Caved and decided to post this cause I'm proud of it and damnit tac gear is hard as hell to draw so take art of Azrael and Graves.

Ancient Smurf Groups/Tribes

As we talk about this AU there will be several times where we bring up different groups/tribes of ancient smurfs that the current two villages we see today are descendants of.

As of now, there are 17 different groups planned out. Each are unique and have different traits depending on the biome they live in. But they all have a single common ancestor, that being Mother Nature who made the first three original groups out of a rare clay.

There were originally only three groups of smurfs, each having a population of about 100 before their population kinda exploded as they split into different groups. These three groups were the Pangea, Mountain and Giant Smurfs!

Here we will give you the basic rundown on each of those groups as best we can.

Pangea Smurfs:

This Ancient group was the first Smurf civilization in existence. The first generation of which started out with a population of 100, all made with clay by Mother Nature and existed when the Supercontinent Pangea was still a land mass and was just starting to break up.

These smurfs were found to have named themselves after colours.

These smurfs were also seen to have been travelling on all fours, only standing to make themselves look bigger to scare off predators.

They were also known to have sharper teeth and claws than today's smurfs. Preferring to use their teeth and claws to hunt or scavenge for food.

Pangea Smurfs were known to be nomadic, only settling down in separated groups when the continent really started splitting up. Most of the smurf groups we talk about are descended from this group. So just assume they split off from the Pangea Smurfs unless specified otherwise.

Cave Smurfs (Aka Mountain Smurfs):

This group's signature Animal is a cat.

Started out living on a mountain but migrated to the caves underneath.

These smurfs have fur and tend to be very fluffy due to living in a cold climate.

Are typically named after rocks/stones/gems or anything that can be found on a mountain or underground.

When trying to be formal/polite, these smurfs address each other with their jobs/positions before their name. (Example: Observationalist Granite. Researcher Jasper, Smurf Leader Malachite ect)

These smurfs typically build their houses in the walls of the cave (think smurfy underground hobbit holes)

These smurfs were also known for their worship of cats and the ancient cat goddess Bastet, believing them to be bringers of great luck and believing themselves to be descended from cats. They built several temples and statues made of different materials in honour of cats and were known to have a few roaming around the caverns.

They were also known to love cod but mainly fed them to their cats, rarely eating it themselves. Whenever fishers caught cod, most of it would be left in beautifully decorated food bowls to keep the cats constantly fed.

These smurfs also cultivated a group of rare glow worms that produced rare purple silk, which was mainly traded to the Nocturnal Smurfs, since they really love the colour purple.

These smurfs are also known to be very small, caused by an accident while Mother Nature was making the first generation of Pangea Smurfs. A few were accidentally made very small and were released on a mountain hoping that they would grow bigger as generations went on, this did not happen in fact they only got smaller. (The Wyrms)

Giant Smurfs

This group's signature Animal is a Mole. 

These smurfs are exactly as their name suggests. Giant. These smurfs are huge compared to the rest of the groups. (Example: Giant oc Rose is about the size of Azrael on all fours) This is because Mother Nature accidentally made a few too big while she was working on the first generation of Pangea Smurfs. She released them in a forest, thinking they’d get smaller as generations went on. They did not, in fact they got slightly bigger.

These smurfs are known to be nomadic but have been known to settle with other groups.

They are also known for having very long hair and don't really like to cut it. They also like putting plants and other things in their hair for decoration. They also do not like their hair touched by others, it is a great show of trust if a Giant smurf lets you brush or style their hair.

Giant smurfs love to sing as they travel, it is very common to hear them singing as one big group. And much like the howl from Zootopia, if one starts singing, the rest will quickly join in.

Some of these smurfs have been known to have hooves, not all of them but some.

Name: Rhys 'Azrael' Grey

Callsign: Shadow 6-1 (based on his SAS callsign Bravo 6-1)

Desc: Azrael is an ex SAS soldier at one point ending up a POW on a classified mission losing multiple members of the squad he was leading along with his fiance that had joined him on the team. After almost a decade of service multiple of his medical issues from childhood were finally diagnosed leaving him with a medical discharge and Azrael being the person he is definitely doesn't accept that as the end of his military career applying to Shadow Company intent on proving his abilities and keeping up his work.

Azrael is almost always found wearing as much covering clothing as possible almost never found without his neck gaiter on to cover the scars that mar the skin on his face and neck a painful reminder of captivity he's determined to keep hidden.(Though Graves and the other Shadows eventually coax him into opening up and wearing it less often)

Personality: Azrael is known for being extremely closed off keeping strong walls around himself to keep others out and away from his emotions and vulnerabilities. it's a major surprise to most to find that his old friends describe younger Azrael from before he was captured as cheery, sweet, and, extremely empathetic many don't exactly believe it considering most see him as cold and unfeeling, even if he does truly care for those around him just from behind his walls where he believes himself to be safer.

Name: Ashton 'Phoenix' Adair

Desc: Ashton is another ex-SAS soldier, having ended up a POW on the same mission as his ex-fiance Azrael, ending in them breaking up shortly after their release as guilt tears away at him, feeling he should have been able to protect his fiance and squad. It's not long before Ashton gets himself into trouble as he goes after the men responsible for him and Azrael's suffering leaving him on the run hiding from certain Russian extremists.

Ashton, with the help of a friend in high places, fakes his death, disappearing to work with Shadow Company on American soil where he's less likely to be discovered, and he still has opportunities to take out the men he's been searching for.

Personality: Ashton is known for being fiery, confident, and extroverted, often found chatting with the other shadows, happily helping out with what he can where he can without complaint.

Name: Vance 'V' Serra

Desc: Vance is and ex-Marine and has been close friends with Graves since they met encouraging the older man the entire way through starting Shadow Company despite his own contract with the Marines not exactly being up yet he waits out the time separated cheering his friend in from afar until finally he's able to resign immediately transferring himself to work with Graves once again become his right hand man.

All goes well for Vance for the most part the shadows do their jobs damn well and he's endlessly proud of his and Graves' men he's expecting things to go as usual as he's sent out in the convoy with the missiles only to find himself very wrong watching as his men are slaughtered he plays dead knowing damn well they have him outnumbered he's determined to make it back to Graves he waits out the soldiers as they collect the missiles keeping still even as the fire in the car licks at his skin immediately putting himself out and scrambling for a radio as the sounds of cars fade out he finds himself lucky as he's able to contact Graves ULF being able to send a small rescue team despite Shepards refusal to attempt proper rescue saving Vance's life leaving him in the hospital to recover during Las Almas returning to work as soon as he's cleared

Personality: Vance is known for being fiercely loyal to Shadow Company it's commander especially taking care of Graves and the shadows diligently making sure everyone is taken care of and not neglecting themselves his usual calm but happy demeanor soothing to those around him though that's definitely not saying he's not short tempered especially when it comes to defending Graves though the shadows often tease him for it prodding the man about having a crush despite Vance vehemently denying it.

Name: Emris 'Firefly' Hendricks

Desc: Emris is Shadow Company's most well-known demolitionist, always managing to find himself in trouble for some kind of energetic hijinks, often getting other shadows involved and getting slightly carried away. Emris is usually one of the many shadows messing with Graves in the most wholesome way possible, planting joke motivational posters of Graves and things, much to Graves' embarrassment, though he secretly finds it hilarious the shadows seem to love the posters and things so much.

Name: Arlo 'Icarus' Lyons

Desc: Arlo joined up with Shadow Company through interesting circumstances one of the few recruits trained by Shadow Company itself rather than coming from another military. Arlo is extremely dedicated to his work and loyal to Graves. the two had gotten along well since he joined Shadow company, though only a few years into his time with them through what he'd thought were harmless hookups to blow off steam, they had managed to get pregnant despite their infertility, despite the bad timing and circumstances, Arlo is understandably ecstatic having wanted kids of his own. though, due to the high-risk nature of her pregnancy, Arlo finds themselves on bed rest though Graves refuses to let him be alone considering, Arlo is single with no family, leaving him and Vance insistant on helping out and make sure he's cared for. he ends up having his daughter, Evie, with only mino8 complications, being age 8 as of the events of MW2 and 11 as of MW3.

Arlo does eventually defect from Shadow Company, joining up for 141 after the events of Las Almas. Despite the guilt he feels abandoning Graves, the young man couldn't cope with continuing to work with them, afraid of events like Las Almas repeating.

Personality: Arlo is known for being extremely sweet and charismatic keeping things running smoothly and arguments to a minimum at least to the best of his ability.

Her guilt only grew when Azrael ran away at 17 after being outed as trans, leaving her to reevaluate her parent's teachings. One could imagine the feeling of fear she felt when she found she'd started to crush on another girl at 16.

Maeve quickly realized she didn't want to live at home anymore and managed to forge he parents' signature, signing up for the British armed forces at 16, unknowingly following in Azrael's footsteps.

It's been ages since I wrote anything but take a lil writing snippet for the second picture↓

Let's just say Azrael had been having a rough few days; his desk is chock-full of paperwork that he's slowly ending up more and more behind on as even more piles up, and his rookies keep causing damn issues left and right. And worst of all, it was November, the shittiest damn month Azrael could think of. At least when it comes To his mental health that is. And, of course, as always, he hadn't told anyone about it. And he's pretty sure only Graves, Vance and a few other higher-ups are really the only ones who'd know why as they likely would have access to what the SAS would actually give them in terms of the documents detailing his capture because, of course, their stupid secrets mattered more than his superiors being informed…

Azrael sighed, carrying his coffee down to his office, his eyes half-lidded, looking as if he'd barely slept yet again, but that was normal this time of year. They were already a day into the anniversary of his capture, the second day out of a week and a half. It's not exactly surprising he hadn't slept despite the scoldings he'd always get from everyone. But really, I mean, how was he supposed to sleep with his nightmares waking him up constantly? He'd rather just start work at 3 am like he is now than focus on the lingering sensations he feels over his skin. He shakes his head, trying to shake away the thoughts, yelping as he runs into another Shadow, his hot coffee running down his clothes as his mug shatters on the floor, a pained hiss escaping his throat at the burning sensation.

“Christ-! Do you mind being a bit more-” Azrael's heart stops in his chest the moment his eyes meet an eerily familiar shade of green still having to look up at the much taller redhead just like he used to. For a moment, Azrael is completely and utterly convinced he's losing his mind. He hadn't properly slept in 24 hours, and suddenly, he was literally running into long-dead men.

The lieutenant takes a few shakey steps back almost stumbling as he stares at Ashton the older, very different looking Ashton his stupid fucking ex-fiance who was supposed to be dead… and here he was, His hair now straightened out no longer in the firey red natural curls he remembered.. God he even has the piercings he'd constantly ranted about wanting but that he'd always too scared to get due to his mother and her controlling religious abuse… he wasn't dead… Ash. wasn't. dead.

“You- you… fuck no- god, you're kidding me. You're actually fucking with me right now! right…?” Azrael forces out trying desperately to hide the shaking of his voice behind his frustration, his breathing picking up before he can even notice it.

“Shit-! Rhys sweetheart I can explain alright- fuck you weren't supposed to be here-” Ashton stammers out practically stumbling over himself as he tries to explain and apologize immediately attempting to pull Azrael into a hug, something that probably would have worked 10 fucking years ago but, not now not anymore, hell Azrael could barely place the last time he let someone hug him by now.

Azrael pushes his gloved hand against Ashton's chest stopping the taller man in his tracks, an unrelenting cold glare in his eyes as he stares up at the man he used to love ~~the man he still loves~~. A glare Azrael knows damn well he doesn't actually mean he can't actually hate Ash not even now…

“Don't. Touch. Me… And It's Azrael nobody calls me Rhys anymore, and I don't want you to either. now get wherever the hell you're going-” Azrael has to Pause, glancing at Ash’s dog tags and finding his rank. “Get wherever the hell you're going, Sergeant, and fast…” The lieutenant forces the words out as a growl, desperately trying to hide the fact he felt like breaking down.

The smaller man pushes past Ash harshly, walking towards his office as fast as he can manage inconspicuously, his hands clenching and unclenching tightly as he walks slamming his office door shut behind him and locking it tightly. Finally, he lets himself sink to the ground with a choked sob, still fighting back his tears even now that he's alone, burying his face in his knees and just trying to breathe…
