Ratchet and Rodimus are Friends?

It’s interesting. There’s a conversation that took place in volume eight of More Than Meets the Eye that caught me a bit by surprise. Some of y’all are prolly way ahead of me on this and it was super obvious to y'all but I wanna talk about it anyways.

Before Ratchet leaves to find Drift he does a checkup on a selection of mechs because, he claims, of the possibility of them being infected by super scraplets.

He checks up on

Rung

Skids

Nautica

Ultra Magnus

And most interestingly: RODIMUS

He proceeds to call Rodimus out on how he treated Drift.

(Also Ratchet defending Drift is very sweet.)

Not going to lie, I thought Ratchet didn’t particularly like Rodimus. Or he just tolerated him. And based on some fan content I’ve seen, I don’t think I was alone in that. This above conversation could potentially even support that theory. That is until First Aid comes in and calls Ratchet out.

And then First Aid drops this juicy tidbit

Note the word “ALL”. Meaning Roddy wasn’t an exception compared to the others. Roddy IS Ratchet’s friend. It could be a recent development or it could be longer term, either way at this point in time they are friends to one another. This means that Ratchet is one of those friends who will be the first to call you out when you're being an ass and I really love that for him. The friend who tells you what everyone else is too hesitant to say.

With this knowledge, looking back it really makes the scene where Ratchet tells Roddy that he voted against him keeping his position of captain all that more impactful in my opinion.

Looking back there's probably a ton of things that hinted at a friendship between them. Like the fact Roddy chose to confide in Ratchet (if I'm remembering this correctly) about the list to get his opinion. That shows a certain value Rodimus holds of Ratchet's opinion.

Anyways I just thought that was neat. And I totally didn't pick up on the fact they were friends until this scene smacked me in the face.

Saw Transformers: The Rise of the Beasts and gotta say, it was a very very fun movie. Highly recommend.

It got me laughing real hard multiple times. The designs are very nice. Ngl its probably my favourite Transformers movie we've gotten so far.

It was neat to see Optimus acting in a sort of less experienced/younger role than he usually gets. Big brother Optimus was v fun.

I loved Mirage he's very fun. And his abilities are super rad to see on screen.

I wasn't the biggest fan of how they designed Wheeljack's face but considering I like most of the other character designs, a single miss isn't a big deal to me. It didn't take away from my enjoyment of the movie at all and as a character he wasn't bad.

I want to yell about some of the stuff I loved in the middle to the end of the movie but I'm going to hold out a bit because I don't want to spoil anything. Once it's out of theatres I'll talk about it more. (Ill make sure to put it in a readmore with spoiler warnings tho. Don't worry you wont get accidentally spoiled if you still haven't seen after it comes out )

Thinking about TFP again and the fact that the whole Optimus getting the StarSaber thing was only major threat for two whole seconds in TfP because Megatron was like "YEAH?? WELL I MADE THE EVIL and betterer version of your sword" is so fucking hilarious to me.

Don't take this as a super serious critique. I'm not actually mad about it. I find it hilarious.

Narratively it's so bad 😂. The autobots finally get an advantage. They totally could have played with this and make Megatron scramble against the autobots for a bit instead of the Autobots constantly losing. Would have made for a new avenue to explore and make the autobots feel like a genuine threat.

But seeing it happen on screen like two kids playing pretend and being like "I'm a tiger" "well I'm a bigger stronger tiger so THERE" is really funny. 😂

I cackled so hard at that it's so funny how Megatron has an "Oh shit I'm fucked" moment until two minutes later he gets the plot forge.

AND LIKE THERES SO MANY MORE INTERESTING WAYS for Megatron to counter it without just making a copy of the StarSaber.

Also like?? Doesn't the forge of Solus Prime being able to make another prime exclusive relic that's just as powerful kinda make every other supposedly "one of a kind" relic kinda lose it's impact and value? The forge of Solus Prime is OP and it's hilarious. Unless the lore says she made all the primely artefacts in the first place in which case ignore me. But I really thought Primus made them? Idk man Dhdbsj. Even if Solus DID make the og items, the conflict could have been resolved way better.

Anyways rnxdjejd. TfP is a very pretty show and there's a lot I like about it. But man it also really misses the mark in major ways sometimes 😂 esp with the poor follow through of some neat ideas it sets up. (esp the last season oof).

Tarantulas got a glow up in Earthspark. I love how alien he looks. And I love the Doc Ock movements. 👌

As soon as the toy is released I'm yoinking him.

I didn't expect him to be so chill or potentially a good guy but I love it. The world needs more spooky looking good guy characters.

Also the weird green lip things he has in Beast Wars is very much not my favourite so I'm glad he lost them and got a dope alt mode upgrade.

Please consider Transformers with those glowy fiber optic lamp fibers

Aka these bad boys:

CONSIDER

A velociraptor alt covered in these fibers

Minimus ambus with a moustache that can glow.

Massive fiber optic manes

Bots with a glowing mohawk or other hairstyles

Wrist/ankle floofs like those draft horses have

Using these lights to communicate silently

Useful whisker-like ones for small bots like Ravage and/or spies/covert bots who need to hide and crawl in small spaces to feel their environment and gauge whether they can fit in the spaces. Maybe even help slightly lighten up dark spaces.

When Cybertron isn't at war, there are many cybertronians who performed in some way (dancing, concerts, etc) that would outfit themselves with these cables which they would then use (glowing on and off, glowing different colours for different effects, fluffing them out and pulling them in from their body, etc) in their performance choreography.
