bucktommy orchestra/musicians au
Don't mind me but I'm going to use this as a convenient moment to plug my Buddie orchestra AU, Play me like a fiddle. Anyways, thank you for asking about my little niche interest!
Tommy is a concert pianist and professional organist in New York City, playing at Carnegie Hall for the first time in his career. He's been invited to play Saint-Saen's Organ Symphony with the New York Philharmonic, a piece that could very well take his career international like he's been dreaming of
While he's there, he meets Evan Buckley, a young cellist (Buck will never be anything but a cellist to me), who is set to be playing Kol Nidrei by Bruch in the same concert. Him and Buck are given adjoining rooms backstage. They meet twice at rehearsal and are friendly enough, but don't have much to do with one another otherwise.
The night of the first concert, Tommy can hear Buck warming up in the room next door. He listens for the first few minutes, content to just loose himself in Buck's music, but he eventually gains some courage and goes next door to talk to Buck. They fall into an easy dynamic, and Buck begins to look forward to his chats with Tommy before they go on. They wait in the wings to listen to one another play during the concerts.
At the end of the run, Buck asks Tommy if he's planning on staying in New York. He says he's found a programme of cello and piano duets, and would love to work on some of them with Tommy. Tommy agrees, and the two of them go out for coffee a few weeks later to begin preparations, neither of them realising the other has it planned as a date until they're kissing at the end.
A year later, they debut their first ever concert of duets, and are immediately picked up for a recording deal. Both men agree to stay in New York for the time being and work on their music together. Tommy begins to teach Buck piano after he hears Buck playing around on it one evening, claiming the man has a natural talent, and Buck repays him by teaching Tommy cello. He's dreadful at it but that doesn't matter, they have the time of their lives and become a well known couple in the New York music scene.
Send me a ship and an AU and I'll tell you 5 things that would happen!

okay okay what instruments does the old guard play
YESSSS as a musician i absolutely adore this thank you for asking 💜💜💜💜
Andy: all i could think of was the digeridoo
Quỳnh: i think she’s on the keys but also enjoys the synth
Lykon: he’s one of those absolutely insane woodwind players who knows how to play six instruments and is constantly switching between them in the pit
Joe: i started laughing with this one but he’s definitely that one acoustic guitar bro. Nicky can’t get enough of it
Nicky: i feel like he’d actually really thrive on the trumpet. same personality as a violinist and then he’s in the back where he gets to make snarky comments
Booker: the cello. of course.
Nile: she’s a percussionist! specializing in marimba and xylophone

every single reference to christianity i can find in bears' in trees songs because. yeah. fight me
uhhh idk why i'm doing this at 1am but enjoy ig
just five more minutes:
4am: "for god's sake it's only 4am"
fly out to alaska:
"well moses saw God in a burning bush, so i'm praying please"
bits n' pieces:
fyaaa (bandcamp exclusive): "praying to saint jude all of our lives"
i see blue:
nights like these: "stop asking st anthony"
EDITED: two of my very lovely friends, berry and jamie 1, pointed out that "mother help me, madonna and child" is a reference to mary and Jesus. thank you guys!!
i want to feel chaotic:
Tumblr media
rust: "a broken piece/of God's great plan"
"stop me eating the sand/stop me feeling so goddamm bad"
keep me safe:
laugh/cry: "demons of the soul"
and everybody else smiled back:
heaven sent is a coffee cup: ..."heaven" (repeated throughout the song)
mossy cobblestone (kind of): "stained glass" - stained glass windows are often found in churches
"my body is a temple" - common idiom with religious connotations
"and God knows i'll live forever/or die in the attempt"
confidant: "but because you were my home/built on stone instead of sand" - reference to the wise man and foolish man, a parable Jesus told in the new testament (in the bible)
little cellist: "“even Jesus Christ himself needed help to bear his cross”"
sun machine: "i cradle God on my walk to u n i"
"she preaches gospel truth down the hall"
if i just ask politely: " you tell me you're going to church in the morning"
precipitation:
"they said the clouds opened up/and the heavens came down" (technically it's an idiom but leave me alone idc /lh)
every moonbeam every fever dream:
kind love: "set 'em in stained glass windows/build cathedrals to our flaws/the spire's crowned by galaxies"
doing this again: "oh [my] God we're doing this again"
"my mother 'cites a rosary downstairs"
"but Lord these blesséd words fail me"
how to stay shining:
bart's bike: "find heaven sent in brooklyn street" - a reference to heaven sent is a coffee cup
how to build an ocean: instructions:
i can't see anything i don't like about you: "when i'm good, good god, i'm great"
"i am everyone and everything all of the time/oh god i'll be..."
all you get is confetti: "you are magdelene, mary" - mary magdelene is a woman from the bible, who was possessed by demons until Jesus told them to leave her alone. she then became a follower of Christ and was with him until his death. in all four gospels she is cited as one of the women, or the only woman, to be the first people to see Jesus' empty tomb. she also is the first person said to see Jesus resurrected. he speaks to her and she does not recognise him until she says his name.
henry says: "but/and i'll make snow angels out of all their bad dreams"
hot chocolate: "and if it snows right now that would be heaven/i mean honestly, that would be heaven"
nothing cures melancholy like looking at maps: "praying the police won't call on us"
we don't speak anymore: "we can part any sea/that surrounds us" - in the old testament, moses leads the israelites out of egypt by parting the red sea. it is a miracle that God performs through him. moses is also mentioned in fly out to alaska (above).
unreleased songs:
tea: "whether it's the devil's water or the holy water/your essence bleeds out and you diffuse"

Clint/Coulson, Portland
Vacation.
Portland.
Phil and Clint and Lucky and a slowly but lovingly restored Craftsman house.
Phil smiles as he sips his coffee and eyes the freshly primed walls of the formal dining room. It's just off the living room and through the currently empty door jamb (Phil and Clint are going to the reuse store to check for door options this afternoon), Phil watches Lucky lift his head slightly, then drop it back to his paws with a small, contented sigh.
From the former bedroom off the living room in the direction Lucky is faced there comes the first, careful notes of Clint settling in for a cello session. Phil walks through the living room, pausing to scritch Lucky behind the ears. He stands in the doorway of Clint's practice room and takes him in.
Clint's eyes are closed, shoulders relaxed. He's wearing track pants and a purple tank top. His feet are bare, and his hearing aids are resting on the windowsill that faces the street. He never plays with his hearing aids in. He can hear the cello clearly without them as close as he needs to be to play, and he prefers to play by touch alone anyway. It's how he was taught, originally, by Bethany the Bearded Lady.
Phil makes a mental note to text Bethany while they're visiting. She lives on the Oregon Coast, running a Freak Show Museum. She doesn't know yet that this is the last vacation before Phil and Clint move out for good. Six months from now, they've decided. The house isn't nearly finished, but it's getting harder and harder to leave each time they come.
It's their own space, this house and this city, where people squint at them sometimes but can't figure out why they look familiar as they wander the farmer's market in regular clothes.
Clint plays a set of scales slowly, and Phil thumps his heel on the floor to get him to open his eyes.
"Play me something," Phil signs.
Clint grins and nods, playing his scales a little more quickly. Phil turns back towards the formal dining room to get to work and pauses when Clint starts playing a song. It takes a moment for him to figure out the song, having to translate it from cello and then back.
"Life's Been Good" by Joe Walsh meanders through the house as Phil puts down his coffee and crouches down to open the paint.

Here’s the thing:
Teen Wolf Season 3 Episode 8 ‘Visionary’ is a GREAT episode! Deucalion origin story? Backdoor introduction to the Nemeton? The parallels between Scott and Derek? AMAZING! Oh my god Peter and Gerard’s manipulative storytelling side by side with what really occurred? I could KISS the writers on the MOUTH (with tongue)
Unfortunately, they chose to make Derek’s first girlfriend a cellist, the instrument I’ve spent 18 years of my life studying, and every time she plays 6 different notes without moving a finger, I want to start violently and ravenously eating the television

Before ω-3 was formed (or was never formed) , what do you think the members were doing, how their life was, etc?
DJ:
Dropped out of college or high school to pursue music (and bc school had grown to be way too detrimental for his mental health between failing grades and feeling very insecure) . This resulted in a big fight with his mom that ended in him being kicked out. Even if she took it back or never told him she wanted him gone, he took it as a sign to leave.
Cue the couchsurfing. He stayed with friends and strangers, and in hotels as he perfected his craft and performed gigs at clubs. Some of these living situations he ended up in were not the best and a few were probably dangerous or traumatizing.
Fortunately his sister, too, did allow them to stay with her for some time. Maybe it makes for sense for him to just stay with her but idk I haven’t decided and they don’t get along the best so I think he only decided to swallow his pride and ask her for help when everything went to shit.
He also took up a couple of odd jobs, taking whatever he could to get a little more cash.
The whole… everything started like 2-3 years before the band formed.
Eventually he saved up for somewhere to live…maybe. But he found an ad for a position in a band or was approached after a show from a certain cello-playing fish…
He accepted to meet up. It almost didn’t happen, though, because he overslept misremembering the time as pm when it was am… fortunately he woke up in the afternoon and called Blade to meet up then. Their introduction was rushed and messy but they were able to join!
Had he missed it, though… I think his life could have turned out alright still? It’d be a lot rougher and he’d never reach the level of fame he has now but I think he’d manage and get out of the shitty situation he was in.
Timpanist
Honestly, life has been good to him- esp compared to the other two- the past few years. He had grown past some rougher teen years to be a decent person with decent mental health and a decent ability to play drums.
He was just kind of… lost? He felt like something was missing. Some attention, or just the ability to really do what he wanted.
Another issue is that we was kind of homesick. He had left the Trout Jigokudani to pursue his dreams… or just like, a better career in a more modern, urbanized setting.
Was part of an orchestra but left bc it wasn’t really his thing. Then he joined a more traditional salmon music group, performing for festivals and ceremonies. He was relatively successful and satisfied but he just felt like nothing was really what he truly wanted. Like he hadn’t struck gold yet.
The other two (or one of em, probably) came across this music group somehow- probably at an event or nearby where they played. After the show on his way home the two stopped him to ask about the band.
It took some thinking over, but he obliged. Rest is history.
Also, he invited Faith to live with him once he settled into the role.
If the band never happened he’d have stuck with his old gig, or moved back to his hometown. I’d like to think he’d find something to fulfill him but maybe he would not, and become disillusioned with his life.
Cellist
Like I’ve said before he had struggled with his mental health a lot. In the years or maybe just months preceding the band’s debut he was at a low point. Not the lowest, maybe, but… Just kind of existing.
He, too, was part of some other band. He cycled through a lot of different gigs but never stayed because he often fought and just didn’t mix with a lot of people. Only one lasted for some time and even then they eventually had their falling out.
There was also solo work, composing for others or herself.
She was struggling again with her anxiety and other issues, and at that point it was starting to become too much to bear.
And so came the shot in the dark. When Faith missed the og time she almost fucking lost it, she was torn and pretty much hopeless, so it’s a relief that they ended up meeting up in the end.
Had Faith not done so? Things would not have ended well here.
Maybe the two of them would’ve been able to continue as a duo but I doubt ω-3 would be as iconic or survive as long as it has. I don’t know what Blade would do if it hadn’t worked out.
Actually, I do. And I’ll leave it at that.

It’s hard to imagine Shiloh having sex with anyone lmaoo she’s so pure and innocent
True but maybe that's just her evil plan lmaoo
but tbh I kinda see her as almost like Daphne from Bridgerton, like wants to find love so much and has rose tinted glasses but starts to mature into a baddie lmaoo
