When the Reach controlled Blue Beetle and Green Beetle, Green Beetle acted as a mentor to Blue Beetle.

Now that Jaime and B'arzz are free, and the Reach have been chased off planet, that relationship is on much shakier ground.

EDIT This story has been removed from the young justice week tag that it was originally posted for. I have been politely reaching out to the organizer of that week for the last several days. I only received one minimal response, a promise that was not upheld. And while I support a blog owners right to post or not post whatever they want.

However when someone runs a content week they are asking for free art/fic of their desired content and during their desired time. I consider it very rude and disrespectful to ignore creators questions and fail to notice and/or promote art that was created and posted for that week with the weeks themes and guidelines. Especially when it is only the work or one or two creators being ignored while everything thing else posted both before and after is being promo-ed.

Green Beetle for the character ask?

My otp: B’arzz O’oomm/green scarab (I think they had the potential to turn out really cute if the scarab hadn’t died. *looks pointedly at the writers of Young Justice*)

My most hated pairing: I haven’t really seen it, but Green Beetle/Ambassador. Just... NO.

My unusual otp: I think if I was going to pair them with anyone really random, regardless of any real sense, it’d probably be Red Tornado. For some reason I think the two/three of them would get along fairly well and find it really calming to be around each other.

My crossover otp: Don’t really have one.

My brotp/friendship otp: Green Beetle and Martian Manhunter (I think B’arzz and J’onn would probably appreciate each others’ company, and the idea of the two of them having in-jokes and nudging each other into laughing amuses me.)

Character headcanon: Before the green scarab died, they and B’arzz really started to bond, and B’arzz was helping the scarab figure themself out. (Yes, I’m bitter af that the scarab is dead.)

I wanted to make a post about Martians in Young Justice because I know that it's not necessarily the easiest thing to remember.

(M'gann and her uncle, J'onn)

So let's start it off with M'gann's family. M'gann's parents are M'aatt M'orzz and J'ann M'orzz (interestingly enough, martians wives seem to take their husband's last names after marriage). M'gann's mom, J'ann, is J'onn J'onzz's sister. It seems that martian families tend to use the same first letter when naming their children.

M'gann has 12 sisters and 17 brothers but we've only met one of each. M'comm M'orzz, who is now calling himself Ma'alefa'ak, is M'gann's misguided little brother. Misguided is putting it nicely, the guy is a terrorist, but hopefully he can be redeemed for M'gann's sake. Em'ree J'onzz, born M'ree M'orzz, is M'gann's little sister and is the lead expert of zeta technology on Mars.

Alright so now let's get into the Martian races. Despite the fact that they're all basically genetically identical minus skin coloration and the fact that they can shapeshift, racism is rampant on Mars to the point of almost being in an all out race war.

There are Red Martians (B'lahdenn), Yellow Martians (Y'ellonn), Green Martians (G'arrunn) and White Martians (A'ashenn).

The Martian society views the 'pecking order' so to speak as B'lahdenn > Y'ellonn > G'arrunn > A'ashenn.

The B'lahdenn are royalty and only Martians from a royal blood line will be B'lahdenn so they are held above the rest. Notable B'lahdenn are the Queen, J'arlia J'axx, and the prince, J'emm J'axx.

(First and only shown Y'ellonn, S'yraa S'mitt)

Y'ellonn is actually not a 'race' in a traditional sense, any martian of any race could be Y'ellonn, they just have to be able to perform magic. Y'ellonn's permanently shapeshift their skin to be yellow and are highly respected in Martian society. Notable Y'ellonn are S'yraa S'mitt.

G'arrunn are the ethnic majority. They are just average Martians who are green. Notable G'arrunn are J'onn J'onzz, J'ann M'orzz and Em'ree J'onzz. B'arzz O'oomm, the Green Beetle, is another notable G'arrunn. R'ess E'dda is the jerk G'arrunn who tried to shut down Em'ree's project and keeps being generally villainous.

A'ashenn is the ethnic minority. They are viewed as less than because of their skin color. Notable A'ashenn are M'gann M'orzz, M'aatt M'orzz and M'comm M'orzz.

Who are the people in boxes 5 in top row, 1 2 and 5 in 3rd row, and 2 5 and 6 in bottom row?

Top fifth is Mary Bromfield. Then in the third row you have Isis, B'arzz O'oomm I think, Mera I'm pretty sure based on the shape of the crown and the color of the hair, and Delphis/Dolphin. And in the bottom row you asked about, the only one we can actually see is Madame Xanadu. The other two you wanted to know about are blocked by Superman and Black Lightning's heads

I'm like 96% sure the one partially covered by BL's head is the former green beetle, B'arzz O'oomm. It doesn't make a lot of sense though, because isn't he still on Mars? It could be Em'ree but her martian form doesn't really match up with the image and B'arzz's does

I’ve finally managed to watch the new episode and will get to work on my full notes tomorrow - but for now…

It’s occurred to me that my biggest reactions keep being on the smallest moments… oh well, I still love everything else.

Like, are these all up to date images? Tye looks a little different (especially without his headband) but Asami looks exactly the same - surely her appearance would have changed after 5ish years.

Who are in the three squares blocked by BL and Sups… is the one below Adam Strange Mera with her old crown?

Mary’s on there - do they know what happened with her or is it just that no ones aware she’s fallen off the wagon yet?

They’ve separated Jason Blood from Etrigon - is that because they don’t know at this point that they’re essentially one being with two forms?

Either way, my main take away from this episode is - we’re another step closer to a Runaway’s Reunion - which would be so CRASH!

1: sexuality headcanon: Tbh I don’t know. I haven’t really thought about it. He does strike me as the type to be gentle, considerate, and loving toward whoever he’s with though. 2: otp: This one is a bit of a toss-up. Like I can see him maybe developing a relationship with J’onn (because I’m certain after being under Reach control that he’d be wary about returning to Mars, but he’d miss the comfort of his culture and being home) or-- and this would be in the case of an extreme AU-- if his scarab didn’t die after they were freed from Reach control the two of them possibly developing a relationship. 3: brotp: Either B’arzz and Jaime (due to shared experiences), or-- again AU-- B’arzz and his scarab. 4: notp: Green Beetle x Black Beetle, Green Beetle x Reach Ambassador (neither of those strike me as healthy relationships), or Green Beetle x Jaime (he is WAY too old for Jaime). Come to think of it, no B’arzz x M’gann either (WAY too old). 5: first headcanon that pops into my head: For that brief period of time after he and his scarab were freed but before the scarab died, B’arzz was initially wary but used the example of Jaime and Khaji Da as motivation to try to befriend his scarab. They got far enough that one night when the freakout over being free started to get a little too overwhelming for the scarab, B’arzz was able to help calm them by talking with them and singing an old song from his childhood to them. That was the first night the two of them actually started to feel like they actually had a connection beyond their symbiosis. 6: favorite line from this character: “Does my smile displease? Is this not how humans convey friendship and put each other at ease?” (Granted I realize it was said while they were on mode, but it’s still hilarious.) 7: one way in which I relate to this character: Went through shit that was SO not deserved. 8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: Nothing really. Just the massive cringe involved with the scarab’s death. 9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? Cinnamon roll. Complete cinnamon roll. B’arzz and his scarab didn’t ask to be enslaved by the Reach for so long, they didn’t ask to be put through hell, and when they were freed they tried so hard to do the right thing but their bond wasn’t strong enough and led to the scarab’s death. I just... I have a lot of feels about these two and the possibilities of what could have been if they’d just had more time free and able to work out their relationship.

Martians in DC

Is that how martians really look in young justice? I thought the green looked like manhunter from justice league and white martians were just different. If martian manhunter really looks like that couldn’t the team have firguered out what M'gann really looked like a lot quicker? Anyone who knows Manhunter well could have known what he looked like, therefore knowing what M'gann looked like. Just saying.
