Goodreads Monday: The Day Human Prince (Day Human Trilogy: Book 1) by B. Kristin McMichael
This is a weekly meme where anyone can choose a random book from their Goodreads TBR and highlight it. This meme was formerly featured on LaurensPageTurners and was taken over by Budget Tales Book Blog. Book One of The Day Human Trilogy, featuring characters from The Blue Eyes Trilogy. Devin Alexander grew up as the only day human in a world surrounded by night humans who drank blood, sometimes…

Oops, hello! And with this latest read: this trilogy has ended. And to be honest, the book picked up where it left off, but it took a turn I disliked completely. I can still enjoy the rest, but this one left a bad taste in my mouth. Hopefully, I can put my feelings into words while you read the summary and my thank you note. So, thank you for taking your time reading this review, I have the screenshots, as usual, to share... so keep scrolling if you want to see them!
Arianna has gathered the outside clans to decide her fate in marriage. A tournament will be held, and she is the prize, whether she wants to be or not. The only thing for her to do is watch the clan leaders fight over her, or is it? Thanks to her team’s well-made plans, Arianna has other strategies in place. Hopefully one of those plans will earn her freedom. As the contestants gather and she learns more about the night human world, there are new allies to keep close and more enemies to keep even closer. Some even hold more secrets to her legend and possibly the actual reason to her existence. Now Arianna must decide what to do with the fate she has been dealt. The time has come to step out of the shadows of the men who protect her, and into her own power. The time is now for Arianna to take control, and fight for the destiny she wants to live. (less)
In the last volume, Arianna found new abilities, and this time around, let’s double it. New things are coming, new paths too. But before that happens, some new allies and non-allies will come to light. And some eye-rolling events as well. Even though the tournament was a dreading moment, I couldn’t wait to read about it. But don’t go betting all your chips into being entertained by it, it will not be at Gladiator level. But it will be awesome nonetheless.
Arianna is destined to be something else, but she’ll be a butterfly hereby becoming something else entirely. It feels cheesy to say it, but she truly is the future: a teenager with little knowledge still is to become the strongest, but the wisest on here. And the lack of knowledge will keep showing up until the last page. However, do expect an almost-death and two bondings. Which brings me the dislike I’ve uttered in the intro: Devin. This character was likable, and you could even tell that he was set to die, but damn, the turn of events: he lives, and is bonded to a girl he can’t stand while having to let go of the girl he liked very much. Oh my God, look at the spoiler! I wonder if I should talk some more. Was this satisfying? I can’t tell. I liked the book, but that turn was a bummer, but I do get that there’s a story to be told, and this was a way to do it. I have been pondering for the past three days if I should hop on that wagon, I think I will… but not just yet.
I will, however, add that this trilogy could’ve been ONE book. It would be a somewhat big book, but it would have that flow every bookworm loves, and the review would be: “awesome, but let me add”. I will leave you to the screenshots because I have nothing else to add.

The Witchling Seer - B. Kristin McMichael
The Witchling Seer B. Kristin McMichael Genre: Paranormal Price: $3.99 Publish Date: August 30, 2016 Publisher: B. Kristin McMichael Seller: Smashwords, Inc. Book Three of the Skinwalkers Witchling Trilogy Cassie wasn’t happy when she got her first mate. Then she got a second mate. She’d give anything to have no mates; that is until she meets someone who once had her same fate. Instead of running from it, Cassie is told to embrace it and make her own choices. That is exactly what she plans to do, but how can she make choices when she never seems to have all the facts? And details are what she needs now that her friend’s family is missing, along with several other members of the coven. Something more is happening, and this time, the wendigo are not part of it. The peace Cassie brought between the two clans is very thin. She must work quickly to find a solution, but there always seem to be more questions than answers. Cassie needs to learn how to be the seer she should be, but that is a problem since the coven is still bent on taking her powers from her. Attacked from all fronts, Cassie has to step up and take control, for the fate of her friends, family, and clan. Cassie’s life is anything but boring, no matter what she tries to do. Maybe once the dust settles she can have a normal life, if she figures out who she truly is in time to survive the coming battles. http://bit.ly/2VKFKHC

January 2023 Wrap Up
January was a busy reading month for me. Because of that, I could complete all my reading challenges for the month!! Woot!! It was also a busy month, personally, for me. The highlights of this month are: Miss B left her dual high school and college credits program. Snickers going to the emergency vet with a bloody eye. She came home with a torn tear duct and a torn lower lid. BK going back to…

Getting back to this trilogy, I wanted to cross it off my list. Started reading this series back in March (and I will explain why I had a relapse into no books for months on end, but that explanation will be available for the last review of the year - and at this rate, you won’t even feel the time pass since I haven’t been reading much; I have that explanation already written by the way) and I am happy to have picked up. It was a sweet deal and I completed the purchase for the remaining two books: Becoming a Legend and Winning the Legend. Anyway, many thanks for taking your time reading this review. Enjoy the summary and my thoughts next, screenshots, and BOOM, another review post coming soon.
Arianna Grace is about to turn seventeen, and her life has been very complicated lately. She is the leader of four clans of night humans: dearg-dul, baku, tengu, and lycan. While the four clans seem to get along better with each other, there is internal conflict on both sides of her family, not to mention the three boys vying for her attention. Devin is set on keeping her safe above all else. Turner’s goal is to make her happy. And Andrew wants her for himself. At some point Arianna will have to choose between them, but first she needs to survive the plots against her.  Edward Lucan is making a chase for the power to lead the baku clans and is playing his cards by using his nephew Andrew to lure Arianna into a trap. Unfortunately for Lucan, Andrew has his own plans. He has spent the last year waiting for Arianna to see him as more than a friend, and he now finds it necessary to make a move for her affection, despite his uncle.  In the dearg-dul estate, Arianna discovers that the ambitious Lord Seeger has been laying his own strategies for power and is slowly poisoning her. After getting away with her grandfather’s murder, he is setting his sights on her. Luckily for Arianna, her team is on to all of the plans and is making their own counter strategies. Will it be enough to keep Arianna safe? Several people close to Arianna have been keeping secrets. If Arianna is to take power and control of the night, she will need to know the truth. Will someone finally tell her what it really means to become the legend everyone is waiting for, before it is too late to turn back?
A year has passed since Arianna was thrown into this new world full of history, rules, and information she still knows nothing about. And us readers will be as in the dark as the main character. Not fun, right? Anyway, this volume will illustrate a real problem: Arianna knows nothing of her own prophecy, and as her powers grow, so does the attempts on her life/kidnapping. Thankfully, this sixteen-year-old will try to grow into a real person and demand answers, because there’s not much she can do if she can’t see the whole picture. Tiring, cause everyone will try to keep everything lock up. Thank goodness for the new abilities. YAY!
Even though I am struggling to share what else has happened in this volume, I think the summary paints a nice picture altogether, and it’s a nice complement to my tiny unsuspected paragraph of a review. Just an FYI if you follow my updates on Goodreads… I am disappointed in myself because up to 39% I was struggling to remember who and what was who… so it took me a great while to catch up to what I remembered from The Legend of the Blue Eyes — only now it has crossed my mind to read my own review of the book… but come on, Brain, why not before I even started it? Guess what, I am about to read it once I finish writing this review to catch up some more. Am I confused still? Yes, I love background stories telling me why I am feeling the way I am feeling, but this one holds on to it until I get more and more confused. Yay!
