[ad_1] GG News Bureau New Delhi, 19th Oct. Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain walked out of Tihar Jail on Friday evening, after being granted bail by a Delhi court citing delays in the trial and his lengthy detention. In his first public remarks, the former Delhi minister claimed that his arrest was aimed at halting key initiatives of the AAP government, such as the Mohalla Clinics and the Yamuna river cleaning project. Jain, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in March 2022 on money laundering charges, accused the central government of targeting AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh, to discourage common citizens from entering politics. “My arrest was part of a deliberate effort to defame Arvind Kejriwal, who tirelessly works to ensure the government serves the common man, not a select few,” he told AAP workers and supporters gathered outside the jail. Addressing the crowd, Jain stated, “I was arrested to stop Arvind Kejriwal’s work like building Mohalla Clinics, constructing the highest number of hospital beds in the world in Delhi, and working on cleaning the Yamuna. But we will continue our fight against injustice and work for the common man.” He further vowed that AAP would persist in its efforts and showcase its capabilities to the world. Following his release, Jain met AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal at his residence on Firozshah Road, where he received a warm welcome from Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, party leader Manish Sisodia, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, and other leaders. Jain shared a light-hearted moment with Atishi, who holds a degree from Harvard, quipping, “Atishi ji, you will also have to go to jail, but we will continue to fight against injustice.” Jain underscored Kejriwal’s commitment to transparency and his fight against corruption, cautioning AAP workers to be prepared for challenges, including imprisonment, as they work towards the party’s mission of serving the masses. He expressed gratitude for the support he received during his 873 days in jail, hugging Sisodia and Singh as he stepped out of the prison. The AAP, in an official statement, reiterated that Jain’s release marks a continuation of their struggle against what they describe as political vendetta, and vowed to remain steadfast in their mission to serve the common people. Atishi Claims BJP Switch Offer, Says These AAP Leaders To Be Arrested Soon
Four more senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are set to be arrested over the next two months, Delhi minister Atishi alleged today, accusing the BJP of using central agencies in its attempt to crush AAP. The ruling party, she alleged, plans to arrest her, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP MP Raghav Chadha and party MLA Durgesh Pathak.
Tumblr media
"The BJP has approached me through someone very close. They have asked me to join the BJP and said this will save my political career. They have threatened that if I don't switch over, ED (Enforcement Directorate) will arrest me within a month," she told the media.
She said the person who approached her on behalf of the BJP had said that the ruling party had "made up its mind on crushing everyone in AAP".
"First, they put everyone in AAP's leadership in jail. Satyendra Jain, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and now Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have been arrested. The BJP's plan is to arrest four more AAP leaders in the next two months. They will arrest me, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak and Raghav Chadha," she said.
The BJP, Ms Atishi said, had thought that the party would splinter after Arvind Kejriwal's arrest. "But after the rally in Ramlila Maidan Sunday, the BJP thinks the arrest of four leaders was not enough," she said.
The Delhi minister claimed that she had received information that ED may raid her and her relatives' homes in the coming days. "We are Arvind Kejriwal's soldiers, we won't be cowed down by BJP's threats."
Ms Atishi referred to the ED's submission in court that Mr Kejriwal had said AAP's former communication boss Vijay Nair reported to her and Mr Bharadwaj.
"This information is already in ED's and CBI's chargesheets. It is possible that ED took our names so that they proceed on arresting the second line of AAP leadership," she said.
The BJP described the AAP leader's allegations as "baseless". Party leader RP Singh said, "I too can say that Saurabh Bharadwaj called me up and requested me to protect them from Arvind Kejriwal who wants to put them behind bars and make Sunita Kejriwal the Chief Minister. This is their internal tussle, which is coming out again and again in different forms."
"The truth is that action will be taken against all whose names are involved in the matter. It is clear that the fight for the CM post has begun in AAP. Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi are on one side and Sunita Kejriwal and Arvind Kejriwal are on the other," he alleged, according to news agency ANI.
Ms Atishi's allegations and the BJP's counter are the latest in the heated exchanges between AAP and BJP leaders in the wake of Mr Kejriwal's arrest in a money laundering related to Delhi's now-scrapped liquor policy. The Chief Minister has been remanded in judicial custody till April 15 and moved to Delhi's Tihar jail. The ED has said he is not cooperating in the probe.

Delhi ministers raise alarm of ED raid at Kejriwal’s residence followed by CM’s arrest
Two Delhi top ministers, Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj on Wednesday night claimed that they have got inside information that ED will raid New Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Thursday Morning and then the CM would be arrested. "News coming in that ED is going to raid @ArvindKejriwal’s residence tmrw morning. Arrest likely," Atishi tweeted at 11.50 pm on Wednesday.
The tweet from Atishi was followed by a post from Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj. "Got to know ED will be reaching Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's house tomorrow morning and is likely to arrest him," Saurabh posted in Hindi.
The claims were made by the ministers after the Chief Minister skipped the ED summons concerning the alleged liquor scam. Kejriwal claimed these summonses to be illegal and did not respond to them. This behavior triggered a sharp response from the BJP.
"What is Arvind Kejriwal scared of? Has he abandoned Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, who continue to be in jail in the Liquor Excise scam. Kejriwal, Instead of skipping ED summons, should take lessons in corruption for I.N.D.I Alliance leaders, who can also enrich themselves with his experience…" read a tweet from BJP who questioned why Arvind was not moving to the court if he presumes that the summons from the ED is illegal.
Previously, Kejriwal skipped two summonses from the ED quoting his administrative duties. The first summon came on November 2 and the second one on December 21. For the latter, Kejriwal sent a written response to the ED stating that he is busy with the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections and cannot come.
"Being the Chief Minister of Delhi, I am also quite occupied in planning and preparations for several programs and functions for the Republic Day i.e., 26th January 2024," Kejriwal wrote in his latest reply to the ED summons.

New Delhi (CNN) - India’s capital territory of Delhi sweltered to its highest-ever temperature of 49.9 degrees Celsius (121.8 degrees Fahrenheit) on Tuesday, as an oppressive heat wave forced authorities to impose water rationing.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said the new record was measured in the suburb of Mungeshpur, surpassing Delhi’s previous high of 49.2 degrees Celsius (120.5 degrees Fahrenheit), observed in May 2022.
Some areas of Delhi are struggling to access water, while others have none at all, said Atishi Marlena Singh, a senior minister in the Delhi government, at a news conference.
Areas that normally receive water supplies twice a day will now have their delivery cut to once a day to redirect resources to areas that have had little to no supply at all, Singh said.
The water shortages were caused by the “acute heatwave,” as well as a lack of water deliveries from the northern state of Haryana to Delhi, which are not being made as usual, Singh said.
Delhi was not alone, as the mercury spiked across northwestern India. The temperature in the city of Churu in the state of Rajasthan soared to 50.5 degrees Celsius (122.9 degrees Fahrenheit). Sirsa, a city in the state of Haryana, saw thermometers reach 50.3 degrees Celsius (122.5 degrees Fahrenheit), Indian authorities said.
