K-SET Chemical Science Eligibility: Qualifications and Criteria Explained
The Karnataka State Eligibility Test, or K-SET, is designed for those who are looking to be assistant professors in colleges and universities of Karnataka. Conducted by Mysore University, K-SET assesses candidates in various subjects, with the one under consideration here being Chemical Science. Before attempting the K-SET paper in Chemical Science, one needs to be aware of the eligibility criteria applicable so that the process is free from hassles while applying. Qualifications 
The primary eligibility criterion for K-SET in Chemical Science is the educational qualification. General (Unreserved Category): Those candidates who fall into this category should have obtained at least 55% aggregate marks in the master's degree. 
Reservation Categories:  SC/ST/OBC /PwD candidates can apply for this exam by obtaining at least 50% aggregate marks. 
Candidates must have secured minimum marks in master's degree to be eligible for K-SET exam. Aggregation of Percentiles of those candidates, which are below the lower of these threshold levels, are not eligible to apply. 
Final-Year Students 
Provisions have been made for the final-year postgraduates to appear for K-SET on a provisional basis also. In other words, those students who are in the last year of their master's course or who are still awaiting the result of the same can apply too. Still, within two years of the result date of K-SET, they must provide proof of having passed with adequate marks in the master's course. 
If such a candidate fails to do so, then he or she is considered disqualified for issue of the K-SET certificate. 
Age Limit for K-SET 
There is no age restriction for the K-SET exam. So, it becomes available to everyone who has just passed out and an experienced professional who would love to become a college/ university level teaching staff in Karnataka in Chemical Science. 
Other Essential Requirements 
The candidates must also satisfy the usual residency or employment qualifications that are applicable to teaching positions in Karnataka, were they to clear the K-SET.
