sometimes i do actually forget that Realm of the Elderlings is technically/nominally "about an assassin" (it's in the title of every book in the first trilogy & 2/3 books in the last trilogy) because "assassin" is in fact one of the last words to come to mind when i think about Fitz

honestly i love that Robin Hobb said "let's make the main character of this series a professional assassin, but give him the skillset & temperament of an axe-wielding berserker. oh and he'll put every last point of his stealth training into Bisexual Self-Deception"

Expiritus_Sancti: Y-yes, I'm fine. The Albatross got me out safe, but... it's bad. Chernobog beat me there. I was too late.

calibanhammer: Backtalker is dead, then?

Expiritus_Sancti: Presumably - Commodore's entire block was already thoroughly destroyed by the time I got there. Whatever Backtalker was looking for is obliterated by now. They succeeded.

calibanhammer: That would explain the comms blackout, then. After you went off in pursuit of that signal, there was a company-wide comms blackout for CMC - everyone lost contact with everyone. Slipshod and I had to get out of our cockpits to contact Dancer and Sawbones; they were both fine, despite the damages, but by the time we were able to talk things over, Commodore had all but disappeared from the battlefield.

70KU-N4H-W4: comms are back online now, but nobody on any side can get hold of Commodore. we think she may have blacked out comms on purpose after getting the news - it ain't good, regardless. if what Backtalker was saying was true, and what got destroyed really was her last remnant of Sylvia...

Expiritus_Sancti: ...we think Commodore went off the deep end?

70KU-N4H-W4: sure fuckin' looks like it. I think the rest of her team has too, actually - do you recall Commodore talking about how she hated being called "mercenary queen"?

Expiritus_Sancti: Vaguely; why?

70KU-N4H-W4: every motherfucker in the company is using some variant of "glory to the mercenary queen" as their sign-off now, instead of the usual "till legends bleed". real fuckin' ominous. feels like a threat, and I can't be sure it ain't also aimed at us as well as Backtalker - or, rather, the conglomerate of traitorous assholes calling themselves Backtalker

calibanhammer: Some context - Slipshod managed to trace some of those ID Expunged messages back to their sources. They all come from different areas in CMC territory. Some from public access boxes, other from personal intercomms, and still others from third-party devices. "Backtalker" isn't a person, it's a movement: in short, there's been a full infiltration of CMC right under Commodore's nose, and their revenge has finally hit home.

Expiritus_Sancti: ...Christ-the-Buddha almighty. So we've been being lied to this entire time. Fuck.

70KU-N4H-W4: not only that, but I've got word now that Z has decided to sign on with CMC right in the middle of this whole mess. (wish I was kidding, but Z's case worker is literally online discussing the details as we speak.) apparently Signal wants to hire our lawyers on to deal with whatever mess that whole ordeal is gonna come with, which just reeks of desperation and bad decisions

Expiritus_Sancti: Oh, absolutely not. Kennedi, get on call with Legal immediately; tell them to deny any and all offers made by CORSAIR Mercenary Company until we give them further notice. If they ask for details, tell them that CMC is currently compromised by internal sabotage, and anyone claiming to represent the company at this time might seek to further incriminate CMC as a legal entity.

calibanhammer: Roger that, Phoenix.

Expiritus_Sancti: As for you, Slipshod - get in touch with Command. Tell them we're coming back to base. The longer we stay here, the higher risk there is of becoming graywash fodder.

70KU-N4H-W4: way ahead of you, P - Command gave us the all-clear to disembark a while ago

Expiritus_Sancti: Phenomenal. The Albatross are busy dealing with Chernobog; hopefully they'll be alright fending it off long enough for us to get out. I can ping them later and give them a status update.

70KU-N4H-W4: ...I'm gonna assume we're calling the brawl off until further notice, then?

calibanhammer: The call has been made; Legal has been notified. At this stage, the brawl is no longer relevant - the safety of CMC and ourselves comes first. Dancer and Sawbones have already been informed as much; their damages are fixable, as are ours. For now, we mount a tactical retreat back to base and prepare for the inevitable backlash from CMC for cutting off their legal lifeline.

Expiritus_Sancti: Right. Let's get out of here. We stay any longer, and the Requiem might just turn into a graveyard.

70KU-N4H-W4: with the way things look, it might as well already be one, P. that being said - you don't think we're gonna be on call if someone's gotta take down a feral Commodore, do you?

Expiritus_Sancti: I don't know. Given how much SecCom-era technology CMC utilizes, plus whatever tech Z brings to their table... this may not be a fight we have any chance of winning.

calibanhammer: Agreed. A storm brews on the horizon; best we take shelter while we still can.

Expiritus_Sancti: ...couldn't have said it better myself. C'mon, girls. Let's go home.

Mortis - On one hand, Edgar thinks Mortis' style, place, and undead status is really cool. On the other, he thinks that Mortis is too dramatic and annoying at times. He's friendly with him, but part of that is so he can chat with Emz more easily.

Crow - Edgar made fun of his voice once and Crow hasn't let it go since. Crow usually snubs him if theyre not in a team situation, and that suits Edgar just fine. Though they still encounter each other a lot because of Bibi.

Leon - Leon tries to act cool, but Edgar can see right through it and laughs at his attempts. In return Leon likes to annoy the hell out of him with pranks and stuff. It's like they gained an annoying older/younger brother and they both hate it and find it kind of funny.

Stu - Cool guy. He didn't have any problems with Stu before, but has warmed up considerable to him since the Bad Randoms debuted. They can bond over assassin things and drums. He just hates it when Stu drops off Bonnie with him.

Buzz - Also a cool guy. A bit too energetic for his tastes, but he respects Buzz's creativity and commitment a lot. He also likes him cause he started the Bad Randoms.

Fang - Neither of them are sure when it started, but they somehow turned into friendly rivals. They both respect each other, their jobs, and their fighting style, but also think that the other is stupid a lot.

Sam - Sam triggers weird parental feelings in Edgar. Belle is somewhat maternal to him and so Sam followed her lead, but he still doesnt know how to process Belle let alone him. He is fun to spar with at least.

Cordelius - Edgar is lowkey afraid of Cordelius. The way he talks about Mushrooms somehow feels creepier than Colette's craziest fangirl rants. He's cordial to him, only because of Lily.

Mico - Very irritating. Mico taunted Edgar the first time they met and Edgar is not over it. He also thinks that Mico is what Buzz would have been like if you removed everything cool about Buzz.

Melodie - He hates what she represents more than the girl herself. He just cant stand K-Pop. While she can be a bit annoying, it feels a lot more tolerable than Mortis' or god-forbid Mico's shenanigans.

Lily - Despite not liking Cordelius, he enjoys Lily's company. He likes talking to her and she does respond, even if its a bit clunky since she cant talk.

I’ve put a good 30 hours into assassin’s creed odyssey (my first time playing an assassin’s creed game) and so far my strategy for every mission is to kill everyone in the entire area. It just occurred to me that this may be an unusual way of doing things

Also, I love Odd Trios and Things! It’s one of my favorite Brawl Stars fanfics I’ve read :)

Aww, thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying OTT. It's one of my favorite things to write.

As for Buzz, I've actually got a lot about him so this will be fun.

Buzz HCs

Buzz ending up at Starr Park was a pretty mundane thing. He needed a job and saw that there were job openings. A new water park area was gonna open that needed a life guard and he had experience there, so why not apply?

Even though Buzz's role in the park is as a lifeguard, hes a creative at heart and loves making and involving himself in projects. (Thats why hes got a lot of skins lol).

Part of what catapulted him into being a Brawler was him forming the Bad Randoms.

Originally he tried to do it with some of the non-Brawler employees of the park, but no one bit. Then when he heard Poco and Stu play their instruments, he kinda cornered them and pitched his idea. They thought it was cool and agreed. Management heard about this and thought it was a new amazing idea and that helped secure his Brawler position.

Originally he was just gonna be the vocalist there, but after Poco made some points about band structures, he also picked up a bass to play. He doesnt always do it though.

He does play the trombone, but hasnt figured out how to work that into a performance in the park yet. Maybe one day?

He does tend to be overzealous, both in his lifeguard duties and other projects. While it does show his dedication to things, it can feel quite overbearing at times.

Lola and Mico absolutely HATE Buzz. He's not even an actor and yet he seems to be in a lot more stuff than either of them. Whats up with that?! Gray is neutral but friendly towards Buzz.

By contrast, Fang and Buster love Buzz since hes also a big movie buff like them. Maisie is mre neutral but she doesnt have a problem with him.

Kit thinks that Buzz has potential to be a full on actor if he ever decides to drop his lifeguard duties. Maybe he can even mentor him.

Buzz gets along well with the members of his band, which also includes Bibi (as their security and manager) and Janet (as part of the Good Randoms). Draco is technically also in this category despite not really being in the band.

Doug is his bestie, and one of the only few people who can get him to chill out and relax once hes locked in on an idea or project.

Buzz is actually a master of makeup. Or at least of Body paint, considering how much of it he uses for all the different roles (skins) he plays in the park.

Buzz likes to drink tea to help his voice. Shouting at rule breakers and singing takes a lot out of a guy and hes gotta fix that.

Buzz loves word play and alliteration. The only thing stopping him from doing it all the time is practicality.

He has a deaf bulldog named Daizie that he loves very much (Its the dog in the Born Bad skin)
