The thing is… I never.. Thought women were lesser than. Ofc, I am a woman, so i don't think that I’m lesser because of that… But… when I saw a women make the news for something “breaking barriers” i was pleased, of course, as a little girl… But it confused me. Why were we celebrating things like a women going to space? Why was it a big deal that a women was competing? It… it should have been normal. It was normal for me. Because my parents never acted like my accomplishments were bigger things because I was a woman, they acted like my accomplishments were big things because they were, or because I beat my older brothers. And… and well, because of Marvel. Marvel has never shied from showcasing strong female protagonists- that are more than just love interests, Maria Hill, shes not a lead, but shes badass and smart and says complex words that Captain America, a man, needs her explanation for, and shes no ones love interest, Captain Marvel gets her own movie and theres no mention once of a man she likes, we got a Black Widow movie, a little late but still there and she wasn't given a love interest, no it was her story about family and gave us her badass little sister as the next lead, Natasha doesn't have a true love interest until Ultron and even then its not a main plot point for either, Wanda’s big motivator is love, but first and foremost it was for the world and for her brother, not Vision, Peggy was a badass, Pepper stood on her own and refuted and called out Tony when he was being a child, and its just… Marvel did so much and did it so well that… I never doubted women could be equal to men, that they were. And that… that makes me so proud.
