Girl Groups That Debuted in 2020
Well, we’ve finally reached the end of this crazy year. Instead of focusing on all of the negative things that happened this year, though, I’d like to take a look back on the amazing groups that debuted this year! These girl groups are all incredible and talented, and if you haven’t checked them out yet, you certainly should now! - Admin Kiwi
Cignature
Cignature is a seven member girl group under J9 Entertainment that debuted on February 3rd with their single Nun Nu Nan Na. From left to right the members are Chaesol, Seline, Jeewon, Sunn, Belle, Ye Ah, and Semi, many members who were former members of the girl group Good Day. Since their debut they’ve had two comebacks with ASSA and Arisong. Their music is fun, bright, and loud, and all of them are extremely talented. They’re probably my favorite girl group to debut in a while and I just want everyone to love them as much as I do!
Tumblr media
Secret Number
Secret Number is a five member girl group under VINE Entertainment that debuted on May 15th with their song Who Dis? The group consists of members Denise, Dita, Soodam, Jinny, and Léa. They recently had a comeback with the song Got That Boom. I’d recommend checking out their Privacy and Holiday performance videos to see more of their music. I think most of you probably know about Secret Number, especially since their girl crush debut was such a success, but they’re definitely a group to keep an eye on going into 2021.
Tumblr media
Weeekly
Weeekly is a seven member girl group under Play M Entertainment that debuted on June 30th with the title song Tag Me (@Me) on their debut album We Are. The group consists of members Jiyoon, Zoa, Soojin, Soeun, Jaehee, Monday, and Jihan. They’re Apink’s little sister group and member Jiyoon has already produced multiple songs for the group, including the song My Earth, about climate change and saving the earth. They have an upbeat and fresh sound that they once again showed with their most recent comeback Zig Zag!
Tumblr media
Aespa
I’m sure you all have already heard about aespa, but they’re a four member girl group that just debuted on November 17th under SM Entertainment with the song Black Mamba. The group consists of members Giselle, Winter, Karina, and NingNing, and they created quite a stir with their concept of not only having secret members (perhaps trainees to be added later?) but also having other AI/avatar selves from an alternate universe. They’re already killing it and I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for them!
Tumblr media
STAYC
STAYC is a six member girl group under High Up Entertainment who just made their debut on November 12th with their single album Star To A Young Culture and the song So Bad. The group consists of members Yoon, Sieun, J, Seeun, Sumin, and Isa. This is another group you might have already seen around as they became popular quite literally overnight. You might also recognize Sieun from her acting career, as she’s acted in shows like “Mystic Pop-Up Bar” and “Still 17.″ If you want to hear a little bit more of their sound, I’d recommend watching the performance video for their song Like This.
Tumblr media
LUNARSOLAR
LUNARSOLAR is a four member girl group under JPlanet Entertainment that debuted on September 2nd with their song Oh Ya Ya Ya. This group has previously been known as Rookie Planet and First Love. The group consists of members Yuuri, Eseo, Jian, and Taeryeong. Taeryeong (Lim Jungmin) was on both Produce 101 and Mixnine, so she might seem familiar to some of you. Their debut song was refreshing and upbeat and I hope to see more of them next year!
Tumblr media
Bling Bling
Bling Bling (or BlingBling, it seems to be stylized both ways) is a six member girl group under MAJOR9 Entertainment that debuted on November 17th with their single album G.G.B. The group consists of members Narin, Juhyun, Yubin, Marin, Jieun, and Ayamy. They debuted with a girl crush concept but with a latin spin on their music that seems to have made them pretty popular in South America, especially in Brazil if their comments are anything to go off of. I was actually very pleasantly surprised and I found myself playing both G.G.B and their b-side La La La over and over after they debuted. Their sound is definitely something that I haven’t seen explored in Kpop before and I’m excited to see how they grow in 2021!
Tumblr media
Woo!Ah!
Woo!Ah! is a five member girl group under NV Entertainment that debuted on May 13th with their single album Exclamation and the title song Woo!Ah! as six members. Unfortunately member Songyee left the group due to personal issues, but the group now consists of members Lucy, Sora, Nana, Minseo, and Wooyeon. They also have a very fun sound and you might have seen Woo!Ah! going a bit viral on Kpop tiktok recently. Their most recent comeback was with Bad Girl, a song that has once again gone a bit viral on tiktok for the unique, especially in Indonesia. I would also recommend checking out their song Payday, my personal favorite by them so far!
Tumblr media
CRAXY
CRAXY is a five member girl group under S.A INTAINMENT that debuted on March 3rd with their full-length album My Universe and the title track Aria. The group consists of members Wooah, Karin, Swan, Hyejin, and ChaeY. The song Aria received attention after it’s release for being... interesting and unique, to say the least. I’ll admit, on the first listen I didn’t like the song, but it definitely grew on me and I enjoy watching them perform it. Unfortunately they haven’t released any comeback since but they have been active doing covers on their YouTube channel so you could definitely check them out there!
Tumblr media
REDSQUARE
REDSQUARE is a five member girl group under About Entertainment that debuted on May 19th with their song Colorfull. The group consists of members Lina, Ari, Green, ChaeA, and Bomin, and all of the members other than Lina were also former members of the girl group Good Day with members of Cignature. Since the group is under a smaller entertainment company, their debut unfortunately didn’t get the attention it deserved. However, Colorfull is not only an amazing song, but the music video is incredibly artistic and aesthetic. I’d really recommend you check these girls out and I hope they have a comeback soon.
Tumblr media
BLACKSWAN
BLACKSWAN is a four member girl group under DR Music that debuted on November 10th as five members with Tonight. Unfortunately the group was already hit with controversy (much like Rania, the group BLACKSWAN “replaced” and some of the members were a part of) and member Hyeme left the group. The remaining members are Youngheun, Leia, Fatou, and Judy. While the future of this group seems to be up in the air, I would totally recommend listening to Tonight, because it’s an absolute bop, just like all the Rania songs come before.
Tumblr media
KEEMBO
Last but not least, KEEMBO is a duo under Ara-Line that debuted on April 10th with their song Thank You, Anyway. The duo consists of Boa and Bohyung, both former members of the girl group SPICA and absolute vocal powerhouses! I was so excited to see them give music another chance because their voices are absolutely amazing. Since their debut, they’ve released a handful of songs, including Scandalous, 99 (Gu Gu), and most recently Scene. There isn’t a single bad song and I would encourage you all to check them out. Scandalous and 99(Gu Gu) are upbeat and bright summer songs while Thank You, Anyway is a ballad and Scene is a bit darker and more sultry in tone. If you’re looking for good vocals and good music, KEEMBO is where to find them.

wickymicky’s Top Ten Kpop Songs of 2020
2: Weeekly - Tag Me (@Me)
This song sort of came out of nowhere for me. Like with a lot of other rookie groups, I had heard of them here and there before their debut, but to be honest, I wasn’t that interested. It’s kind of hard for me to get super excited for a debut before it happens anyway, because obviously I don’t have a lot to go on and can’t know what to expect, lol. I had heard that there’s a member who is a big fan of Loona and her bias is Olivia Hye and that made me sort of interested, but on the other hand I saw that they were all pretty young, with their oldest member being 19, so I wasn’t expecting to stan them. I figured I would check it out at some point, but I wasn’t gonna listen to the song a million times on the release day or anything lol.
But... oops! This song is amazing. It’s basically everything I could ever want in a song. I’ve joked that it’s kind of the successor to last year’s Picky Picky by Weki Meki (which is, incidentally, my favorite kpop song), and I think that’s kinda true lol. It even has a similar kind of repetition of a chant (hanbeon tteumyeon sugunsugun nalli naneun timeline- which reminds me of like it don’t like it love it don’t want it-). It also has a school concept, which is usually something that puts me off of a song, but it doesn’t feel like the standard “school concept”. Both Tag Me and Picky Picky are like reinventions or subversions of the tropes you would associate with that concept, and it’s refreshing. Anyway, just comparing to another song does it a disservice. When I first heard it, a week had already passed since the time it came out, I was late lol, and I thought I would just be checking out something that would make me say “Yeah that was alright I guess, idk”. I expected that I’d listen to it once or twice and move on, and it wouldn’t matter much that I was late by a week. But, I ended up regretting that I didn’t check it out immediately, because this song sorta took over my life.
It’s so catchy. Pretty much every single part of it is catchy. There isn’t a part of this song that I don’t love. It has so much energy, it really doesn’t slow down for its entire runtime. Okay, it obviously does slow down during the bridge, but listen to the guitar in that part! It keeps the momentum really going strong, so that even when things thin out and the bridge vocals come in, there hasnt been any momentum that’s lost. Honestly I think that’s my favorite part of the song. The guitar throughout this song just sounds so crisp and clean, and the bridge really puts a spotlight on that sound. I love the way it builds back up to the final chorus too. Every bridge in every kpop song does that haha, but it’s just so masterfully done here. It’s such a well written song! Even the rap break, which can really make or break a song, is flawless. In fact that’s one of the first things that really caught my attention. Monday’s delivery of her lines is so... like, she’s not gonna be lauded as one of the best rappers in kpop or anything lol, but that section does have a lot more personality than most others in recent girl group songs. And she’s not even the group’s main rapper, she’s the main vocalist!
And if I can talk about the group itself for a second, I have to say that the number one thing that draws me to this group is their potential. They’re great dancers, their vocal line is promising, but the thing that strikes me the most... is Jiyoon. They’ve released ten songs so far, and Jiyoon has written four of them. One of the ones she wrote was My Earth, which they promoted alongside Zig Zag, and that makes me wonder if their company is setting her up to be the group’s main composer one day. They literally just debuted. You basically never see girl groups having members participate in songwriting this early in their career, especially not at the age of only 18. They’re letting Jiyoon prove herself very very very early, and I think that’s a sign of things to come. Just wait and see, keep an eye on this group lol. It’ll be interesting.
Anyway, I saw a youtube comment saying that this song is “very kpop”, which I think is a great way to look at it. Tag Me really is pretty much everything I love about kpop. It’s a much needed breath of fresh air, this whole group is. Weeekly are my pick for Rookie of the Year, and Tag Me was almost my pick for Song of the Year. I’m very excited to see what this group does in 2021, I have high expectations lol
links to the rest of the list: 10 - Fiesta (Izone) 9 - Crossroads (GFriend) 8 - Assa (Cignature) 7 - Boca (Dreamcatcher) 6 - Kick It (NCT 127) 5 - Cool (Weki Meki) 4 - La Di Da (Everglow) 3 - Mago (GFriend) 2 - Tag Me (Weeekly) 1 - Scream (Dreamcatcher)

#musicinnow #bovulen #my_dane #headchef_to_pastry_dep "...your last wishes is nothing but wit..." Ebba groen (green) - "Mental Icetime": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwN4XcK50eY (the refrain is used, after 1:48) BÖVULEN - MY DANE "My dane, my dane, my danish 'feature', on this final cleaning-station, the fires are constantly lit. On this final cleaning-station, your last wishes is nothing but wit. All those old fantasies, will be 'pushed' right out, the quicker - you will re-e-join - and 're-fit'." Coming back with an explanation on this one, later... - - - BACK! (Next day, Thursday 21:st of November, 13.41) I wrote a short "version" of Joakim Thaastroem's "Mental Icetime" from his second album (Love & Uproars) in his first music-band (he has been in several, no singing solo) "Ebba Groen", released in 1981 - today that's 38 years ago, phew... ...and here I "go into" (in reality, with my purpose as love and my "u-roars" towards todays "ruling reign", as the tiger that "can give") music I listen too as a young man, teenager and local discjockey in the swe so called "High Stadium" (7-9 grades, 13-15 yrs olds) - even we listen to such good songslike Thaastroem's rebellious lyrics, in 88-91. The world is corrupt broken and full of lies - with powers in science/politics/doctorism that killed myself in chemical warfare inbetween 2009-2013 - when/where I started my resurrection out of dead marshes (forced into zombie-mode, with forced chem-injections in my ass-angle/rear-ranger's favourite angel) and come up un a shore, over my own 1-year's recreation of my own mind/conscience. Back to the topic! The lyrics is re-writtten for(e) HOM and his "homofiy-e-ring" of the world population (UNESCO-defence) - he's the opposite of myself ("Rudolph" is drunk, you know - Dean Martin knew) and in sweden (despite of his looks) he's a so called "danish whore", or as Shakespear (he could shake, a lot) put it, he's not an adult royal... he's always prince Hamlet - if he's the "christian tyrant", as it also is called - famous dane too, in swe history-books. The dane, need to be "taken down" - and in this song-lyrics, he's nothing but a danish "push-in" (werner & werner is two famous chefs, that may have revealed they were germans that "sold-their-ri") in hell-district, sold himself to satan's church - went in through an imaginary pastry-ring that only danish braids into wiener-breads (with "chocolade" as their 'feature' for his disgraceful taste in "cook-streaks", as an immortal-believing "stroke-fantast"). So imagine a rolled-up (and chocolate-filled) piece of sheet (a tool to decorate pastry in a bakery-man's business), and a lonely headchef that pushing HOM further on... to rejoin his brown man's humour, on that "mark" ("ground" in swe, or "den mark" - if it is specified where to "land in psychiatry", which is a famous "expression" for lost men, in these d'itch-fights) where the pastry-department has his "shameful dish" he must be able to eat, plenty of... for the rest of his life. He's "been there, done that" is a storytelling about the danish wienerbreads, their healing arts in illminded men's bad "taste" as "ringbearer" or living with an own lie/manipulation of truth - to family and "friends". The do-nut is easy to talk about - and roll around your finger while you "brag", as it's called. But can you be that "cocky" - describing your own healing of your own rectum-ring... while eating the actual daanish chocolate-pastry? I'm the one exploding in the machine below - you're the one dying in the same place - over and over again, and "taking shitty damages", in your beliefs 'HOM rule', "because we can" (on a Y-question) or something like that. Fix your own "a-hole", it's in the wrong domain - lettin' in party-visitors noone wish or wants to "go in" anywhere in your own bodybuilding. I'm demonized - by YOU! Not the opposite way... Everyone who have tried to go against you and your imaginary 'ruler' has died - for 60 years in a row (since UNESCO-organ was constructed). All manhood/fatherships is/are dead, stone-dead... an "illness/disease" I now shoot back at your "top-elite" (UN), with my Obelix-cannon - in a very "hidden war", where you "message" on my inside - as always... in these assa-sin-ations, that has been going on for a very long period. I've been under attack since summer of 2006 - 13 years ago now, since a first "axe of evil" that made myself go down after 3 years battle against something I never had experienced (and therefore am weak fore, your black arts/witchcraft). In the autumn 2014, the second axe of evil started to fall downwards - but this time I prepared myself... by being inside that hell-institution, where noone comes back from. I know it's a labaratorium-rat facility. I've seen it and know what "they" do - at age "42"... remember that. I'm also heating myself with my own provisorical fireplace - it's nice to know how it feel to be seated 'in front' of it - that only those can do, that remember the times before hell on earth, when they wherebehind that fire that is so warming - in cold moments.

Lesser-Known Girl Groups You Should Check Out
1. GIRLKIND
First on the list is GIRLKIND! This is a four member girl group that all the admins really like. They come from a poor company, which unfortunately has made some people send them hate, but every single one of these girls is so talented and they do their best with what they have. They do a lot of dance covers, like their recent relay dance of girl group songs from 2010, as well as vocal and dance covers! They tend to reply to comments and interact with fans as well! Medic Jin has such an incredible voice and every single member can dance. It’s sad that they don’t have the funds to show their talent to the world, because they genuinely have so much potential. Their most recent comeback is “Future” and it’s one of my favorites by them, go check it out!
Tumblr media
2. Saturday
Second on the list we have Saturday! Saturday is a (now) five member girl group under SD Entertainment. For this group, their songs definitely aren’t for everyone: they’re a mix of cute and silly, but it’s a sound that I personally love! My favorite song by them is “Wifi,” it’s just so catchy and it makes me smile every time I listen to it! They recently posted a dance cover of “Kissing You” with their lightstick that was so adorable, and Haneul, who is all around talented AF, posted a short NCT 127 “Kick It” dance Cover! You can learn more about them by watching them on Fact iN Star. Their last comeback was with “BByong” and it looks like we’ll be getting a comeback soon as some of the girls have changed their hair colors!
Tumblr media
3. Nature
Third we have one of my current favorite groups, Nature! Nature is a nine member girl group under N.CH World. They’ve had a couple lineup changes and, most recently, added Sohee, who some of you might recognize from Produce 101! This group is known for their kind of weird, unique yet catchy songs, like “Some (You’ll Be Mine)” and my personal favorite, “I’m So Pretty.” This group has some dancing machines and they post a lot of dance covers, Haru in particular. She just recently posted a dance cover of MC Hammer’s “It’s All Good,” and a dance practice all my friends love is Saebom, Aurora, and Haru’s cover of “Chun-Li.” You can watch them on Weekly Idol, Fact iN Star, KBS’s Try Not To Sing Challenge, Pops In Seoul, Car Talk, and Idol League. They had a reality show with Mnet, but I cannot for the life of me find where to watch it. They upload a lot of short videos to their YouTube channel, some with subs and others without. They also had a pop cover project pre-debut that is incredible! Their latest Korean comeback was with “Oopsie! My Bad” and “Bing Bing,” a side track the promoted! They’re a really amazing group that I’ve totally fallen for!
Tumblr media
4. Elris
This next group is an older group, as Elris debuted under Hunus Entertainment in 2017. They recently added two members, Chaejeong (who you might recognize from Produce 48) and EJ, making them a seven member girl group. They debuted with a rather cute concept that they changed up a bit with their last comeback. Sohee, the leader, is probably the most known member of the group. You might know her from her solo song “Hurry Up” with BOL4, she also did some solo things pre-debut. They post both dance and vocal covers on their YouTube channel, as well as vlogs from the members. You can learn more about them by watching Pops in Seoul, Fact iN Star, Broken Karaoke, After School Club, their Weekly Idol episode with Golden Child, and this actually helpful (un)helpful guide to Elris. They also recently appeared on dancing idol! Their most recent comeback was with “Jackpot” and it was really good, be sure to give them a listen!
Tumblr media
5. 3YE
Next is 3YE (pronounced third eye) and, even though I think they’re really gaining in popularity especially overseas, I still wanted to include them. 3YE is a three member girl group under GH Entertainment with a criminal concept! Their dances really make them stand out because of the cheer power, and their music would appeal to anyone who likes more hard-hitting music or a typical boy group sound. On their YouTube, you can find Q&A videos (subbed!) and lots of covers! Unfortunately they haven’t had the chance to be on many shows yet, but you can learn more about them through this interview, this (un)helpful guide to 3YE, and this Pop in Seoul video. They have three songs, the most recent being “Queen” as well as “OOMM (Out Of My Mind)” and “DMT (Do My Thing)”.
Tumblr media
6. ANS
Next we have ANS, an eight member girl group under ANS Entertainment that debuted in 2019. It’s a bit of a joke in the fandom that they add members every comeback, because, well, it’s kind of true so far. They gained a lot of attention after their comeback “Say My Name” in January, although some people were accusing them of copying Everglow. Thankfully, most of the attention that came from this was positive. This is another group under a poor company trying their best, especially because a lot of the girls have tried to debut before, but I think they did amazing with their last comeback and I’m really hoping their career is able to take off. Also, their dance skills are GREAT. They have so many members who excel in dancing and even choreograph themselves, please watch Bian, Dalyn, and Raon’s “I Like It” choreo and be blessed. They also post vocal covers through their cover project and their dance practice in hanbok was ADORABLE. They went to Fact iN Star during their debut, so you can learn about the members other than J and Haena there. This (un)helpful guide to ANS is really great as well! These girls are incredibly talented, check out both “Boom Boom” and “Say My Name” live stages to see what I mean!
Tumblr media
7. Cignature
Okay so Cignature has actually been getting quite a lot of attention since their debut this year, but I couldn’t help but to add them here. Cignature is a seven member girl group under J9 Entertainment. Five of the members were in the girl group Good Day and appeared on The Unit, so you might see some familiar faces! I feel like a broken record, but I’m serious when I once again say that the members are SO TALENTED. They sing live for every performance and even during some dance challenges! On their YouTube, they do a lot of dance covers and they have a lot of short videos called Cignature Piece that are, unfortunately, not subbed but are still fun to watch! You can learn more about them through After School Club, this complimenting challenge, this newsaid interview, this skylife series, Broken Karaoke, and Fact iN Star released a dance video, so they might be appearing there soon as well! They came back with a second debut single ASSA after Nun Nu Nan Na, which is about not caring if you’re an outsider and being yourself!
Tumblr media
8. April
April is another group that falls into the area of known, but kind of underrated. They’re a six member girl group under DSP Entertainment that debuted in 2015, and although they had some lineup changes early on (KARD’s Somin used to be in the group) they’ve stayed six members for a while. You probably know Naeun, even if you don’t know that you know her: she’s acted in “A-Teen” and “Extraordinary You” as well as been MC for multiple music shows. The members have also done OST’s and have been in commercials. Somehow, though, Apink still manages to fall under the radar. Their last comeback, Oh! My Mistake was their most popular song (and their best mini album, in my opinion), but then they disappeared for a while. Their songs like April Story and The Blue Bird had more of a soft, dreamy concept and, in my opinion, should have gotten them some wins. Their reality show Here Goes April right after their debut (before Rachel and Chaekyung joined and Somin and Hyunjoo left) does have English subs, but unfortunately most of the short videos they upload now do not. You can learn more about April through their Celuv TV appearance, A Song For You, and their Pops in Seoul interview. Since they aren’t super popular overseas, it is hard to find English subs for them, but Chaewon does have her own YouTube where she posts covers and a few vlog-type videos, and Naeun has appeared on a lot of shows on her own! April will finally be making a comeback this month on the 22nd with their mini album Da Capo, so keep an eye out and please give them lots of support!
Tumblr media
There are so many other groups that I love, like Favorite, PinkFantasy, PurpleBeck, ShaFLA, Sunny Hill, PLAYBACK, Sonamoo, NeonPunch, DreamNote, Ariaz, Limesoda, Laboum, Hashtag, and H.U.B! There also groups like gugudan, GWSN, and DIA who are known but need more recognition. If you guys find this helpful, I’d love to do another list to bring light to my girls! - Admin Kiwi

Recent Girl Group Comebacks You Should Check Out
Heads up, this is gonna be LONG. Since I missed March, I’m going to run through a few March comebacks before I get into all the April songs!
ITZY - Wannabe
You all know this comeback. It was incredible. Ryujin’s shoulder move killed it all. All the songs on the mini album are great. Do I really need to say anymore?
Tumblr media
Favorite - Lie
Favorite went semi-viral with “Loca” before kind of disappearing for a year, but they came back with “Lie” in March. If you liked “Loca” then you’ll enjoy “Lie” as it has a similar vibe. It’s a really good song and it’s a shame that this song hasn’t gotten as much recognition, because they really deserve it! Go give the song a listen, you won’t regret it!
Tumblr media
Yezi - Home
You might recognize Yezi from Unpretty Rapstar or from her former girl group, Fiestar. She’s more known for her rap songs, but this time she mixed it up with home! It’s a really good song with a softer vibe and a powerful chorus.
Tumblr media
Sejeong - Plant
I’m not sure if you guys know, but all of us admins adore Sejeong and absolutely LOVED this album. I bought a signed copy myself, and she actually won a music show award with this song! It’s a soft ballad so I know it’s not for everyone, but I’d recommend you all give it a listen. It really strikes you in the heart and makes you think as you listen. It’s very melancholy but inspiring at the same time.
Tumblr media
AleXa - Do or Die
I’m sure most of you have heard of AleXa by now. She’s a dancing powerhouse and I love watching her live stages. She’s doing really well and if you like more “loud” sounds like Loona’s “So What” you’ll like this song.

Now that we’re done with March, let’s get on to April!
(G)I-DLE - Oh My God
Again, I’m pretty sure all of you have listened to this song by now. They really said gay rights! If you haven’t looked at the lyrics for the English version yet, you definitely should. That being said, they killed it once again.

Cignature - Assa
I have been gushing about Cignature since their debut so I’m sure I sound like a broken record, but they’re incredible! This song is about being proud to be yourself and not minding being an outsider, and like with their debut, they’ve blended their cute image with a girl crush side, powerful dancing, and incredible live vocals. The song and music video just make me so happy!

DALsooobin - Dive
DALsooobin, or Subin of Dalshabet, just released another self composed song. This is a similar vibe to Yezi’s home, a slower song that is also uplifting and shows off her vocal talent!
Tumblr media
Keembo - Thank You, Anyway
Keembo is a duo made of former Spica members Boa and Bo Hyung. This song is also quite somber, but the vocals are incredible, as expected from the vocalists of Spica! I really miss Spica and I hope you give this song a listen!

Apink - Dumhdurum
We got our yearly Apink comeback! As always they never disappoint, this song is so addicting and the aesthetic is absolutely gorgeous. If you haven’t listened to this song yet, do yourself a favor. You’ll fall in love.

BVNDIT - Children
So this is actually a prerelease leading up to their comeback, but it’s just so good and I wanted to share it with you all. It’s exactly my type of song and really gives me Hoody and Oohyo vibes. It’s a slower song, but their vocals are on point and the dance is actually really cool (I believe two of the members choreographed it).

April - Lalalilala
We were all so excited when we heard that April would be coming back this month, and they didn’t disappoint! This song calls back to Kara’s songs while keeping April’s vocal-heavy style and it’s seriously a bop! I’ve been listening to it nonstop, as well as the rest of the songs on the mini album! Once I get over this writers block, I’ll hopefully be able to write something for them because the music video really inspired me. Anyway, please go give this song a listen!
Tumblr media
HA:TFELT - 1719
HA:TFELT, or Yeeun from Wonder Girls, just released a full album and lots of music videos for the songs on the album. There’s Satellite, Sweet Sensation, Solitude, Life Sucks (tw: this mv has blood), and most recently Cigar. Every single song on the album is incredible and so beautifully artistic and I hope you’ll all take some time to check it out!
Tumblr media
Chungha - Stay Tonight
Another prerelease single and oh my god, Chungha killed it with this song, but did we really expect any less? Do yourself a favor and listen to this song, as well as watch a few choreo videos. The dance is incredible.
Tumblr media
Oh My Girl - Nonstop
Oh My Girl is one of my favorite girl groups of all time, and they did not disappoint with this comeback! My bias Mimi seriously killed the raps and the entire song is just so addicting to listen to! “Nonstop” also debuted at #1 on the charts, their first song to do so! I’m happy to see them getting more attention both in South Korea and internationally, they seriously deserve it.
Tumblr media
GWSN - Bazooka
GWSN never disappoint! Since their debut, they’ve quickly become my favorite newer group. “Bazooka” is a fun, upbeat song perfect for the spring, and all three b-side songs on the mini album are fantastic! If you haven’t listened to a GWSN mini album, you absolutely have to do yourself a favor and check them out! Their vocals, visuals, and even physical albums are just top notch.

endless night, assa, wannabe, and kick it (and maybe dumhdurum to an extent) remain the boppingest songs released since the end of february... sigh... february still had more just-plain-fun songs per week than the rest of the year has had per month ugh
i get that things are weird and bad right now so maybe some groups are doing things that are a little more mellow or minimal or not as in-your-face because of that, but what i need right now is stuff that’s actually extremely in-my-face haha, i need the most escapism possible, i need stuff that makes me forget i’m a human being, and there hasnt really been much that came out in march and april that’s done it for me, unfortunately. february was so dense that i got a new favorite song every couple days, it seems

so okay when i clicked on bvndit jungle, i had relatively low expectations... not cause i thought it would be bad, but just cause i thought it would be “fine”, you know? a lot of stuff recently has just been fine, and like i thought hocus pocus was just fine when it came out, and i thought dumb was just fine when it came out, and then when i heard they were coming back in february and they put out cool i was taken aback cause i dont enjoy that song at all lmao.. and then their recent pre-release thing that was an animated video that i didnt even watch.. i was just like “yeah idk, this’ll probably be fine, hopefully”. and on first listen, it was. when it ended i didnt think it was incredible but i didnt dislike it either. it was what i was expecting back in february (cause i didnt know that cool was gonna be a special thing that isnt counted as a comeback).
but after a couple more listens i realized i was kinda digging it lol, and then listening to it more after realizing that only confirmed that feeling haha, i like jungle. i think its their best comeback so far, if we dont count dramatic, of course. it’s got a really strong beat throughout the whole thing, the same beat very prominently through the whooole song, but like that’s not really a bad thing, it’s definitely a foot-tapping head-nodding kind of song haha. and the way the dance break transitions to the final chorus is so good, that’s what’s been getting me actually. the final chorus has left me going “okay! damn! yeah man alright! they’re not playing around, that’s good!” i wonder how it’ll stack up to my other favorite songs of the year, i’m not sure, i dont think it’s in my top 10 at the moment though... but it’s one of the better comebacks in a while i think... in my opinion it’s the most solid comeback since assa
