In June of this year, I had the privilege of speaking with perhaps one of the bravest men in extreme metal, Ashmedi, who formed the black metal band Melechesh in the holiest city on Earth, Jerusalem. Prior to witnessing a standard stellar performance from the band at their show with Belphegor, Ashmedi and I discussed when how far along Melechesh are with new material, the graphic novel based on his life, "Emissary Of The Anunnaki: The Tale Of The Fire King" and what he thinks of the American embassy being moved to Jerusalem.

Former MELECHESH bassist, Scorpios, has posted on his Facebook Page, the following statement, concerning the MELECHESH‘s latest effort “Enki”, which was released in early 2015 via Nuclear Blast.

Scorpios – Melechesh Era

Former MELECHESH bassist, Scorpios stated:

“Sometimes the truth hurts, and yes, this may seem like a low blow, but this is how it works.

The last Melechesh album, “Enki” which I recorded bass on, boasted about the drums being recorded by “Lord Curse’ who in fact did not record the drums, the actual drummer was Samuel Santiago. After the drums were recorded, there was conflict in the “quote unquote” band, and Ashmedi / Murat George Cenan thought it was a great idea, out of spite to rip Sam’s efforts away to work away and to call his own only to give credit to Saro/Lord Curse and try to make me and everyone involved sign a contract to never talk about this.

…Needless to say I never signed the contract, and it is pretty obvious Saro is not playing drums like Samuel did on the album. (Listen to Gorod and listen to what Saro has done on drums since the work he did in Melechesh in the early 90’s).

This, my friends, are what the majority of the music scene consists of, and this is why I like to keep the music I do separate from such mentalities.

In the end, nobody really gives a shit, but I have a good history of calling out bullshit when I smell it, and it’s a habit I will never kick. I have kept the personal issues out of this post, and I can’t simply make this shit up. I personally have had a hard time listening to this album since i even began working on it, ans pretty fucking sick of credit to an artist such as the drummer gone false.”

Samuel Santiago, the real drummer on Enki, adds:

“Finally, the truth is told! Tony and I have been screwed so much on this story, and we’re not the only ones. I’ve spent time and money for this band, I worked my ass off to make this album’s drum sound as good as possible, I’ve met the nicest people ever in Greece and now I can say it loud: I have recorded drums on the the latest Melechesh album “Enki” during summer 2014 at Devasound studio in Athens/Greece with Fotis Benardo, and I never get paid and never get any credit for it. I hope this revelation will be worthy. Feel free to spread the word and have a great day guys!”

Ashmedi - Return to Mesopotamia [Promo] (1994)

И правда, когда включаешь очередной релиз, записанный на кассетник, в ту же секунду перед глазами появляется картина, где ты бредешь вдоль зеленых лугов на встречу заходящему солнцу, а сзади тебя виднеются леса. Это повторяется почти всегда, при прослушивании “классического“ данжен синта.

Данный релиз, а именно “Ashmedi - Return to Mesopotamia [Promo]-(1994)”- полная противоположность средневековой классике, и в сравнении с ней, звучит достаточно оригинально. Музыка родом из Израиля. Это иск��ючение из правила существовало в первой половине девяностых, и носило название Ashmedi. Автор-основатель блэк метал-группы Melechesh.
