My Final Thoughts on 7x07 (taken from Shattering’s latest A/N...)

All right, y'all. This is gonna suck to say but...we may have to brace ourselves for SCANDAL ending without a proper happily ever after. I know, I know, you're gonna be like: "BITCH, happily ever after has been a Myth in SCANDAL since late Season 2" and I agree but before, there was wiggle room. There was a little bit of leeway that offered enough hope for folks to imagine all of the bullshit culminating in a HEA.

The Winter Finale got rid of that leeway.  

Quinn Perkins' fate is going to determine what kind of endgame we're gonna get for SCANDAL in general and especially regarding Olivia Pope.  

If Quinn is really dead (and she better not be because she deserves so much better than to be sacrificed in the name of EVIL and Pope pissing matches!), then that's it. There is no way that Olivia will get be happy in the end (or alive, given how well Charlie and Huck has reacted to Quinn being gone) and even if she is redeemed, after her rightful fall from "Grace", a lot of folks, including me aren't gonna be able to dismiss or forgive Liv's actions this time. So, Quinn better not be dead but if she is, then HEA ain't gonna happen for Olivia and that sucks because she is still the Leading Lady.

And it's very plausible for SR to really destroy Olivia in the end in the name of her "Vision" and "taking back the show" and that's okay because honestly? Olivia doesn't deserve to be happy or even alive at this point. Maybe I'm just not seeing it.  Enlighten me if you do because I got nothing. After all, I've been pretty much done and dusted with "the Journey" after what happened in Season 5 but a part of me who still loves Olivia Pope, the Olivia Pope she was and not the one she is now, really wants a good endgame, a happily ever after for her, with and without Fitz. After 7 fucking years, that's what we deserve.

Sadly, what we deserve and what we get, 9 times out of 10, are two very different things and they're usually horrifying.  

There was good in the Midseason Finale. I enjoyed the return of Maya. I enjoyed what little Fitz we got and the fact that Mellie broke free of Liv's control enough to right the wrong she did re: Teddy and Fitz seeing him (can we get rid of the Mellivia "friendship" and "feminism", though? It's just disgusting at this point). I enjoyed Olivia calling Rowan out for being a shitty father/human (and thoroughly destroying what few scraps Ojokers have in the process), even though that doesn't excuse her choices. I even enjoyed Rosen and Abby reuniting. But, like I said at the outset, whatever happens to Quinn is what's going to happen to SCANDAL in its endgame.  

I am definitely here for a broken and miserable Olivia Pope. Whether she stays that way forever is up to 7B. And as angry as I am, as bloodthirsty as I am against this Olivia Pope, the part of me that still loves who she used to be wants to her heal and be happy. And hell, we fucking deserve to see a happy ending for her, inside and outside of Olitz. It's been 7 years with most of the content past Season 2 being bullshit. It would be right for us to get some good shit in the end but I'm ready if we don't. That's what fic is for.
