So what exactly is Dark Willow?

Is she a vengeance demon but just one not under D’Hoffryn’s control? Because like,… she’d have to be some sort of supernatural entity other than a witch to withstand all the magical power she absorbs into her body. It would have killed her otherwise, right? I’m so curious. Witches aren’t necessarily supernatural. They have supernatural ability obviously but they’re still 100% human. Not demon like how Tara’s family believed her to be based only on the fact she could do magic. I mean that was a manipulation tactic to keep Tara under Mr. Maclay’s control but still… there’s the jumping to conclusions that a witch is something other than human, or even something evil, when that’s not always the case.

It seems like Dark Willow is just the human embodiment of dark or black magic itself but I still think she’d have to be some supernatural (whether demonic or not) entity to withstand the amount of power she sucks into herself. And she does retain the ability to do that even if she’s just Willow.

So it’s an interesting subject to explore regarding Willow and Anya’s relationship. Is she more than human? Is she more than mortal? What is this something more that she is if she isn’t ‘just Willow’ when she’s Dark Willow?
