Keerthy Suresh set to enter Bollywood

South actress Keerthy Suresh will be making her Hindi film debut opposite Ajay Devgn in Amit Sharma's directorial.

Ajay essays the role of Syed Abdul Rahim in the film, and Keerthy will be seen essaying the role of Rahim's wife.

"I'm elated and honoured to be a part of such a great story. This film is a forgotten chapter in the Indian history and I am glad that the makers have chosen to tell this story. This is a film that will make each and every Indian proud," Keerthy said in a statement.

"I believe this is a story that doesn't belong to any specific region or language of India but is a great Indian story that the world should know. With all my past films, I have consciously chosen to do roles that challenge me and add to the narrative of the film. When the makers came to me with this role, I was quite intrigued by it and felt that I would be able to pull it off.

"Ajay Devgn is one of the most talented superstars that we have in our country. I have seen a lot of his films and it is an honour for me to share screen space with an actor of his calibre," she added.

Film and TV productions are resuming slowly after restrictions have been lifted amid lockdown due to the novel Coronavirus. Production houses are suffering losses due to schedule delays and many have even dismantled some of their sets because it remains unused. Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan was supposed to begin the next schedule in March. The team had begun making makeshift stadium in Mumbai for football scenes. Reportedly, over Rs. 7 crores have been spent on the set.

But, now they have dismantled the football arena set and will rebuild it before the schedule begins in November.  Given the rains would destroy the set completely; the makers decided to pull it down and will have it rebuilt from October onwards right before the next schedule. The rebuilding will also add to the expenses. Since the shooting is still pending, the makers have shifted the release to August 2021.

Maidaan is a story of one of the finest football coaches that emerged from India, the one who put India on the world map. It is based on the Golden years of Indian Football and will see Ajay Devgn essay the role of the legendary coach Syed Abdul Rahim who is also known as the father of Indian football for his achievements in making India a top nation in Football during his lifetime.

Produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, and Arunava Joy Sengupta, Maidaan is directed by Amit Sharma, screenplay, and dialogues are written by Saiwyn Quadros and Ritesh Shah respectively. The film will release on August 13, 2021.

Maidaan poster: Ajay Devgn shares muddy on-field pic as he plays football coach Syed Abdul Rahim - bollywood

Ajay Devgn has shared the teaser poster of his upcoming sports biopic, Maidaan. The poster doesn’t show the faces of the lead cast but only several pairs of legs standing on a muddy football field while playing the sport in rain. Ajay will portray the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, who served as coach and manager of Indian football team from 1950 until his death in 1963. He shared the poster on Twitter with the caption, “#MaidaanTeaser - Get ready for Maidaan! 27th November 2020.” Many fans of the actor asked him to release the film around Christmas. A fan wrote, “Please make it Xmas”. Ajay Devgn Is Going To Start The Maidaan Shoots, Will Be Seen As Football Coach Syed Abdul Rahim

Next on the line for Ajay Devgan is Maidaan that will be directed by Badhaai Ho fame director Amit Sharma. Backdrop of the movie will be a time between 1952 and 1962 which is considered as golden era for Indian football. In this movie, Ajay is expected to play role of a football coach named Syed Abdul Rahim. He is known to be the coach who has shaped the Indian modern football.

Sharing the poster on social media, Ajay Devgan has declared that shooting of the movie has already begun. In this movie, National Award winning South Indian actress Keerthy Suresh is expected to be seen opposite Ajay Devgan.

Boney Kapoor and Zee Studious will present the movie while it is produced by Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta and Akash Chawla. Screenplay for the movie has been written by Saiwyn Quadros. Credits for the dialogues should be given to Ritesh Shah. Release of the movie will be seen in next year.

Simultaneously Ajay Devgn is also shooting for Bhuj: The Pride of India. Here, Ajay is playing the role of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik. During Indo-Pak war in 1972, he has been in-charge of Bhuj air base. Sanjay Dutt is part of the movie also. Munnabhai actor is expected to be seen as Ranchordas Svabhai Ravai who has helped the Indian army. Sonakshi Sinha and Parineeti Chopra are part of the movie too. Abhishek Dudhaiya is directing the movie and it will release on 14th August, 2020.

However, next release of Ajay Devgan at the box office will be Om Raut’s Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior. It is a period war drama that is made in a huge budget of 150 crore. Saif Ali Khan and Kajol will be seen in this movie too.
