he's way too ahead of this, "so what's stopping you."
"I don't want to" snaps y/n
"Wait wait wait, don't tell me it's Chris" Sherlock asks now, he's now perfectly invested in solving y/n's case.
"What... How do you know that?" Asked she.
"Oh because when you received the call you were happy and when he talked of hooking up you were annoyed, you totally have a crush on him but you may not be ready for sex and it's totally fine." Said Sherlock.
"No I can't hide a thing from you" y/n snapped again.
"Mmmm no you can't" said he and gave a mischievous smile, which said 'i'll always win'.
"But it's not that I'm not ready." She started to explain.
"So?" Sherlock enquired putting his laptop down.
"I don't want a casual hookup, I can only sleep with someone I love, and also..."
"And also?" He asked.
"Nothing but yeah just casual hookup ain't my thing."
"Hmmm... What kinda men do you like though." Asked Sherlock and this did the trick. She blushed and looked away, Sherlock always noticed how she'd stare at him when he's inside in his house robes, how domestic, he noticed she'd stare at his long fingers and there's something about her blush when Sherlock is to close to her. He knew she might like him. But he was too older. Over ten years, so he preferred to keep it platonic, but he knows the truth, when she comes out of the bathroom wearing a bathrobe, water still dripping from hair, it does makes Sherlock stare too. When she watches herself in the mirror and wears lipstick, winks at her own reflection Sherlock does stares then as well. Y/n thought before answering him, "i don't think I have a specific type but if I have sex, I'd want someone who'd care for me because...."
"Because?"
"I don't know anything about it honestly." She admitted. Sherlock got up and said, "sit here little...."
"No, not that name". She warned.
"Okay, come sit we'll discuss about this Chris guy."
She sits on his couch and takes her phone in hand. When He suddenly came close to y/n. His face very close to her, she liked it. She even blushed furiously,
"Wh-what?" She asked softly.
"Nothing just... wanna taste my cupcake." He replied seductively.
Slowly he pressed his lips on hers. She returned the the kiss. She knew how to kiss thankfully but the next thing was new, Sherlock slipped a tongue inside her mouth and so did she. She cupped his face and enjoyed their tongues dancing. Then His lips went from her lips to her soft cheeks and then neck and collarbone, no one ever visited those places. Her whimpers and gasps reflected her inexperience. She caught his back and the upper arm tightly as his hand went to touch her delicate soft thighs, then to upwards.
"Sherlock" his name came out as whimper as he touched exactly where even she herself never did. Sherlock lifted his face from her neck and enquired with baffled eyes, "you never touched yourself?"
In reply y/n could only shake her head. To this, Sherlock gave a mischievous smirk. And his hand slide inside her panties to touch where she needed to be. Her eyes closed in pleasure and in embarrassment. Sherlock exploring her. The places of her body which no body ever has. His fingers touched her slit and the clit. She couldn't help but whimper softly.
"You're wet, so wet." Sherlock said, rather whispered.
"I've never been... Ah touched like this before". Y/n replied.
"Good" he whispered to her ear, intentionally so his voice send shivers down her spine. He rubbed his finger against her clit. This was enough for her to moan. She gripped him tightly almost her small nails as if it would dig in his flesh making holes in his coat. "Oh fuck" she moaned followed by a hum. Her innocent child like face making such sounds? Sherlock may have been more turned on by her helpless state, her innocent face. She was absolutely inexperienced when it came to sex.
"I never knew you make such sweet noises" teased Sherlock.
"Neither do I." She replied rather whispered between her pleasure.
As she grew more wet he took this opportunity to slide his finger in her. This was new to her too. A sudden low scream came out of her mouth.
"Shhhh don't let Mrs Hudson know". Said he. And started to finger her. She rolled her eyes once he got the rhythm, in pleasure.
"You like it little cupcake?" Asked he . She could hardly talk back, yet tried and said, "don't stop please". Looking at him with her puppy eyes, Sherlock wouldn't admit but he was a sucker for that baby face and her puppy eyes.
"I don't intend to." He replied and fastened his speed.
"Keep doing what you're doing, please Sherlock." She pleaded.
"I got you". He fingered her harder until he felt she was close and came all over his finger. He held her and she panted for her first time experiencing something like that.
"This is how you do it." Sherlock said with a smile. A smile which had care and mischief both. To this she needed to reply to her detective. She turned and smirked. Her confidence grew alot after this so she said,
"Maybe you can teach me something more."

Hey I don't know if you still do phone flings, or if you only do specific ones, but if you do, can you please do basil hcs. I'm sorry i just weirdly love him.
Ah shit, here we go again *cracks knuckles*
TO THE WIKI!
also side note my thoughts while heading to the wiki are 'oh boy, can't wait for Sherlock Holmes to send me a dick pic' lol
(dude side note, I'm fucking BAFFLED how the wiki's only trivia note is that his name comes from Basil of Baker street. Literally no other mentions of the countless other sherlock references! There's book, RDJ movies and the BBC series refs in here WHAT GIVES WIKI TRIVIA!)
So obvs he has a sweet tooth, that's just canon
Also he can get a little bit kinky (that's also canon)
he's decently well read but in a way of like--- like he remembers characters and plot points but he wouldn't have that many in depth opinions on the happenings in those books (like Poe would)
though he WOULD have a decent knowledge of the basic take aways most people know of said books (example: Holden asking the cab driver what happens to the ducks in the park when the pond freezes over in Catcher in the Rye is just him, as a teen, asking an adult 'what will happen to me in winter aka in the winter of life aka Adulthood cause that book is very scared of adulthood)
(He'd also know that the pond in central park doesn't freeze over lol)
Loves loves LOVES to leave you riddles and clues and scavenger hunts as a way of flirting
it'd be hard to have a domestic life with him cause he'd constantly be in and out and disappearing in the middle of the night
also dying at random for a full 10 years and then OOPS he's actually alive lol
but if you don't mind that shit then he's the perfect guy for you
has no friends, Winston is his only friend and he annoys him to no end
Seems charming to you cause he's actively being charming when around you
in his natural habitat though he can be VERY scatter brained and a bit rude
not cause he's trying to be a dick he just gets going and steam rolls things and people
that's another thing, he sometimes jumps from idea to idea without verbally connecting the dots and then is confused when people aren't following his mad chain of logic
side note if you can follow his chain of logic, or are clever enough to keep up with him, he's putty in your hands IMMEDIATELY
he's actually some what easy to seduce
not that that takes away from him falling for you
he's easy to SEDUCE, falling in love is a hell of a different thing all together
if he's in one of his thinking holes, where he just sits there and PONDERS paying the rest of the world no mind, bring him some tea, sit it next to him and watch him instinctively drink it, it's the funniest shit
thinks about you a lot when he's playing his violin
that or mysterious
but the music get so romantic so fast so--- yeah mostly you
knows lots of random cures for things
like pickle juice for hang overs and that kinda crap
may forget to eat himself but always remembers whether or not YOU'VE eaten
he actually notices and remembers things with or about you much more than anything else
which is saying something cause he's perceptive as fuck and has a mind like a steal trap
tends to look at things logically, so he can sometimes be not the best company when it comes to things like enjoying art or media
but that's where you come in and his listening skills turn on cause he ADORES seeing the world through your eyes
you're so much more lively and vivacious than he's ever seen in a person
also certain things start to click for him, like songs and poems
he gets them now
he gets them cause when he hears them, he just thinks of you
#bear text#blush blush game#blush blush#bear talks#bb game#sad panda studios#phone fling#Basil#basil blush blush#blush blush basil#his was a lot more charming than some of the others#good on him

hello miles! found your bolg and thought you seemed cool :)
do you have any favourite sherlock fics (based on any adaptation), or are you more of a canon guy? i'm not looking for anything specific, i'm just curious if you have any favourites.
what's your favourite adaptation? (you can also share why if you want!)
are there any other fandoms you enjoy? i personally find that i get easily pulled into fandoms that have sherlock- and john-coded characters, such as House MD
i hope you don't mind my getting-to-know-you questions, feel free to leave anything unanswered!
hello, my friend! that is so nice of you to say!!
you know, it's funny, i'm starting to get into reading fics right now...the sherlock fandoms are comprised of so many gifted writers! aren't we spoiled? that being said, i have more experience with published sherlock pastiches. a murmuring of bees and my dearest holmes are ones that i own and love. if you have any fic recs send them my way!
my favorite adaptation may very well be ACD's sherlock holmes; i first read the novels when i was in my tweens and it might be my most long-standing special interest. i love ACD's prose and ability to convey such strong personality, much more than i love the mysteries... i only got into the film/TV adaptations in the past year! BBC sherlock was something i tried to get into when it first aired but it didn't click with me back then. i'm sooo late to the party but i'm glad i'm here now instead of never! i watched all of the basil rathbone films for a film class project on hollywood's golden age actors (the victorian era films are the best to me, though the WWII era films can be compelling) and i have a fondness for those due to the memory. and basil rathbone is a walking, talking sidney paget illustration which is so cool to me! i'm currently in the process of watching the granada sherlock production and i'm LOVING it! it's so monumental in its technical design. my favorite film has to be the private life of sherlock holmes..? i could go on! as for other shows like house MD and elementary, i watched those ages ago and must get back to them at some point on my journey through adaptations! sherlock hound was a beautifully made anime...i own several vinyl records of the soundtrack because the score is just so lovely! i know there are other sherlock anime/manga out there but i haven't explored those yet. some of the radio shows i've listened to. i'm currently reading the angels of darkness and the secret of sherlock holmes scripts as far as plays go! i've also seen many of the silent films but have struggled to find them all...so very lovely that they recently restored the last of the lost films! i must admit i cried when i saw that that happened.
regarding other fandoms/interests, i would say music is one of the most important things to me and i could talk for ages about that. i love a lot of video games! since i'm a film major that's often what i spend my time doing, as well. my interests are so broad that it's very hard to pin them down for you...
thank you for the opportunity to go on & on about sherlock!

Before we start
I feel like I need to make a pinned post to introduce myself before I go on further with 'crying shaking throwing up' posts. So. Here it is!
You can call me R. I'm a '96 baby, not in the sense that I'm actually a baby but in the sense "you CAN and should do the math" because I know this blog will be updated so sporadically I'm not gonna update my age. Right now I'm 28, but you could be reading this as I'm approaching my 30s.
Three things about me: I'm haunted by Sherlock Holmes and the ghost of johnlock, I'm a TS scholar in the sense that I've been listening and reading and analysing her shit since i was at the ripe age of 13 years old, and all this should lead y'all to understand that I'm both a tinhatter and a deeply skeptic person. I have trust issues AND I like making theories, is that so bad?
Now, how the fuck did I end up here?
Imagine: it's the year of our lord 2024. I've been away from the 1D fandom, and the Larry fandom even more specifically (I was a lurker) for almost ten (10) years.
I used to lurk in Larry spaces between ?I think late 2011? to 2014. You can imagine what kind of fun year was 2012 to me. (Haylor is still, to this day, my Roman empire.)
Back in the day, I was a bit gullible (not to the point of believing the reborn dolls shit, sorry), so my thoughts in the last ten years have always been "well I don't know what actually happened between them: maybe they were, maybe they weren't" because i was Young (15 to 18) and not from an english speaking country and I probably missed a lot of nuance, and i didn't have the tools to analyse that stuff critically.
I didn't even listen to their albums unless a track was sneaked into my Spotify algorithm. And even then, I didn't pay that attention to lyrics or anything.
I'm blissfully ignorant, and I know I'm happy.
Fast forward to last month: the clock app (we all know the one) recommends me a video with Love of my life (as a TS scholar I cannot shorten it for fear of confusing the two). I'm like: huh. Inch resting. Let's hear the whole song. Oh, it's about "England"? I did not know an entire country could take a plane! Welcome back Sherlock from the hit BBC serie saying he missed "London" while talking about John, I guess?
Now I'm being silly goofy, but that kind of shocked me deeply to my core. Because like, okay. You're a songwriter and you're a DramatiqueTM songwriter at that. But. You WERE the love of my LIFE when you've barely reached a quarter of your life is objectively insane. That's something that has left a mark on you. And somehow I deeply doubt it's about one of his highly public relationship with one of the "blue eyed models" that Blondie was talking about.
So I started to dig into their songwriting catalogues, and boi oh boi. My frontal lobe is fully developed (hopefully), I have little to no parasocial relationship with two guys who I haven't looked for in the last ten (10) years, I'm an adult with a job and a degree and a second one on the way, and yet my first thought reading their lyrics was "oh, you guys are still both at the fucking restaurant, huh".
And now, here I am, with a new sideblog because I can't inundate my friends' dashboards with stuff we all agreed we outgrew ten years ago. I know I made this introduction so easily recognisable my friends could see it's me from a mile away. If you end up here, sorry for the war flashbacks! I love you!
I hope you all can enjoy your stay as I rediscover old Larry stuff, find out what I've missed in the last ten years, and generally comment on the state of whatever these two are doing.
#twelve years later#< that one is my rambling about putting shit into perspective tag#idk i think i will update if i ever come up with new tags#ma se dio vuole a sessione invernale finita questo viaggio nella memoria sarà finito

Submission message for Sherlock and Moriarty: BBC Sherlock and Moriarty
Submission messagefor Charles and Erik: Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr (aka Professor X and Magneto) from anything X-Men
Additional propaganda: Sherlock is literally the page image for the Wikipedia page on Queerbaiting. Also, it's Aromantic Day of Visibility so I'm here to remind you that any straight depiction of Sherlock is erasure and queerbaiting of one of the greatest aroace characters in the history of literature.
Okay but Cherik (Spot 12) is so incredibly queer I can’t even—
Like straight up they have a kid together because Professor X siphoned off Magneto into his brain and then they did a mind meld thing and Onslaught came out of Professor X like Athena from Zeus.
There was a recent story arc where they defeated Onslaught and the guy who defeated Onslaught straight up said something like ‘Professor X and Magneto aren’t doing anything because they have a soft spot for their murderous joint kid entity’. Please bear in mind that this guy is also straight-up Professor X’s son and a telepath.
Also this comic book cover is literally the gayest thing I have ever seen.
Magneto is a bara daddy for 0 reason and Professor X is supposed to be dead, yet looks like a twink having the absolute time of his LIFE.
Also in a marvel comic specifically for celebrating canon queer couples there’s this stunner of a panel:
Why is this not canon again???
God, the matched Hellfire Gala outfits are making me insane in the membrane.
For context here’s literally THEE couple of the X-men universe at the exact same party:
They’re complimentary— even they’re not fucking MATCHING. For the love of god just let the old men kiss holy shit.

International flight complaints!
One teeeeeny bottle of water for 14 hours straight?? I don't expect a full sized one, but the bottle they gave us with the first meal seemed smaller than usual. I usually don't drink the whole thing but this one I had to ration. And yeah they have drink service two or three times where you can get a small cup of something. And if you're dying of thirst you can call someone. But come on. You can't bring liquids through security, so if you want something to drink that you can sip for the whole flight you have to buy it in the airport for three times the price anywhere else. I don't care a bout sodas and whatever, but water bottles should always be affordable if you won't let them bring their own drinks. It's fourteen hours dude, and that's not including getting to the airport, waiting around, going through customs, waiting for baggage, getting the connecting flight and then two trains and a taxi back home. Until I got out of the airport I was stuck with random drinking fountains and the teeny water bottle. What I SHOULD have done, I think this is allowed?? is bring an empty water bottle and fill it at the drinking fountain. I never thought about it before because I swear the water bottles on planes, while small, didn't used to be that small. This was the first time I felt water deprived. Next time I will definitely try to bring something I can fill up myself.
The movie selection was abysmal! Non-kid offerings were 75% superheroes. And on top of that there were other action movies. Want to watch something that isn't loud and obnoxious? Go fuck yourself lol. I did watch this one indie film that sounds like it was a festival winner, it was very amateurish looking, but kinda good? The kind of story that could be pretty interesting if it'd had a budget for just a little more editing. It's called Kujira no Machi and could have been (maybe even was) a seinen manga easy. A few kind of inexplicable weird bits - seinen is known for that but I really did feel ?? about a few parts - but overall I was invested and I loved the ending. A surprise good find. They also had Mr Holmes, which was a nice surprise too - Guy Ritchie Holmes and BBC Sherlock (s2 this time) seems to be ever present on this airline, so it was nice to get to watch a different take on Sherlock Holmes. After those two I was... kinda stuck for things to watch, especially on the return trip since it was largely the same movie line-up and I did NOT want to watch all Guardians of the Galaxy movies in succession.
AND THE ADS. I'm paying thousands of dollars for this flight and you still have to show me ads before every single thing! And not just one or even two... five! One for a sneakers company, two for wifi, and two for JAL offers. THE SAME FIVE ADS BEFORE EVERY SINGLE MOVIE. Followed by the "wear your seatbelt" reminder, followed be three or four opening credits... then at last you can watch the movie. Smh. I can of course opt to not watch anything... for fourteen hours! If I could sleep on planes I would but I can't. Nothing else helps the time go by. Fine play the stupid ads, but play ONE per movie, or play them all in one go but only ONCE.
Speaking of movies... I was flying to Japan from the US with JAL. Maybe because of that, they specifically seek out movies with a connection to Japan? Idk how else to explain why so many options took place partially in Japan or referenced Japan. The weird part is the references aren't always... tasteful? They run the gamut: Mr Holmes (featuring the aftermath of the atomic bomb, plus "exotic foreign superfood prickly ash," and Japanese Holmes superfans); Touch (featuring the Japanese ex-girlfriend, the piece of Japan inserted into London, what I'm pretty sure was actually a JAL flight, and the atomic bomb again); The Last Samurai (I don't have to explain this one right lol); Breakfast at Tiffany's (featuring the infamous Mr Yuniyoshi, who as a "grumpy neighbor" character wouldbe fine if he hadn't been ripped straight out of a WWII anti-Japanese propoganda poster). Etc. I get you want to appeal to the interests of many passengers, but... are these choices really the best you can do? lol. I do like Mr Holmes and Touch was a pretty good watch too if you like slow-paced movies. But I do feel like I need to read the novel to appreciate it more. The tone of the movie was really nice, but if you look just at the plot without the tone, it leaves a couple big points just sort of hanging, particularly regarding the main character's Icelandic family. Otherwise I really liked it and thought the interactions between the man character and the Japanese family-run restaurant he works at seemed very authentic. The book will either make me love it more or absolutely hate it, depending to how it deals with the atomic bomb. It's so common in literature that the atomic bomb is made into metaphor or treated like the only part of Japan history. I think talking about the impact of such a weapon is even more important now than ever, but not at the cost of reducing every Japanese person (especially in this day and age) to symbols of that horror for foreign consumption. Not saying Touch does this, but it's common enough that I always want more info.
Bonus: This is extra because it isn't anyone's fault - can't blame the airline or anyone here. I traveled back here while it was still New Year vacation for most people in Japan, because the price for the flight was waaay cheaper than going even one day later. I def would have preferred to leave a day later, but not for that much money. But that meant most places were closed enirely, or at least closing early for the holiday. Since I was getting in so late (didn't reach my town until 9:30 pm) I knew there wouldn't be many options for food besides conbini, but I expected fast food at least would be open. Nnnope! It's the holiday so the closed "early" at 9 pm lol. Luckily Gust was open so I got takeout from there. I really just wanted to be home and not lugging my bags everywhere and I also really didn't want conbini food... Thank goodness for Gust (but sorry for the workers and the delivery guy xP hope they make some extra bucks working over the holiday)

(I sent a similar ask a while ago but it seems you didn't get it sorry if it's twice) Hey so I only recently found your account and first of all, discovering asexuality from watching Sherlock is the funniest identity finding story I've ever heard (I read it on one of your posts), second of all, I love how structured your blog is (you've written SO much and it's surprisingly structured) ANYWAY that was a long introduction, my actual question is: Do you know why season 4 turned out the way it did?
luminescentlama asked: So I found your blog and I have a couple of things to note 1. Your profile picture is so gay (queer) /pos 2. Finding out about your own asexuality through analyzing Sherlock is the funniest realization story I have ever heard 3. I read your one post on why the show isn't queerbating and I feel better now so thank u :)
====
Hey Lovely!
Sorry, I've been sick and feeling a bit overwhelmed with literally everything, so I apologize for not replying right away; I often put off some asks so I have at least one new piece of content daily! I found your other ask and did miss it, so I do apologize!!
In response to your comments:
The larger version of my icon without the flags is here. The flag version was just for Pride month and I forgot to change to my Christmas icon this year, but I just left it because I like the pride version better.
RE: my sexuality, I am assuming you mean that with kindness (it CAN be perceived as not-nice teasing on initial read). Assuming it was one of these posts that you're referencing, and it's completely true. In the early days of the fandom, one of the little running jokes was that this show helped so many people realize that they were queer, LOL. For me, seeing a lot of myself in Sherlock, I imprinted on him and for some reason it jumpstarted my journey of self-discovery in my mid-thirties.
Thank you very much for the kind words on my blog. I work meticulously to keep it tidy and I LITERALLY have filed every single post for at least the past 5 years, so it makes it easier to find posts and reference back to them. I also have a meticulous tagging system (most of the time) that probably only makes sense to me, hahah. I love when you guys notice those kind of things, and I'm glad that my posts please you.
As for S4, no. We've got some tinhat theories, but these days I'm a bit more cynical about the tinhat theories and look more to Occam's razor theories: I just feel like Mofftiss "got bored" with the series, were mad people figured out their planned endgame (you know, like a good show / series ENCOURAGES in their fanbase), took their ball and went home and now just keep teasing to keep Sherlock the Brand profitable; ANOTHER theory is that around TAB, there was a shakeup at the BBC of the higher ups; Another was actor interference; and another was copy right issues at the time with the remaining stories. Who knows anymore, tbh.
Which then segues into your queerbaiting comment, I feel without a resolution in S5, then it is. But again, could be just me goalpost-shifting. But I do have a LOT of thoughts on S4 post-series, which are still entertaining reads and can be binged here on my Post S4 Meta Masterpost (August 2018). I have more recent posts as well, but will need more specific questions to direct you to them, LOL.
Anyway, again, sorry for the delay in a reply, but I hope that this response was worth the wait, and that you continue to enjoy your time here *HUGS*

💀okay so not a specific user but i need to get this off my chest. so one of my favourite new shows was renewed for a second season and I'm super excited, especially as it's from my country, I was watching it from the start, and a lot of my favourite locally made shows keep ending after one season so this is a small win for me.
However, there is a lot of overlap with another fandom that I find deeply annoying and some users are now posting in the tag comparing the two shows and I'm like 'STOP!!!! NO!!!' Because beyond sharing ONE actor the shows have nothing in common and I just need these users to PLEASE engage with more things in the genre, but I don't want to be a dickhead so i'm jsut looking though the dash, grinning and baring it for all eternity aaargh.
you suffer more than jesus... remember when every character in every period movie benedict cucubatch had ever been in was shipped with bbc sherlock and the fandom tags were full of sherlock and no actual content for the actual canon and characters? god. terrible when that happens.
#conversely. this is how I feel these days when I go into my F1 blorbo's tag and half the posts are about this other F1 guy :/#literally WHY are you here!!!!#askbox games#💀 asks

Hi! When Aziraphale looked at Crowley like that after Crowley saved his books from burning in S1, it nearly made me tear up. I don't even cry after watching something on screen lol.
Is there any specific name for that trope? "A does a favour for B and B can't stop themselves from looking at A with heart-eyes." (Or is it too specific to be a trope? Because something similar happened in ASIP of BBC Sherlock too when Angelo brought the cane to John and John turned to look at Sherlock with a similar expression.)
I think It's called "queer blond disaster doesn't know how to communicate that they're about to break down and cry or fuck their partners silly when the camera's off" LOL
LOL if you liked that scene... light spoilers, S2 EXPANDS on that scene, so I think you'll enjoy it. It's... Ooof pretty gay.
I'm so happy to hear about how you're enjoying Good Omens! :D You can see why a lot of the Sherlock fandom latched onto it after S4 LOL
#steph replies#good omens#go parallels#good omens vs sherlock#disaster blonds#it's a trope at this point honestly#like every show has it now lol#my gifs
