The #AskDontAssume campaign itself comes across as presumptuous as if most abled folk don’t already ask very invasive questions, and go by their assumptions and confirmation bias anyway.

The Government is the worst for attacking disabled people and enabling society to do it too.

There’s a difference between someone wanting to be able to help if needed, and those that feel entitled to another person’s personal and medical situation. How often do folk with canes and other aids get asked by strangers “WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU” like it’s their business?

I understand wanting to raise awareness on disabilities and how they affect us, but it puts the pressure on disabled people to be subjected to further questions and scrutiny to “enlighten” abled people. It’s always on us.

Most questions come from a place of assumption.

Blue Badge holders already get questions.

Disabled folk who need benefits and additional help already get questions.

Young people who use canes, wheelchairs or priority seats already get asked questions.

We already get questioned by the public because they assume.
