Today, August 2nd, game magazine Game Informer was revealed to be ending, suddenly. All who worked there appear to have been laid off in the middle of working on their next issue of the magazine. Their website is now just a landing page announcing the end of the magazine, eliminating access to the years of online content, some exclusive to the website.

There are various online efforts to preserve both the digital and physical work done by the many talented people who have been laid off.

so, this week, I loaded up AO3 and saw that i fear no fate (for you are my fate) had reached 400 kudos and over 9000 hits, and I'll be honest, on some level, I don't quite believe it.

I promise you I'm not normally this soppy, but when I published my first chapter, I expected maybe a handful of people to ever read it. this story and these characters, they're extra-special to me because they got me back to writing after a long (for me!) burnout, and they kept me writing during the darkest days. I truly can't express in words how grateful I am for everyone who decided to give my silly pair of dragons a chance. your support, your kind words, any jokes or rambles we share, your time whether you've read eight words or all eighty thousand (so far)—it all means so very much!! 💖💞💖

I'm gonna say-- [As Moonshine speaks, The Blows of a Friend, And Not a Foe plays.] Moonshine: Ulfgar. I command you to remember the happiest moment of your childhood. [Caldwell gasps and then laughs in delight.] Moonshine: Whether it be runnin-- runnin amok in the fields chasing a nannerfly, or eating a big ol' piece of gooseberry pie! I don't know what the happiest moment in your childhood was, but I command you to remember it. And remember why you went down the path that you went down. And if you still want to fight me, I will-- I will take your blows as a friend, and not a foe. Murph: Okay. Ulfgar goes back to swing, and, as the axe starts to get close to you, he just goes-- Ulfgar, yelling: Duck, dammit! Duck! Murph: Do you duck? Emily: [pause, then gently] no. Murph: Ol' Cobb, reaction, dives and catches you-- and throws you down. Emily: [yelling, distressed] NO--! NO! Jake: No he di-- He dove on top of you. He didn't take it. Murph: As Ulfgar swings, Ol' Cobb grabs you and you guys hit the deck. Ulfgar swings fuckin' baseball bat swing with his axe, but throws his axe away. [Emily sighs in relief.] And it goes and it hits into the mountain. Ulfgar drops to the ground and he starts clawing at his face, [Emily gasps.] and-- but you see that one of his eyes is back to normal, like he's got pupils again. And you see he goes-- Ulfgar, labored: She's. Manipulating me. She knows. How my bloodlust. If I'm near her. Or if I'm in battle. (desperately) I can't control myself. Moonshine: Hardwon, pilot this ship as far away from here as possible!
