 In maximum cases, a person falls unconscious so first check to see if the person is breathing and has a pulse or not. 
 After inspecting if you cannot feel a pulse and the person is not breathing, call for emergency help. If there are other people present, one person should call 911 while there other prepares the AED. Before using a defibrillator make sure that you should call emergency services first.
 Turn the person towards your side first and then turn on the AED. The defibrillator is a fully automated machine and it will give you step by step instructions explaining how to check breathing and pulse and how to place electrode pads on the person's chest.
 Gradually deliver the shock, when you place AED pads on the person's chest it automatically measures the person's heart rhythm and determines if a shock is needed. And if it is required then machines tell the user to stand back and push a button to transfer a shock. AED is designed in a way that it does not deliver a shock if a shock isn't needed.
 You can deliver CPR after the shock but if CPR is still needed. The major benefit of a Defibrillator is it will guide you in the process of CPR as well.
