Playing Symphony of the Night after Castlevania Nocturne gave me ideas.

i have an mcr vampire au and im gonna talk about it whether people are interested or not lol

i’m still pretty early on in ideation, and i dont really ever make aus, so pardon that this is a bit of a mess

essentially, each member is a different kind of vampire, all coexisting in the modern day.

Ray and gerard are what i call traditional vampires.

gerard is your classical idea of a vampire, largely based off dracula. Similarly to dracula, he wasn’t bitten to become a vampire; it’s a sort of eternal damnation. He’s pale, has a sunlight intolerance, superhuman strength, doesn’t have a shadow or reflection, and has minor telepathic/hypnotic abilities. He relies on blood as his source of nourishment, and it keeps his youthful appearance.

ray is what I would call a “historic vampire”. He’s a vampire, and has been for longer than the rest of the band, but his nature is drawn from historic accusations of vampirism. After his death, his funeral was conducted improperly, leading to him rising from the grave as a vampire. He brings misfortune, harsh weather and natural disasters, and disease and illness comes to people he is around (as do mental ailments such as night terrors). To outsiders, though, he’s just some guy.

frank and mikey are where i’m not too sure, because they’re a bit similar as of now, but i’m working on it. I’m calling them the romance vampires.

mikey is my favourite of the two (as of now), which is essentially that he is a Twilight-style vampire. He is alluring, stays looking young, has keen senses, doesn’t sleep, and has superhuman strength and speed. Like Twilight vampires, he can consume blood of any kind to be satiated. For the sake of my sanity, I’m not making him sparkle like bowie in the morning sun, but I think the idea of his allure kind of covers that.

frank is a combination of mikey and gerard; he’s essentially a modern vampire, like how you often find vampires treated in contemporary works. He is a recent, modernised version of a vampire (like you often see in paranormal romances, hence the “romance vampire” title), with all the most stereotypical vampire traits; drinks blood, is sun intolerant, has a bite on his neck, can’t consume garlic, has no shadow or reflection, etc..

there’s a good chance i’ll involve other bands at some point (likely as humans for some cool dynamics), but for now, this is it :)
