Found in Mexico City in 1969 this stone sculpture of a dancing spider monkey wearing the wind conch shell and wind mask and is sitting in a serpent he's holding on his back.
Currently at the MET in New York.
At the end of the of the second age Quetzalcoatl let loose the
hurricanes and the winds blew all the people away. Some hung on to trees and they were turned into monkeys.
Monkeys also are connected with Xochipilli/Macuilxochitl.

I drew this during my visits to my mom and daddy’s place. I was inspired by Huitzilopochtli and by my old trainhopping days to create this.

Zoe. Venus.

AZTLAN Release Official Video for ‘Revolucionarios’
Revolucionarios, from Mexican folk/death metal group AZTLAN, is taken from the album Revolución. The concept of Aztlan is to expose the Mexican culture from ancient times like Aztecs and Mayan to the present day with the sound of Mariachi and Prehispanic Music through a world full of mysticism. Revolución is a conceptual album dedicated to the armed movement that took place in Mexico in 1910. It…

Chicano or Chicana is a chosen identity for many Mexican Americans in the United States.
Chicano was a classist and racist slur used toward low-income Mexicans that was first reclaimed in the 1940s among youth who belonged to the Pachuco subculture. By the 1960s, Chicano was widely reclaimed to express political empowerment, ethnic solidarity, and pride in being of Indigenous descent (with many using the Nahuatl language).
Tumblr media
Chicano developed its own meaning separate from Mexican American identity. Chicano Movement leaders expressed solidarity with the African political struggle and collaborated with the Black Power movement. Chicano youth in barrios rejected cultural assimilation into whiteness and embraced their own identity and worldview as a form of empowerment and resistance.

Prominent journalist Rubén Salazar defined a Chicano as “a Mexican-American with a non-Anglo image of himself
Tumblr media
In Mexico’s Indigenous regions, Indigenous people refer to members of the non-indigenous majority as mexicanos, referring to the modern nation of Mexico. Among themselves, the speaker identifies by their pueblo (village or tribal) identity, such as Mayan, Zapotec, Mixtec, Huastec, or any of the other hundreds of indigenous groups. A newly emigrated Nahuatl speaker in an urban center might have referred to his cultural relatives in this country, different from himself, as mexicanos, shortened to Chicanos or Xicanos.

It really kills me how little we are taught about the crimes of the so-called United States of Amerika against the Chicano people, in school we at least get told slavery and Jim crow and the trail of tears happened. Sure the realty is down played, and often the narrative around slavery becomes a "and then the heroic union freed all the slaves, thank god for white northerners!", but at least these crimes are mentioned. Not a single word was said to me in school about the treatment of the Chicanos, not a single one. I still know next to nothing about the history of Aztlan, and I am ashamed to admit that the first time I heard the word Chicano was reading a document by MIM (prisons).
“This society has done a good effort of hiding our history and ardently trying to erase our identity. It is OUR duty to fight to expose it to the general population but in particular to our Chicano youth. We have struggled and our blood is spilt all across Aztlan in the fields, in the barrios, and school campuses to prisons.”

In the land of Aztlan, where Aztec gods ruled, A decision was made, with hearts of stone hardened and cold. In the realm of Valhalla, where Viking legends resound, A choice had to be made, with fates of heroes unfound. From Greek mythology, where Zeus's thunder roared, An important decision awaited, consequences unforeseen, In the world of Atlantis, sunken deep under the sea, A crucial moment of truth, a destiny to decree. Each realm weighed their options, with wisdom and might, Their fates intertwined, like stars in the night. Ultimately, they chose wisely, with courage undeterred, In this hardcore poem, no easy answer was heard.

– Vasily Grossman, Vida y destino
“I hate Israel/Zionists because they’re white colonizers!”
No, that’s not why, because you have never in your life directed this much hatred toward actual white colonizers. You have never protested or boycotted or ostracized or harassed any actual white colonizers the way you do Jews.
