I’m assuming we’re talking about their listeners giving them a hug so here we go.

Emile: Ace?? Hugging them?? They be standing there awkwardly acting like they don’t know what a hug is. 100% going to be worried about them.

Rowan: Big hug, she is mom she’s best at the hugs 🥰

Beatrix: Picking them up, spinning them, lost’s are feet dangling like a cat being held up. Turns into goofy roughhousing.

Avyanna: Takes it as a threat and either flips majesty or is thinking of stabbing them.

Athena: Awkward pt2, does not know what to do. Might start crying.

Amanda: awkward pt2.5 (sort of awkward but does not know how to return physical affection) Returns it with a quick side hug and pats their shoulder

Sybil: Hugging chorus right back but is going to make them explain.

ur ocs hobbies???

This is such a good developmental question for characters, I’m gonna answer it in conjunction to your other ask. “What makes your ocs happy” Luckily I already know the answers for most of them 💀

Athena: She likes to tinker and make small gadgets when she’s not doing that she’s in the gardens when she can be. When Amanda’s students and her mechanical critters get along she is likely internally melting about how cute that is.

Amanda: She maintains a lot of friendships outside of Highbrooke and writes a lot of letters. She walks them to town and offers extra help to her students when she can. A lot of things make her happy but seeing Drew is one of her favorite things.

Avyanna: She spends a lot of time researching and exploring. (She’d never admit it but her favorite thing is making cloud art when she flies)

Rowan: Gardening she loves finding wildflowers to decorate her home, she’s living my cottagecore dream 😭. She loves when Mariah comes home to visit her, she loves her spouse/wife.

Beatrix: She makes traps, carves arrows, and exploring. As to what makes her happy, meeting other lamia, meeting people who like her awful puns, and making friends with strangers.

Mariah: She runs a ship- they doesn’t have much time for hobbies, but one thing I will say is she’s always fascinated by their crew’s drunken stories they seem to pull out of nowhere. Despite traveling with them for 5 years they still manage to surprise them. As for what makes her happy? Seeing her crew leave for better things, and the times she can go home even better.

Drew: She crochets, and draws while she’s traveling. But when she’s at home GARDENING ALL THE WAY. While she’s traveling she researches flowers and fauna that bloom at night so she can actually enjoy them. Grandma behavior.

Ellis: Story telling, they tell stories to kids and crowds in the city they happen to be in. It’s therapeutic for them. Feeling some sort of connection is important to them especially after meeting adventurer, their “normal” they become increasingly aware it was unsustainable.

Emile: The closest thing they have to a hobby is singing. They love it, the way they could be so dramatic and unapologetically themselves was an absolute head rush. The thing that makes them happy is finding their audience, their audience that matches their energy and feels safe enough to let even the ones lingering on the wings join in.

Pt1 here <- The Turning Process

Now, these beings come in all sorts of forms but I have noticed that within the species there is a distinct spectrum that tend to manifest in their facial features; shape of teeth, ears, and, in some circumstances their eyes.

In the spectrum of Vampires you may have the ability to encounter, there are three main ways to distinctly categorize them (mostly) reliably.

Chapter 1: Teeth

Pure blooded vampire teeth have one set of canines that are simply sharpened and longer. In an important distinction to elves that already possess sharper canines, a pure blooded vampire’s teeth can retreat or descend. Their fangs act like straws that funnel their source of nutrients through the skull directly to their bloodstream and down to their Carotid Arteries. The brains of Pure bloods have adapted to digest their food source in house. This allows Pure bloods a distinct advantage to feed less as nutrients is developed more efficiently as well as provides a surge of energy usually generated by the direction source.

Regularly turned Vampires often known as run bloods or runs for short have two sets of canines that conceal a tube like structure that acts like a straw although a manual process it produces to funnel blood parallel to the nasal cavity directly to their Carotid Arteries and through their bloodstream. Although this process takes longer for runs to complete it allows them a powerful sense of smell when they use it.

Ghouls, while many prefer to avoid the subject of failed turns they provide a volatile reminder about the dangers of the delicate balance it takes to turn a vampire. These creatures upon being killed are most often exposed to vampire blood in a accidental manner. (Type 1, ghouls) Too little blood to turn a vampire results in a ghoul that can turn quickly feral and beastly. Usually run bloods and ghouls experience the same surge of adrenaline and energy. (Type 2, ghouls) But in the case of too much blood to be an average turn can leave the victim in an unstable but extremely formidable however fragile state. This can manifest as sudden surging in bloodlust as well as an altered aggressive state of consciousness that unfortunately drives the mind mad.

your ocs' ways of expressing love, to listener or others??

Aww this is fun, I tried to keep it simple but I love this question too much. :))💛 I left out some characters that aren’t the like main ones. The Highbrook crew has reasons they aren’t super physically affectionate and that will be revealed later but if they could they would.

Amanda loves listening to all of the rambles and rants, hearing darling or Athena be passionate about something, remembering it and bringing it up to watch their faces light up is her favorite. When she gets comfortable she might sit shoulder to shoulder with Darling and Athena

Athena is observant, so making mental notes about things darling and Amanda like their favorite flowers or something like that. She may or may not have made darling a mechanical pet just like Cadmus.

Bonus: Drew - will almost always bring Amanda and Athena gifts from his travels and once darling sticks around too they definitely get gifts too.

Rowan, oh my gods bringing food and her hand on the shoulder 100%, mothering Sunshine is instinctive at this point. She will bring them some water while they’re practicing, offer them advice if they want it but she likes knowing the people she cares about are fed.

Avyanna, her and majesty have an interesting dynamic at the beginning but her love is telling majesty about their surroundings, and how their actions actually affect their citizens and not just how things benefit their pack and fixing their clothes.

Emile is almost always flirting with Ace if not just for shits and giggles, but compliments and (if they could do it as much as they wanted) kisses on the hand. During meetings emile will almost always have their foot resting next to or near Ace’s foot under the table.

Beatrix picks lost up all the time, nerding out about stuff is just so awesome. She and lost shake each other by the shoulders in excitement and Beatrix loves sitting at Lost’s height (bc she’s a lamia this is possible) it’s not uncomfortable for her plus she gets to look at their eyes fill with determination or joy or whatever it is.

Athena and Drew were turned into purebloods (a type of vampire, see here) together and have been an inseparable duo since then, but Drew travels for his research and for Félix. That isn’t when this reunion is however… (if you want peak feels listen to the song meet me in the woods by lord Huron)

I personally imagine Drew and Athena having a more platonic brother/sister relationship than anything romantic but it’ll probably be up to listener interpretation when I voice em.

In spirit of Halloween here are some spooky related headcanons about my characters

- Emile may be a blood mage and their partner in crime may be a medium but they absolutely do not mess with those beyond the vein of the living. Emile is adamantly opposed to shit talking ghosts and still has protection spells ready anytime they might need it.

- Both Ace and Emile hold a small fear of each other that manifests as distrust for the others magic.

-It’s usually a local thing but traditionally vampires once a century hold the symposium ball but when it’s held at Highbrooke Manor, Athena, Amanda, Drew, and some of their closer friends find a quieter place in the lab to chat.

-Beatrix and her listener who is avidly named “Lost” had a tradition to meet up around the same time each year to catch up and hunt for a special deer.

-Mx. Holloway/the Countess/Laurel has a certain few Fae they regularly convene with. Take that as you will.

Byleia Vampire Lore:

Vampirism in this world heavily depends on the magic abilities and capacities of the thrall and the progenitor. Vampires also have a different court/hierarchy system. My vampire characters include Athena, Amanda, Drew, and a few others I’m still working on designing.

Byleia is a Dnd world I’ve been creating for 4+ years throughout my journey as a Dungeon Master, but it is also the world most of my characters live in. I have different lore for a lot of the supernatural species.
