Podcasts AKDT 2021

"D’abord, on a brisé la glace (pas épaisse, pellicule très très fine). Le premier matin, on n’a pas fait le grand cercle comme on fait toujours, mais quatre petits. On s’est présenté aux autres en réagissant aux mots tirés au hasard parmi ceux de l’effervescence du mot « podcast » faite juste avant. On a changé de groupe quatre fois. Ensuite, on s’est mis en cercle et, celles qui avaient quelques éléments ont présenté aux autres celles, et celui, qu’elles connaissaient à peine. Sans que ce soit énoncé, on avait fait de l’écoute active. On avait aussi déjà commencé à enregistrer. Ce serait comme ça pour la suite, tout étant toujours bon à enregistrer. Il y avait Madeleine, ses assertions toujours percutantes, justes, pan dans le mille, parfois déconcertantes. Ça vient d’où « podcast » ? On a cherché, trouvé, puis on a podcast et on a mis création radio à la place. Il y avait Nina, la plus jeune, son visage aussi éblouissant qu’une led de 3220 lumens (200 Watts), son plaisir sans cesse exprimé face à l’étendue des possibilités de la création radio, sa joie de vivre ce stage avec des adultes, son désir de ne plus dormir pour profiter de la vie encore davantage. Alors, on a écouté La philosophie de Georges Moustaki. Nous avons toute la vie pour nous amuser, nous avons toute la mort pour nous reposer. Il y a eu Thierry, le « docteur du son ». Il est passé pour partager sa passion, pour quelques notions théoriques, pratiques. Il a accompagné quelques captations, micros bien placés. Il y avait Madeleine, elle a mordu dans une table en plastique pour tester le truc de Thierry qui disait qu’on ne pouvait plus repérer les sons si on ne pouvait plus faire de micro mouvements avec la tête. Ça marche pas, son truc… Fallait une table en bois ! Il y avait Isabelle, le casque sur les oreilles, seule à ne pas s’entendre s’esclaffer. On a commencé à écouter autrement. Il y avait Alice, son enquête sur les prénoms qui en a remué plus d’une. On a parlé de ça, de l’émotion que peut faire naître la présence du micro, avec une question à l’apparence anodine. Il y avait Anton, le petit garçon d’Alice, venu enregistrer le générique. Il y avait Catherine, le visage rempli d’effroi, au début du stage, face à l’ampleur de la nouveauté, plus apaisée au fur et à mesure des jours. Il y avait Madeleine qui nous a raconté l’histoire de Simone, sa truie. Il y avait Magali et Élisabeth qui se sont fait prendre au jeu du reportage radiophonique : quand on pense partir une matinée pour faire le portrait de Madeleine par Simone, la truie, et qu’on reste à midi pour manger un bout chez le papa, puis l’après-midi pour aider à faire les « petits ballots », puis jusqu’au soir pour boire un coup, et tant pis pour le rendez-vous collectif de 14h. Et, moi, Christine, je dis tant mieux, le stage a les bras longs et les oreilles voyageuses. On a parlé de l’éthique, du respect vis-à-vis des personnes interviewées. Il y avait Pierre, tout au service de Neufchâteau, désireux de valoriser les Ateliers Partagés. Il y avait Émilie, discrète, elle a partagé ce qu’elle savait déjà avec Marie. On avait la tête qui saturait d’infos. Il y avait Nathalie, avec Nina, sculptant, ruminant chacune un mot, un seul, dans une forme de création exploratoire. On a fait écouter des créations sonores personnelles, ou de collègues. Il y avait l’autre Marie, discrète, à l’écoute. Il y avait beaucoup d’entraide, de soutien des unes aux autres. Il y a eu des coups de mou. Il y avait Némo, ses éclats de rires brefs et sonores, aux petits soins pour chacun.e, sa patience, sa clarté pour les indications techniques parfois rébarbatives. Némo parfois élève de Christine pour la méthodologie. Il y avait Christine, au garde à vous pour accompagner les projets, donner des sons T’aurais pas des enfants qui jouent dans la rue, des mouettes, la machine du rémouleur… ? Christine à la lecture, aux propositions d’écriture, au réconfort, à l’encouragement, au café, aux courses pour les crasses. Christine, parfois, élève de Némo pour les fonctions de Reaper, et autres références. Il y a eu quelques visites dans les autres stages (massage, théâtre pour les enfants, reliure…). Ils ont dit que Némo et Christine formaient un « beau couple » ; on a corrigé par « binôme ». Ils ont parlé de nos sourires, de notre dynamisme. Ils ont vécu des propositions d’écriture foutraques, le rémouleur voisinant l’ange, le port non loin du hammam. Elles ont emprunté des bouquins. Elle a demandé une contrainte stricte : une séquence de 2’ pas plus ! Il y avait les oreilles de passage, et Christophe, des Ateliers Partagés, son plaisir journalier de venir capturer des sons par ci par là. Le dernier jour, se trouvait, devant la porte des Ateliers Partagés, 75 litres de petit lait, pour Simone, la rescapée de l’hécatombe due à la peste porcine, de la part de la logeuse d’une stagiaire qui connaissait bien l’animal. Le dernier après-midi, ils sont sortis, leurs réalisations dans les baffles du centre-ville. Une dame a garé sa voiture et s’est installée sur les marches, avec ses petits-enfants, pour écouter. Chutt !!! Une autre dame, avec une poussette, n’en croyait pas ses oreilles à l’écoute du texte de Mathilde : c’est quoi, ce truc, on va devoir mettre des moufles à l’intérieur, maintenant ! Nous n’étions pas loin de l’effet « Guerre des mondes » d’Orson Wells. 14 univers, 14 manières d’aborder la création radiophonique, dans une grande liberté de genres, d’approches, de thématiques. The eldest of three siblings as well as the current owner of Hotarugari Cafe. When their parents passed away, Lumen took it upon himself to both care for his sisters as a parent figure and run their family business at the age of fifteen. Normally friendly and polite, he’s very willing to lend a listening ear, and is especially caring to their cafe regulars. He takes his role as parent figure and cafe owner very seriously, abiding by the policies he established for the cafe and sometimes growing protective over his younger sisters.

Because their family business doesn’t actually pay enough to cover their living expenses, Lumen also takes up questionable underground side-jobs in order to fill in the gaps. He’s willing to build up walls and harden his heart if it means retaining the peace he’s worked so hard for his family. He’s a very caring individual deep down, but he’s also cautious of being too relaxed.

Installation art collective Limelight has transformed the Parliament Building of Romania for the  iMapp Bucharest International Video Mapping Competition. The projection required the use of 104 projectors to cast the 23,000 square meter surface of the Parliament’s front facade in over 1 million ANSI lumens.

iMapp Bucharest stands for video projections on the second largest administrative building in the world – the Palace of the Parliament a.k.a Casa Poporului; more than 104 projectors used, 23.000 square meters of projection surface, over 2.000.000 ANSI lumens and one huge stage. Each year in September, the best video artists showcase their work on the facade of Casa Poporului in front of a large audience.

The colossal Parliament building houses the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, three museums and an international conference centre.(…) After the Romanian Revolution in 1989, the Palace of Parliament became widely known as the People’s House (Romanian: Casa Poporului). Due to its impressive endowments, conferences & events are organised by state institutions & international bodies, but even so about 70% of the building is empty and it is expensive as hell to keep it warm (the cost of heating & electric lighting alone exceeds $6 million per year?!) Unlike what is happening on the inside, the iMapp event gained a lot of respect. Rumours from Romania say that the People’s House has finally reached its higher purpose within existence: giving something back to the people, it serves as the biggest facade there is around to project on.

This year’s event centred on the theme of “Dialogue”. The six selected finalists for iMapp 2016 were Filip Roca (Montenegro); Romera Diseño e Infografia SL (Spain); VOID – Turkey; Mindscape Studio (Romania); Illuminarium3000 (Russia) and Limelight (Hungary). The event took place on Saturday, 24th of September, in Constituției Square. Before the video mapping shows, we could hear Golan Symphonic, a Romanian band with an innovative project, followed by the headliner of the evening, the famous Irish singer Róisín Murphy. Prior to the main event, the facade of the city’s Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism was also illuminated on two different evenings with video-mapping shows from Motionlab and Les Ateliers Nomad.

According to its creators, “the projection mapping shows the interconnectedness of all things from micro to macro as well as the outer and the inner universe. Conjuring emotions and feelings, the amazing display of colour, light and sound aims to reopen the dialogue between the internal and the external, through a cinematic journey from the state of separation to the state of eternal openness.”

As we can see, in the projection video, artists used lots of Optical illusion building elements, which reminds me of Maurits Cornelis Escher’s artworks.

Maurits Cornelis Escher (17 June 1898 – 27 March 1972) was a Dutch graphic artist who made mathematically-inspired woodcuts, lithographs, and mezzotints. Despite the wide popular interest, Escher was for long somewhat neglected in the art world, even in his native Netherlands. He was 70 before a retrospective exhibition was held. In the twenty-first century, he became more widely appreciated, with exhibitions across the world. His work features mathematical objects and operations including impossible objects, explorations of infinity, reflection, symmetry, perspective, truncated and stellated polyhedra, hyperbolic geometry, and tessellations. Although Escher believed he had no mathematical ability, he interacted with the mathematicians George Pólya, Roger Penrose, Harold Coxeter and crystallographer Friedrich Haag, and conducted his own research into tessellation. Early in his career, he drew inspiration from nature, making studies of insects, landscapes, and plants such as lichens, all of which he used as details in his artworks. He travelled in Italy and Spain, sketching buildings, townscapes, architecture and the tilings of the Alhambra and the Mezquita of Cordoba, and became steadily more interested in their mathematical structure. Escher's art became well known among scientists and mathematicians, and in popular culture, especially after it was featured by Martin Gardner in his April 1966 Mathematical Games column in Scientific American. Wajah baru Istora juga dilengkapi dengan pendingin ruangan yang menggunakan tipe AHU dan tentunya telah disesuaikan dengan corong udara pada sisi atap. Sehingga meskipun pertandingan sedang dilangsungkan, hal tersebut tidak akan mempengaruhi lambungnya shuttlecock di udara. Kenyamanan atlet juga didukung dengan flooring (karpet dan lantai dasar lapangan) kualitas terbaik.

Daya tampung Istora, sebelum direnovasi adalah 10.000 penonton dengan kursi kayunya. Sedangkan pasca renovasi, Istora menggunakan kursi tunggal lipat dengan kapasitas tampung 7.166 penonton.

Renovasi juga menyentuh sistem pencahayaan yang kini menggunakan lampu LED yang sesuai standar internasional berkekuatan 2000 lumens namun tidak menimbulkan panas berlebih.

Our Home // The Master Bedroom

I have been DYING to share my Master Bedroom redesign with you guys since the Summer. But it’s finally here and can’t wait to gush about all the details. With the help of my dear friend Anne, we came together to create the room of my dreams. If you don’t know Anne, she is an interior design guru who creates some of the most lust worthy spaces. I had always gushed over Anne’s interiors and one day I left her a comment on one of her photos saying, “Hey, design my whole house. K thanks.” And she replied back that she was in. This was all too perfect. With our similar aesthetics I knew we could create a space together to fit my needs.

What I really wanted was a little place to retreat in my home and for it to be a very zen space. A place to sneak away and read a book, to relax cozy in bed with a movie, or to wake up and enjoy a little sun kissed meditation. Since moving into our home we completed our Walk in Closet and now most recently our Home Office. One of my main goals was for the room to feel warm and be layered with texture. It’s something I have a hard time doing my own and Anne is a texture layering master.

We started our design with the biggest piece, the bed. We chose a bed from Verellen that we were able to have custom upholstered by Crypton. Since I have 4 animals in my home including 1 very sassy cat named Miles that loves to scratch things, it’s always a priority for me to find the right textures that will keep their little claws off. We chose a light neutral beige it served as the base of our color palette. Or lack there of. Everything in the room is neutral but accentuated with pops of black and dark tones. A challenge with my bedroom shape was the angled walls next to each side of the bed. It made shopping for end tables very tricky. I swear I looked 5 million places and it was very difficult to find something delicate enough to fit. Anne convinced me to go minimal when we found the perfect marble side tables from Lulu and Georgia. I love that marble has a nice modern finish next to the luxe fabric of the bed. We finished off the bed with crisp white bedding from Rough Linen since I am such a sucker for white sheets. It tends to hide the animal hair that inevitably ends up all over since I can’t say not to any of my animals and we have a bed filled with 1 dog and 2 cats… and 2 humans. HA. I also love the that the bed runner breaks up the bedspread with a little bit of contrasting color. I also decided that in this redesign, I was going to loose the millions of throw pillows of my past. Just one simple decorative pillow would give our bed it’s finishing touch. I scored this one from Serena and Lily online.

The next big decision for us would be the rug. Since we never had a rug to begin with I have no idea what direction to go. What I knew is that I wanted a very subtle pattern and something luxe to step onto when you slip your feet out of bed in the morning. This rug from jaipur living was a big hit with humans and pets the minute we unrolled it. It’s so incredibly soft and hand woven with modern Morocco vibes. Next up was a bench. Our bedroom is pretty spacious so we wanted to take advantage of that. We picked out this chunky cool toned wooden bench from Lulu and Georgia to play with different wood tones. This is something I typically stay away from but I put my trust in Anne’s creative hands and I love how it turned out. To give the bench a warmer feel, we found this unreal cool hide from BoConcept that was both cream and black. Basically combining my favorite color tones. Without this, the space would feel unfinished. It just goes to show how much texture can contribute when designing a space.

Another challenge for me was making sure we found a cool modern dresser to store things like our pajamas and gym clothes. Since we had other older dressers previously, I didn’t want to lose any storage space so this was an important piece to find. We found this beautiful wooden dresser from Room & Board and I finally see that a dress can be sexy. Since that side of the wall is pretty large it was the perfect place to create a little reading and relaxation nook. We chose a Bernhardt with JF Fabrics Crypton Home fabric. Here we did another custom fabric choice which allowed us to create this velvety and moody moment. I now have to fight the cats for this seat… but I don’t blame them. We also found this incredibly unique peace sign throw from Accompany for when it’s time to get cozy. I also wanted to make sure if I was sipping coffee or reading a book, I had a place to set things down. I found this more industrial style side table from West Elm that is another great example of how mixing textures can warm up a space. You will notice that above the chair sits a framed photograph of pelicans flying down the coast line. This is actually a photo that I took while at the beach near our home. I loved the idea of having some of my own photography in the room. The beach vibes always relax me so I had my own prints framed through Framebridge. They just make it so easy to pick the exact dimensions you want to fit your space. I put another one of my photo prints on the other side of the window. As you can see, I have a bird theme going on in the room and I didn’t do that intentionally. I guess when you gravitate toward something you can’t escape it. To finish of my reading nook I ordered this lamp from AllModern. In all honesty, when I first opened the package and put the lamp in the space, I hated it. But I kept it put together for whatever reason and I ended up really learning to love it. I love the modern feel and crisp angles. I feel like it really gives this nook a sculptural element that it’s dying for. Anne found print 1 and print 2 from Citizen Atelier. For some reason birds are the theme in this room. These light weight feathers are so whimsical and calming. We had them framed by Framebridge matte-less in crisp white frames. We chose to make them super oversized and I love how the scale makes the room seem even larger.

Speaking of artwork, let’s talk about these feather prints. I can’t tell you how many compliments we get on them and when you walk in the room they look SO realistic that you would never believe they are prints. Another thing we were missing was lighting next to the bed. Since we didn’t have much room for table side lamps, we decided to explore the idea of sconces. We picked out sconces from High Fashion Home and I love how they contrast with all the white in the bed and artwork. Another thing we replaced over the bed was the ceiling fan. We updated it to a super modern version from Lumens. Another thing we needed to incorporate was a full length mirror. I wanted something with an oversized feel and fell in love with this modern leaning mirror from Room & Board. Anne also had the idea to add a little dimension next to the mirror with the cutest little stool from Kalon Studios. The perfect place for makeup while I get ready or some fresh flowers.

Other than that, the rest of the room came together with the help of a lot of last minute shopping for odds and ends. Once addition I adore are the pillows and wicker baskets from The Little Market. The create more texture and warms on the window seat. I also ordered some new coffee table books for the room and completely obsessed with The Surf Shack book. It’s nice to be able to page through when I am needing a break and a little big of inspiration. This bedroom redesign is a truly a dream come true. I find myself sitting in this room because it just feel like a breath of fresh air. I have to thank Anne for working so hard to help me realize our vision. She is a true artist when it comes to spaces and there is no way I could have don’t this on my own. Also a big thank you to all the brands that collaborated to make our dreams a reality. Anne and I are gearing up for our next project together: Living Room, Dining Room, and Entry Ways. I can not wait to continue our design visions together. One room at a time. Our Home // The Master Bedroom

I have been DYING to share my Master Bedroom redesign with you guys since the Summer. But it’s finally here and can’t wait to gush about all the details. With the help of my dear friend Anne, we came together to create the room of my dreams. If you don’t know Anne, she is an interior design guru who creates some of the most lust worthy spaces. I had always gushed over Anne’s interiors and one day I left her a comment on one of her photos saying, “Hey, design my whole house. K thanks.” And she replied back that she was in. This was all too perfect. With our similar aesthetics I knew we could create a space together to fit my needs.

What I really wanted was a little place to retreat in my home and for it to be a very zen space. A place to sneak away and read a book, to relax cozy in bed with a movie, or to wake up and enjoy a little sun kissed meditation. Since moving into our home we completed our Walk in Closet and now most recently our Home Office. One of my main goals was for the room to feel warm and be layered with texture. It’s something I have a hard time doing my own and Anne is a texture layering master.

We started our design with the biggest piece, the bed. We chose a bed from Verellen that we were able to have custom upholstered by Crypton. Since I have 4 animals in my home including 1 very sassy cat named Miles that loves to scratch things, it’s always a priority for me to find the right textures that will keep their little claws off. We chose a light neutral beige it served as the base of our color palette. Or lack there of. Everything in the room is neutral but accentuated with pops of black and dark tones. A challenge with my bedroom shape was the angled walls next to each side of the bed. It made shopping for end tables very tricky. I swear I looked 5 million places and it was very difficult to find something delicate enough to fit. Anne convinced me to go minimal when we found the perfect marble side tables from Lulu and Georgia. I love that marble has a nice modern finish next to the luxe fabric of the bed. We finished off the bed with crisp white bedding from Rough Linen since I am such a sucker for white sheets. It tends to hide the animal hair that inevitably ends up all over since I can’t say not to any of my animals and we have a bed filled with 1 dog and 2 cats… and 2 humans. HA. I also love the that the bed runner breaks up the bedspread with a little bit of contrasting color. I also decided that in this redesign, I was going to loose the millions of throw pillows of my past. Just one simple decorative pillow would give our bed it’s finishing touch. I scored this one from Serena and Lily online.

The next big decision for us would be the rug. Since we never had a rug to begin with I have no idea what direction to go. What I knew is that I wanted a very subtle pattern and something luxe to step onto when you slip your feet out of bed in the morning. This rug from jaipur living was a big hit with humans and pets the minute we unrolled it. It’s so incredibly soft and hand woven with modern Morocco vibes. Next up was a bench. Our bedroom is pretty spacious so we wanted to take advantage of that. We picked out this chunky cool toned wooden bench from Lulu and Georgia to play with different wood tones. This is something I typically stay away from but I put my trust in Anne’s creative hands and I love how it turned out. To give the bench a warmer feel, we found this unreal cool hide from BoConcept that was both cream and black. Basically combining my favorite color tones. Without this, the space would feel unfinished. It just goes to show how much texture can contribute when designing a space.

Another challenge for me was making sure we found a cool modern dresser to store things like our pajamas and gym clothes. Since we had other older dressers previously, I didn’t want to lose any storage space so this was an important piece to find. We found this beautiful wooden dresser from Room & Board and I finally see that a dress can be sexy. Since that side of the wall is pretty large it was the perfect place to create a little reading and relaxation nook. We chose a Bernhardt with JF Fabrics Crypton Home fabric. Here we did another custom fabric choice which allowed us to create this velvety and moody moment. I now have to fight the cats for this seat… but I don’t blame them. We also found this incredibly unique peace sign throw from Accompany for when it’s time to get cozy. I also wanted to make sure if I was sipping coffee or reading a book, I had a place to set things down. I found this more industrial style side table from West Elm that is another great example of how mixing textures can warm up a space. You will notice that above the chair sits a framed photograph of pelicans flying down the coast line. This is actually a photo that I took while at the beach near our home. I loved the idea of having some of my own photography in the room. The beach vibes always relax me so I had my own prints framed through Framebridge. They just make it so easy to pick the exact dimensions you want to fit your space. I put another one of my photo prints on the other side of the window. As you can see, I have a bird theme going on in the room and I didn’t do that intentionally. I guess when you gravitate toward something you can’t escape it. To finish of my reading nook I ordered this lamp from AllModern. In all honesty, when I first opened the package and put the lamp in the space, I hated it. But I kept it put together for whatever reason and I ended up really learning to love it. I love the modern feel and crisp angles. I feel like it really gives this nook a sculptural element that it’s dying for. Anne found print 1 and print 2 from Citizen Atelier. For some reason birds are the theme in this room. These light weight feathers are so whimsical and calming. We had them framed by Framebridge matte-less in crisp white frames. We chose to make them super oversized and I love how the scale makes the room seem even larger.

Speaking of artwork, let’s talk about these feather prints. I can’t tell you how many compliments we get on them and when you walk in the room they look SO realistic that you would never believe they are prints. Another thing we were missing was lighting next to the bed. Since we didn’t have much room for table side lamps, we decided to explore the idea of sconces. We picked out sconces from High Fashion Home and I love how they contrast with all the white in the bed and artwork. Another thing we replaced over the bed was the ceiling fan. We updated it to a super modern version from Lumens. Another thing we needed to incorporate was a full length mirror. I wanted something with an oversized feel and fell in love with this modern leaning mirror from Room & Board. Anne also had the idea to add a little dimension next to the mirror with the cutest little stool from Kalon Studios. The perfect place for makeup while I get ready or some fresh flowers.

Other than that, the rest of the room came together with the help of a lot of last minute shopping for odds and ends. Once addition I adore are the pillows and wicker baskets from The Little Market. The create more texture and warms on the window seat. I also ordered some new coffee table books for the room and completely obsessed with The Surf Shack book. It’s nice to be able to page through when I am needing a break and a little big of inspiration. This bedroom redesign is a truly a dream come true. I find myself sitting in this room because it just feel like a breath of fresh air. I have to thank Anne for working so hard to help me realize our vision. She is a true artist when it comes to spaces and there is no way I could have don’t this on my own. Also a big thank you to all the brands that collaborated to make our dreams a reality. Anne and I are gearing up for our next project together: Living Room, Dining Room, and Entry Ways. I can not wait to continue our design visions together. One room at a time.
