TW for art: Blood, decapitation, a bit blurry
My sister and I did a challenge where we could only use one colour of the others choosing, and and shades (like greys and blacks).
She chose the colour red for me, and this was the result.
Is it great to my standards: HELL NO, but I’m working on doing more art and then posting it :)
here was the process:

Not quite ready for Doom Patrol to end so I took a break and decided to make some fanart. Cliff and Larry turned out pretty good but Jane and Rita are not my proudest moment.

SNOWGLOBE!! 🤍❄️✨
LOTS of Snowglobe! >:D
❄️🤍❄️🤍❄️🤍❄️
So, basically!! I have this reeeally big sketchbook (well, big compared to my small hands-) and decided to totally fill one of the pages with SNOWGLOBE! Bc she's the cutest lamb ever >w<
Now, since the paper is mixed media, I decided to use multiple things to make this!! I used micron pens to line art this, and sharpies to do the outlines around the line art! Then, I colored it with alcohol markers (ohuhu,) and shaded it/did some of the other coloring with colored pencils (arteza). :D Then I also used white gel pens to add the sparkles to her eyes ^w^
I'm so SO proud of this!! :D 💕✨ Here's what each sketch is x3
❄️🤍❄️🤍❄️🤍❄️ (btw these are in the wrong order bc i made this description on Instagram ^^;)
1. Just a pose for Snowglobe. She's really sweet, gentle, and rather shy. ^w^
2. A n g y sheep 🐑
I've never drawn her angry before soooo... xD She doesn't look threatening at all. Just a little lamb 🐑✨
3. Another pose for Snowglobe! She's really cuuute >w< I'm very proud of this one!!
4. ANOTHER pose for Snowglobe-
I basically tried to redraw the pose I did for her future ref ^w^
5. Confused/shy(?) Snowglobe. This drawing is suuuuper small so I struggled to color it 👀;;
6. Snowglobe's tail! It's really small and generally hard to see in most drawings of her so I decided to just straight up draw her tail bc it's cute and floofy x3
7. Snowglobe's oven mitt! And a blueberry muffin she baked! She loves to bake! It's rather hard to tell that that's a blueberry muffin, though... The blue color came out REALLY dark for some reason-
8. A needle and thread. 🪡
This is my first time drawing a needle and thread-
9. A flower! I drew this bc I imagine that Plum often gives Snowglobe flowers <33
10. The WHOLE PAGE!! >:D 🐑❄️✨

Here is the only other finished entry in the series: Dragon Dance 6.
I think I'll be reworking the drawings for the rest of this series. The sixth entry here is the best of the lot.
I tried out some different colored pencils that I had seen advertised like crazy on Instagram a while back. They're the Arteza brand, from China. They smell like those cheap Rose Art crayons, but these pencils color fairly well. They have a higher wax-to-pigment ratio than Prismacolors, so they require some more layering work to get the gradients I really like. They're not bad pencils; not too expensive, either. They also work just fine over an inked drawing/watercolor underpainting, which is my usual MO.
I used Mom's orchids as inspiration for the wings and the overall color palette. The contrast of greens and pinky-orange is lots of fun, and I enjoyed doing alllll the decorative bits in gel pen. In person, it shimmers when you turn it in the light.
The dragon also holds a small sodalite stone.

Realized I hadn't drawn a self-portrait in a long time. I look different than I did in the last one, and I'm really happy with both my appearance and this piece!
Sketched with an HB Faber-Castell pencil, lined with Pigma brush pens, and colored with a mix of Copic Sketch and Arteza Everblend markers.

The secret strat to uploading late is if you do it exactly a week after a holiday it’ll be more acceptable
take this drawing of @celestialalpacaron’s Overlord Husk AU I meant to post last valentines but got busy with life :D
I think the gaps in the arteza colored pencils actually gave it a crunchy look this time

I didn't want to clown on the gift donation for kids post and this might be a little late anyway, but if you're going to donate art supplies, or even give some to kids in your family, please think twice before getting those art kits that come with everything, even the ones that do come in fancy wooden boxes. They're almost always terrible in quality and even as a little kid you end up feeling frustrated by them and feel like you're the one doing something wrong or you don't have talent or something.
I get it, they're usually cheaper than buying even student grade supplies individually, but I remember getting one of the fancy wooden box ones at like thirteen then after a while getting (secretly, as to not upset the person who got me it that Christmas) because I felt I wasn't good enough at art to warrant such a gift because I couldn't get the pencils or watercolors or oil pastels to behave like how the books and videos told me they would behave. And even getting the plastic box ones as an even younger kid left me feeling frustrated. Because the kit ones are all full of cheap filler and less pigment as a cost cutting measure. And the paper that came with it was no better than printer paper so the watercolors disintegrated it.
Anyway I'm not saying you have to buy a one hundred dollar professional set of paint or something. And even student grade does add up. But a decent sketchbook (I recommend Canson XL Mixed Media, because not only is it cheap but the paper is great and there's like sixty sheets it), and maybe just one type of art supply instead of buying a whole studio's worth. Decent sets of artist pencils of different lead types are easy to come by. Or even just a few tubes of primary colors acrylic paints (I've been using Arteza acrylics and I like them a lot), or a box of decent oil pastels or a small watercolor pallet. And you can find decent brushes, even in packet sets, just make sure they're the right kind for the paints you're getting (and there are mixed media brushes too) Avoid at all costs the Crayola brushes with the thick plasticity bristles that are the bane of children everywhere tho.
TL;DR honestly, if you have the chance to know what the child likes in art supplies, just get them a decent set of that instead of one of the frustrating art kits that give you everything but for a lesser quality
(ALSO: make sure art supplies geared to younger kids are nontoxic, and if giving to an older kid who knows not to drink the paint water, make sure they know if there's anything toxic even still. This isn't too much of a worry these days unless you're getting really expensive pro stuff, but look out for warnings anyway)
