Bunjevci (Serbo-Croatian pronunciation: [bǔɲeːʋtsi, bǔː-]) are a South Slavic ethnic group. Catholic by religion, and Shtokavian-Ikavian by dialect, of which majority live in the Bačka region in Serbia (province of Vojvodina) and southern Hungary (Bács-Kiskun county, particularly in the Baja region).

They presumably originate from western Herzegovina, from where they migrated to Dalmatia, and from there to Lika and Bačka in the 16th and 17th century.

Bunjevci who remained in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as those in modern Croatia and Hungary, today maintain that designation chiefly as an ethno-regional identity, and often declare themselves as Croats.

Five minutes of Kecskemét Kecsekemét is a town in central Hungary and the county seat of Bács-Kiskun county, half way between Budapest and Szeged, almost equal distance from the two big rivers of the country, Danube and Tisza. The city is well known for its secessionist architecture, museums, and for being the birthplace of composer Zoltan Kodály. Built in Late-Baroque style, in 1774-1806 the Great Church is one of the main sisghts of the city - 3.4. and 5.picture. The frescoes in the sanctuary and the nave were painted in 1901 by Roskovics Ignats. The High altar and two side altars - one of them depicts the famous Madonna with apricot fruit, one of the symbol of Kecskemét, as the city is home to the famous Hungarian apricot brandy, called here pálinka - images are the works of Falkoner József Ferenc from 1791. The oldest church of the city is the Franciscan church, built in baroque style but on gothic bases from the the 13th century. Here you find the 'Kecskemét purgatory relief', a sculpture composition from 1792. Beneath the cross, the purgatory relief, remnants from the old cemetery. Mary Magdalene's and John the Apostle's statues moved here in 1982, originally were a part of a Calvary of the Cemetery too - 2. picture. The Ornamental Palace - 8. and 9. pictures - is one of the finest examples of Hungarian secessionist architecture, the building was completed in 1902 based on the designs of Hungarian architect Géza Márkus. Formerly an apartment building, it now houses the Kecskemét Gallery. The Kecskemét City Hall - last picture - is the house of the main administration of the city of Kecskemét, Bács-Kiskun County, Hungary. It was built in 1893 by the design of Ödön Lechner and Gyula Pártos. The decoration of the building, which consists of Zsolnay tile patterns inspired by old Magyar and Turkish folk art, was the start of the National Romanticism movement, which culminated in the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest. The building itself is more of a mixture between renaissance and baroque styles. Between the years 1895-96, in memoriam of the country’s 1000 years’ anniversary, based on the plans of the famous Viennese architect couple, Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer, the City Theatre of Kecskemet was built - 7. picture. The architectural masterpiece, often referred to as a jewel box is a heritage building today and still considered one of the most beautiful and richly decorated countryside theatres. The eclectic style of the building is enriched with neo-baroque ornaments that are mostly the work of Henrik Hausbeitner’s amazing craft of sculpture.
