A raven whispered on death's shoulder. Ash in its voice and black eyes shimmering with a message. 'New life. New bearer.'
Death furrowed her brows, the upper half of her face masked by a skull of bones. Jagged and sharp, a black hood casting the rest of her in shadows. "Are you sure?"
'Oh yes, exuberant this one.' The raven crowed, ruffling up its feathers.
Beatrice fought the urge to sigh. "For what I've learned, that's a common attribute."
The raven shook its head, which was more like a quick twitch of the neck to the left. 'Not like others. Life before.'
That made her turn, just enough to face the black bird. "She was human?"
'Yes yes, they've chosen someone with a name.'
She frowned. It bothered her, not because they had chosen someone who once was mortal but the fact that she didn't have an answer as to why. She thrived in the comfort of knowledge. She never wandered. Her steps had as much purpose as the souls she retrieved and the realm that came after. But this made her wonder. It made her want to stray away from the calculated path she'd created for herself to take a look at the new bearer.
Beatrice shook her head, and thus the slipping thought of straying away from her duty. She told herself it didn't matter. That lingering on it was foolish. "Let's hope they've chosen wisely then."
You would think that life and death would cross paths more often than the sun rose in the sky or the moon pulled the water to shore.
But Beatrice was like a shadow, her footsteps light and hands gentle as she swept them over a body to bring the soul to her realm.
Quiet and proficient.
She felt no need to linger in the world of the living.
The first time Beatrice saw life she was sitting on the side of the road, her yellow coat that dressed her like the sun itself casting a pleasant light on the otherwise dark city.
Rain poured down but didn't seem to bother her. Patterning against her cloak before trailing down and dropping to the ground. She was smiling, looking down as she talked to someone Beatrice couldn't see. For all she knew, she wasn't talking to anyone at all.
"Hello?"
Life whipped her head up and Beatrice couldn't help but stare at her eyes. Golden brown. She got this strong feeling that those alone were the inspiration for how fire wanted to behave. Wild and dancing. Certainly, unmistakably alive.
They flickered with something Beatrice couldn't depict. Then she tilted her head to the side, brown strands of hair slipping over her eyes as her smile widened. "We have been waiting for you."
Beatrice forced herself to look down. "We?"
"Yes, Blu just wanted to watch the rain for the last time."
She saw him then, the entire reason she was brought here in the first place. The cat's tail stuck out from under lifes cloak, slowly going back and forth. "He's a little nervous."
"There's no need. It's simply a pass between two realms." The answer was automatic.
"You make it sound so irrelevant."
"Excuse me?"
Life leaned down and moved her cloak slightly, revealing a tiny nose and ears that turned down in alarm. Its translucent body shimmering a soft blue. "It's a pretty big deal for him so it is for me too."
Beatrice pressed her lips together. She would certainly not regard it as irrelevant. But wasn't it that simple? Just something that was a part of life – or what came after.
"It's a big deal for you?"
Life nodded. "Of course it is! I mean, just look at them. Everything they have been through and what has shaped them to who they are."
"I don't see why that's important."
"Not important?" Life flung up and Beatrice couldn't help but take a step back when she began walking towards her. "Don't you speak to them? Don't you see how important this is because it is a part of their journey. It is nothing irrelevant." She stood close to her now, the cat tucked in her arms, watching her wearily. "Isn't it your job to make sure they feel safe while crossing over?"
She was staring at her now, those brown eyes boring into her and she had to consciously tell herself not to squirm. "I can assure you that they are safe with me."
To Beatrice's surprise, life shook her head at the answer. "Don't tell me that. Tell Blu."
Beatrice never really talked to the souls she needed to bring with her. There was no need to. Her job was only to make sure they crossed between the realms safely.
And she had certainly not learnt any name. She had always been told it was disadvantageous. A name was a connection. A connection to something she couldn't have. Couldn't savour. Because before she knew it, they were gone. She was the bridge, and bridges weren't meant for anyone to bide.
Her lips twitched, and she took her hand forward to sweep over the anxious cat. "It's not wise to form a connection with a soul. It will only Impede in what must be done."
Life watched as the cat's body slowly fragmented to what looked like small stars. Trailing around her hand and collecting in deaths folded hands.
Beatrice turned to leave.
"No way you really believe that."
She stopped, jaw tightening. "Look, I know you're new to this but you need to understand, this is our duty. Not a game."
"I don't think this is a fucking game, just," she threw her hand ups helplessly. "I don't know. I don't even know why they chose me."
She couldn't help but look her over then. The emotions etched in her face, more prominent than what should be considered acceptable. She looked too human. Still, Beatrice didn't correct her on it, couldn't help but be intrigued. Why did they choose her? "They must have had their reasons."
She jerked her shoulders up. "Maybe, for all I know it could be an acciden–"
"No, that's not possible." It came out sharper than she expected and life took a step away. Beatrice opened her mouth to apologise but stopped herself last second, instead turning away. "It doesn't matter now, I need to leave."
"Hey, wai-"
Beatrice closed her eyes. She was gone before life could finish her sentence. She sighed when she realised where she was. The darkness was familiar.
The raven crowed from where it sat. 'I told you.'
"Don't start it."
Yeah, this was going to be a problem.

Evil Forms
inspired by a conversation with @thecatghost111
Okay - so when influencer arc first came out, we all ended up noticing that everyone had an "evil" doppelganger/possessed form. Red and Herobrine Red, Yellow and Lucky Block Yellow, Green and Greenscreen, Second and Superpowered Second, Blue and Witch Blue.
In the AvA community, Ghost and @aannonn made some observations about how Greenscreen was the ultimate personification of Green's mistakes, flaws, and imperfections. (post in question)
Which got me thinking - all of them have some sort of connection with their evil form, don't they?
SPOILERS AHEAD
💖 ANALYSIS 💖
So for Green - Greenscreen represents the side of Green that the light of day won't see. Everything he thought we wouldn't like - everything he thought was too crappy to ever be witnessed in public - all coalesced together to create the chromatic aberration. That is what Green's battle against him signifies; the battle against himself and the battle against the imperfect parts of himself.
And this is why the ending is so fitting - him hugging Greenscreen. Him embracing his past mistakes, and deciding to upload them anyway. (as you can probably tell I'm pretty unwell about influencer arc as a whole but yeah.)
Next, Blue - Blue's doppelganger, Witch Blue, is the result of him giving into his temptation. As in, him going to get netherwart, and everything that followed. While we don't know the witch's true motivations with the whole ordeal, we do know that witch Blue is the consequence of Blue's fatal flaw - doing things without thinking, generally speaking.
Yellow - for Yellow, his possessed form was ALSO a result of him giving into his temptations - and his own fatal flaw, his curiosity, which can sometimes be a danger to him. He chose to take apart the lucky block, and to investigate it, simply because he was curious. As the saying goes, "Curiosity kills the cat".
For Second (his form isn't evil at all btw), his powers aren't really his fault. It's more c!Alan's, for giving him his name in the first place and therefore giving him his powers. However, that is also a connection established between the two forms. Second is a creator, and his powers bring life back. Second is a selfless titular character who watched his friends die twice, and his powers reflect that also.
And Red - I, honestly, don't have anything to say for him (I would love ideas though!). Herobrine's motivations for possessing Red are not explained so far, and Red really didn't do anything to warrant it in the first place. The whole thing seemed more like an accident, and I hope future content might explain why.
But, I mean, Ghost put it really well XD:

what's your favorite fic you've written so far?
Oohhh good question!! I have many favorites I’m proud of so I’ll give you a top 5. (And these are ones I’ve published!)
1. In My Head - when I was writing this I almost entered writer’s block and I didn’t think it was that good but now looking back on it, I’m so proud of this work. It used to be so hard for me to get in Ava’s head and I think this fic served as that turning point in making it easier for me because it was ultimately about how Ava operates.
2. The Lord Taketh Away - I don’t often write Barbara and she’s one of the characters I identify with the least so this was definitely a challenge. But I’d had this idea in my drafts for a few months before writing and posting and I wanted to write some kind of tribute to Barbara, and I was really happy with the characterization on this one.
3. Roaring 20s - I did literal months of research on this before writing it (I think this fic was in the research stage for at least 3 months) and I was really happy with how it turned out. I also just love a good period piece and I didn’t see many avanine ones (still not sure if there are any) so I decided to mix one of my favorite cultural time periods with one of my favorite ships.
4. Obsessed - I rarely write outsider POV (and I don’t know much about sports) so this one was difficult, but it was based on an idea that a friend and I had been talking about for ages so I decided to give it a try. It made me more sympathetic towards Iggy and understand him more (also it made me start thinking of him as a personification in a sense of Ava’s voice of reason, which at least in my fics is one reason why Ava is with him).
5. Are You My Mother? - some of you are familiar with my Vanetta theory but essentially I had a really tragic theory about Vanetta and her relationship to Janine and Ayesha that I really wanted to explore. It was one of my first fics in a while and I’m happy with how it turned out, especially considering that it put me out of my comfort zone.
Thank you so so much for the ask!!

This is a second Part to the Christmas themed trio this one being for @slaasherslut. Merry early holidays to you girly girl. I love both you and Teeth like sisters. 💋
Tumblr media
We return to our narrator, petting a small gray cat on her lap and sipping a mug of coffee. Pinstripe finally spots us. "Well. We'll leave Ellie and Vinny on their ride, let's check on Lester and Ava shall we?" She sets one book down on the table for another. "The human personification of a raccoon often brings things home that makes him think of his lovely lady. But what happens when he can't find anything for her for Christmas? Well, Lester is a rather gentle soul and the universe often has a way of paying forward for good selfless deeds. Let's see what it has in store for him…."
Lester had driven into town while Ava had been asleep on the couch with Jonesy. The brown eyed hunter just didn't have the heart to wake them up to take them into town and left a note instead.
'Ran into town for supplies. Text me when you wake up. Luv ya sweetpea!' -Lester
Getting into his car and warming up the cabin he took off on to the road and into town. The tree the pair had chopped down themselves and decorated was missing more tinsel and lights.
Six months and Ava had been his Angel. He was so lucky to have her in his life, he had taught her how to hunt, she sang him the most beautiful songs and made the most amazing love to each other. She was his lady. A lady he couldn't wait to spend Christmas with, but still hadn't come up with a present for her.
Snow started falling as he parked and hopped out heading inside to get what he needed.
Exiting the store he heard puppies crying in a box outside snow covering them as they howled and shivered. The wind was cold and bitter, they would surely die if he didn't do something.
"s'okay….I gotcha. Let's go find you guys someplace warm." He placed the box of hungry pups in the passenger's seat and looked around town. While at a stoplight, he tried to figure out what kind of puppies they wer
Lester lit up finding the cute coffee shop that Ava and the girls loved to frequent when they went into town together for a day. Lester brought the box inside, explained to the staff and was more than happy to take the pups off his hands and he sat down for a coffee keeping himself warm. His mind wandered back to the pups and how nice it would to have Jonesy be a big sister. Eyes wandering back to the box, he knelt down next to the basket the pups had been placed in and scooped the smallest one out gently, wrapping it up in his scarf to keep the little one warm.
Knowing he had done a good deed in helping the pups survive, the hunter headed home to his lady.
Lester drove and parked in his forest made pathway and made sure the puppy was okay the adorable blue eyed pup was asleep in Lester's arms as he went inside as the snow and wind picked up again. Christmas music drifted gently from Ava's Bluetooth speakers around the house.
He found she was still asleep with Jonesy. His heart melted at the fact that she loved his dog as much as he did.
The blonde guitarist snorted awake from the couch, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes feeling her lovers presence back in the cabin.
"This little sweetheart hitched a ride with me all the way home…"
The guitarist squealed, gently holding the tiny pup.
"What do we call him?"
Ava was tearing up. "Hank."
"That's a great name sweetpea." Lester kissed his girlfriends forehead and wipes away her tears. "Jonesy…..lookit, you got yourself a baby brother!" Jonesy took to the new pup and licked his head, the pup whining about needing food. Ava had gotten some of the leftover milk substitute from when Salem was a kitten. Lester watched as Ava fed the new puppy. She was gonna be a great mom one day.

Ava’s Battle: Chapter One
Just a few notes. 1, Ava is Kaiden's age. 2, This chapter skips around a lot. 3, After the skipping, we'll arrive at the end of Draekora.
This is fairly Bear X Reader, especially in the last few chapters.
I ship Stironnigan, but I also want Bear for myself. Sorry, Declan.
I DO NOT OWN THE MEDORAN CHRONICLES. I ONLY OWN AVA.
Alex spun around to hear voices echoing in the forest. A girl saw her and said, "Hey! What are you doing out here?" There were three people, two guys, and a girl. All three were beautiful.
The girl in the group was lightly tan and had short, boyish, and mousey brown hair. The girl had grey eyes and light purple lipstick. She had a butterfly wrist tattoo and was wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt, black sneakers, and had a ring dangling from a chain on her neck. Her leather jacket looked much like Alex's.
One of the guys had short blonde hair, lightish skin, and mischievous blue eyes.  He had on a t-shirt and jeans, nothing too special. What Alex noticed about him was his cocky grin. The other guy had dark shaggy hair and beautiful brown doe, but still mischievous, eyes. His skin was light, but tan. He also wore a t-shirt and jeans, but with the addition of a chain with a ring hanging from it.
"Who are you?" Alex asked, searching the group of three.
"I'm Jordan," said the blonde boy, pointing at himself, "and those two are Bear and Ava." Bear and Ava waved at Alex.
The gesture was so genuine Alex felt herself wave back. "And you're from?" Alex prompted.
"The Acadamy," Ava stated it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Where else?" Bear said, emphasizing the fact that he thought it obvious. Alex almost wilted with relief.
"Your turn," said Jordan, "same questions."
"I'm Alexandra Jennings, but you can call me Alex."
            ------------
"Are you aliens?" Alex asked. When the others burst out laughing, Alex frowned. "Different worlds."
"Sorry- sorry Alex," Ava said, struggling to stop laughing. "We're human, by the way."
"How can I understand you, then, if I'm in another world?" Alex asked, genuinely intrigued.
"Well, we can, soooo, let's just leave it at that," Ava said, shrugging.
"What about this school of yours? You mentioned something about Akarnae being a school for the gifted, what does that mean?" Alex asked. Bear motioned for Alex to look at Jordan, so she turned her head. He smirked, then disappeared.
Alex's mouth was wide open in shock. "HOW! I mean- what did you do?"
Jordan chuckled, and then replied, "It's my gift. Transcendence." Ava waved Alex's attention over to her. Suddenly, Ava changed into a dark-skinned beauty, with shocking red hair and brown eyes. She even changed clothes.
Then Ava sprouted green horns, and her skin started turning to light lime. Her legs became like a horse's, and her clothes became green and flowery. Her hair became braided ripples of baby blue hair, and her eyes became sunset orange.
When Ava spoke, her voice was like sweet water. "Tada. My gift is shapeshifting. I can turn into just about anything animate, but inanimate objects, not so much. If I become someone who already exists, I can use their gift. If they have one, that is," Ava shrugged and transformed back into herself.
"Bear, show her your gift," Ava said, turning to Bear.
Ava's Battle: A Medoran Chronicles Fanfiction.
"Princess Delucia," Ava said, nodding to the younger girl. "Please Ava, call me Delucia," Delucia Cavelle was a princess, however, and Ava, along with her two friends, Kaiden James and Declan Stirling, were determined to use her given title. They had, of course, all grown up around Princess Delucia, knowing her because of their parents high classes, and in Declan's case, high rankings.
"Kaid..." Ava said, drawing his name out. She had never been interested in him. She wasn't a lesbian, she liked men too, but Kaiden was more of a brother. So, she was asking him for advice on girls. He of course, was only about 14, but he still knew more than she did.
"What the he-" Ava was shellshocked, and moved away slowly. She closed Bear and Jordan's door and scurried back to her own. What were they making in there?
Ava held back her tears for as long as she could. But still, the waterworks flowed as she looked at her mother and father's remains, lying in a casket. "Hey, A, it's okay," Bear said, coming up behind her. Ava sobbed on her best friend's shoulder.
"Do it!" Bear yelled. Ava screeched as Jordan poured cold, ice water onto her head. "Jordan Sparker!" Ava yelled turning around to face her blonde friend. Then, she turned to face Bear. "Barnold Eustace Arthur Ronnigan! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!" "Please don't hurt me," Bear whimpered. Ava whipped out her comm TCD. "Worse, I'm calling your mother."
"Thank you for letting me stay here, Mrs. Ronnigan," Ava said, genuinely appreciative for her friend's loving mother. "Please, call me Dorothy," Bear's mother said, giving Ava a bright smile.
"Thank you, Dorothy," Ava said before she moaned in pain again. "It's alright, dear. I've had very bad menstrual cramps myself," Dorothy handed Ava a heating pad.
"Fletcher? Are you in here?" Ava called, looking for the kind doctor. "Over here, Ava," Fletcher called, and Ava was relieved to see a vial of pain medicine in his hand. "Do you need your painkillers for this week?" Ava nodded. "Have your cramps gotten better or worse since I put you on that medicine?" "Slightly better."
"Bear?" "Yeah, A?" "Can I tell you something?" Ava looked at Bear. "Tell away," Ava took a deep breath. "I- I'm bisexual,"  Bear looked at Ava. "So am I."
Ava looked at the girl who had seemingly come out of the forest. "The Acadamy."
Ava was worried. Really, really worried. Alex and D.C. hadn't come back from where they both had gone, of course, at different times and places. Ava shapeshifted into Hunter and focused on Alex. What she saw, shocked her.
Alex, Ava, and Bear all shared a look. Jordan and D.C. needed to be pushed together, in a most - romantic way.
"I... hate Karter!" Ava breathed out, as she doubled over after her Epsilon Combat Class. Kaiden and Declan shared a look with her. They both agreed.
"They need to get together already," Ava whispered to Bear, looking at both Alex and Kaiden, and Jordan and D.C. all chatting together. "Which pair?" He questioned. "Both."
Ava was excited to meet her younger classmates, so when she stepped out besides Kaiden and Skyla, she was excited to see Jordan and Alex in the group of newbies.
After getting them out of the ropes, Ava was so caught up in her own thoughts that she didn't notice Bear's lips on hers. When she did, though, she kissed him back.
"Pipsqeak!" Ava yelled, transforming into a large bird in order to swoop down to save Pipsqeak, who was falling at an alarming rate.
And as Ava saw Skyla's neck snap, she felt dread coursing through her veins.
"Medora to Ava..." Bear said, drawing out the a. "Hmm?" Ava said, coming back to reality after going back through her old memories.
"I asked you what you wanted to do. Dix is off doing something for Fletcher," Ava glared at Bear. "I'm supposed to be in SAS too, but since my uterus is currently having a meltdown, I can't really do much of anything." Ava said, grabbing another chocolate bar from her stash of candy Alex had brought back from Freya. Biting into a Hershey bar, she clutched her stomach.
"Time for another visit to Fletcher?" Bear said, tilting his head. Ava nodded. Limping slightly, Ava balenced herself on Bear's shoulder for the trip to the Med Ward. "I am so glad tomorrow is the last day of my period," Ava groaned. "Maybe you can get Alex to give you some Layendra when she goes to Meya next," Bear said.
"Hey Fletch, hey Dix," Ava said when she walked into the med ward. "What do you need, Ava?" Fletcher said, even though he was already grabbing pain medication. "Period," Ava said, before giving DC a hug.
After taking a large dose of pain killers, Ava could function normally again. "Let's just head to bed," Bear said, after much deliberation on both of their parts. "Sounds great."
Ava woke up to find herself being shaken awake by her roommate, Coraline. "'M up. Wha-" Before she could finish her sentence, Coraline spoke. "Come on, you'll be late for food," Ava shot up, instantly regretting it because of the shooting pain now coursing through her abdomen. Coraline handed her a vial of dark blue liquid. Ava took it, and nodded her thanks.
At the Food Court, Ava was shocked to see Jordan walking besides Alex. Bear seemed to have been struck speechless, Ava herself was tearing up, and DC had latched herself onto Jordan.
Ok, so, I've only listened to the books. If I'm getting the names wrong, go ahead and correct me.

Day 2: "Nobody warned you about me?" Prompt number: #2 –"Nobody warned you about me?" Fandom: Original Work (The Maiden Is Death)  Rating: PG-13 Pairing: Lunanera Rosano & Ava (Life) | Both are original characters Warnings/Tags: prompt mention of body horror imagery
Tumblr media
Though the personification of Death should put fear into Luna’s heart, he does not really do much for Luna other than make her arch a brow most of the time. To her, if anything, he is a funny guy she sold her child’s soul to and her life’s purpose to for the sake of a laugh. He’s not scary or what-the-fuck-ever the legends say.
Even when he is nothing but a skeleton or melted flesh, he’s simply Grim, the guy she tricked and who tricked her after she tricked him, and that’s about it. He’s nothing horrific or scary.
To be honest, anyone’s scary, it’s Luna.
Which is why, when the personification of Life is offended when Death sends Luna to send her a message, Luna is offended that Life is offended.
“Nobody warned you about me?” Luna asked, hands on her waist as she glared daggers at the creator of life herself.
The beautiful creator simply looked up in disbelief before letting out a dramatic sigh, “Oh Holy Maker. What have I done to receive such a joke?” she mumbled before looking back to Luna. “Of course not. You are nothing but flesh and bone. A mortal. What have I to worry about with you? What warning shall I need?” she asked.
“I killed an old God,” Luna said simply, shrugging, reading Life’s expression.
“Aspiration?” the woman asked.
“Yes.” Luna replied.
“Good for you. But that means nothing to me. What did Death send you for? To mock me?”
“He said…something about there eventually being a new Sunetta and about you needing to find new warriors.” Luna replied, rolling her eyes. Never knowing what Death was talking about.
“Tell him, I know this. Tell him to call me…there’s a reason cell-phones exist. I’m tired. You’re tired. He doesn’t have to send his little Maidens to show off that he has them,” she said. “Anyways. Do you want to talk and tell me all the things that are so annoying to you about him? I have lots of food and beverages?” She wiggled her brows at Luna. And since Luna wasn’t loyal at all to Death, she grinned and nodded. “Hell yeah.” And then she began to go on a tangent.

So, because Fatou’s season ends today and, as far as we know, Druck hasn’t been renewed yet, I want to go over the things I feel the team did well in this season and the things I hope they take with them when they sit down to write the next season (which I’m manifesting will be Ava’s).
I think that s5 and, perhaps to a bigger extent, s6, were the team’s attempt to address fan feedback for and criticisms of s3 and s4. So I have hopes that, after possibly the most scrutinized season of any Skams, they are still willing to read even more feedback and sit down once again to craft a couple more seasons (possibly even 3 or 4 more seasons!).
So, without further ado, things that were done well! (Do I have to add “in my opinion”? Do I??)
I liked that for both s5 and s6, the thorough-line for the season wasn’t made obvious or shared in a press release, but rather it was up to fans to connect the story threads for themselves.
I loved that the team sought to address one of the biggest criticisms of s3, that is, that Matteo was given so many symptoms of a mental illness, but it ultimately went unaddressed in the narrative. They did this by giving Nora a dissociative disorder, and Fatou dyscalculia. (Matteo has been headcanoned as being mentally ill and having a disability.) It allowed the teams to develop both fan theories into full-blown seasons and give each of them the importance they deserved.
I have said this already, but I really appreciate that the team chose misunderstood, misrepresented and underrepresented mental illnesses and disabilities. I feel like s5 and s6 will be referents for many years, because they really took the time to portray a dissociative disorder and dyscalculia in a down-to-earth, unhurried way that isn’t meant to shock and awe, but simply allow us to understand why and when Nora and Fatou will struggle. Druck got the viewers to anticipate when Nora and Fatou would struggle, and that’s the first step in being able to anticipate and accommodate the needs of the Noras and Fatous of the world. I really can’t overstate how important this is and what a difference it makes in a real, tangible way. These seasons aren’t meant to be enjoyed for voyeuristic reasons, but they will legitimately help people.
One of the biggest criticisms of s4 was that Amira and Sam didn’t connect as women of color. In fact, it seemed like in s4 Sam was treated as another white friend, when in s2 both she and Amira were the victims of Kiki’s racism. The team addressed this by giving us Ava and Fatou’s friendship, which I want to say might be the first friendship between main characters of color where their race is a substantial reason for their bond. (There are the Sanas with their Jamillas, but the Jamillas aren’t main characters, and then there are friendships like Jo and Megan and Zoya, or Imaan and Liv, or Luca and Yasmina, but iirc in every case their bond as women of color isn’t made explicit.)
Another criticism of s4 was the way Kiki turned into the world’s most understanding white friend offscreen. The team addressed this with the Ava and Mailin storyline, which I think was wonderfully and subtly set up in s5, then built on with the biology test leaked answers.
On the topic of race, I think a major criticism of s3 was that David’s ethnicity wasn’t acknowledged (to the point where a white actress was cast to play his sister gvhvhv). The team has made up for this with Josh (more in the s6 sm than in s5, but I still count it) and with Kieu My. Fatou and Kieu My bonded over being first/second gen children of immigrants, and in doing so, they acknowledged that these characters aren’t white and have different experiences than white Germans.
The first 6 episodes of this season were some of the finest writing in the Skams. The storylines all connected and built on each other. The motifs were just so good and beautiful and fitting. The themes were all clearly defined and easy to follow.
The tortoise plot was one of the most fun and imaginative storylines in any Skams, it connected Fatou and Ismail in a believable way. And not to rave about a fucking tortoise, but animals can be really uncooperative and that tortoise delivered every fucking clip. Druck has a reputation for being one of the most depressive versions of Skam, but the Maike/Burger plot was just plain fun.
I feel like some of the old gen’s instas were a bit self-indulgent. I’m thinking specifically of Matteo’s memes and how they they weren’t necessarily the kind of memes a gay dude born in 2001 would pick, but someone a decade older. I think this is much better done with new gen. Fatou’s memes reflect her age and her sexuality, and not just that, but Ava, Mailin, Kieu My, Josh, etc. all pick memes and even focus on different aspects of recent news, based on their gender, race, personalities, interests, etc.
I appreciate that the team found a way to fit a sex scene between Fatou and Kieu My to add to the small catalogue of wlw sex scenes on Skams (I’m including the scene in lovleg or we’d only have two lol). While I understood the reasons eskam opted not to include one, I thought there were ways to feature a sex scene that didn’t sexualize the actresses and didn’t require nudity. Cases in point: the lovleg scene, and this scene in Druck.
And it also needs to be said. This is the first original season with a main of color, and the third season overall (after Liv and Imane) where 10 episodes are given to a character of color and no one else. Of the three, it’s certainly the season that loved and respected its main the most. The bar is so low it’s in hell, but Druck did clear that bar!
With all that said, let’s talk about the things I would really want the team to address in following seasons:
The thing I most want them to fix might be small or unimportant for a lot of people, but I think it’s at the core of why the season has been unenjoyable or certain plot points haven’t come across the way the team wanted, for many people. I am talking about the overly expositional nature of the writing.  It appears as if the team approached the writing of the clips with the intention of hitting each beat as noted in their agreed upon outline, and absolutely nothing else was to be added. This is an issue both in s5 and s6. It’s just less noticeable in s5, because s5 is setting up stuff for Fatou’s season, and possibly even seasons that haven’t been written yet. The fact that absolutely every second counts makes for a stressful watching experience for me, because the narrative tension is always heightened. Whereas with Skam, the narrative tension would build throughout the clip. Take the Pride scene in Skam, for instance. The clip allows for Isak and Eskild to get increasingly more agitated as they butt heads. I feel like if this Druck team had done the Pride scene in s5 or s6, the clip would’ve started with both Isak and Eskild already on edge, and cut much of the dialogue that got them there.
On the topic of naturalistic dialogue, this season doesn’t have it. Here is an example from ep 10 clip 2, Wieder vereint/Reunited 11:37.
Fatou: I’ll get a certificate too and bring it over to you. And I checked it, I only have to change one course and my schedule will work.
Teacher: Miss Jallow, you are not the first one to come to me with an epiphany. We could fill entire school weeks with the lessons you missed. In addition, Doctor Steinberg told me about your, well… activities. You don’t have a lot of arguments on your side.
Fatou: But I’ve spoken to all of the teachers and they said they are okay with it.
Teacher: You seem to have friends among the teaching staff. Mrs Pavlovic put in a word for you. Okay then, do it and go before I change my mind. [translated by @kieu-tou! Thank you!]
Like. This is the bare bones version of a dialogue. This should be the first draft, not the final version. The coordinator goes from absolute no to yes, with just one line from Fatou. The coordinator gives reasons that would necessitate more than one sentence of counterargument, like Fatou’s absences and the Biology test leaked answers. The coordinator even says Fatou doesn’t have a lot of arguments on her side, and yet it takes Fatou one line to change her mind!
And of course we viewers don’t want or need a lot of time with the coordinator. And particularly at this point in the season, no one would enjoy a naturalistic dialogue with the coordinator of all people.  But my point is that this is an issue with the dialogue all this season (and last season as well, but this season has been more scrutinized), the reason I picked this example is because of how easy it is to see here.
Which brings us to the pacing of the clips, and specifically the Friday clips. Because the script goes straight to the information the team wants to convey to the viewers, skipping the build up to it, many Friday clips have fallen flat, felt abrupt, and have been, tbh, unsatisfying. Again, I had this issue in s5, but as that season went on, I felt like the team had a better grip on Friday clips. But then they did it again in the first Friday clip this season, and so I think this is something the writers really should work on. The first Friday clip in Isak’s season closes on Isak being sandwiched by Emma and Even on a bench, visually setting up the love triangle, or more accurately, the personifications of who Isak should want to hook up with and who he really wants. But in order to get there, we’re shown a good amount of info, from the way Vilde, Eva and Sana are handling Noora’s absence, to Chris and Kasper, Even hovering around Isak, Emma trying to impress Isak, Isak escaping and, like, draping himself on the walls because he’s so over it all. Isak playing a game on the bathroom to stall for time. The paper towel maneuver to immediately give us a sense of what a weirdo Even is. A conversation between Isak and Even that gives us some clues about Even’s shame, as well as establish interests in common (like weed), and this is all before Emma even joins them! Just think of all the stuff we learn about who Isak, Even, Emma, Eva, Vilde or Sana are as people, before we get to the point of the clip! Fatou’s season simply didn’t have that. Compare it with the first Friday clip of Fatou’s season where the cashqueens quickly talk about the leaked answers, one of the major storylines this season that only gets a couple lines, before Fatou says she doesn’t want to talk about school (Fatou’s struggles with school, another major storyline), and then we’re onto the point of the clip, which is that Kieu My likes girls too. AND FADE TO BLACK. When people say they want longer clips, what they mean isn’t artificially inflate the clip length or add more plot stuff. Just let us watch the characters interact with each other so that we get a feel for how they relate to each other. I know I wish we’d have gotten more of Ava and Fatou interacting with each other before things turned to shit, and Ava with the other girls, so that I know why they all like and value Ava so much. I wish we’d have gotten more of Kieu My talking to the cashqueens about, like, why she didn’t make use of the biology test answers, instead of getting it on a chat. Or food combos they don’t like. So it makes more sense that later on Kieu My actually thinks she and Fatou are friends.  And every line doesn’t have to count. In Skam España, the characters are constantly talking and not everything they ever talked about ended up being relevant. When one of the characters lied about her house undergoing renovations to hide the fact that she was poor, the characters joked about Italian marble and put on bad Italian accents and made that Italian hand gesture. None of this was important to the plot because those renovations weren’t real to begin with, but they made viewers feel like these were real friends joking around, instead of characters needing to hit every storyline beat in a clip.
I have this joke with my friends about Druck always going 🤪🤪 in the last third of every season, in which a season that was very tightly written and cohesive suddenly pulls something inexplicable and pretty much impossible to resolve in 1-3 episodes. Hanna’s season suddenly switching to Mia, Björn creeping on Mia in episode 9! of a total 10, David getting outed in episode 8 and then disappearing for a whole week, Amira’s season pivoting to Mia and Hanna. It has happened in every season except Nora’s, so I thought the team had learned its lesson, but then the forgotten date with Ava happened. To be clear. It really makes no sense that Nora would have hung out with Ava several times since Tuesday, and the topic of the cashqueens being officially introduced to Kieu My wouldn’t have come up. it’s just not realistic.gif I feel like at that point the writing for the rest of the reason became super contrived to keep Fatou miserable and apart from Kieu My and Ava to artificially delay the reunions until episode 9 and 10. Why add a cheating insinuation and the main checking her partner’s messages in episode 8 if you know you won’t be able to properly resolve it? Why make Kieu My mock Fatou’s “uhm” if it’s not going to be addressed in their reunion clip? Kieu My had taken the initiative for a lot of the relationship, so it’s okay for Fatou to take the initiative when it comes to making up. You don’t have to add things that can only be resolved through an expositional info dump. (Please no more exposition than it’s necessary! I think we’ve established that at this point lol.) In the case of Fatou’s season, this is even sadder because I feel like Kieu My’s intimacy issues could’ve been the reason to drive them apart for two weeks, rather than the Maya/uhm stuff. This could’ve also been resolved through Fatou and Kieu My explicitly negotiating their boundaries and how they want to be comforted and how they want to comfort each other, which I thought was the issue with Fatou rejecting Kieu My’s attempts to help while wanting physical touch, while Kieu My didn’t want to be touched but rather seen.
There are going to be many thinkpieces on why a myriad of stuff didn’t work for people, so I’m going to keep this simple and address one last thing. I think that choosing to focus on Nora’s mental illness and Fatou’s disability is a great choice that doesn’t complicate the themes too much, but Druck (and all the Skams, but I’m invested only in Druck succeeding at this point) still struggles with being intersectional. This is the major reason why the Ava/Mailin storyline ended not with a bang, but a whimper. There just wasn’t enough work done to connect Fatou’s struggles not just to her disability, but also to her race (and even her sexuality). I think that if people really want (and lbr, it’ll be mostly poc who will put in that effort and work), they can see how Fatou’s race affected the way other people and especially adults reacted to her, but this wasn’t made explicit. If Ava and Mailin are going to argue about racism all season, why not connect that with Karin firing Fatou from Aquarius? As it stands, Karin fired Fatou because of a disability neither of them knew Fatou has, and that was the resolution to that storyline. Why not make it explicit that the Physics teacher had preconceived ideas about Fatou because Fatou is black? Why wasn’t Fatou’s disability addressed in the meeting with the coordinator? Why didn’t Fatou express to Mailin that Fatou, too, had issues with how Mailin was acting wrt racism? It felt like, with the way the season was putting so much emphasis on racism, all these threads were going to be connected. In the end though, it almost felt as if only Ava is affected by racism (aside from Mailin mentioning Fatou in the last episode). It’s not like talking about how racism affects Fatou is going to make the topic redundant for Ava’s or Ismail’s season. As a light-skinned black lesbian with a disability, Fatou’s life is going to be impacted by racism in a different way than Ava’s will, as a dark-skinned black fat straight cis girl, or Ismail’s, as a Turkish-German possibly Muslim possibly non binary person. All these experiences are specific enough, and different enough, that they can be touched upon in different seasons without becoming redundant. The fact that Fatou’s season almost seemed to forget at times that she is a black lesbian, doesn’t bode well for Ava’s and Ismail’s season to acknowledge all their struggles.
The bottom line is that this season really was great and did a lot of good, and I feel like the writing just needs to be tweaked a bit for further seasons to be even better and more enjoyable overall. I am very pleasantly surprised by how the team took s1-s4 fan feedback to heart and worked to implement suggestions, and so I really trust them and hope they keep working on the show. It’d be a shame if Druck wasn’t renewed, with this team at the helm.

27 and I think I know the answer but 30
27) What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?
—A comment of AO3 from Journey Back To The South~
I think it took me like an hour to come up with a good reply and was fighting back tears. Having a made up character impact someone so hard is such an amazing feeling that is difficult to decribe. Especially in the way that I wanted, Ava’s (one of Muriel’s cousins) arch is one of the best ones I’ve even came up with and I am so proud how it turned out.
Tumblr media
Don’t mind me—I’m just sobbing again 🥲
30) Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst?
—I’d like to say angst.... but I find myself always ending up with such fucking fluff 😅
I’m the personification of mash potatoes, I’m thick, hardy, funny looking, buttery, soft, and oh so fucking fluffy 😭
Thanks for the asks!!! 🥰💕

If you still are doing fandom game, legends of tomorrow
Yes, I am still doing that! And thanks for playing! ;)
favorite character: Snart and Constantine, don't make me pick one
least favorite character: GARY. He is the personification of nails on a chalk board and deadass knowing what the opening of the current season brings from spoilers is the main reason I haven't started watching it like they're really going to make the worst character even worse, amazing
brOTP: Snart and Sara, Nate and Ray and OG!Zari
OTP: Snart/Barry, does that count for only having half of it being a Legend? xD Canon wise I suppose Sara/Ava though
OT3: Mick/Snart/Barry
NOTP: Constantine/Gary *shudders*
favorite storyline: season 1. They had a... clear goal, a clear purpose, there were rhyme and reason to things, Snart was still alive, they were still finding together as a team
least favorite storyline: Gary's possessed nipple
what I wish had happened but didn’t: BRINGING OG!ZARI BACK. Like. They are both played by the same actress so it's not like OG's actress wanted out and they recast? And in universe, they literally bring her back, just to make up some bullshit reason why it can only be one and why OG would sacrifice herself so I had to lose her again and they really contained one of the best characters on this show into a freaking amulet to be permanently replaced by an inferior version of herself, when again, both are played by the same actress? You could have also doubled down on the Zari and give us more Zaris??? Just keep both? It would have been amazing!
what happened that I wish hadn’t: Killing off Leonard? Permanently? Like? Why? No? Undo that shit? BOTH Martin and Mick got to fuck around in the timeline to create daughters for themselves, but we can't find a way to bring Leonard back? Bitch ass move

Petty Teen Drama 4 (Mallory finally got some sense knocked into him)
Plot: Mallory finally comes to his senses and apologizes to Ava.
The final installment of the “Petty Teen Drama” saga (lmao)
Kinda short, but I hope you all still like it :)
Camp had been nothing but hell for Mallory lately. His bullies back at school were nothing compared to the ones he’s endured almost all of summer, and he’s lost count of how many times Ella Cate had beaten him up to a pulp, and with much pleasure, as well as his visits to the infirmary shortly thereafter.
But worst of all was that he had lost almost all of his friends at Camp, only Una and Harper stuck around, and Gloria would only talk to him about how to not be a Nice Guy. All of this because of what happened between him and Ava several weeks ago, in which he had confessed to her his feelings for her, but only to be rejected and sent to the Friend Zone, as well as to discover that she had strong feelings for Jasper, who was the living personification of what every girl dreamed of in a guy: tall, handsome, played the guitar, and had The Hair. All of those traits in which Mallory desperately lacked in, and longed for so bad.
But even with all of that, after spending so much time at the infirmary with no one other than his two friends and Gloria, as well as his thoughts, Mallory came to the realization that he did, in fact, screw up. He knew he shouldn’t have called Ava a bitch (and a skank, and a whore), because she didn’t deserve it. Ava was the sweetest, loveliest, and kindest girl he had ever met, it was the very reason why he loved her in the first place, and even after getting rejected, he still stood by those facts. So he knew that he owed Ava an apology--big time--and he knew that he had to do it sooner or later, which honestly frightened him, but he knew it had to be done.
~
He found Ava at the dining pavilion, along with a few of her half-siblings. They were all laughing and chatting, while eating their lunch. Mallory gulped and felt his hands already sweating, but he kept moving forward. And as he approached their table, he saw her half-siblings change their expressions one by one the minute they laid eyes on him, until finally he reached Ava, who also had the same change of expression.
Mallory never felt more nervous in his life, not even when he confessed to Ava was he this nervous, but he managed to smile and wave at them. They didn’t reciprocate.
“U-Um, hi...uh...can I...talk to Ava….privately?” he asked, clearly afraid.
“Why?” asked Perrin (one of Ava’s half-siblings), giving him a very intimidating glare.
Mallory stammered for a while, constantly glancing to the side in order to avoid his glare as much as possible, while fumbling with his fingers and cracking his knuckles more than once.
“I...I want to apologize...for what I said…” Mallory finally said.
Everyone looked at him, surprised, then turned to Ava who also had the same expression. Perrin leaned closer to her, telling her that he could stay with her if she wanted, but she shook her head in denial, then faced Mallory.
“Okay.” she said. “Go ahead.”
Mallory waited for her half-siblings to leave, and they did one by one, each siblings giving him a death glare, and Perrin’s final glare shook him the most, but he tightened his fists and marched on over towards her, taking a seat across from her at the table.
Ava looked at Mallory, waiting for him to start. He cleared his throat.
“Ava, I know what I said was wrong--well, now I know, ‘cause at the time I thought I was right--b-but now I know that I was wrong! I was wrong for expecting that you’d correspond to my feelings, when clearly you didn’t owe that.
“And I was wrong for calling you names, that was...gross of me. I was angry, I was hurt, but...that’s not an excuse because you’re none of those things I said, in fact, you’re the opposite, you’re...you’re so sweet, and nice, and kind, and...you were my friend…
“I was so hung up on my own hurt, that I didn’t even stop to think that I was hurting you, my friend. And now not only did I lose the chance of being with you--which honestly was never there to begin with--but I lost the chance of being your friend again, which...honestly...matters a lot more to me than whether you have feelings for me or not.
“It took me a while to understand this, it took a lot of punches from Ella Cate, a lot of scolding from Una, and a lot of effort in re-educating me from Gloria, that what I did was...awful, and I’m so, so sorry. Really, I am.”
Mallory paused for a moment, observing Ava’s demeanor, wondering if she was going to lash out or walk away, but instead she remained seated, and looked as calm as ever. She was paying very close attention to him, and not once did she show any sign of disappointment or content.
Mallory cleared his throat once more, and continued to speak.
“I understand if you don’t forgive me, and I understand if you don’t want to be my friend anymore, but I felt like I needed to say this--well, actually, I felt like...I owed you this. So...yeah....”
Ava remained quiet while looking down at her folded hands, as though she was processing everything that Mallory had said, debating whether or not to forgive him. Mallory kept picking at his hands, trying so hard to contain his anxiousness. He didn’t know what to expect, what her reaction would be, or what she would say, but in the end he braced himself for the worst.
Finally, she looked up at him, and a smile slowly crept across her face.
“I’m glad you came to this realization.” she said.
Mallory swallowed, unsure what she would say next.
“Your words did hurt me,” she continued. “A lot, actually. It kept playing in my mind for weeks, and--overall, I guess I was just shocked that someone would do such a thing, especially someone that I considered a friend…
“But, I’m glad that you reflected on that, and found the strength within yourself to come and apologize, because most people wouldn’t. In fact, most people wouldn’t even stop to think whether they did something wrong to begin with, so...I’m glad that you did that.”
Mallory smiled. Even though he was still feeling a little wary, he was relieved that Ava took it so well, and he felt as though a big weight had lifted off of his shoulders, and for once since this whole thing started, he felt that he could finally breathe.
“Wow, um, I really wasn’t expecting this.” Mallory confessed, running a hand through his messy curly hair. “I thought you were gonna, like, lash out or something…”
“You’re trying, and that’s what’s important.”
Mallory nodded. “I guess I’ll see you around then?”
“Yeah.” Ava smiled.
And after wishing each other a good rest of their summer, they left the dining pavilion, each going their separate ways.

siblings: min-jun ‘ parker ’ brandt ( b. 1995 ) & georgia ‘ gigi ’ brandt ( b. 2001 )
significant others: chris harmon ( 2013-2015 ) / ava carrillo ( 2015-2016 )
her story so far (this is so long n serious lol)
soo-yun 'maxine' brandt was born and raised in new haven, connecticut, to jang soon-bok ( vivian ), a surgeon, and stephen brandt, a ( n allegedly shady ) criminal justice lawyer.
the brandt siblings were raised like any other blue-blooded, very strict but loving household ( strict = mom / loving = dad )
brandt house rules: get straight a’s, follow the 12 am curfew and don't bring anyone home that you know you’d get disowned for. follow those three rules, and you can do whatever you want.
there was pressure for the brandt siblings to be academically accomplished, but it wasn't anything they couldn't handle. they were well-tutored, semi-popular, attractive teenagers, which were common in new haven, and everyone knew they were destined for ivy league.
in high school, she dated chris harmon, and it was the kind of relationship that could only be described as the personification of a kinder egg. sweet on the outside, a waste of time and money on the inside.
which is fine; it took max about 2 months to get over it when they broke up halfway through senior year, because neither of them thought of their relationship going far. the joy of getting into yale ( already expected ) trumped the feeling of losing a boyfriend. she even bet parker $5,000 she'd get early admission. she won.
during college, she had an on-off relationship with ava carrillo for a year, which inevitably became a permanent off. it turned out that it wasn't a good idea to throw herself into a committed relationship the minute she stepped foot into yale. max never had the time, and ava didn't have the patience. at least she tried it tho !
things seemed to be on the up and up for their family, and the worst thing max has ever been through is being awake for 24 straight hours to prepare for a final presentation. but ! you know what they say about the calm before the storm.
( tw: death ) on december 18, 2018, their father unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack during a layover flight in new york. the brandt family was at home when they heard the news. needless to say, they had a quiet christmas and new year.
the family tried to move on as best they could, but the siblings knew their dad's death irreversibly changed their mom. they have a rocky relationship to begin with, the siblings always feeling like vivian never wanted to become a parent and only did so for their father. they have absolutely no mother-children bond, and it got worse when stephen died. being the older brother, parker took it upon himself to take care of vivian, balancing that with running the home stretch with his undergrad degree.
on the other hand, maxine still had a few years left at yale. no amount of therapy helped her cope with the loss of her father, the way her mother seemed to become a shell of herself, how parker had to break the momentum of his career to be there for their mom, and the constant pressure to do good academically.
( tw: alcohol dependency ) it started with buying bottled moscow mules because she didn't like how beer tasted, and she wasn't dumb enough to go straight to hard liquor. just one to take the edge off whenever stacks of coursework became too much, or when her mother would send her an email talking about her day, and she didn't have the courage to read it. then it went from a one, two, three-time thing to a whenever-i'm-upset thing, which slid into a whenever-i-feel-like-it thing. after a while, it became a daylight thing where she would add a splash of soju ( or whatever ) to her lunchtime drinks, and she genuinely thought it was just a funny idea at first. max wasn't the only day drinker in her social group, anyway. she found it acceptable, no different than how other people would pound red bull every 6 hours like it's their life force. it was manageable for her since she was able to schedule when she'd be indisposed, and she still can.
parker had ( and still has ) no clue. despite the two being close, max spared him the burden of having another thing to worry about. as long as she can control it ( or she thinks she can ) then nobody had anything to worry about.
eventually, both maxine and parker were offered the opportunity to join gallagher academy, with parker in line to graduate with honors in global affairs and maxine, not far behind with her own impressive academic portfolio in political science.
though really, her acceptance into gallagher has less to do with her published papers ( still impressive, tho ) and more to do with her covertly helping her father win cases by doing some expert sleuthing, strategizing, witness dispatching + discrediting, sexc breaking and entering, and good, old-fashioned manipulation !
it was something they both wanted; to be a part of the bigger picture in the world, but they knew they couldn't leave their mother alone. parker, who chose to make the sacrifice, let maxine go and stayed behind to take care of vivian.
( but if we’re honest, maxine would’ve left for gallagher regardless if parker was coming with her, but she’ll never tell him that )
despite the guilt and telling parker she wasn't going anywhere ( cough ), he insisted on her taking the once-in-a-lifetime chance to be a part of something they never knew existed. he knew they were going to end up resenting each other if they both stayed. at least one person in the family should be doing something that made them happy.
and so max dropped out of yale and left for roseville, even though she hadn't thoroughly planned out her career trajectory.
she’s eager not just because of the school, obviously. she can't handle going back to their childhood home and seeing how hollow everything is. plus, the immense anger and denial she feels over her dad’s untimely death has no place in new haven anymore.
she promised parker she'd make it up to him, though. somehow, someday.
who is this b*nch
max is relatively easy to get along with, tbh !
she’s a mood matcher; meaning if you’re nice to her, then she’s nice to you ( and if you’re gonna be a punk bitch, then she’ll be a punk bitch right back )
she’s a lil spoiled, lil sheltered, and lil ignorant but her general friendliness makes up for it, she’s the type to be friends with ( almost ) everyone
internally: perfectionist to the point of being ruthless, first place is the only acceptable place, meticulous, neurotic, workaholic, overachiever, if you’re not useful then what’s your purpose?, slightly egotistical, etc etc
externally: caring, protective, and supportive mom friend who just wants people to get their shit together because inadequacy is unacceptable, fixer, likes to dip into different social circles, consciously makes the effort to be more patient with people
she’s incredibly ambitious ? morally ambiguous ? slightly self-serving and self-involved ? her father’s a criminal “justice” lawyer whose clientele doesn’t exactly consist of the beacons of society so... she learned a lot of lessons about how you can win any case in the courtroom if you’re smart enough to a ) make a good story, b ) get the fitting evidence by any means necessary, c ) discredit and discard the necessary people, and d ) be charming and persuasive enough to rock the jury
she’s actively trying to be more open-minded and assimilate to a diverse group of people because back in yale she was definitely in a wasp bubble, and admittedly there are times where she will come off as super snobby without meaning to and tbh sorry about it
she’s still an extremely sociable person because yale also taught her how to network like a motherfucker, and how it’s important to know / be friends with everyone
honestly, intense people turn her off ( both positive and negative ) a little because she can't handle concentrated personalities in one sitting
even though she’s a little intense herself sometimes but it’s fine, we love hypocrites in this house !
neat freak ? but honestly who doesn’t like a friend who squeegees the shower every day and has a tiny can of lysol in their bag and an aroma diffuser with three ( 3 ) oil blends
she’s like... weirdly aggressive sometimes and most definitely has anger issues ( still in denial over her father unexpectedly passing away and getting stuck with a mom who doesn’t like her own children very much )
but also, she’s just agro in general and has a number of physical hobbies. she’s an ice skater, equestrian, a soulcyclist, and a kickboxer. she can fite.
she’s not the type to make fun of herself because she's not at a point where she sees qualities in her that are okay to laugh at ( unless you’re tight )
keeps her negative juju to herself because she’s a very private person
will prioritize work over play because she'd hardwired like that, but that doesn't mean she's anti-fun ( clearly )
definitely needs to loosen up a little that doesn't involve alcohol... jenga perhaps ? or actually try therapy again ?
very effectively sneaky about her growing alcohol dependency ( sugar-free breath mints, brushes her teeth + uses mouthwash after every meal )
dry sense of humor
at all times: wears a 1-carat, emerald cut, pavé diamond ring ( family heirloom ) + carries her trusty black hydro flask with her ( 24 oz. ) and no one is allowed to drink from it !
her signature scent is le labo bergamote 22 🤍
hmu on my discord @ tin#0697 for plottage !

Come Into the Water (5/15)
Ava les go of Sarah’s leg rather quickly in favor of interlacing their fingers and swimming to the North, up the coast, pulling Sarah along effortlessly and helping her keep her head above water although her own keeps going down to breathe easier through the gills on the side of her neck. Although they’re only moving for a few minutes, maximum, it feels a lot longer. Salt slaps at Sarah’s cheeks, tangles her hair. Fish brush against her legs. Seaweed tangles her ankles. But it’s good, it’s freeing. She feels more alive than she has in a long time, simply coming along wherever Ava’s taking her.
They wind up in a little inlet carved into the side of one of the cliffs, several feet deep, but sheltered from the worst of the waves and weathered smooth over time. It feels like a little home, which is must be because Ava dives down and comes back up with a little pouch woven of seaweed, which she opens to reveal a collection of beautiful iridescent shells, the likes of which Sarah has never seen. They’re almost like pearls pressed flat, and their opposite sides are blue and brown and black, mimicries of the ocean from which they came. Beautiful, she thinks, and stares reverently as Ava holds the pouch open.
“As a thank you,” Ava says, and presses the pouch into Sarah’s hands, meaning she has to work harder to tread water with her legs and stay afloat. “I would have died, if you didn’t help me.”
Sarah’s inclined to ask about the pod, why none of them would help, but some things should not be asked, only heard when the time is right. She knows she’d be unable to talk about her own trauma right now to someone she’s only just met, and it’s only reasonable to wait for Ava to say things in her own time.
And when her legs start to tire, muscles burning, she doesn’t have to say a word before Ava slides one arm under her legs, right at the crook of her knees, and loops the other around her back. The weight of holding herself up vanishes immediately. Sarah is, for the first time in as long as she can remember, being held. It doesn’t seem to strain Ava, either, who starts floating aimlessly on top of foamy waves with Sarah in her grasp, oblivious or uncaring in regards to how close they are.
The farther they drift from the coast, the more alive the ocean becomes around them. The fish are teeming and visible, darting around them, and the dolphins she saw earlier are now almost close enough to touch- and they’re much bigger than Sarah could have ever thought. She wants to reach out and skim a hand across the sleek surface of their skin, but settles for just holding the seaweed pouch delicately in her palms and letting Ava hold her afloat amid waves.
There’s something restless about the ocean, and a matching comfort to said restlessness which gives her a strange sense of peace. It’s hard to feel like a personification of chaos in the middle of the choppy waters. Above them, the light clouds part ever so slightly in a warm splash of sun, not burning the way it often is elsewhere, but rather soothing and comforting. Like curling up in soft sheets on a cool summer morning, feeling loved and safe, without a single concrete worry in the world to taint sweet smiles. The sun is natural as it bathes her, and sets Ava aglow.
As her tail moves to keep them afloat, the sun reflects off it at various angles in a dazzling show of blue and gold and silver, pretty things like within a treasury instead of here. Here, on Ava, whose arms show off wiry muscle with the effort of holding Sarah up and close. She wants to trace the swell and curve of those muscles, same as she wants to touch the sharp angle of Ava’s jawline, stroke her scales, press her thumb against rosy lips, touch faintly scarred skin stretching in patterns across her bare upper body. There are a good number of them, mostly faded to pale white-pinks although some retain a grey-purple hue with how badly she was hurt. The curiosity burns in again, but Sarah knows it isn’t her place to ask.
“You’re new here?” Ava asks suddenly.
“Hmm?”
“You’re new here? I have never seen you, before yesterday.”
“Oh.” Sarah recalls yesterday again. The way it felt to be kissed. Someone she barely knows, someone so radiant, kissed her. “Yeah, I only moved in a couple of days ago. But I’m here to stay, so…”
She isn’t entirely sure why she says that last part; she doesn’t plan to stay here for very long, just until she’s well enough to go back to school. It feels like the right thing to say, though, the sort of implication of permanence she’s never quite been able to grasp. Everything has existed in a state of “for now” her whole life, and it’s strange to say, let alone consider being here for an extended amount of time.
But nonetheless, Ava smiles when she says it and kisses Sarah again, just as suddenly, although this one lands on her cheek and leaves a brand that she will be feeling for the rest of the day, if not her entire life.
“This is a good place. It’s nice,” Ava replies, although her voice sounds a bit thin, as though it’s passing through layers of filters before exiting her mouth.
“Yeah, my neighbors are great.”
Sarah means to say more, but then she catches sight of a large wave cresting not too far out from them. She starts to say a warning, but before she can, it’s turning at the top, about to crash over them, and there isn’t time. Between one moment and the next, she tightens her hold at the top of the pouch, throws an arm around Ava’s shoulders, and desperately tries not to inhale water or open her eyes into the salt. The world spins around her, out of control, and she doesn’t know which way is up for what feels like an hour. But it can’t be long, because her lungs are only beginning to burn when her head breaks water all over again and she’s staring at Ava all over again and she realizes that she wasn’t even scared, which is, in of itself, terrifying. She feels safe in Ava’s arms, who she’s known one day and who lives in the water and who she knows nothing about.
“I’ll take you back,” Ava says gently, adjusting Sarah’s body with ease so that she’s straddling Ava’s hips, right above where she melts into scales, ankles interlocked and their faces inches apart. One slender hand raises to cup Sarah’s face, brush soaked curls out of the way, brush the skin under her eye with reverence. “I’ll see you again?”
The only thing Sarah is capable of is nodding and relaxing into Ava’s safe grip as they swim back to shore, not fast or slow, but simply going, aided by smaller waves which propel them back to what turns into the tidepools. Far away, Sarah can see her sweatpants waiting, and even further in the distance, she’s able to make out her house, simple and sterile and not entirely her home so much as a place where she rests her head at night, not even on a pillow.
“You’ll see me again,” she answers as Ava helps her climb back up on the rocks before vanishing with nothing but a flick of her tail.
It feels awkward walking all the way back, picking up her damp sweatpants, and walking home half-naked and soaking wet, clutching what looks like a wad of seaweed to anyone else. She should be self conscious about it, but instead, she can only think about Ava’s smile and touch. It felt right. Perfect.
As Sarah pushes herself in the front door, she’s still remembering the way Ava’s hands felt on her. Their ghosts trace against her hips as she sets the seaweed and shells on her counter, tosses her sweatpants with the dirty clothes she changed out of last night, and heads straight to her shower. She had the presence of mind earlier to put her bag of toiletries on the counter, but they barely get a second gland before she gets into the shower, grabs the detachable head, and lays down in the tub, and turns on the water, warm but not too hot. She doesn’t want to see herself, touch herself, but she wants something good, something which has her thinking about the cords of Ava’s muscles and the way she bites her bottom lip. Pointedly, Sarah does not think about her chest, but rather anything else she can imagine. It’s less real that way.
She takes care of herself and then, lying breathless as the water sprays her thighs harmlessly and still wearing her soaked shirt and boxers, she wonders if the reason she said she’s here to stay is because she’s supposed to. But the thought is too much for right now, and Sarah simply peels her clothes off and fumbles at the far counter for her shampoo.

POPGOES Meatloaf #1 - Gijinkas for fun: Stone
Everyone who’s ever played POPGOES knows about Stone the Crow.
Tumblr media
from {here}
But have you heard of gijinkas?
“Gijinka” is Japanese for personification, or literally “humanisations”, which is a popular subgenre of art where animals and objects are reimagined as humans. Here in this case, I went on a little passion project imagining what Stone The Crow would look like as a human.
The premise was that since the original FNaF series to me had a carnival/circus theme going on, hence I imagine Stone’s costume to be quite costumey, and best have it to reflect a crow with feathers. I was inspired by tengus in Japanese culture, and even though in the final design, the design looks nothing like a tengu, I did take elements from it such as having “ribbons” dangling from the sleeves to represent wings, and having black feathery hair, reminiscent of crow’s feathers.
But here is the first design to just get the concept out.
Tumblr media
(Crows are also thought to be mysterious so I hope that human!Stone gives off that vibe)
Furthermore, inspired from the aesthetic of Ava’s Demon, I made some little character illustrations for the Popgoes characters in human form. This is the process, as well as the final product! (this one is Stone’s!)
Tumblr media
Final Product:
Tumblr media
I also recommend using it for a phone background:
