In some parts of the world, it’s cold and snowy, there’s fires warming their feet and warm mugs of hot chocolate nestling comfortably between their cold fingers. For other parts, the heat is ferocious, everyone is begging for that light summer breeze to wisp away any trace of sweat, and most of them are sitting in Christmas shirts and tank tops, shorts and flip flops.

While I’ve been on tumblr for a while, this year is when I really got serious about writing, and now, I’m gaining confidence in my writing once again, and people are enjoying the pieces I’ve put out. Through this journey, I have met some amazing writers and readers, artists and editors, but most importantly, people who share the same interest as me, kpop stans.

1. One Last Time - Park Jisung

My first time doing a collab (if my memory serves me correctly) and one of my longer fics (clocking in at 2.9k) This fic let me live out the childhood dreams that I never got to live (mainly bc my mum never let me go trick or treating 🤧) My favourite, not only bc it’s of my ult bias, but my favourite trope/concept

2. Pay Attention to Me - Liu YangYang

Another Halloween special, but with vampire!yy and his witch!s/o. A clingy vampire trying to pry cuddles from his witch partner but they’re in the middle of brewing a potion. This fic is so soft and cute and has a slight dash of humour in it

3. Strawberry Mentos - Huang Renjun

This was based off an audio I found on tiktok and it was so sweet and adorable and I couldn’t stop myself from writing MY UNDERRATED QUEEN LIKE PLEASE SHE IS ONE OF MY FAVES in which Renjun starts eating his crush’s favourite candy

4. Au Revoir, Solider Boy - Johnny Suh

I’m still not very experienced in writing angst, but I think this one came out really nice. Did I manage to emotionally break one of my best friends? Yes, yes I did (sorry Elle 😬) but I think the last line is the kicker

5. 1:03am - Kim Seungmin

Finally, something that isn’t nct on this list lol but one that I hold dear to my heart. I am a really sucker for dad aus and I absolutely love the idea of Seungmin and his journey in being a first time father

i wrote 36k words and joined 3 nets this year. i’m still far from active on here (life is busy, ugh) but i’ve gotten more mutuals and the writing community on tumblr is so amazing and supportive! this was also the year i got my first ask about my fics, which was a huge milestone for me :’) here’s to more writing in 2021!

september: mood ring (vernon choi. highschool!au, slice of life, f2l. 21k words)

my current magnum opus! if you ever read my skz fics from last year, please please please read this afterwards i promise you my writing is no longer that cringy. i wrote the bulk of mood ring over 3-ish months (the longest i’ve spent on a posted fic) and i’ve since retired the universe this takes place in after a spinoff drabble and fake texts. shoutout to that one anon who started it all when they asked about the groupchat’s important convos.

march: amortentia (lee donghyuck/haechan. harry potter!au, sugar quills spinoff. 585 words)

fluff. tooth rotting fluff. oh, and a little bit of musing about what it means to love sprinkled in. that is all.

december: sk8er boi (lee jeno. promposal!au, f2l. 1.2k words)

i almost didn’t finish this, but hockeyplayer!jeno... yeah. the sheer amount of awkwardness in this fic was a delight to write.

september: sunny (yoon jeonghan. angst, slice of life/day in the life, breakup!au. 1.7k words)

my first angst fic! i think i tried to write it in a lighthearted way at the beginning to contrast with the ending, so it’s not pure angst, and the worldbuilding really helped with that. i like to think of it as misdirection? on a lighter note, this was the first fic i made a banner for, and i’m NEVER going back.

may: untitled changbin drabble for my drabble game.

there’s nothing special about this, but minnie made a post analyzing one of the paragraphs here and i nearly combusted. someone who went to grad school for english + writing theory analyzed my fanfic?? i am: simping.

hmmm right let’s get into it,,, yes most of these are gonna be jeno bc most of my masterlist is jeno :)

1. ten things + then some | jeno 

this one just had to be on here. not only is it my longest fic, but i wrote it so quickly and anytime i re-read it i love it. it was inspired by one of my favorite rom-coms of all time 10 things i hate about you and idk i loved the way i wrote it. as a more descriptive writer and not much dialogue i think i did a good job on that lol and idk just v enjoyable and an emotional rollercoaster. ( the ending could be improved though oi )

2. the chemistry of water | jeno

this one was tied w first place because it has such a special place on my heart. it was the first like “real” fic i wrote on here and i love it so so much. the feedback i’ve gotten saying that though the don’t like chemistry they liked it how it was incorporated throughout the fic makes me really happy. i combined basically some of my favorite things and when i read the prompt (the acc doesn’t exist anymore) i just knew i had to write a fic on it. so yeah...one of my favorite things i just love how everything is explained through chemistry. 

3. emotional brick of emotions | jeno

though this was a quick drabble i struggled sm to come up with a coherent idea and then like it clicked. and i just really like the kiss scene and just the tension that leads up to it lol. also cars is a great movie. 

4. [ 11:13 pm ] + [ 1:04 am ] | jaehyun

the angst in this i just *pats self on back* but then i really liked it because it’s shown from both pov’s. so the night is told from y/n’s on 11:13pm and then by jaehyun on 1:04 am which i found lots of fun to write and then just nice lmao. 

5. [ 9:36 pm ] | mark 

ummm,,, lmao i don’t know much to say but this was cute. and inspired by real life events and has now become a short series called psa: don’t fall in love with your best friend. lmao. but srls this series is sm fun and easy to write and gets me in le feels.
